Why do orcas share their prey with humans?
from Mornings with Simi · host Curiouscast
Researchers from Canada, New Zealand, and Mexico have documented 34 cases over the past 20 years where wild orcas appeared to offer freshly caught prey to humans. These encounters involved orcas approaching swimmers, boaters, or people on shore and dropping prey within about a body-length of them. In 97% of the cases, the orcas paused after making the offering, appearing to wait for a human response before either retrieving the prey or leaving it.
