Episode #228: Letter to My Younger (Running) Self

from Running Rogue

Last week, I saw a poignant letter from Lauren Fleshman to her younger self (linked below). It inspired me to think about the lessons I might share with my younger running self. In this episode, I give you (and the younger me) 8 lessons from my 20+ year running journey. Some are focused on training mechanics, while others are focused on how to understand and enjoy the journey more. I certainly don't regret the twists and turns that have taught me these things, but I do perhaps wish I knew or learned a few of these sooner! What have you learned in your running journey so far? What would you tell your younger self? Guests will include both former and current believers in a variety of conspiracy theories, as well as debunkers, skeptics, and the investigators of those theories. I’m Mick West, a debunker. I wrote the book Escaping the Rabbit Hole – How to Debunk Conspiracy Theories using Facts, Logic, and Respect. This book came from my experiences running Metabunk – a debunking forum. Over the years I realized simply presenting corrections to people is not enough. We need effective communication, and we can’t do that if we don’t listen to and talk with each other. I’m hoping this podcast will help bridge that gap. Explicit Nerd on the Street Kaori Akari and Jason Rayn Welcome to our block! Explicit Running In Slow Motion with Sidney & Tamra Smith You Hear Good Things podcast network Comedian Sidney Smith and his wife Tamra — a sharp-witted educator with a soft spot for flowers — team up to navigate life, goals, and culture at their own hilarious, at times, in-depth pace. They call it “running in slow motion,” and that pretty much sums up the vibe. This isn’t a marriage podcast (their union ranks a generous 5 out of 10, after all), but it is a refreshingly honest, smart, and funny take on relationships, ambition, and everyday chaos. From real talk to pop culture and unexpected interviews, it’s a joyride of relatable moments and laugh-out-loud observations. Explicit
