The most dangerous kind of enemy is the enemy within. The enemy you can’t see & don’t expect. Many a nation, community, & personal friendship has been undermined by betrayal. Today, we see the traitor within Jesus’ circle exposed. What effect does this have on Jesus? Disciples? The traitor himself? Much to learn from the dark pages in God’s Word this morning!

As Jesus draws closer & closer to the cross, what is His message to his disciples? What lasting instructions will he give the leaders of the Christian faith beyond the cross? How might this be instructive to disciples of Jesus today? Come, let’s open God’s word and revisit the call of a disciple of Jesus then and today!

Why do people reject the light in the face of overwhelming evidence? Getting to the root of unbelief is always a matter of the heart. We see the Jesus that we seek.

Good news is often hard to come by in our world. Every time we turn on the news, it’s bad news. Every time things are going well in our lives, more bad news comes. This Easter Sunday, we are reminded of the “good news” that transcends all the bad news. We are reminded that He is Risen! And this news changes our today & all our days ahead!

Expectations can be healthy or damaging. It depends on whether both parties are on the same page. In Jesus' day, Israel expected a Messiah to deliver God’s people. Jesus came to do that, but not in the way people expected. Today, we must ask if our expectations of King Jesus align with His mission and purpose. Let’s open God’s Word to see Jesus' mission & how we fit into it.

Sooner or later, you discover what makes people tick by their actions & responses to the world around them. After Jesus miraculously raises Lazarus from the dead, we see heart motives revealed by those around the orbit of Jesus. As we unpack God’s word this morning, consider which response to Jesus best describes yours. Much to learn and apply in God’s Word today!

Death is an inescapable fact of life. It is ruthless, indiscriminate, harsh, unrelenting, and universal. But is death the end? In our text today, Jesus has an amazing answer to this question that affects not only this life but the life to come!

As Christians, we’re called to believe in Jesus. But do we believe? What do we believe about him? And more importantly, how does that belief affect our lives? Today, we learn what it means to believe in the Good Shepherd!

In the animal kingdom, sheep are considered some of the weakest, helpless, stubborn, and unintelligent animals of them all. Yet the Scriptures often liken humans to sheep who need a Shepherd. But what kind of Shepherd do we need? Left with the wrong shepherd, we are in trouble. However, with the right Shepherd, we are more protected and cared for than we can ever imagine. Today, we meet the kind of shepherd we need most!

Ever woke up in the middle of the night & rather than turning on the light, you tried to navigate in the dark due to familiarity with your surroundings? How’d that work out? Today, we see Jesus turn the lights on for someone who knew they were blind and keep the lights off for those who were confident in their blindness. Much to learn & apply from these pages of Scripture this morning!

Ever been in a verbal debate that goes from exchanging arguments to personal attack? In today’s text, the religious leaders argue with Jesus over claims He makes about Himself & them. So, how does Jesus respond to their vitriol? What does Jesus say to rile them up?

How often have you heard this phrase, the truth will set you free? People tend to ascribe their own “truth” to this phrase. Oftentimes, the very thing we believe is freeing is actually spiritually enslaving. Today, we examine the origin of this phrase and the context in which Jesus used it. Gospel truths and implications for our lives abound in this passage today!

Nearly everyone would agree that there is darkness in the world. We are constantly surrounded by this reality in the news, social media, school, work, etc. Where do we turn to in a world full of darkness? Our passage today reminds us that Jesus is our one and only light!

If you default to one or the other, is it grace or truth? These defaults can show up in our marriages, parenting tactics, politics, and generally how we view ourselves and the world around us. Where does God default, or does He? The passage we are unpacking today beautifully shows us that God is a God of grace & truth. Let’s let this truth sink in today!

Life can be exhausting & heart-wrenching at times. In hard times, life has a way of emptying us of joy and hope. Yet Jesus promises to deliver us from our spiritual emptiness & fill us up in and through the hardships of this temporal life. But, how do people respond to this offer? Let’s dive in and be challenged and encouraged by God’s inspired Word this morning!

How does your house become a home? Answers are plentiful as we think of our earthly dwelling. For believers, we are also part of God’s household, that’s the church. So here’s the question for 2026…is our church a place where Christ desires to inhabit? Is He welcome here? As we begin 2026, let’s consider key biblical ingredients that make up a healthy church.

In fearful & dark times, the promise of someone’s presence is always invaluable. Whether it’s a child who fears the dark at bedtime and needs their parents’ promise and presence or an adult who is looking into the unknown of their future. Today, we go back to the OT Christmas promise of God’s presence to God’s people in a fearful & spiritually dark time. Much to learn today at our Christmas service!

How many times a day do you say or think to yourself, “I’m hungry?” Our bodies let us know when they need sustenance. Without food, we die. Jesus, having just miraculously fed the crowds, will make some astounding claims about what we all need from Him. How will the people respond? How do we respond? Faith’s biggest testing ground is often when the odds seem stacked against us. Will we rely on our own strategies & devices, or will we ask God to intervene? In today’s passage, the odds seem stacked against the dilemma at hand. What will Jesus do? What lessons are there to learn about faith, provision, and leaning to live into our kingdom calling? Let’s dive in and see!

A witness provides evidence to testify to what they saw, heard, or know. Jesus has been making astounding claims regarding his deity. Can he back his claims up with evidence & witnesses? Let’s open God’s Word and see what witnesses Jesus has to back up his claims.

