Die Realität sieht anders aus, erzählt die Zoo-Tierärztin Anja Hantschmann im Podcast "Frisch an die Arbeit". “Die Tiere, die einen Tierarzt mit einem Blasrohr sehen, hassen diesen Menschen.” Hantschmann, 1988 in Leipzig geboren, arbeitet seit zwei Jahren als Tierärztin und Forschungskoordinatorin im Tierpark Berlin-Friedrichsfelde. Sie kümmert sich um alle gesundheitlichen Aufgaben, von Karies bei Braunbären über Impfungen für Tiger bis hin zu Ultraschallbildern von schwangeren Hirscheberweibchen. Im Podcast erzählt sie, welchen romantischen Irrtümern selbst Tiermedizin-Studierende oft unterliegen, wie sie eine Herde der einst fast ausgestorbenen Wisente von Berlin in einen Nationalpark in Aserbaidschan begleitete und welche Verletzung für Menschen banal ist – aber für Wildtiere oft den Tod durch Einschläfern bedeutet.
