Summer got busy fast, and Celeste found herself feeling as chaotic on the inside as her schedule looked on the outside. In this devotion, she gets honest about what happens when good things pile up all at once, and walks through two scriptures, Exodus 33:14-15 and Isaiah 26:3, that reframe peace as something you choose rather than something you feel. It's a short, personal reminder that even good busyness can quietly pull your focus off God if you let it.📖 Scriptures referenced: Exodus 33:14-15, Isaiah 26:3🎪 We'll be at Geek'd Con in Shreveport, Louisiana this August! There's a kind of confusion that hits when you've been away from something you love for too long. That's where Dallas and Celeste found themselves this week, trying to catch up on Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War before heading to see "The Calamity" in theaters, and realizing how much they'd forgotten. In this episode, Dallas walks through that experience and connects it to a story from 2 Kings 22, where King Josiah rediscovers the Book of the Law after generations of neglect, and to anyone who's ever come back to faith carrying assumptions instead of Scripture. The episode is a call to go back to the source, whether that's a story you love or the Word you've drifted from.🎬 Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity is in theaters now through Fathom Entertainment's limited theatrical event (June 25–29, 2026).Question of the Week: What's a series, or a season of faith, you've had to go back to the beginning to really understand again? There are moments in faith where the path forward is unclear, and all we can do is trust. This episode features the message Dallas preached at The Healing Place (www.thpshreveport.com) during their online gathering, continuing the Names of God series with a teaching on Jehovah Jireh — "the Lord will provide." Walking through Genesis 22 and the binding of Isaac, Dallas unpacks why the ram in the thicket means more than we usually realize, and what it costs to put something on the altar.⛪️ This message was originally preached at The Healing Place's online gathering: https://www.thpshreveport.comQuestion of the Week: What's something you've had to lay on the altar and trust God with? Have you ever read a modern retelling of a classic book, like Pride and Prejudice, and felt it completely missed the point? Today on Geek Devotions, we're talking about why context changes everything, both in our favorite literature and when we study Scripture! In this episode, Celeste shares her honest (and maybe a little brutal) thoughts on the 2013 retelling, Eligible. We dive into why removing a story from its original timeframe can completely change its core message, and discuss the big difference between seeing yourself in a story versus projecting your own prejudices onto it. More importantly, we explore how this exact same "retelling" problem happens when we open our Bibles without looking at the historical context.Question of the Week: What is your LEAST favorite retelling of a classic story? (We're looking at you, modern Wuthering Heights adaptations...) Let’s talk about it in the comments! Over the last six months, I've been reading an Elseworlds Batman story where Bruce accidentally creates six shadow monsters out of his own brokenness. But it turned into a huge lesson about facing the things we run from.In this episode, we're talking about issue six of Immortal Legends Batman. Bruce Wayne tries to distance himself from his personal weakness, but it backfires, creating literal shadow monsters that tarnish his name. Is your spiritual walk "utterly uninteresting," or is it a journey of growth? In this episode, Celeste dives into the finale of Drew Hayes' Fred the Vampire Accountant series to look at how a character goes from meek and mild to a confident leader.Using 1 Corinthians 13:11, we discuss the vital difference between having a childlike faith and staying in childish ignorance. Real growth isn't usually about flashy moments—it's about the unflashy, daily disciplines that change how we react to the world around us.Time Stamps00:00 – Drew Hayes' Fred the Vampire Accountant: A Series Review.00:37 – Character Arcs: How Fred goes from Meek to Leader.01:47 – The Biblical Mandate for Maturity and Growth.02:16 – 1 Corinthians 13:11: Putting away childish ways in your faith.02:58 – How to stop being a "child" in your spiritual life.03:19 – The difference between Childlike Faith and Spiritual Immaturity.03:53 – Simple Habits for Spiritual Growth: Prayer and Scripture.04:26 – The Reaction Test: How to measure your maturity.05:03 – Overcoming struggles with Anger and Scripture Memorization.06:03 – Question of the Week: One small step for your faithKey TakeawaysGrowth is a Process: Just as Fred changes over the span of years in the book series, our faith requires time and intention to mature.Don't Stay Ignorant: We cannot remain in the same state of "not knowing" that we were in when we first came to Christ. We must push ourselves to learn biblical accuracy.Check Your Reactions: A major marker of spiritual maturity is emotional regulation. If you are struggling with the same anger or reactions you had a year ago, it's time to find a biblical way to move past it.Question of the WeekWhat is one small step you can take this week to grow in your faith? We aren't looking for giant leaps like preaching on a street corner—we're looking for commitments like reading the Bible for 7 days straight or dedicating time to prayer.Let us know your answer in the comments or on our social media!