Capítulo 32. Suzanne Pecore, a life in sensory evaluation (EN).

from Diálogos Sensoriales · host MBSense / Iván Méndez

Suzanne has worked in the field of sensory evaluation for over 40 years. She has an M.S. in Food Science & Technology from U.C. Davis where she specialized in Sensory Evaluation under Rose Marie Pangborn, a pioneer in the sensory field.   Suzanne has worked in contract research at McKesson Contract Research in Dublin, California, at an ingredient supplier, The NutraSweet Company, in Chicago, Illinois, at a large global food company, General Mills, in Minneapolis, Minnesota (and remotely from Pasadena, California), and most recently as an independent consultant. She has also been a visiting professor for a couple of universities, a role she thoroughly enjoyed. She has been active in many professional organizations – ASTM, Society of Sensory Professionals, IFT, and the Pangborn Symposia.   Suzanne is now fully retired and she and her husband, Fred, are living in Washington, DC to be close to their daughter’s family. Being a grandma is her favorite job! She enjoys crafting hobbies, like knitting and basket weaving, and even took on making a laminated canoe paddle this summer. She likes to be out in nature and to garden, although she’s limited to a few pots now that she lives in a condo. Suzanne is looking forward to her next “career”, just not sure what that will be.
