Speak, Lord (Ep 177)
from PocketNeif Podcast · host Mike Neifert
When hardly anyone was hearing from God, Samuel was called upon to be God's man. While reading the story from 1 Samuel 3 almost ten years ago, I was inspired to write a prayer song based on the simple phrase Eli gave young Samuel to say when he realized God was addressing his protégé. I hope the song will lead you to listen to God's word to you. Speak, Lord Verse 1:Speak, Lord, for your servant’s listening. At break of day, in my quiet place.Come, speak to my heart, to my soul. Verse 2:Speak, Lord, for your servant’s listening.Under midday sun, when I cannot rest.Come, speak to my heart, to my soul. Chorus:Speak your words of mercy. Speak your words of woe.Speak your words of truth, Lord. The things I need to know.Oh, Speak. Lord, speak. Verse 3:Speak, Lord, for your servant’s listening. In the cool of ev’ning, after work is doneCome, speak to my heart, to my soul. Verse 4:Speak, Lord, for your servant’s listening.Through the darkest night, when my mind is troubled.Come, speak to my heart, to my soul. Ending:Speak, Lord, for your servant’s listening. © 2013 PocketNeif Music
