Episode 69 - GenX Speaks Series: Gina Scott Williams - GenX Gina66

What would you do if, at 19, you discovered the man who raised you wasn't your biological father, and that everyone in your family had known your whole life?  That's the secret Gina Scott Williams stumbled onto in her mother's nightstand, and it's just the beginning of a candid, funny and moving conversation that is filled with authenticity. You may know her as the beloved GenX Gina66, a GenX digital creator with over a million followers who turned "Your Mom" jokes and the typical GenX fluency of sarcasm into a thriving social media community.  But before the fame, there was a complicated Texas childhood that included a father who'd done prison time, a family built on secrets and silence and years of quietly wrestling with ADHD and anxiety. In this episode, Gina opens up about the ups and downs of her childhood, finding her voice later in life and building a brand based on humor and integrity, instead of perfection.  She shares how a single viral video launched her creator career, how she learned to know her worth in brand deals, and how Sherri Dindal, aka The Real Slim Sherri, invited her to be part of a dream-come-true opportunity as a member of the entertainment on the upcoming GenX Takeover Cruise in 2027.  Gina also openly shares about her mental health struggles, as well as the importance of sharing your story without shame.  It's a story about secrets, self-acceptance, reinvention and proving that GenX women are just getting started.  We know this episode will resonate with many listeners and GenX Gina66 fans alike.  We loved every minute of our time with Gina and look forward to spending time with her again in the future!Check Gina Out Here:Website: https://linktr.ee/genxgina#424757512TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@genxgina66?_r=1&_t=ZT-96PlyCiARDBInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/genxgina66?igsh=eHlrYmVkZGs2Ynpr&utm_source=qr  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/share/1EucBvG3FP/?mibextid=wwXIfr  Check Us Out Here:https://genxadultingpodcast.com/Got a question for Gina or a story of your own?  Drop it in the comments🔔 Subscribe for more real stories, real people and real conversations.#genx #generationx #texas #digitalcreator #contentcreator #genxtakeovercruise #family #marriage #divorce #parenting #latchkey #adhd #anxiety #mentalhealth #womenshealth #fame #impostersyndrome #authenticity #interview #story #inspiration #inspire #humor #funnyCheck us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family

Episode 66 - GenX Speaks Series: Tracy Collins - Behavior Specialist

In this episode, we welcome Behavior Specialist Tracy Collins, who shares her remarkable and deeply personal journey, which begins in The Barossa Valley of South Australia.  Tracy reflects on her father’s military service and how his experiences later inspired her to study PTSD and how it relates to military families. Our conversation explores a wide range of topics surrounding ADHD, including its impact on perimenopause and menopause, rejection sensitivity, anxiety, depression, hormonal changes, burnout and the complex relationship many people develop with food.  Tracy’s insight brings clarity to issues that are often misunderstood or overlooked. She also opens up about a pivotal moment in her early adulthood, when a Tony Robbins book she discovered in a bookstore’s self‑help section helped guide her out of a dark period.  That turning point led her into a career as a hairstylist and eventually the owner of an Aveda Salon and Spa.  Later, while married and raising her children, a spontaneous decision to apply to be a contestant on the reality show MasterChef dramatically altered the course of her life.  After surviving multiple rounds of elimination, she spent months sequestered from her family and the outside world, an intense experience she thankfully didn’t have to repeat when she returned for a later season. From there, Tracy’s path led to opening the successful restaurant Harvest Kitchen, and ultimately to university, where she pursued a PhD in cognitive neuroscience. Our conversation with Tracy was wonderfully wide‑ranging.  We discussed men’s emotional development, the importance of healing and self‑understanding as we enter new phases of life, and the growing need to spread awareness about hormone replacement therapy.  We also discussed dementia and its risk factors.  Tracy’s depth of knowledge and her ability to communicate complex ideas with clarity made this episode especially enlightening. We learned so much from Tracy and know that many listeners will find her story not only inspiring but also validating and genuinely helpful.  We look forward to welcoming her back in the future to explore these topics even further.Check Tracy Out Here:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/tracyleecollins/?hl=enFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/tracy.collins.7902#adhd #add #mentalhealth #womenshealth #anxiety #depression #neuroscience #ptsd #psychology #foodnoise #military #australia #barossavalley #trauma #childhoodtrauma #parenting #marriage #divorce #motherhood #hormones #perimenopause #menopause #midlife #selfhelp #masterchef #realitytv #aveda #restaurant #smallbusiness #smallbusinessowner #growthmindset #phd #hrt #hormonereplacementtherapy #dementia #innerchildhealing #healing #healingjourney #burnoutCheck us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family

