Vol.10 João and Adriana: We All Need Some Brazilian Spirit
from 何を作ってるの? · host What do you create
In this episode, we talked to a lovely couple from Brazil João and Adriana. João is artist, Adriana is art strategist. None of us are native English speakers, but this is the language we rely on to communicate with each other. In international settings like this, we often find ourselves defaulting to English. At one point, we started talking about cultural stereotypes through a simple example. In any field, being articulate is powerful. But there’s also something important in being patient with those who are less confident in a shared language. That patience opens up space for unexpected understanding, and for different ways of thinking to emerge. Talking with João made me realize that in the end, it’s the person speaking that matters most, not how fluent they are in a particular language.
