Where do you go to find hope? God has made us a promise that he is our future and our hope but how do we discern that from just wishful thinking? Heath Adamson, Senior Vice President of Global Program at Convoy of Hope believes 'hope' is more than just a nice idea. The faith-based global relief and humanitarian organization has distributed over $3.1 billion in aid and served more than 300 million people around the world. He's also the author of several books, including Grace in the Valley and Hope Breaks Through. Adamson talks powerfully about the need for hope in our world and in this conversation explains why feeding the poor is not just a socio-economic idea but can help serve people who are spiritually poor too.

Pastor Wendell Vinson has been in ministry for over 40 years and he's still passionate that it can solve problems the world often simply can't. He's the co-founder and president of the non-profit CityServe Network, an organization that resources local churches to serve it's communities. Katy Faust is the passionate founder and president of Them Before Us, a non-profit that advocates for children's rights. And as an activist Faust is not backwards in coming forward. She believes every child has the right to be known and loved by their biological mother and father. She is a conservative and policy influencer who publishes widely on marriage and family issues, sometimes ruffling feathers when it comes to issues of same-sex marriage, IVF and sperm and egg donation which she believes 'commodify' children. Carole Nuriel - Antisemitism in the middle east
Carole Nuriel grew up in Israel, born to French speaking Moroccan-born parents and is known mainly for her extensive work with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) a prominent international organization founded in 1913 to combat antisemitism and bigotry. Her work has lead her to consult with many types of people living within Israel including the Bedouin and Druze and she is a regular media commentator and a frequent speaker at conferences and expert forums, providing insights on global antisemitism. In this edition of Babel Undone she talks about how antisemitism is much more of a problem for Jews outside Israel and how the country of her parents birth, where Jews and Muslims lived together in harmony for centuries, has helped provide a blueprint of what the middle east could be.

Stephan Christiansen - Revival in Europe and how to define it

Amos Yong - How Pentecostal movements and the outpouring of The Spirit affect 'Global theology'
Malaysian-American Pentecostal theologian Amos Yong was born in Asia but moved to the US in his teens. With a father who was a pastor himself he was steeped in the Pentecostal tradition, a subject that would fascinate him for his whole live. Yong is considered one of the most important Pentecostal theologians of his generation and argues that charismatic movements should be taken seriously as a theological tradition and not just an emotional or cultural phenomenon. Yong is Professor of Theology and Mission at Fuller Theological Seminary and author of The Spirit Poured Out on All Flesh, The Pentecostalism and the Possibility of Global Theology. Hikmat Kashouh - The pastor and scholar building Christian communities in the heart of Lebanon
Dr. Hikmat Kashouh is the senior pastor of Resurrection Church Beirut and a respected scholar in Middle Eastern Christianity. Through his scholarly work and his book The Arabic Versions of The Gospels he sought to keep the arabic Christian tradition alive to for his generation and the next. He was born during Lebanon’s civil war, experiencing bombing and displacement firsthand. His faith led him to earn a PhD in Textual Criticism from the University of Birmingham in the UK and served as Academic Dean at the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary. In 2008 he says he received a divine assignment to grow the church where he was. There are now 44 congregations in Lebanon. Jenny Korn - fighting for people of faith from the heart of the White House
Jenny Korn is Deputy Assistant to the President and Faith Director in the White Houses's Faith Office a role she was appointed to by President Trump earlier this year. She's a seasoned Republican political strategist and has been active in politics for over 20 years. Back in 2004 she worked on George W. Bush's campaign leading its Hispanic engagement. Later she joined Trump's first time in office as Deputy Director in the Office of Public Liaison and co-founded the National Faith Advisory Board, maintaining gospel-driven ties after leaving. Rabbi Mendy Chitrik - how to live as a Jew in a Muslim Nation
Rabbi Mendy Chitrik is the Rabbi of the Ashkenazi Jewish community of Turkey. In 2019 Chitrik founded and became chairman of the Alliance of Rabbis in Islamic States (ARIS). It's the first rabbinic network based in the Muslim world, connecting 45 rabbis across 14 countries. He is a recognisable name in Jewish-Muslim interfaith dialogue and is known for the implementation of Kosher standards in factories across Turkey. In 2021 he met with President Erdogan speaking to him about how Jews and Muslims can coexist peacefully. He is a champion of Jewish heritage in muslim countries and has travelled extensively to document the legacy of his faith across Turkey in Cappadocia, Antakya and Harran. Aviad Amitai - Helping pilgrims to walk the same ground as Jesus