Episode 62 - GenX Speaks Series: Amy Scruggs - Nashville Recording Artist

In this episode, we welcome Nashville recording artist and media coach Amy Scruggs. Amy takes us back to her GenX childhood just outside Los Angeles, where she enjoyed the classic unsupervised bike‑riding freedom of the era—yet grew up in a small, sheltered bubble within her community. With limited exposure to the wider world, she turned to the music, movies, and TV of the 80s to understand life beyond her neighborhood. Music quickly became her outlet: she discovered the piano, joined choir, and found a sense of identity through performance. An unplanned pregnancy at seventeen changed her trajectory, but Amy’s determination opened doors. She landed a dream job that allowed her to perform while also providing stability for her and her son. Marriage and two more boys followed as she embraced stay‑at‑home motherhood—until life shifted again. After her divorce, Amy stepped into a sales role that offered security as a single mom, and at the same time, an unexpected opportunity to become the lead singer of a band emerged.A chance encounter in Nashville would eventually spark a remarkable new chapter, but not before Amy toured with her band and poured her heart into supporting the veteran community. Another curveball came her way, yet once again she rose to the challenge—ultimately becoming a television host and later a Nashville recording artist with her single “What If It All Goes Right.”  She also became the mother to a beautiful baby girl, who officially completed the family.Amy also shares, with honesty and grace, what it was like to become a full‑time caregiver for her father during his battle with Alzheimer’s. Her perspective and resilience deeply moved us. We also explore perimenopause, menopause, and how GenX is redefining aging through what Amy calls “Legacy Living.”Her story is a powerful blend of perseverance, love, grit, and that signature GenX scrappiness. Episode 60 - GenX Speaks Series: Kim Muench - Parent Coach

In this episode we welcome Kim Muench, Parent Coach and Founder of Real Life Parent Guide.  Kim shares about her upbringing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and how her anxiety as a child was severely exacerbated as a result of multiple moves that included bouncing between public and Catholic school.  We reflect on 80s heartthrobs like Jake Ryan from 16 Candles, and how GenX girls were sold completely unrealistic relationship goals.  We also relate over the fact that GenX rarely got carded for alcohol, and as a result found themselves in dive bars or purchasing alcohol from local convenience stores at very young ages.  An unexpected pregnancy during her freshman year at University of Wisconsin - La Crosse changed the trajectory of Kim’s life, as she found herself a young mother at the age of 18.  Kim’s perseverance in escaping an abusive relationship and creating a new life as a single mom to her young son led her on the path to meeting her husband of 34 years who is also father to four of her children.  As their family grew over the years, Kim was faced with the reality of raising a child who suffered from addiction.  Kim candidly shares her journey with her son as he entered rehab, lost his father and encountered run-ins with the law.  This part of her story is shared in her book - “Becoming Me While Raising You: A Mother’s Journey to Herself”.  Through sharing her parenting experience, Kim grew a following on social media where for years she has been offering guidance and advice on parenting emerging adults.  Kim truly understands the tools parents need to collaborate with their adult children in a way that will foster a partnership of understanding and respect.  Through Kim’s vast insight, parents are able to take a few steps back to gain better perspective using Kim’s protocol of the “Four C’s - Clear, Calm, Confidence and Consistent” along with an understanding of the three things they can truly control.  Kim’s second book, “Lost In Place: How To Motivate, Support and Launch an Adult Child”, is due to release in November 2026.  “Lost In Place” is Kim’s version of the term “Failure to Launch”, with the premise of if you’re lost you can always be found.  This episode dives deep into parenting adult children and touches on so many aspects of parenting in general.  Couple that with Kim’s inspiring story that she shares so openly and graciously and you have an episode not to be missed!  We loved having Kim on and learned so much about our own parenting style.  We look forward to having her back as a return guest in the future!Find Kim Here:TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@kimmuenchparentcoachInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/kimmuenchparentcoach/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/share/1666oUvnmh/?mibextid=wwXIfr#parenting #parents #motherhood #mother #mom #family #marriage #divorce #pregnancy #therapy #advice #guidance #inspire #anxiety #addiction #rehab #alcoholism #alcoholic #healing #genz #failuretolaunch #youngadult #emergingadult #collaboration #socialmedia #mentalhealth #mentalhealthjourney #interview #lifestory #wisconsin #texas #genx #podcast #generationxCheck us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family

