A Conversation with Olympian Rachael Flatt (Mental Health Awareness Month 2021)

from Healthy Young Athlete Podcast

We continue our series during Mental Health Awareness Month discussing mental health issues facing athletes. Think that professional athletes have it all together and there aren’t any pressures? How about if you make the Olympics for your sport? Everything will be great from there on out, right? It’s easy to walk away. No pressures…..well maybe not the case. How can an athlete still make an impact in their sport after the competition ends? Today on the podcast we are joined by a former Olympic figure skater, soon to have her doctorate in psychology. We’ll talk about her athletic career and how she is now making her mark in the world of mental health of the athlete. All of these things are things to consider. Today on the podcast, I have a very special guest to me. My son. He suffered a sports injury his sophomore year which led to a significant acute decline in his mental health. We are going to discuss his experiences and his story.   The Healthy Young Athlete Podcast Links Bar: Subscribe & Interact with Us Now!
