Anxiety is a Superpower

from Trauma Recovery Anonymous · host richiejtierney

Understand all your feelings and emotions are not mental disorders, rather they are our God given instincts, our gut feelings to keep safe. When we feel anxious, we can use one one of our responses. In the animal kingdom, when an animal is being attacked or hunted, they will respond with : Flight.  - Fight.  - Freeze Watch any national geographic episode and you will see animals going through these responses. But, we are human beings, were endowed with three other responses: Fawn - Faith. - Acceptance. Freeze and Fawn are the perfect healthy responses for young children. young children cannot run away or defend themselves; all they can do is to either Freeze or Fawn. We have to learn to use the other responses and why: Flight: run away, leave the building,  the conversation, the relationship, the situation Fight: ask for help, tell others you don't want to be fixed or saved but would they teach you how to cope better, look at your therapist, they experience anxiety too, yet you don't see them medicating themselves, ask them what they do and simply copy them,  seek a solution, stand up for yourself, fight back, just say no Faith : keep your faith in your parents and family, ignore your self talk, accept there is a god, stop arguing whether the chicken or the egg came first Acceptance: understand it's not all  about you, you are no one's victim,  Understand your anxiety is a great warning skill probably the best call to action in your whole armory of coping skills ,so  trust your anxiety and remember they are your God given instincts. The best thing you can do right now is to stop listening to your self talk. there are two sets of voices within you. The conscious voices in your mind  & The subconscious voices of your soul One set knocks you down  & The other set builds you up Learn to differentiate which is which.   This book will help #howtolivestressandanxietyfree24hoursadaybyrichardtierney   If there is some past event that intrudes on your life, you cant forget, then you must treat this too. #healinganytraumamemory #traumarecoveryanonymous
