The discussion also reflects on how cultural heritage shapes integration, identity, and collective responsibility within immigrant and diaspora communities.   Dr. Biniam Misgun is a Lecturer at the School of Social Sciences, University of KwaZulu-Natal, where he teaches Economic History and Development Studies.   He earned his BA in Anthropology and Sociology from Asmara University and went on to complete his Master’s and PhD at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. His research explores the intersection of culture, social systems, and development—particularly how traditional institutions continue to influence modern governance and community life.
