In this episode, Tyler sits down with Jennifer Wapenski, owner and breeder of the Deutsch Langhaar's. Jennifer is also part of Hunting Dog Confidential and Project Upland.   Jennifer and Tyler discuss the breed and go over what the difference is between German Long Haired Pointers and Deutsch Langhaar's, the requirements/testing set forth by the Germans for breeding, how Jennifer chose the Deutsch Langhaar and more!   The exciting part about the Deutsch Langhaar is that even in the U.S. we are still required to meet the German standards in order to continue breeding under the Deutsch Langhaar name. There are not many litters of pups in the U.S. each year but the nice part is that if you purchase a Deutsch Langhaar, you know it went through extensive testing and met the standards that have been set forth for many many years. Nick and Tyler sit down with Conner, the owner of Great Lakes Guided Outdoors. After graduating college, Conner knew that a job in the outdoors was for him and he took the reins and made it happen. Growing up he would guide people on Turkey hunts. Those turkey hunts started growing into more turkey hunts, which then grew into guided waterfowl hunts. Conner's business is continuing to grow as he builds more relationships with farmers and provides his clients with great hunts. The art of Falconry is something we should all witness. This is as close as you can get to true predator vs prey when it comes to hunting. Jake has been around falconry since he was younger when a few falconers asked to hunt some chickens on his families ranch. Since that moment he has been enthralled with falconry and just this past year he finally took the step forward and trapped his first bird, a red tail hawk. We sit down with Ryan Lommen, also known as Upland Edge on Instagram, from Minnesota and a member of the HuntWise Team. Ryan hunts with a golden retriever and a brittany. Ryan is your everyday type hunter, like many of us including me, and enjoys being out in the uplands watching his dogs work and also spend time hunting with his family. Minnesota is a truly special state, and not on the minds of many upland hunters, when it comes to upland bird opportunities. If you are lucky enough, you could be selected to hunt prairie chickens and if you are willing to head north, you could hunt sharptail grouse. Matt is from the Sandhills of Nebraska and hunts differently than most of us. Matt hunts almost exclusively from horseback and to top that, hunts public lands in many different states. His favorite state to hunt is Wyoming and one of his favorite birds to hunt is the Sage Grouse. Matt has only been hunting from horseback for a few years and has had to learn a lot of things on the fly. Anything from knowing how to lead your horse, navigating the land to try and avoid fences, and more has helped bring him success in the field. We are excited to talk about the American Water Spaniel with Nate and Jamie from Cranbrook Oaks. Nate and Jamie have two American Water Spaniels (Winnie and Rett). They are trained as versatile dogs for the uplands and waterfowl. This is a dog breed we were unfamiliar with but Nate and Jamie have tons of information to provide.
