Our Daily Bread Podcast | Our Daily Bread - Divine Comfort

The sound of the cascading water confirmed that I’d arrived at the 9/11 Memorial Pools in New York City, a place I’d avoided visiting for fear of being overwhelmed by sadness and grief from what took place there that tragic day in 2001. I walked around the two large reflection pools located where the Twin Towers once stood. It was deeply moving to see all the names of those who died etched on the walls—some with roses placed on them by loved ones.

Big Swings Only - How Leaders Regulate Their Emotions in High-Stakes Moments — with Psychiatrist Dr. Tracey Marks

Great leaders don't avoid pressure — they know how to think clearly inside it. In this episode, Kwame Christian sits down with Dr. Tracey Marks, a board-certified psychiatrist and one of the most trusted mental health educators on YouTube (with over 2 million followers), to break down what's actually happening in a leader's brain during a high-stakes conversation — and how to stay in control of it. Dr. Marks explains why our brains treat criticism, tension, or a tough deadline the same way they'd treat a physical threat, shutting down the prefrontal cortex — the part responsible for rational thinking — right when leaders need it most. She and Kwame walk through concrete tools for reclaiming that control in the moment, including the "micro-pause," affect labeling ("name it to tame it"), and how mirror neurons and emotional contagion can either escalate or defuse a tense exchange. The conversation also covers the broader landscape leaders are navigating today: how to tell credible mental health information apart from social media sensationalism, what's really behind the ADHD self-diagnosis trend, and a candid, mixed-feelings take on AI chatbots as substitutes for real therapeutic support. Lead Culture with Jenni Catron - 340 | Trust Is Built in Systems of Repair with Dr. Rob McKenna

Trust is the thing every leader depends on and almost no one builds on purpose. In this conversation, Jenni sits down with Dr. Rob McKenna, founder of WiLD Leaders and author of Whole Leaders, Wild Trust, to talk about why trust is a byproduct of leader development, not a topic you can lecture your way into.Dr. Rob has spent decades running longitudinal leadership studies, including a six-and-a-half-year study following 120 leaders in aerospace, plus research with several thousand engineers moving into leadership roles and a multi-year study of leaders in large church organizations. What emerged surprised him: as teams did the work of understanding their own competence, motivation, and purpose together, they started trusting each other — without anyone naming trust as the goal.Jenni and Dr. Rob dig into why trust feels like air (essential, invisible, impossible to grab), what happens when a CEO's read on their culture is rosier than their employees', and the single question a leader can bring to their team on Monday morning that opens the door to real candor. What you'll hearWhy leader development and trust building turn out to be the same workWhether trust is genuinely harder to build today, and what social media may be doing to our appetite for candorThe trust quadrant: team trust on one axis, organizational trust on the other — and what it means to be in the "jungle" versus the "stronghold"The uncomfortable pattern in the data: leaders of low-trust organizations tend to think things are better than they are, while high-trust CEOs are accurate or under-rate their own cultureWhy the leaders most afraid to measure trust are usually the ones who already know it's lowJenni on the delta between how leaders experience culture and how employees doConnect with Dr. Rob McKennaWiLD Leaders: wildleaders.orgContact the team — [email protected] Leading Under Pressure Inventory and other assessments — wildleaders.org/the-wild-toolkitBook: Whole Leaders, Wild TrustWe need your help to get the LeadCulture podcasts in front of more leaders! Send us Fan MailYou can believe God forgives you and still wake up feeling dirty, stuck, and disqualified. Big Swings Only - Why Asking AI for Relationship Advice Is Making You Worse at Love

Right now, someone is telling a chatbot about the guy she went on a third date with — and it's giving her a pretty good answer. That should worry you. Stefanos Sifandos has spent 25 years coaching people through relationships face-to-face, in the room. In this episode, he explains why AI can make you feel self-aware without ever making you change — and why that satiation is quietly keeping people stuck. We get into: Why AI relationship advice feels helpful but isn't the same as real growth Why the avoidant partner always leaves first, and the anxious one won't stop chasing How to tell if you're doing "the work" or just talking yourself into feeling better What actually separates self-awareness from real change Whether sunk cost is ever a good reason to stay in a relationship What makes a marriage last when love alone isn't enough If you're in a relationship, thinking about leaving one, or trying to figure out why you keep repeating the same patterns — this conversation is for you. Max Lucado Daily Devotional - The Lord He is God