Episode 58 - The Silent Generation - Sharon

In this episode we are excited to host our first guest from the Silent Generation.  Sharon candidly and openly shares her inspiring life story.  We learn about her great-grandparent's adventures during the Oklahoma Land Rush, and how her great-grandfather arrested Jesse James and The Dalton Boys when he was a sheriff in Kansas.  Their move to Oregon in the early 1900s secured a Portland, Oregon upbringing for future generations.  We discuss WWII, and the resulting affects of PTSD on the men who fought and how that affected women and family life going forward.  Sharon shares about her childhood which was rooted in responsibility, change and for a period, silent trauma.  We cover the concept of abuse as a child as well as abuse within a marriage.  Sharon reflects on a time where she sought therapy in any form presented, whether it was through reading, research or even through the prison system that her brother flowed in and out of as he battled addiction.  Through her own sheer strength and sense of hope that she was deserving of a better life, she cleverly and quietly escaped her abusive marriage.  Sharon shares her heartbreaking experience of her daughter going no contact, and expresses it with a grace and vulnerability that can only be described as a gift of understanding to anyone who can relate to the sheer pain a mother must process in such a distorted situation.  As Sharon herself put it, “I was trying very hard to come to a reasonable explanation for an unreasonable situation.”  We learn about how, post-divorce, she finished her degree in one year by taking an overload of classes, and how a one-way ticket to southern California for a new position was the transitional moment into securing herself a new journey midlife.  We learn about her work with TIP, Trauma Intervention Program, and how she used her own traumatic experiences in life to simply be an anchor for people when they were in the midst of sudden tragedy.  One common theme throughout our conversation was that Sharon’s grandmother was her anchor, and there’s probably no measure to how far her influence reached in Sharon’s life.  Sharon shares about her years living in Arizona, and eventual return to Oregon to live near her beloved son, family and the Pacific Northwest.  As stated earlier, this is an episode that will inspire, plain and simple.  You truly don’t want to miss this one!  In closing, we’ll quote Sharon once again, “I don’t do negative, what’s the point?”#inspire #inspiration #lifestory #interview #storytime #silentgeneration #WWII #boomer #family #marriage #divorce #trauma #abuse #wildwest #portland #oregon #ptsd #eldestdaughter #addiction #narcissism #alcoholism #midlife #nocontact #therapy #volunteer #advice #growth #courage #wisdom Check us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family

