Trauma comes in two forms: overt (getting what we don’t need, like being attacked or criticised) and covert (not getting what we do need, like love, attention, and support). Overt trauma is more obvious; covert trauma is hidden and can leave deep, invisible wounds. We often start healing with the obvious trauma before uncovering the hidden patterns.