Listen to Today's Devotion Elijah challenged the prophets of Baal to a duel on Mt. Carmel. He dared them to call on Baal to send fire. From morning to evening they cried. Satan had no response. With the prophets of Baal exhausted and defeated, Elijah “repaired the altar of the Lord” (1 Kings 18:30 NASB). Twelve stones symbolizing the twelve tribes of Israel. They saturated the altar with water three times so that everything was soaked. Then Elijah prayed. He didn’t even request fire. But the Lord sent it. A blaze from heaven consumed the water, the rocks, the wood, even the dust. For the first time in three generations, the nation of Israel cried to Jehovah, “The Lord, He is God!” (1 Kings 18:39 NASB). Is it time for our generation to rebuild the altar? Max Lucado Daily Devotional - Tattooed on God’s Hand

Listen to Today's Devotion On the second day of the D-Day invasion, Leon was taken captive by the Nazis. While being marched to a POW camp, he and another soldier escaped. A farmer found them and put them in touch with the French underground. They took his US credentials and created a French ID card for him. He made it back to the Allied camp. Yet with no American ID, he was suspected of being a spy. He rolled up his sleeve and said, “Would this prove I’m an American?” It was a tattoo of an eagle, and on its breast was an American flag with the word Mother written across it. That convinced them. Sound familiar? God says, “See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands” (Isaiah 49:16 NIV). Satan is vicious, but he will not be victorious. Why? Your name is tattooed on God’s hand. The Emotionally Healthy Leader Podcast - Reversal #4: From Critical Mass to Critical Yeast

Pre-Order Pete Scazzero's forthcoming book, Emotionally Healthy Success, at www.emotionallyhealthy.org/success and get a free chapter. For years, I measured ministry impact by one word: bigger. I remember walking into one of the largest churches in America, watching thousands of people fill the room, and thinking, this is it, this is critical mass. A staff member who'd been there since it was a thousand people told me something shifted at 7,500. Point people in a direction, he said, and it felt like a tidal wave.Jesus never built his kingdom that way. He picked twelve. Pulled three in closer. Sent seventy out two by two. The crowds came last, if they came at all. He called it yeast, a small amount, buried deep, working quietly until the whole loaf rises. In this episode, I walk through the fourth of four reversals from my new book: the move from critical mass to critical yeast. If you've ever measured your ministry by the size of the room, this episode will show you a slower, harder, far more fruitful way to measure it.Reserve your spot at our upcoming Global Leaders Conference.September 30 – October 1, 202614th St. Salvation Army, NYC(Live Spanish Translation available)Register Now: https://ehd.churchcenter.com/registrations/events/3421612Learn more about the EH Global Leader Conference 2026: http://www.emotionallyhealthy.org/conference

Leader2Leader: The Multiplication Factor - L2L The Multiplication Factor - Kat Armstrong

What if one of the greatest forces for multiplication in your leadership is simply having someone a few steps ahead of you? For Kat Armstrong, Senior Director of Marketing and Content Development at Integrous Leadership, that lesson began long before executive coaching was part of her professional world. As a freshman at Texas A&M, Kat met Carrie—a college student just two years ahead of her who began meeting with her over coffee. Kat thought she had found a friend. What she discovered was something much more: a mentor who invested deeply in her faith, her leadership, and her understanding of what it means to live on mission. Years later, Kat can see just how much that simple one-on-one investment multiplied. In this episode of Leader to Leader: The Multiplication Factor, Kat shares why Christian leaders don't have to learn every lesson the hard way—and why the voices we allow to speak into our lives can accelerate our growth, sharpen our mission, and help us bear more fruit. “The leadership principles and skills that got me to where I am now, they won't get me to where God needs me to go in the future.” Kat challenges leaders to remain teachable, seek wisdom outside their own perspective, and view honest feedback not as criticism, but as fuel for greater Kingdom impact. How one college mentor shaped Kat's life and leadership Why multiplication often begins with one person investing in another How experienced leaders can help us avoid unnecessary hurdles Why executive coaching can accelerate leadership and mission alignment The danger of relying only on what has worked in the past Why receiving feedback may be one of a leader's most important disciplines What Kat believes the next generation of Kingdom-advancing leaders will have in common The question for every Christian leader: Who is speaking into your leadership—and are you still willing to listen? Kat Armstrong serves as Senior Director of Marketing and Content Development for Integrous Leadership, equipping and encouraging Kingdom-minded leaders to advance the gospel through executive coaching, leadership training, and the Integrous 360 profile. Leader to Leader is a podcast from Christian Leadership Alliance featuring experienced Christian leaders sharing personal stories of how God has multiplied fruit through their lives and leadership. Office Hours with Arthur Brooks - 5 Ways to Find Your Faith

