Beyond Motherhood: Identity, Calling & Purpose with Sohani Faria Ep 75

from Medicine Motherhood Missions · host Johanna

Have you ever looked at your life and thought, “I should be happy… so why do I feel like something is missing?”In this episode of Medicine Motherhood Missions, Johanna sits down with writer and storyteller Sohani Faria for an honest conversation about purpose, identity, motherhood, faith, rejection, and learning to trust God’s timing.Sohani shares how she spent much of her life as a stay-at-home mom while caring for a daughter who faced health challenges. From the outside, her life looked like the dream many women are told they should want. But internally, she felt unsettled. She was active in church. She volunteered. She served in ministry. She stayed busy.Yet eventually she realized that being busy—even doing good things for God—wasn't the same as living from a place of purpose. That realization led her to ask a life-changing question:“Lord, what is the purpose of my life? What do You want me to do?”That question became the beginning of a new chapter.Sohani is a writer whose work has been featured in Guideposts and Our Daily Bread, but her journey to writing wasn't necessarily a straight line. Her story includes rejection, waiting, motherhood, caring for children through illness, miraculous recoveries, ministry, and learning to recognize God's work even when circumstances don't make sense.Together, Johanna and Sohani explore what it means to pursue the dreams God has placed in our hearts without waiting for the “perfect” season.Sohani immigrated to Canada alone, at the age of 25, from the beautiful island of Sri Lanka. It was a pivotal step for Sohani as she learned to lean on Jesus as He gently pried away her hands from everyone and everything familiar to her. After many years of switching careers between computer programming, health care and clerical work, she found her passion in writing to encourage others to pursue Christ. She feels drawn to study and write about mind renewal.Sohani has been published in The Upper Room, Guideposts, and Our Daily Bread. She believes that being in the presence of truth alone will not change someone. To experience freedom and live a victorious life, believers must actively guard their minds and be a doer of the Word. She hopes to reach an audience this year through an email list, with content on mind renewal according to God’s Word. She is a firm believer that everyone has been given a divine vision and no matter the regrets, mistakes and lost time, it is never too late to answer the call to obey the leading of the Holy Spirit.Today, Sohani balances life as a wife, mom, part time rental custodian and writer. She lives with her husband and 2 daughters in British Columbia, Canada. In her spare time, she loves to go for short walks around the neighborhood, stay connected with friends, and look up recipes on Pinterest.Connect with Sohani:https://soundofthelordmission.com/Connect with Johanna:🌐 www.johannamoses.com🌐 www.