In this episode we welcome Nick Harrison - The Professor.  Nick shares about growing up in Northern Louisiana, where he was surrounded by a loving and supportive family.  Houston, Texas also played a positive role in his early years when he would spend time with his father and family there.  His formative years included the typical GenX childhood of being outside until the streetlights came on, Boy Scouts, The National Beta Club, choir and even an early attempt at stand-up comedy.  High school brought Nick an opportunity to be his school’s mascot, which included attending cheerleading camp.  Nick shares how MTV played a pivotal role in his love of music, and how he “has rhythm but can’t dance”.  After graduation, he attended Grambling State University, where he pursued his dream of performing by becoming a theater major.  Post-college, Nick gave back to his theater community at Grambling State by becoming a professor in the theater department.  Seven years later, he shifted to teaching 5th grade, and it was during those years where Nick discovered social media.  In a whirlwind, Nick found his audience, and they found him.  His mixture of authenticity, fun and kindness combined with a vibe that can easily be summed up as happiness, struck a chord with thousands of people.  Before he knew it, he had 1 million followers on TikTok, with Instagram and Facebook to follow.  A call from WWE was a dream come true, and resulted in a stint with WWE in New Orleans.  That was also the week he had his first date with his wife.  An opportunity to be a contestant on a reality show led to spending the day with Jay Leno discussing cars.  The ultimate collaboration with fellow GenX personalities Sherri Dindal - The Real Slim Sherri, Kelly Manno and Jon Wellington - The Dadbod Veteran, resulted in Nick’s current project, The GenX Takeover Tour.  2025 brought comedian/host Justin Rupple and musician Jojo Malagar to the mix, and together they took the show on the road and even a cruise!  2026 already has 26 shows booked!  Along with his co-stars, Nick brings the talent and positivity his fans have loved to the stage, where he can continue to connect with them on an even larger scale.  We absolutely loved our time with Nick and look forward to seeing him again at one of the shows.  Until then, Go Bills!Check Nick Out Here:GenX Takeover Tour: https://genxtakeover.com/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@mrprofessor318?_r=1&_t=ZP-937YTBuMVGJInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/mrprofessor318?igsh=b2d0czgxeWFyb200&utm_source=qr  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/share/1FUY4NpQJX/?mibextid=wwXIfr  X: https://x.com/mrprofessor318?s=21&t=Rn-6MEmA7Xg31k0vpa80XA  Threads: https://www.threads.com/@mrprofessor318?igshid=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==Online Store: https://26shirts.com/collections/official-nick-harrison-collection?srsltid=AfmBOor6P15GvKhINzgiAR7-ZoW2DPA_ywv6MtTiNMJ0aDb9IFDhM2Gk  #werocktogether #theprofessor #music #rock #comedy #genxtakeover #interview #dancing #singing #genxtalks Check us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family

Episode 56 - Pelvic Organ Prolapse

In this episode Nicole shares her experience navigating through her pelvic organ prolapse journey.  We discuss the vital need of pelvic floor therapy for women.  Nicole shares about her struggle with fibroids and bleeding, which ultimately resulted in a hysterectomy in 2020.  She reflects on when she first noticed symptoms of prolapse, and the steps she needed to take to receive an official diagnosis and treatment.  We discuss her first appointment with her urogynecologist, which included a procedure called a video cystoscopy.  Nicole candidly shares about her second appointment, which was for urodynamic testing that included a filling cystometry, pressure flow study, uroflowmetry and electromyography.  Under her doctor’s guidance Nicole has chosen a surgical path to correct and repair her pelvic organ prolapse.  This choice was made after extensive research and a second opinion from a different urogynecologist.  The procedure, called a Sacralcolpopexy, uses a synthetic mesh to attach the top of the vagina to the sacrum (tailbone).  Nicole will also be having a perineorrhaphy done to further repair and support her pelvic floor.  Nicole discloses that she has three pre-op appointments scheduled before she’s cleared for surgery, and she will share with listeners details of each appointment.  She will also share about her surgical experience and recovery.  It is in the hopes of sharing her journey that she will help other women who may be dealing with some form of prolapse, as well as educate women about the importance of pelvic floor therapy, whether they’ve had children or not.#prolapse #pelvicorganprolapse #pelvicfloortherapy #pelvicfloorhealth #pelvicfloor #sacralcolpopexy #perineorrhaphy #urodynamictesting #rectocele #surgery #mesh #laparoscopic #robotic #pregnancy #childbirth #menopause #constipation #urinaryincontinence #endocrinologist #insurance #medicalinsurance #womenempowerment #women #womenshealth #womenhealth #woman #childbirth #mother #motherhoodCheck us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family