Why do so many people drift from faith in early adulthood, only to feel drawn back to it later in life? In this episode of Office Hours, I explore the Hindu concept of Ashramas and the parallels with what modern science tells us about how our priorities change with age. As we get older, the worldly rewards we once chased can start to feel less satisfying. We begin asking deeper questions about wisdom, meaning, and transcendence. That’s what happens when you enter Vanaprastha—the stage of life when we turn our attention inward. I also share five practical steps for beginning (or rebeginning) your own spiritual journey. —Brought to you by:• Noble Mobile—With Noble, there is only one plan: The No-Bull Plan. Big Swings Only - How to Control Your Hormones Before They Control You — with David JP Phillips

David JP Phillips reveals how to hack your internal chemistry—on demand—to show up with confidence, presence, and power when it matters most. Our Daily Bread Podcast | Our Daily Bread - God’s Rich Provision

After Hurricane Helene’s floodwaters nearly destroyed his small North Carolina town in 2024, a pastor noticed an inspiring pattern. As he struggled to answer the persistent question, “What do you need?” donations kept showing up exactly when he needed them. Phone chargers? Out of the blue, a man drove up with a generator, creating a charging station at the church. Drinking water? Suddenly, pallets of water bottles arrived. Coincidence? The Bible points us to God, not mere happenstance. “My God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). The promise might seem empty to a town nearly demolished by a thirty-foot wall of raging water. But Paul, who was in prison when he offered this encouragement, was no stranger to hardship. Paul was writing to the church in Philippi to thank them for badly needed financial gifts. Except for them, he’d been neglected (v. 15). But God used them to meet his needs. So, His words shined a bright light on God who provided the “riches of His glory” found in Christ Jesus our Savior, in whom we have “every spiritual blessing” (Ephesians 1:3). Joy, peace, truth, salvation are among the needs He richly provides. In kindness as well, He’ll provide a drink of water too, if that’s what we need. What a loving, generous God.

Big Swings Only - Learn to Read Anyone, with Sabine Charles

What if reading people wasn't a gift, but a skill you could actually learn? Dr. Sabine Charles has one of the most unusual resumes you'll hear on this show — she's a former chief audit executive and fraud investigator turned hypnotherapist, and the founder of a leadership framework called MeQ (Mindset, Emotional Intelligence, and Leadership Qualities). As an auditor, her job was to walk into a room and convince skeptical executives to change their minds. As a fraud investigator, people would confess things to her in minutes that they'd hidden from everyone else for hours. Her colleagues started asking: what is she doing differently? If you've ever walked away from a conversation feeling like you just couldn't get through to someone, this episode will change how you think about that problem — and give you a real place to start. Our Daily Bread Podcast | Our Daily Bread - A Marriage Observed

Of all United States presidents, Jimmy Carter had the longest marriage. He and his wife Rosalyn were married for seventy-seven years. When Carter was asked the secret to his long, successful marriage, he replied, “Choose the right person to marry.” Beyond that, he named three other concepts for marital success: reconciliation, communication, and devotion to faith. We see the idea of reconciliation in Ephesians 4:26: “Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry.” The Carters took this seriously. “Every night, we try to make sure we’re completely reconciled from all the arguments during the day,” Jimmy once said. We can see the secret to Christlike communication in Ephesians 4. Paul wrote, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you” (v. 32). God ordained marriage as something good—something established by Him (Genesis 2:24; Hebrews 13:4). Proverbs 18:22 says that marriage is a divine blessing: “He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord.” And the way we treat one another, in marriage and in the entire body of Christ, can encourage and positively affect others. Whether we’re single or married, our words and actions can truly reflect the loving, forgiving heart of Christ.

