How To Stop Dilluting The Real You

from Intelligent Intoxication · host Terri Bradway

Welcome to Season 2 of Intelligent Intoxication: Crafting A Top-Shelf Life.    You’re either lit up, alive, inspired, and fulfilled in your personal and professional life, or you’re not. Yet. If you’re not, it’s likely because you’re not: challenging yourself and making continuous progress utilizing your inherent gifts to make the contribution only you can make to others prioritizing the pursuit of your passionate talents   In his best-selling book The Big Leap: Conquer Your Hidden Fear And Take Your Life To The Next Level, author Gay Hendricks explains that we spend our time doing tasks or activities in four main “zones”: Incompetence: the things we’re not good at that others do better.  Competence: the things we’re good enough at that others do as well.  Excellence: the things you do extremely well yet aren’t fulfilling.  Genius: the things you are uniquely suited to do as they utilize your inherent gifts and passionate talents. These activities will allow you to feel lit up, alive,  inspired, and deeply fulfilled.    I invite you to take these immediately actionable steps: Delegate or ditch tasks and activities that you aren’t skilled to do. (Your Inner Critic may have you believe that you should be able to do these things, because if you can’t, then it means that you’re insufficient or inadequate.) Delegate or ditch tasks and activities that you’re skilled to do, yet so are others.(Your Inner Critic may have you believe that because you can do these things, you should do them.) Limit and/or transition out of the tasks or activities that you do extremely well IF they aren’t challenging you to make progress, feel fulfilled, or make a unique contribution to others. (Your Inner Critic may have you believe that you will be letting down others if you stop doing these things. Others may not approve of your decision to stop these activities, but that doesn’t mean that you’re doing something wrong.) Identify your inherent gifts and passions. Prioritize developing and utilizing these unique strengths and talents.    Thank you for investing your valuable time and energy into listening to the podcast.
