John Merkel. Sobriety Breakthrough
from Trauma Recovery Anonymous · host richiejtierney
It was my great pleasure to have John Merkel on my podcast. John is an advocate for 12-step recovery, and like the early pioneers of AA, hIs calling is to help newcomers get over the threshold of recovery as quickly as possible, that is to say, in one effort. Like the early pioneers of Alcoholics Anonymous, it was understood that the only way this new approach to recovery from the addiction of alcohol that was responsible for the deaths of millions was to embrace this whole process as quickly as possible. The founding fathers were made up of 100 men and women who completed these 12 steps in one sitting. in time, as the numbers grew and AA could stand on its own two feet, they started to introduce 2-day events, 4-day events, and eventually 12-day events that allowed for 12 weeks and 12 months to complete the 12 steps.. But if it hadn't been for such great pioneers like Bill & Bob, Joe & Charlie, Wally P., and Clarence Snyder, AA might never have gotten off the ground. Today, in this day and age, to have among us a pioneer who walks in those same shoes; a member who has committed his meaning and purpose in life to help those cases for whom therapy, treatment, rehabs, and even the process of taking the 12 steps slowly hasn't worked, we are blessed to have a Godsend amongst us. That Godsend is none other than John Merkel If you know of anyone who is on the cusp of utter despair and you feel time is something they don't have a lot of, in this moment in time, I suggest you make haste and reach out to John on his website, Sobriety Breakthrough. i am an advocate of taking any 12-step program as quickly as possible. i believe we self-sabotage our chances of complete recovery if we spend too long in the individual stages of the process, with the possibility we might feel it unfair to have to be the one who has to change; thus, victimhood can undermine this good work. Working with a pioneer like John and just doing it, as Nike would suggest, one gets to clean their side of the street. So, if you know of anyone in early recovery from alcohol addiction who feels recovery is too hard, or it's not for them, might I suggest you reach out to John. I was one of those who spent 5 years attending AA, drinking loads of tea, meeting loads of people like me, and behind my masks, I was slowly going insane. And then I met a pioneer like John Merkel, and everything changed Sobriety Breakthrough is possibly the answer you have been praying for. I do hope you find it, or this episode finds you. #johnmerkel #sobrietybreakthrough #alcoholicsanonymous #12steprecovery #traumarecoveryanonymous #healinganytraumamemory