Big Swings Only - The Guy Who Took ChatGPT to Market is now Warning Us About It.: Zack Kass

Everybody knows ChatGPT. Almost no one knows the person who took it to market. In this episode of Big Swings Only, Kwame Christian sits down with Zack Kass, who spent over a decade at the center of the AI industry and led go-to-market strategy at OpenAI — bringing the technology to hundreds of millions of professionals worldwide. Zack walked away from that career at its peak, driven by a hard truth: technology promised to make life more affordable and instead made housing, healthcare, and education far more expensive, while making distraction and dopamine dirt cheap. In this conversation, he makes the case that people don't actually hate AI — they hate what the last 30 years of screens have done to them — and argues that AI, paired with the right policy choices, could finally deliver on technology's oldest promise: driving down the cost of a good life for everyone, not just the wealthy.

Our Daily Bread Podcast | Our Daily Bread - Awesome God

As a landscape photographer, I’m drawn to photos I find online. Recently I came across “10 of the Most Breathtaking Places in the U.S.” A photo of a geothermal spring depicts a massive basin of multi-colored luminescence.  A snapshot of the Hoh Rain Forest shows a dense mossy forest that looks like something straight out of “The Hobbit.” A stunning picture taken in Monument Valley, Arizona, could be a panorama of Mars. These awesome images make me think of our awesome God. In Psalm 68, David gushes about God’s majesty: “Sing to God . . . extol him who rides on the clouds” (v. 4). Vividly, the psalmist proclaims God’s power over enemies: “May you blow them away like smoke” (v. 2). Yet God’s sheer majesty and power are contrasted with His intimate love: “Praise be to the Lord . . . who daily bears our burdens” (v. 19). David’s epic psalm reaches a climax with his breathless praise: “You, God, are awesome” (v. 35). In landscape photographs, I find both immensity and intimacy. The sheer expanse of these vistas speaks personally to my soul. It makes me wonder if the landscapes of our world are really glimpses of God Himself— reflections of how He’s both awesomely immense and breathtakingly loving. In that light, maybe today we might look for His reflected beauty around us. Maybe today we might whisper to Him, “You, God, are awesome.”

The Emotionally Healthy Leader Podcast - Reversal #3: From Our Best Ideas to Discerning God's Voice

Pre-Order Pete Scazzero's forthcoming book, Emotionally Healthy Success, at www.emotionallyhealthy.org/success and get a free chapter.  For my first seventeen years in ministry, I led for Jesus without listening to him. My prayer life was mostly a list of requests. When a door opened, I walked through it and called it faithfulness, following my best ideas and telling myself it was discernment. In this episode, I walk through the third of four reversals from my new book: the move from our best ideas to discerning God's voice. Even Peter, James, and John struggled here. Peter watched Jesus transfigured on the mountain and responded with a plan: let's build three shelters. God interrupted him mid-sentence. "Listen to him." Not "help him." Not "build for him." Listen. If you've ever assumed your best idea for God was from God, this episode will show you a better way. Discernment isn't a bonus skill for the spiritually elite. It's the difference between leading for Jesus and actually listening to him.Reserve your spot at our upcoming Global Leaders Conference.September 30 – October 1, 202614th St. Salvation Army, NYC(Live Spanish Translation available)Register Now: https://ehd.churchcenter.com/registrations/events/3421612Learn more about the EH Global Leader Conference 2026: http://www.emotionallyhealthy.org/conference

Big Swings Only - A Great Idea Isn’t Enough—Build the Coalition to Make It Real: with Jason Wild & Linda Hill

Your best ideas won’t go anywhere if you don’t know how to build the influence to make them happen. In this episode of Big Swings Only, Harvard Business School professor Linda Hill and innovation leader Jason Wild, co-authors of Genius at Scale, reveal what it really takes to turn ambitious ideas into meaningful change. Their research shows that breakthrough innovation isn’t just about having the right idea—it’s about building the relationships, trust, and coalitions needed to carry that idea across the finish line. Linda and Jason break down how to lead and influence without formal authority, navigate organizational politics without simply “playing politics,” and recognize the sources of power you may already have. They explore why self-awareness is an underrated leadership skill, how to become a “bridger” who works effectively across boundaries, and why the strongest leaders know when to give away credit to build commitment and trust. You’ll also learn how great leaders build coalitions that transform individual efforts into movements—and how people with little authority, budget, or status can still create change at extraordinary scale. From navigating AI-driven uncertainty to leading former peers and having difficult conversations with transparency, this episode offers a practical look at the human side of leadership and innovation. If you have a big idea you want to bring to life, stop waiting for authority to make it happen. Build your influence, find your coalition, and take the swing. Leader2Leader: The Multiplication Factor - L2L The Multiplication Factor - Karen McNary

