Because Christ suffered for us, we must adopt His mindset, make a decisive break with sin, and devote ourselves to loving and serving others in light of eternity.

While not all suffering is noble, Christians are called to endure suffering for doing what is right and following Jesus’ example of humble faithfulness, trusting God’s justice, living with integrity, and holding onto the hope that the risen and victorious Christ will ultimately vindicate those who remain steadfast.

He reminds believers that they are exiles, chosen by God and given new birth into a living hope through Christ’s resurrection. Their trials are refining their faith, and Peter urges them to live differently: to be holy, to love deeply, and to grow.
