Red

from MindHealth by Sara Stevens · host Sara Stevens

We can all see red from time to time and that is quite normal, but what isn’t right is if we then overreact to these triggers and situations. If you blow up like a bomb, then this isn’t going to make your life as happy as it could be. When we find better ways to deal with things, then we are not only making our lives happier, but we can also build better relationships with the people in our lives. A good way to look at the things which make us see red, is to choose to press the pause button and step out of the situation. Often our reaction is that we are not balanced with the situation, so if we have that time to process the situation it will help us calm down from the event and hopefully find rational thinking and better reasoning skills. If we look at what seeing red means on a deeper unconscious level, the reality is, it’s all based around our fight-flight and freeze response. This moment of us seeing red is our inner protective mind trying to fight our way out of a situation. For many of us, if the situation is not in any way a life-or-death event, then this approach is not going to help you, it is more than likely going to cause you more issues than less.
