from Trauma Recovery Anonymous · host richiejtierney
An opinion is only an opinion until the recipient adds substance to it. When a mental health professional on meeting you for the first time, gives their opinion of what your problem might be, at that point, that is their opinion, they might be wrong. It is solely down to you as to whether you accept that opinion as your truth or you reject it. If you accept it as your truth and their opinion is that you have a mental disorder; for instance lets suggest Depression or PTSD. Only when you buy into this opinion does it gain substance and traction. It's only when you, not at your best, decide that a strangers opinion of you, should define you for the rest of your life; understand you are your own worst enemy; you cant blame the professional, they just gave you an opinion, you can't blame your childhood, your past, the war or your parents; you elected to accept a person's opinion as your truth. Lets imagine in this moment, you think i am a fool for making this argument. Now be clutching for answers accept your opinion, and declare " I am a fool" For this to become my reality and solution, I must embrace the concept of being a fool in every area of my life. i have to keep loyal to this diagnosis because i have chosen this pinion of yours to define me. But what if i disagree, what fi my arguments are valid, that a fool would never been responsible enough to look you up and make an appointment to see you. And so rejecting your opinion, I go looking for a second opinion. Here the mental health professional agrees I am not a fool, but declares I an an idiot; that i am talking about things I am not qualified to talk of and therefore i must be a complete idiot. Again, if I accept your opinion, I must now act the complete idiot to present this new identity to all about me. But what if, once more, i disagree with your opinion and after voicing all my reasons why i am not an idiot, i go in search of a third opinion. This time i decide to talk to a Holistic therapist or coach to see it from the perspective of an emotional disturbance rather than a mental illness. Their solution empowers me to see all my feelings and emotions are my God given instincts, and every time i am triggered now, I choose Flight or Fight, and to my surprise my world doesn't fall apart. But there is something niggling at me, I'm sill not all there. i realize there is a past memory eating away at me, and burying my head in the sand and pretending it isn't there doesn't work & so i set aside and skepticism and ask a spiritual advisor about how do i claim and perform miracles to cast out my demons. They suggest a spiritual solution, and once completed, am free of my demons, have slain my dragons past and broken the bondage of the past for the first time in my life i am completely free of the past I am able to focus all of my attention and intentions on the present and those I am responsible for. I had to decide if i was going to allow another person's opinion rule and define me or was I willing to do what it would take to let go of the past completely #healinganypasttraumamemory #traumarecoveryanonymous Richard can take you on this journey, you'll need both books read, to understand the path we will take and in three hours you will be free of the past.
