Cancer and Sex

from Sexology · host Dr. Nazanin Moali, Ph.D, Psychology of Sex | Couple Therapy | Sex Education

Welcome to episode 51 of the Sexology Podcast, today I am delighted to be joined by Deborah Beaumont. We talk about how cancer diagnosis may affect an individual’s sexuality and sex life, the effects it can have a survivors’ intimate relationships and coping mechanisms recommended to improve their sexual health.   Deborah Beaumont is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and two-time cancer survivor. After her last experience with cancer (bilateral breast cancer) and multiple complications from treatments she was frustrated with conventional medicine telling he the only thing she could do to prevent another recurrence of cancer was to take prescriptions, get yearly check-ups and hope for the best that it didn't return. Feeling there was a need to know about more about prevention and making treatment decisions that supported having a good quality of life (given all the treatment and medication side effects she experienced) she immersed herself in learning about holistic and integrative treatment that complimented the medical advice she was being given.   She is now a certified functional medicine practitioner and is a holistic and integrative health coach supporting women and empowering them to make treatment decisions not only in treating cancer reclaiming their health and having a good quality of life after chemo and active treatment is done. She emphasizes an integrative mind-body approach to health, healing and living.   She works with women by phone and Skype and provides coaching and consultation to women looking for holistic and integrative recovery.   In this episode, you will hear: How cancer diagnosis may affect individual’s sexuality and sex life Sexual side effects from post cancer treatment Knowing that it’s ok for women not to be sexual after cancer treatment How cancer can affect survivors’ intimate relationships? The psychological differences between sexual side effects of post cancer treatment and cosmetic surgeries       Coping mechanisms recommended to survivors as a way to improve their sexual health Resources https://mindbodynutritionrn.com [email protected]    Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

What I Love About Sex Stephanie Ganowski Stephanie Ganowski is a clinical sexologist and sex coach for men. In her podcast, “What I Love About Sex”, her mission is to take the pressure out of sex and put the pleasure in! She does this by helping men overcome their d*ck-related issues and improve their sex communication skills, so they can feel in control of their bodies and connecting deeply with their partners. Coaching clients 1:1 for 6+ years, with a background in psychology, relationship communication training and clinical sexology makes Stephanie the person you can trust to help you. She especially wants men to have a ‘go-to’ place for help here, so they feel they’re directly spoken to and supported. Stephanie is a firm believer that sex is like any other part of life in that we need to work to understand and improve it through practice, vulnerability and patience. And if we can do that while having fun and not taking ourselves so seriously, we can create the sex life we’ve always dreamed of.<br Explicit Pleasure Uprising: Desire, Attachment, and the Sex You Actually Want Laura Jurgens, Ph.D. Formerly The Desire Gap PodcastMost people who feel disconnected from their desire, their pleasure, or their partners have spent years assuming something is wrong with them.
