ALIEN: 40th Anniversary
from Everything Horror Podcast · host Everything Horror Podcast
On May 25th, 1979 we witnessed the first encounter of an Xenomorph. With female lead role, Ellen Ripley, played by the lovely Sigourney Weaver. After losing her entire crew to this unidentified species, this was the start to the franchise we grew to love and hate as time went on. Alien won 1 Oscar Award, with another 16 wins with 20 nominations. Ridley Scott who directed the film, wanted the creatures to become scary. In order to do so, he fly over seas and recruited the beloved H.R. Giger, who at the time was showing off his masterpieces of art. "After a space merchant vessel perceives an unknown transmission as a distress call, its landing on the source moon finds one of the crew attacked by a mysterious lifeform, and they soon realize that its life cycle has merely begun." The script was written by Dan O'Bannon, Ronald Shusett (story wise), and Dan O'Bannon (screenplay). Another name worth mentioning who was uncredited, Eddie Powell. The man who was the Alien. Within this 40th Anniversary, we dive into the film of the uncut and cut version. Which way was better, did it work to keep the directors cut? Did it show to much of the creature, or was it enough to scare us these 40 years later. Doug and I put our thoughts and opinions inside LV-426. This is our last recording upon boarding the ship. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ALIEN 40TH ANNIVERSARY MERCH "The Making of Alien" Hardcover ALIEN 40th Anniversary Steelbook MEMORY: The Origins of Alien Documentary ALIEN 4K + BLU RAY ALIENS 7" ALIEN RESURRECTION SERIES 14 NECA ALIEN 3 - ACCESSORY PACK - CREATURE PACK ALIEN RESURRECTION 7" NEWBORN NECA ALIEN 40th Anniversary Funko Pop
