REAR 1: My Real Estate Failure

from Real Estate Agent Radio · host Connor Clark

When I started in real estate I was a broke new agent with a strong desire to succeed. I was in a new market where I had no connections and it was highly competitive because there were lots of luxury properties. I was significantly younger than my competition who had heaps of experience and lots of past sales.  I was selling things on Facebook Marketplace just trying to make a little extra money so we could get by and begin to pay off credit card debt. I really wanted to make it in real estate so didn’t have to go and get a traditional 9 to 5 job. I wanted to grow my real estate business to 7 figures and beyond so I could help more clients and support my partner and give her and our future family the best life possible.  The thing is I was working incredibly hard to build my business but I wasn’t getting any results.  I would spend my entire day cold calling anyone in my market, knocking on as many doors as possible and sitting at open houses for other agents. At nights I would spend hours posting on social media and struggling to learn how to make Facebook ads work. I was setting up drip campaigns, organizing my CRM and putting together email newsletters. I spent a lot of money sending out 1000 mail cards every week, but no matter how hard I worked I couldn’t get a listing.  I spoke to a handful of people who were thinking about moving but they were always months or years away from doing so and I needed listings NOW...  To make things worse, my relationship with my partner was suffering because I was always so stressed and completely exhausted. I felt terrible about the situation, because I was failing to be a loving, present partner and I had nothing to show for all the sacrifice. I felt like a complete failure as a partner, a failure as a friend, a failure as a son and I felt like I was failing to live up to my potential.  After 12 months of cold calling, door knocking, sitting at open houses, mail drops, learning Facebook Ads and posting content on social media, I still hadn’t gotten a single listing or generated any quality leads.  People who told me they wanted to sell would keep changing their mind and wasting my time. Some stopped answering my calls all together.  I hadn’t made a single dollar in commission and was the most stressed I had ever been in my life. I was struggling to keep going.  I knew there had to be a better way… Listen to this episode, to discover what that way was. ------ Subscribe & follow along on my personal journey as I learn, discover and share what I'm doing to build my business to 7 figures and beyond... while only using leads that I've generated from referrals! ------ Wanna network and collaborate with other like minded real estate agents?
