The Past is None of Our Business

from Trauma Recovery Anonymous · host richiejtierney

The past is none of our business. We only exist in the present moment. In these 24 hours today. For instance, I am coming to the end of being 64 years old. when I wake in the morning, I will be a 65 year old man, no longer a 64 year old man. What happened last year, happened to a 64 year old man, but now I AM a 65 year old man, looking back on a life led by a younger version of the man I AM today. This is the truth that set me free and can set you free as well. The past is none of your business.  The awareness we have to face and embrace is we cannot alter or change time. Once the sands of time run out, we have to move with the times. Last year was a good year for me, I got introduced to podcasts and eventually set up this podcast, and here I AM now, today, at aged 65, looking back a few weeks to age 64 and  accept O cant change any of it, I cant improve on my mistakes of yesterday. I have to go with the times, especially if I want to remain somewhat sane. We can only exist in the now, this where our purpose, our meaning and our sanity resides. The past happened to a younger aspect of us and we can care for them, but we cannot fix or save them; we cannot fight their battles for them; nor can we suffer their pains for them. It's our job to grieve for them for a spell and then let go of them completely and focus on our own lives in the present. We rise like a phoenix out of the ashes of their life challenges. We owe it to them to embrace a life of joy for them. When I focus on the past in anyway, I am self sabotaging my life in the present. My focus shifts to a past life of another, and thus I am not fully in the present, for those around me, nor for my hopes, dreams, aspirations and goals. and As for the future, the I WILL BE.. state; there is no guarantee any of us, will wake up tomorrow. No! we must maintain all our focus on being fully present in the I AM  state at all times today. Get your head around this truth and you will accept your history is no longer your story, it is belonging to the younger aspects of you, His or Her- Story. Normal people, untouched by trauma have and can revisit their histories because it doesn't trigger them. This is the reason why we have to give up our histories to younger aspects of us, because we are easily triggered by them, we have been conditioned to believe the past happened to us, that we are it's victims.   Always remember everything in the past is no longer our story, it belongs to someone else. It's their story. Look on it as though you are a spiritual being living multiple lifetimes of one year at a time, so the man I am today at aged 65, is different to the man I was 4 weeks ago, a year ago, a decade ago and back in my childhood. What happened in the past to the different aspects of me, happened to them in their bodies, not to this 65 year old body today. I carry the memory of what happened to them and Sympathy Pains for them as a show of support and solidarity for what that child went through. Our bodies change completely every 6-10 years. billions of cells die each day, that over that life time[ the average being 8 years] my whole body changes, every physical makeup part of the body; the flesh, skin, tissue, organs, etc.. all changes. the body of that 12 year old child and my body today are totally different. This means the body holds the physical scars, but the emotional scars have to be held elsewhere. That elsewhere is the Soul. the one part of us that never changes. Being spiritual, it is the same from the beginning of time, throughout this whole life and on into the next dimension. If we are to heal, we have to stop treating our mind as the problem and recognize we each suffer from a soul sickness, a broken spirit, and we need a spiritual solution to mend this broken spirit by healing the hole in the Soul caused by the past trauma memory and the Sympathy pains we carry and suffer in error. This is where Trauma Recovery Anonymous comes to the rescue.