After Jesus heals the lame man on the Sabbath, the card-carrying legalist get all bent out of shape. Rather than backing down, Jesus doubles down on his identity as God’s Son. Today, Jesus continues to make more bold claims about His identity. Let’s open God’s Word and ask the questions: Who do we say Jesus is and are we willing to submit to His authority?

Most people would try just about anything to cure themselves of a sickness or malady. We see so many products on our feeds claiming to heal us, make us healthier, younger, etc.…Today, Jesus seeks out a man who has been an invalid for most of his life and is superstitiously seeking healing. What will Jesus do? What does the person in need have to do? What will others say?

Believing That Saves | John 4:43-54 by Christ Community Church of Magnolia

In the gospel of John, we have seen Jesus extend His grace to the religiously & morally respectable insider. But, what about the unbelieving & immoral outsiders? Are they outside of his mission as the long-expected Messiah? Are they unredeemable? Let’s open God’s word this morning and find out!

Humility is an elusive thing. Once you think you’ve arrived, you know you haven’t! Why is humility such an important quality to pursue as a Christian who desires to serve in ministry & use their gifts for His kingdom? Today, we see a great biblical example of humility before Jesus. Much to learn today in John 3 about our heart attitude and motivation to serve Jesus!

People love to hear that Jesus loves us unconditionally, but are triggered by the idea that only Jesus can bring us to God. Why is that? Let’s explore both of these things in the most famous verse in the Bible and remember how great our God really is!

Most good things in life come through hard work. But does that mentality translate to our relationship with God? Do we work hard to earn favor with God? Today, we meet a deeply religious, well-respected, God fearing man who comes to talk to Jesus. Jesus decisively answers the question: How does a person get into the kingdom of God? Is it by working hard or something else? How would you answer that question?

Ever been “eaten up” inside by something that you’ve seen or experienced that was just wrong or dishonored God? Where does that feeling in your gut and mind come from? In today’s passage, Jesus is “eaten up” at what he sees and experiences. How does He respond? What truths & lessons come out of this encounter for us today?

What do you make of the miraculous? Things that defy our natural laws. Do we deny them, ignore them, or reinterpret them through a natural world lens? Jesus starts his public ministry by doing the miraculous. What do we make of it? What does it mean? What does it point us to beyond itself? Today, we see the “chain reaction” that happens when we bear witness to Jesus and His gospel. The Scriptures encourage us to be witnesses to the person & work of Jesus. A witness is someone who testifies to what they have seen & heard. In today’s passage, John the Baptist serves as a model example of what it means to be a witness. Today, let's unpack two vital ingredients to living as witnesses of Jesus in our everyday lives!

In life, there are people who "stand out" above the crowd. We often marvel at this, talk about it, but it naturally doesn't change much about our lives. But, when we look at the person & work of Jesus, there is no one like Him. But, Jesus isn't just looking for fans, He's looking for followers. In what ways is Jesus "1 of 1?" And, why is this significant in our life?

A world of darkness and chaos forms the backdrop of a light that makes sense of it all. Jesus is that light and those who are born again can see it clearly.

If you asked 10 people on the street who they thought Jesus was, you might get 10 different answers. But, the apostle John makes who Jesus is as clear as day in the opening words of his gospel. As we begin our new study in the book of John, let’s discover or remember why Jesus is worthy to be believed and trusted.

What makes for a life well-lived? As you get older, do you ever consider the legacy that you are leaving? As Paul closes out his letter to Timothy, he gives us a “blueprint” of what it looks like for a Christ-follower to live & die with purpose and direction. Let’s learn from the example of Paul and God’s inspired word this morning!

We live in a world of information overload. Knowledge is at the tip of our fingertips, but it's often hard to discern truth from error. This reality in our world today creates a ripe environment for people to be" led astray by every wind of doctrine," as Paul says in Ephesians 4:14. So, how do we recognize a fake from a faithful teacher of God's Word? Let's look at some tell-tell signs from God's Word this morning!

On July 4th we shoot off fireworks, gather for parties and parades to celebrate our country’s founding, and essentially, our freedom. Freedom takes on many forms and is defined in very different ways. What does Jesus say about the type of freedom we need most? Let’s learn from God’s Word!

We live in a day where endless information is at our fingertips, but trusted sources are in short supply. It’s often difficult to discern truth from error, even in the church. Every day, we take risks based on what we value. Reflect on how you allocate your time, money, and resources. We do the same thing with our faith. What are you willing to risk for your faith to be known? Your reputation, status, sense of safety, or even your financial well-being. In today’s text, Paul continues to challenge young Timothy to take risks for his faith because the gospel is worth it. Let’s open God’s word and see WHY the gospel is worth living out today!

Today, we read the opening words of a letter from the apostle Paul to his young protégé Timothy. As we unpack this text, note the two things that mark the life of a godly mentor and ask yourself-could I be that to someone else? Am I willing to open my life up so that someone else could be this for me?

Have you ever been treated awfully by someone? Did you show restraint or retaliation? Have you ever experienced relief from those same circumstances? How did you respond to God or others? In Esther 8, we see God’s providential deliverance unfold through the faithful intercession of Esther and Mordecai, pointing us to the greater intercessor, Jesus Christ, whose perfect work secures salvation for His people and calls us to join Him in that mission.