What does it mean to truly bear fruit for God's Kingdom? In this episode of The Multiplication Factor, Karen McNary shares how God transformed her from someone who simply attended church into a believer whose life is rooted in Scripture. As Chief People Officer at Bible Study Fellowship (BSF), Karen explains why spiritual multiplication begins with a consistent relationship with God's Word and why fruit is always meant for the benefit of others. Karen also reflects on witnessing the remarkable faithfulness of believers around the world, especially in places where Christianity is a minority faith, and encourages Christian leaders to find confidence in God's unchanging Word rather than changing cultural circumstances. Key Themes Fruitfulness is always about serving others, never ourselves. Spiritual growth begins when we move beyond simply attending church to personally engaging with Scripture. Daily time in God's Word allows God not only to be read—but to read us. Leadership multiplication happens by consistently investing in others over time. The global Church often demonstrates extraordinary faithfulness in difficult circumstances. God's Word remains the foundation for hope regardless of cultural change. Christian leaders can face the future confidently because God has always been faithful. Quotes: "A fruit tree is for the benefit of others, not themselves." "It's not just me reading Him—it's Him reading me." "The reason He gifted me has always been for someone else." "God's Word has always been what we need." "Look back to what He's already done, and that gives us hope for what He will do in the present and the future." Timestamp: 00:00 Introduction to The Multiplication Factor 01:03 Karen McNary's role at Bible Study Fellowship 01:27 Helping people discover Jesus through Scripture 01:56 Understanding what spiritual fruit really means 02:47 From church attendance to authentic faith 03:08 The transforming discipline of daily Bible study 03:40 "It's Him reading me"—hearing God's voice through Scripture 04:01 Lessons from serving the global Church 04:46 Faithfulness of believers in India and beyond 05:35 Multiplying disciples through years of leadership 06:49 Hope for Christian leaders in a changing culture 07:41 Looking back at God's faithfulness to face the future Karen McNary serves as Chief People Officer for Bible Study Fellowship (BSF). Having first served as a volunteer leader, she now helps support a global ministry dedicated to helping people encounter Jesus through the study of Scripture. Her passion is seeing lives transformed as believers grow in their understanding of God's Word and multiply that impact in others. Questions: What does "bearing fruit" look like in your own leadership? How has your personal time in Scripture shaped your relationship with God? Are you reading the Bible primarily for information or transformation? Who has invested in your spiritual growth, and who are you investing in? What encourages you most about the global Church today? Our Daily Bread Podcast | Our Daily Bread - Serving God, Not Self

The ancient Egyptian pharaoh Ramesses II thought so much of himself that he had numerous structures served up in his honor, including many monuments that captured his physical features. One, the colossal statue of Ramesses II, stands thirty-six feet tall and weighs eighty-three tons in all its red-granite glory. Age wasn’t kind to the proud ruler, however. In fact, when he died he was suffering from bad teeth, arthritis, and chronic heart problems. Some of his monuments might last for a while, but—like all mortals—he himself passed. Absalom, one of King David’s sons, also built “a monument to himself” (2 Samuel 18:18). Fueled by rage from past tragedy (see ch. 13) and selfish ambition, this younger man worked to steal “the hearts of all the people of Israel” (15:6) from his father. When Absalom attempted to pilfer the throne, however, God did not allow him to overpower David, His anointed king (1 Samuel 16:12-13), and David's fighting men (2 Samuel 18:6). In the end, Absalom was killed for his treachery. Although his monument still stood (v. 18), he died humbled and defeated. Building monuments to ourselves and serving our own pride and desires won’t end well. But as we humbly serve God and love Him well (Philippians 2:3-8), we’ll find true meaning and fulfillment in His presence.