Episode 55 - The Labor of The Holiday Season

In this episode Nicole and Brian discuss the division of labor during the holiday season.  From Halloween to Thanksgiving to Christmas, Nicole explains how each holiday is a combination of organization, planning, tradition and expense that creates three layers of labor that almost exist simultaneously from August to December.  Brian and Nicole reflect on how some of their childhood traditions of Halloween changed by the time they became parents, and how today’s Halloween traditions continue to amplify.  Nicole shares the perspective of the planning and effort required to host Thanksgiving, and how the buffer week between Thanksgiving and the beginning of December has seemed to disappear.  She offers her thoughts and opinions on why she believes women are the creators of the “Magic of Christmas”, and how important it is that their partners be mindful of offering support through the season, even if it’s a simple, “How can I help?”  They advise the younger generations to communicate about the division of labor during the holidays and how GenX needs to continue to share their wisdom on the subject.  This episode covers the reality of the expectations that are mainly shouldered by women during the holiday season, and offers insight into how a partner can be pivotal when it comes to the mental health of the magic maker of the family.#christmas #holidayseason #halloween #thanksgiving #holidays #newyears #mom #family #marriage #relationship #tradition #traditions #work #magic #partner #mentalhealth #decorate #decor #epiphany #christmaslights #holiday #stress #grind #santa #santaclaus #wrap #shopping #cooking #baking #planning Check Us Out Here:https://www.genxadultingpodcast.com/Check us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family

Episode 54 - GenX Speaks Series: Denise Conde - The Valor of Generation X

In this episode we welcome Denise Conde, author of “The Valor of Generation X: How the Courageous Are Finding a New Path to Growth and Love”.  Denise graciously and candidly shares about her upbringing, where she suffered physical, mental, emotional and narcissistic abuse from both of her parents.  Denise shares about learning sign language in the darkness of the bedroom she shared with her sister who is deaf, as they communicated in silence about the fighting going on upstairs in their home.  After high school, Denise left home for college, and hence began her eight year journey of running from her parents all while working to get her bachelor's degree.  Marriage and motherhood followed, as did a fulfilling career as a special education teacher.  Divorce brought new changes, including finding love and marrying again.  After her father’s death ratcheted up her mother’s narcissistic abuse, Denise eventually made the decision to go no contact as she embarked on an incredible healing journey.  From that journey “The Valor of Generation X” was born, as well as a set of courses customized to coincide with the book.  The tools of healing Denise shares are invaluable, and she offers great insight as we discuss each one.  We learn about the importance of tailored meditation and how the nervous system is connected to our subconscious, which significantly contributes to how we are hard wired.  She offers concrete information to help someone in search of taking the first steps of their own healing journey, while never forgetting the importance of explaining the why.  We truly admire Denise for her strength, but also for her prioritization of peace and calm.  We were honored she was so open in sharing what was assuredly some of the most painful moments of her life.  We know this episode will resonate and be very helpful to many.Purchase "The Valor of Generation X" from Amazon Here:https://amzn.to/4aUJQTFCheck Denise Out Here:TikTok:  https://www.tiktok.com/@valorofgenerationx?_t=ZP-8xYyTVti8pq&_r=1Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/your.valor/?igsh=NW44aXJndTB0dTRw&utm_source=qr#  Check Us Out Here:https://www.genxadultingpodcast.com/#genx #genxtalks #over40 #over50 #marriage #divorce #narcissist #abusesurvivors #narcissism #narcissisticabuse #healing #meditation #soundbath #therapy #motherhood #college #specialeducation  #teacher #author #books #courage #childhood #deaf #signlanguage #asl #nocontact #boundaries #menopause #genz #millennials #forgiveness #somatichealing #nervoussystem #frequencyhealing #mentalhealth #generationxCheck us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family

