Detroit Catholic: As moderator of the curia, Fr. Birney aims to help Chancery better serve parishesOrdained in 1998, Fr. Tim Birney has spent most of his priestly ministry in parish life, serving most recently as pastor of St. Frances Cabrini Parish in Allen Park and moderator of the Quo Vadis Family of Parishes, which also includes parishes in Ecorse, Taylor and Melvindale. From 2007 to 2016, Fr. Birney served as vocations director for the Archdiocese of Detroit.In October, Archbishop Edward J. Weisenburger appointed Fr. Birney as vicar general and moderator of the curia for the Archdiocese of Detroit, succeeding Fr. Jeffrey Day, who has served in both roles since 2018. Fr.
