Tiger Talk Episode 70 04/23/2019

from Tiger Talk Podcast by Northeast Mississippi Community College · host Will Kollmeyer, Northeast Mississippi Community College

In this seventieth (70th) edition of the TigerTalk podcast presented by Northeast Mississippi Community College, host Will Kollmeyer welcomes Northeast student Dora Stricklin to the podcast to tell her story about overcoming tragedy and life events to graduate with not just one, two...but three degrees from Northeast when she walks at graduation in May. Stricklin dropped out of school in the seventh grade and decided to make a change for the better but not before life threw her a few more curveballs along the way -- including the death of her father on her first day of class at Northeast. Nothing slowed down Stricklin and through determination and encouragement from her husband and the staff in the NEMCC Adult Basic Education department along with many Northeast faculty and staff members, Stricklin will walk across the stage in the Bonner Arnold Coliseum in May as a college graduate. In the second half of the podcast, Northeast offensive coordinator Doug Saylor stops in to give the low down on the Northeast Tiger football golf tournament coming up in May at Hillandale Country Club in Corinth. The golf tournament, which is one of the football team's biggest fund-raisers, is seeing a few changes this year from the members of the Tiger family and plans to be a splendid day out on the links of one of the top golf courses in the college's five-county district. Set for May 3, there are still spots left in the tournament and this gives the football team a way to raise funds while recognizing those who give to the program as well. Kollmeyer wraps up this week's podcast with one of the most comprehensive lists of events and happenings on the Northeast campus for the upcoming week, so if you have an event or happening on campus and want to be part of the Tiger Talk podcast, reach out to us.