Episode 52 - GenX Speaks Series: Artist Coco Mase

In this episode we welcome artist Coco Mase.  Coco shares about her upbringing in northwest New Jersey, where she was surrounded by all forms of art from a very early age.  Years of dance through her formative years exposed Coco to life in New York City, which offered her a balance to her life in the suburbs.  We discuss the differences and similarities between classical and competitive dance, and her eventual shift away from dance at the end of high school in order to pursue other artistic interests.  Acceptance into NYU came with its pros and cons, and a pivot to attending University of the Arts in Philadelphia ended up being a perfect fit.  Coco reflects on her journey through various art mediums and how always being open to saying yes to new opportunities guided her growth as an artist.  We cover Coco’s involvement in the fashion industry in New York City post-college, and the transition into marriage and starting a family in the suburbs.  Coco graciously shares her grief journey of losing her younger brother when he was 21, and Nicole and Brian in turn share some of their own experiences in grief from losing their fathers.  Returning to performing became part of Coco’s healing journey, all while balancing being a mother to three young children.  Not surprisingly, her next chapter was becoming an art teacher, something she still does to this day.  We loved hearing about Coco’s perspective and experiences as a teacher.  Her love for her students shines through, and it’s obvious that she is a gift to her school community.  Coco shares her life changing directorial debut of Cabaret, and how she has immersed herself in her art studio.  Whether it’s menopause or aging or plastic surgery or grey hair, we cover many of the challenges GenX women are facing midlife.  Finally, we learn about Coco’s upcoming one woman show, which is a photo essay based on the story “Anonymous Girl”.  We were incredibly mesmerized and touched by Coco’s interpretation of this precious girl’s story, and we know it will resonate and touch the hearts of anyone who is lucky enough to attend the show.  We absolutely loved our time with Coco and truly enjoyed going on the journey of her story.  We hope to attend one of her shows in person in the future!Check Us Out Here:https://www.genxadultingpodcast.com/#art #artist #dance #dancer #photography #photographer #teacher #college #nyu #philadelphia #menopause #aging #motherhood #mother #family #fashion #music #growth #loss #grief #healing #youthsports #faith #ai #newyorkcity #nyc #performing #theater Check us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family

Episode 51 - GenX Speaks Series: Wes Alford - Hiking for Hope

In this episode we welcome Wes Alford, founder of the nonprofit Hiking for Hope.  Wes shares about his childhood growing up in Oregon on a farm raising livestock and training horses.  Wes reflects on how most of his adolescence was spent involved with the court and juvenile system in Oregon until he enlisted in the Army at 18.  Participation in the Job Corps led to his first job at a collection agency, which was the beginning of his career in finance.  A move to Arizona offered him an opportunity in the mortgage industry in addition to getting married and starting a family.  After divorcing he stepped onto the Pacific Crest Trail for the first time and had a completely life changing experience.  Wes started the trail as an alcoholic and smoker, in addition to being overweight.  He ended his hike 65 pounds lighter and hasn’t touched alcohol or smoked since.  That experience was part of the inspiration behind Hiking for Hope.  The other inspiration came from two of his children being diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes, which led to Hiking for Hope’s mission.  Wes has planned a 12,000 mile hike in America to spread Diabetes and mental health awareness.  Wes and his two sons started the hike in March 2025 and had a very eventful month that included getting hit with such a bad storm that Search and Rescue was called, his sons having to return home early, Wes continuing the hike solo but suffering an accident that resulted in two torn rotator cuffs and some of his teeth getting knocked out, and finally, Wes unknowingly suffering a heart attack for about 6 days on trail.  He plans on picking back up on Hiking for Hope’s 12,000 mile trek in early 2026.  Wes also shares his ultimate goal of being able to take underserved individuals onto the Pacific Crest Trail to have their own unique and life changing experience.  We were so inspired by Wes’s story, and how he not only broke the cycle of generational trauma with his own four children, but how he transformed his life into something so meaningful.  We encourage everyone to follow Hiking for Hope so you can track Wes’s progress as he hikes those 12,000 miles to help others.  Check Out Hiking For Hope Here:https://hikingforhope.com/https://hikingforhope.com/merchandiseTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@hikingforhope2025?_t=ZT-90HbfV4fG4d&_r=1  IG: https://www.instagram.com/hikingforhope2025?igsh=Z3JnZXdjc2d1ZHcw&utm_source=qr  YouTube: https://youtube.com/@hikingforhope2025?si=eXH59y-CeB3eoFel  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/share/19tmNqngzT/?mibextid=wwXIfr  Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/wesley-alford-2597b8177?utm_source=share&utm_campaign=share_via&utm_content=profile&utm_medium=ios_appCheck Us Out Here:https://genxadultingpodcast.com/#hiking #hike #trail #pacificcresttrail #diabetes #mentalhealth #hikingforhope #genx #genxtalks #over50 #over40 #interview #military #finance #family #marriage #divorce #dad #father #nonprofit #army #juvenilesystem #oregon #farm #farmlife #livestock #horses Check us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family