Rabbi Daniel Roth is an academic who originally hails from upstate New York but now lives in Jerusalem. He describes himself as a religious zionist and believes that far from religion being the problem within local and global conflicts, it is the key and also the solution. Roth has a Ph.D. in Conflict Management, Resolution & Negotiation and is the Director of Mosaica a religious peace initiative where he leads religious mediators across Israel and the Palestinian territories to build better relationships. His work has seen him mediate in community tensions during the Yom Kippur riots in 2008 and the Temple Mount crises in 2017 as well as other religiously sensitive situations. Chris Seiple - how people of different faiths can live together
Chris Seiple is a former US marine infantry officer whose military service earned him a Meritorious Service Medal. He's a Senior Fellow with the Love Your Community Programme which seeks to foster activities that embrace different faiths and backgrounds and which can lead to civil societies based on those shared values. Seiple has taught comparative religion at Washington University and is a leading thinker when it comes to something he calls 'covenant pluralism' or how pepole of different faiths work and live. Shadi Martini - the Syrian businessman who became a refugee
Shadi Martini is a Syrian American businessman who has worked tirelessly for Syrian Refugees. He grew up in Aleppo with doctors for parents who owned a private hospital in the city. He didn't follow his family into medicine, instead establishing a manufacutring business in Bulgaria but later moved back to Syria to run the family hospital. When the war began in 2011 they worked hard to distribute medicine. As the conflict worsened they began relying on a smuggling network to get it to the people in need. After his activities were discovered by the secret police, he was forced to flee and relocated to the US. He returned, and in 2013 founded the Multifaith Alliance a US-based non-profit organisation which tries to support Syrian refugees with humanitarian aid and advocacy. There are currently over 12 million Syrians forcibly displaced in the region, including almost 6.8 million within Syria and 5.4 million living as refugees in neighboring countries. It's one of the largest displacement crises in the world. But there is hope. The UN says to date nearly two million Syrians have been able to return home. Babel Undone is produced by Premier. Asher Fredman - An Israeli-American strategist thinking practically about peace
Originally from New York Asher Fredman now lives in Jerusalem and is now the Director for Israel at the Abraham Accords Peace Institute. He's passionate about bridge building and through his work has helped broker deals linking young leaders across Israel, Morocco, UAE, and Bahrain through culture, tourism and innovation. It's something he seeks to expand upon through the Gulf Israel Green Ventures which he also leads and is a platform linking entrepreneurs in both areas to work together to use clean-tech. With his background in bridgebuilding and business it's perhaps not surprising that he's also held senior roles in Israel’s Strategic Affairs Ministry allowing him to advise on matters of Public Security too. Phil Cooke is the son of a preacher but says he never felt the call to the pulpit. Yet his upbringing gave him a fundamental understanding of the pressures that come with leading a church. He went on to become founder of Cooke Media Group – a consulting company that works with religious and nonprofit organizations to improve their branding and storytelling. He’s helped clients like The Salvation Army, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, and Joel Osteen Ministries, among many others. What makes the UAE different from other middle eastern countries? That's a question and that Obaid Ahmed AlZaabi can easily answer. Dr. AlZaabi has been actively involved in various international forums, representing the UAE's interests and perspectives on global issues and has held particular emphasis on UAE's commitment to religious openness and minority rights. As a seasoned diplomat he's worked as a permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva and has served as the UAE's Permanent Representative to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva.

Being a Christian in Iran
Being a Christian in Iran is complex. It's not illegal to practise you faith there but it depends on how you do it. Even being a member of a house church can have you thrown in jail. But despite being a majority Muslim nation the Church there is growing there. Dr. Hormoz Shariat is an Iranian-American Christian evangelist and the founder of Iran Alive Ministries, an organization that uses TV and digital media to broadcast Christian content into Iran and the broader Persian-speaking world. He's often referred to as the "Billy Graham of Iran" because of his large-scale evangelistic impact though he'd never call himself a televanglist. His is a global church using media. He was born in Iran then came to the United States in the late 1970s. He originally studied Computer Engineering, earning a Ph.D. from USC (University of Southern California) only later transitioning to full-time ministry. Dr. Shariat became a Christian while in the U.S., and his personal transformation played a major role in shaping his mission to share The Gospel with other Iranians.

Striving for independence
Somaliland wants independent and that's something Bashir Goth - a journalist and poet - has been advocating for many years. Somaliland declared independence from Somalia in 1991 and has maintained a stable, democratic government ever since - no mean feat. But despite functioning as a de facto independent state, it remains unrecognized internationally. It's a complex situation but Goth, a diplomat and head of the Somaliland Mission to US, believes it can be done. As a journalist, Goth has worked for the Washington Post, The New York Times and Al Jazeera addresing topics ranging from Somali identity its diaspora and the dynamic and regional drive for peace and development.
