[Archival Reboot] Soul Care Narrative Day 4 - Protagonist

from Mohawkmomma Soul: Divergent Soul Care for Scribblers + Speakers + Seekers · host Andrea "Pastor Angie" Palmer

Pause Parishioners, now that you have scribbled out your soul care narrative, let's take a closer look at your protagonist(s)—who is for your good, who is advocating for your well-being? In your story, make sure you include yourself as a protagonist because you are also an agent of good (tov) and transformation. A word about the inner critic: SOULjourner, don't discount yourself as a protagonist due to your inner critic. Did you know that even your inner critic is for you? Yes, you heard me—she is trying to warn you and keep you safe. Her voice has been shaped by your experiences + pain. Her focus is on the part of your story she longs to protect. She gets scared and anxious when you step out to do hard and vulnerable things. If her ways and words are followed, they will keep you from true connection and the fellowship of radical love. Instead of ignoring her or silencing her, listen deeply and respond with grace, "Yes, I might get hurt, I might get rejected, I might be new to this, I might get it wrong, but we are more than our pain. I am free to courageously dare to encounter joy + deepen my roots as I experience God's steadfast and unswerving love for me even here." This is the affirmation of a protagonist.
