There will be times when you get triggered due to the words or actions of others. When anything feels too much, too fast, or too soon, your body will go into a stress response. We can’t avoid all triggers, nor can we avoid stress responses. However, it IS our responsibility to calm our bodies and close the stress cycles. BEFORE you try to communicate in any manner with the other person, please prioritize calming the physical sensation of urgency in your body by: breathing moving screaming into a pillow reaching out to a trusted confidant journaling Once the urgency of the stress has dissipated, get curious about what you made the actions or words of the other person MEAN about you or them.