Episode 50 - The Millennials - Dr. Amber Parks - Stress and Burnout Coach for Vet Professionals

In this episode we welcome Dr. Amber Parks - Stress and Burnout Coach for Vet Professionals.  We learn about her childhood growing up in Worcester, Massachusetts with her parents and older sister.  Amber reflects on playing alto saxophone as a kid in addition to participating in dance up until high school, where she made the switch to field hockey.  Her grandfather’s long term illness exposed Amber to the medical field, which sparked an interest that led to veterinary medicine.  She was hired by a veterinary hospital her senior year in high school, and thus began her veterinary medicine journey.  Amber shares about her undergraduate years at University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she balanced a rigorous academic load and busy social life combined with the competitive pressure of getting into veterinary school.  Shortly before graduation, she received the exciting news that she was accepted into Tuskegee University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, which leads us to a discussion of the competitive nature of veterinary school and the sober reality of how many undergraduates actually get accepted.  Amber shares about life in veterinary school, which moves at a rapid pace and seems to be in perpetual motion.  Accepting a position shortly after graduation kicked off Amber’s career in veterinary medicine, that included becoming a medical director in addition to heading out on her own to do field work.  We dive deep into the professional and personal experience of what it is truly like to be a veterinarian, and the absolute grind it not only requires but demands.  We touch on how corporate involvement in veterinary medicine is changing the landscape for seasoned doctors, patients and new doctors fresh out of veterinary school.  Amber shares the moment she knew she was done working in her current role and what led her to change the trajectory of her future in veterinary medicine to one of helping her peers in dealing with the stress and burnout that tends to go hand in hand with it.  Amber offers her clients effective guidance, support, tools and techniques to identify, heal and resolve the dark place that stress and burnout creates.  We cover imposter syndrome and how our subconscious can undermine our life experience and even cause us to lean into self-sabotage.  Amber also touches on how perfectionism and lack of conflict resolution skills lead to burnout.  Amber’s insightful approach of helping her clients “peel back” their layers slowly through their healing process surely is one of her more effective tools as she supports and guides them.  We truly enjoyed Amber’s story and learned so much about the veterinary world.  We have a newfound respect for people who choose to follow the path of veterinary medicine and view Amber as an invaluable asset to the veterinary profession as a whole.  We encourage anyone who is suffering from stress and burnout to reach out to Amber, but especially those involved with veterinary medicine.Check Amber Out Here:https://www.thestressandburnoutcoach.com/https://www.instagram.com/dr.amberparks/https://www.facebook.com/amber.parks.7731Check Us Out Here:https://genxadultingpodcast.com/#veterinarian #veterinarymedicine #stress #burnout #trauma #pets #impostersyndrome #umassamherst #tuskegeeuniversity #florida #vet #coach #highachiever #therapy #corporate #veterinaryschool #confrontation #selfsabotage #genx #millennials #interview #podcast #xennial #perfectionism Check us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family

In this episode we welcome Coach Whitney Kell, a fellow GenXer and high school classmate of Nicole.  Whitney shares about her upbringing in Portland, Oregon that included her parents divorce, remarriages and living part of her childhood with her dad and the other part with her mom.  Substance abuse showed up early in Whitney’s life, and continued until she got clean at 21.  Seven years later she gave up alcohol after losing her mother.  Whitney graciously opens up about the impact giving up alcohol had on her life, and also reflects on how plant medicine has guided her.  We learn about Whitney’s coaching methods as she successfully helps her clients physically, mentally and financially.  We cover the importance of meditation and learning to live intentionally, as well as having a conscious awareness of your frequency as you move through each day.  Whitney shares her lived concept of “The 30-Day Tantric Window” and how she has implemented it into her dating life.  She discusses her health scare that involved a seizure and coma followed by heart surgery, and offers sage advice and wisdom to anyone who is on a health journey related to medical issues.  We learn about her years of traveling and being a nomad, and how travel and adventure are an integral part of her life.  Whitney shares the motivation behind her decision to be childfree, and how marriage may still be a journey she would consider in the future.  This episode was truly a special one as it gave Nicole and Whitney a chance to reconnect after their high school days over 30 years ago, and do a little walk down memory lane.  Whitney’s perspective on life, from the little things to things that are vast, is something everyone could learn from and apply to some part of their daily life.  One quote from the episode that stands out for us, “You can’t meet someone where you’ve never met yourself.”  We are confident our listeners will enjoy their time with Whitney as much as we did!  We look forward to having her back when her upcoming book is released! Check Whitney Out Here:https://whitneykell.comhttps://www.tiktok.com/@whitneykell1https://www.instagram.com/whitneykell2/https://www.youtube.com/@whitneykellhttps://www.facebook.com/whitney.kellhttps://x.com/whitneykell?s=21Check Us Out Here:https://genxadultingpodcast.com/#podcast #interview #genx #genxtalks #over40 #over50 #coach #health #sobercurious #sober #plantmedicine #divorce #marriage #childhood #addictionawareness #travel #tantricpractices #livingintentionally #kundalini #joedispenza #meditation #childfree #dating #heartsurgerysurvivor #adventure #authorCheck us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family

