Back to Your Future

from Trauma Recovery Anonymous · host richiejtierney

BACK TO YOUR FUTURE   In the last episode Richard shared a NLP practice that suggested we take a moment to separate the spiritual aspect of ourselves from the conscious physical aspect of us.   First, we focus on breathing in through our nose only   When we breathe in through our mouths we aggravate:   The anxiety and fear of the unknown future stored in our chest area. It can feel like there is a giant elephant sitting on our chest we can’t breathe, we gasp for air, triggering panic   And the stress, depression and despair of the past, stored in our neck, back and shoulders it feels like we carry the weight of the world on our shoulders, it weighs us down   We breathe in a gentle breath We close our eyes   We don’t compete or compare our breathing with others   Some folks, are very fit, they have never smoked or vaped, and their breathing could put the rest of us to shame   Some people, like Richard, were chain smokers and would fail in comparison   Others were never into fitness or exercise   At the end of the day, this is a personal individual practice for each of us   We are to breathe as comfortably as best suits us, exhaling through the mouth   When you are ready to do this practice have some place safe and private where you can do this, maybe your bedroom   In this practice we are to look back at our past, from a subjective perspective, hence this is the spiritual aspect of you, looking at the form of you on the bed, and back in your history   Recall their trauma event from this subjective perspective   Whatever happened in their past life, caused them to suffer a loss of innocence   We recall that younger aspect of us, who suffered, endured, survived and overcame the trauma event, returning home after the event   We recall how much they were spiritually bankrupt.   It was a soul destroying experience for them.   Before the trauma, they were a normal human being, comfortable with themselves, their families, communities, and society.   But after the event, they were changed, they could feel this difference in their bones.   They were never the same again   They just didn’t fit in   They felt lost, alone,   They were easily triggered,   Their buttons pushed unknowingly by those closest to them.   They were using all their resources, their training and their love for those closest, not to lash out, not to lose it.   It was tiring, but they were committed to not taking it out on those around them;   saying it was hard was an understatement;   but they were dedicated to the task.   Some took to drugs and alcohol Some left, ran away Some escaped into sex Some took mood altering chemicals   None of them were bad people, they were each just doing their best, to keep those around them safe   And then they went to mental health professionals to find a solution   There weren’t the words to describe the hole in their soul;   Their broken spirit;   Their feeling of being damaged good       They told their all,   About how it manifested into their lives     The nightmares   Flashbacks   Buttons pushed,   Triggers activated   Dysfunctional behaviors   Terrible bouts of assorted moods   Running away from life     The mental health professionals to their credit; being experts of mental illness; offered the solution that, based on what they were presenting with, it appeared they had a mental disorder   Deep down that aspect of you, knew they weren’t mentally ill; all the efforts they took to protect their loved one were successful in their goal; but they wanted a permanent solution and they were willing to do whatever it took to change their state.   Months, years, even decades later, they find out they are one of the 390million individuals who were misdiagnosed.   That all this time they had been plying their bodies with medications that had caused a chemical imbalance in their minds and bodies.   Caught between a rock and a hard place, they know they can never go back to the old version of self; and they no longer belong in their disorder community, they feel betrayed and destroyed.   But this, in fact is a good thing; now they accept the problem all along was their spiritual bankruptcy; their soul sickness; that broken spirit.   In their depths of despair they find themselves on this podcast, and are open to giving all of the baggage back to the spiritual aspect of you.   That you in your spiritual form can take all those details and baggage and those sympathy pains, and give it all to the younger aspect and it can be gone.   Looking down at yourself, you realize this is literally a God moment.   To have suffered carrying this baggage for so long, and in one moment, you see the light, and realize you can do this; as only you can   In this moment you take your time returning to your physical self.   As you open your eyes and readjust to being whole again, you notice a change in your demeanor   You are aware, that it is OK to give this away,   There is no need to feel guilt or that you are abandoning your younger self   This is what your younger self wants   They want to leave this plane of existence and they need you to give them back all their baggage   They couldn’t leave until they had all their baggage   There had been moments in your past when you were almost ready to let go of it, only to grip it even more tightly; but not now; now you are both on the same page   They get to step into the light; into the mansion prepared for them in Our Fathers mansion,   to join with all their ancestors   and you get to perform multiple miracles   to heal the hole in your soul   to mend your broken spirit   to cast out your demons   to slay your dragons   to quieten the voices in your head   and break free of the bondage and shackles of the past   It's time.   You know its time All your best efforts failed you   All man’s best efforts failed you   Its time to embrace a spiritual solution to heal the hole in your soul   We cant just continue as we are and expect to find our way again   We have to go back and start on a new path   We have to go back, to go forward to your real future   This is where Trauma Recovery Anonymous comes to the rescue.