💙 THANK YOU TO OUR PATRONS We are so thankful to our Devoted Patreon Geeks who help make this ministry possible: Ruiz Family, Adam Arciniega, Branson Boykin, Nerd Chapel, Jacob Russell, Jeffrey Leon, Jonathan Herrman, Kevin Lovelace, Lady Lomax, Paul Turner, Paul J Powers, Savie Wilson, The Cel Cast, Monster Island Film Vault — and so many more.Thank you for your continued support! In today's episode, we dive into the brand-new sequel series, Yoroi Shin Den Samurai Troopers (famously known to many as Ronin Warriors), to explore the shocking origin of the new Red Trooper, Gui. We discuss Dallas' theory on how Gui’s journey from a corrupted "demon prince" to a human hero serves as a powerful reminder that no matter your past, you are never beyond the reach of redemption.Key Takeaways from Today’s Devotion:Your Past Does Not Define Your Future: Just as Gui was liberated from demon energy to become who he was truly meant to be, 2 Corinthians 5:17 reminds us that in Christ, the old has passed away and the new has come.Gifts Can Be Redeemed: The enemy may try to corrupt or bury the "gifting" and "special calling" on your life through past trauma or bad environments, but those gifts can be reclaimed and used for great things.Walking in New Identity: Redemption often involves an internal conflict between an "old mindset" and your true purpose; choosing to walk in humility and grace allows God to soften hearts and rebuild what was lost.Question of the WeekWe want to hear from you! Waiting for the next episode of an anime like Sentenced to Be a Hero can be frustrating, but what if that "in-between" time is actually an opportunity for growth? Join us as we look at Jeremiah 29 to discover how to stay productive and prepare for the future, even when the wait feels crushing. In this episode:- Don't Waste the Wait: Just as God commanded the Israelites to build and plant during their captivity, we are called to "put our hand to the plow" and work diligently during our own seasons of waiting.- Community Sustains Passion: Silence kills excitement; sharing what we love with our community keeps our passion alive and prepares the environment for when the wait is finally over.- Legacy Over Instant Gratification: sometimes our preparation isn't just for us—we may be clearing the ground for the next generation to experience the fruition of the promises we are working toward.❓ Question of the Week: What anime coming out this season are you absolutely loving right now? In this episode of Geek Devotions, Celeste looks at Predator Badlands and the struggle Dek faces as he tries to prove himself. His story lines up with something many of us deal with every day. We push so hard to be strong that we forget weakness is part of being human. This devotion digs into what Scripture says about God’s strength showing up in our weakness and why leaning on community matters more than we admit. If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, dealing with self doubt, or wondering how faith fits into those moments, this conversation may help you rethink what weakness actually means. We talk about Christian encouragement, relying on others, and finding hope even when life feels heavier than it should.Timestamps:00:00 – Why Weakness Matters (Predator: Badlands Illustration)01:10 – Welcome Back from Louisiana Delta Con01:33 – Why It’s Hard to Admit We’re Weak02:34 – We All Mess Up02:38 – What Paul Says About Weakness (Scripture)03:06 – When I Am Weak, Then I Am Strong04:00 – You Haven’t Failed Too Much for God04:13 – New Episodes on The Bottom Shelf and We Read Allegedly04:24 – How You Can Support Geek Devotions04:37 – Final Encouragement and Sign-Off💙 THANK YOU TO OUR PATRONSWe are so thankful to our Devoted Patreon Geeks who help make this ministry possible:Ruiz Family, Adam Arciniega, Lady Lommax, Paul Turner, Jacob Russell, Mike Alderman, Nerd Chapel, Monster Island Film Vault, PaulJPowers.com, Michael Manacci, The Cel Cast, Savie Wilson, John Harju, Kevin Lovelace, Branson Boykin, Leah Miller, Brianna Sheagley — and so many more.Thank you for your continued support!🙌 SUPPORT GEEK DEVOTIONSWant to help us keep doing what we do? Each week, we use geek pop culture—movies, video games, anime, and comics—to share hope and encouragement rooted in the love of Christ. In this episode, we dive into "Predator Badlands" and the journey of Dek, the smallest of his Predator tribe. This story highlights a fascinating crossover with Weyland's son, offering a fresh take on the "alien vs predator" universe. It’s a compelling look at the "predator franchise" and its broader connection to the "alien franchise", exploring themes of weakness and strength within a "sci-fi" context.

In Tron: Ares, we hear Flynn tell Ares that the "Permanence Code" should really be called the "Impermanence Code." This idea struck a chord with us. We only get one life to live on this side of eternity, and James 4:13-15 reminds us just how brief it is. In this week's episode of Geek Devotions, Celeste digs into what Tron: Ares: can teach us about living without regret, sharing our faith boldly, and making the most of everyday we've been given.THANK YOU TO OUR PATRONSWe are so thankful to our Devoted Patreon Geeks who help make this ministry possible: Ruiz Family, Adam Arciniega, Lady Lommax, Paul Turner, Jacob Russell, Mike Alderman, Nerd Chapel, Monster Island Film Vault, PaulJPowers.com, Michael Manacci, The Cel Cast, Savie Wilson, John Harju, Kevin Lovelace, Branson Boykin, Leah Miller, Brianna Sheagley — and so many more.Thank you for your continued support!SUPPORT GEEK DEVOTIONSWant to help us keep doing what we do? What do you do when you mess up—big time? In the anime Gachiakuta, Rudo makes a mistake he instantly regrets, and instead of being condemned, he’s met with unexpected grace. And as believers, we’re called to extend that same grace to others—not to be doormats, but to live more like Christ every day.If you’ve ever struggled with regret, shame, or wondering if God could still love you… this devotion is for you.📖 Scripture: Ephesians 2:8–10👾 Anime: Gachiakuta (aka “The Trash Anime”)✨ New here?
