Der McLaren-Pilot Lando Norris hat das erste Formel-1-Rennen der Saison 2025 gewonnen. Norris setzte sich in einem von Regen geprägten Grand Prix von Australien gegen Max Verstappen in dessen Red Bull durch. Dritter wurde Mercedes-Mann George Russell. Lange Zeit sah es nach einem ungefährdeten Doppelsieg für McLaren aus. Doch der einsetzende Regen kurz vor Schluss warf Oscar Piastri weit zurück. Das nutzte Max Verstappen und betrieb im langsameren Red Bull mehr als nur Schadensbegrenzung. McLaren hat mit Abstand das schnellste Auto im Formel-1-Feld. Während Mercedes sich dank Russell und Rookie Andrea Kimi Antonelli die WM-Führung bei den Konstrukteuren teilt, erlebte Ferrari ein Debakel. Der SF-25 von Charles Leclerc konnte nie die Pace der Spitze mitgehen. Zusätzlich verzockte sich Ferrari bei der Strategie. Am Ende reichte es nur zu den Plätzen acht und zehn. Eine Sensation lieferte Nico Hülkenberg ab. Bei seinem ersten Rennen für Sauber fuhr der Deutsche auf Platz sieben ins Ziel. Damit hat Sauber bereits nach einem Grand Prix mehr Punkte als in der gesamten Formel-1-Saison 2024 geholt.
