Ep126 How to Future-Proof Your Finances

What does it mean to "future-proof your finances"? It means to look into the future and make decisions in the present to help you achieve the future lifestyle you want. There are often a few obstacles to this: 1) Knowing what you want; and 2) How to know what to do in the present. This episode helps you with Number 2 (I have previous episodes where I go through Number 1).  Looking at you currently Own (like your house and superannuation) and Owe (like a mortgage and other personal debt), is what I'll take you through.  Then, how to plan now for larger expenses in the future, so you can be prepared (including going on holidays, buying a new car, or paying for school fees). Our present will become the future, so let's start with the future in mind, and work our way back.