Episode 48 - GenX Speaks Series: Author Jaime Townzen

In this episode we welcome author and artist Jaime Townzen.  Jaime shares about her upbringing in Southern California, that included her parent’s divorce and subsequent remarriages that resulted in her babysitters becoming her step-sisters.  Jaime reveals how the role of being a high achiever both aided her and at times sabotaged her as the weight of people’s expectations continued to pile on throughout most of her life.  We touch on typical GenX topics that include lack of parental support when it came to extracurriculars as well as handling the college application process on our own.  We learn about Jaime’s time at UCLA where she briefly considered pre-med before realizing the importance of pursuing her true passion of writing.  A transfer to University of Redlands led to meeting her future husband as well as an amazing experience in Austria studying abroad.  A move to Sacramento resulted in a stint teaching 4th grade, that included navigating the unique experience of being a teacher on 9/11.  Shortly after marrying her husband, they moved to Pasadena where Jaime found a career in nonprofit marketing and advertising.  Eventually she became a mother to two beautiful girls while at the same time unknowingly beginning a long journey of caretaking, loss and grief.  The shutdown of the world in 2020 due to Covid offered a form of respite for Jaime where she was able to create a space for herself to use watercolor as a form of self-preservation and prioritization.  Through her art, her creativity sparked, bloomed and grew to a place where her talent for writing could be honored.  From that, her coming of age novel “Absorbed” was born.  Set in the 90s, “Absorbed” promises to resonate with GenX and Millennials alike, but also with their children as well.  Touching on such topics as consent and women’s reproductive rights intertwined with the teenage experience, “Absorbed” is sure to be a bridge between generations.  Jaime also shares sage advice on setting boundaries as a form of self-care, as well as the importance of integrating some form of creativity into your daily life every single day.  We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Jaime and were enthralled not only with her story, but her amazing resilience and strength combined with immense creative wisdom.  We encourage our readers to check out her book “Absorbed” and stop by her website to peruse her artwork.  We look forward to having Jaime return to the studio when her next novel is released!Check Out Jaime at:Web Site:  https://jaimetownzen.comShop:  https://jaimetownzen.com/shop/https://www.tiktok.com/@jaimegetscreative/  https://www.instagram.com/jaimegetscreative/  https://youtube.com/@jaimetownzen/  https://www.facebook.com/jaime.townzen/  Check Us Out at:https://genxadultingpodcast.com#author #writer #artist #watercolor #trauma #ucla #universityofredlands #college #loss #grief #caretaking #boundaries #selfcare #divorce #marriage #mother #mom #teacher #911 #highachiever #genx #millennials #90s #music #consent #reproductiverights #art #parenting #creativity #journaling #podcast #interview #over50 #over40Check us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family

Episode 47 - The Assassination of Charlie Kirk

In this episode, we discuss the assassination of Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025 at 12:23pm MT on the campus of Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.  We touch on Charlie’s beginnings when he co-founded Turning Point USA in 2012 at the age of 18.  We reflect on the access to healthy discourse on college campuses and how it has changed since we attended college in the late 1980s - early 90s.  We discuss how Charlie’s art of debate on college campuses simply started with a folding table, a chair and a sign that read “Prove Me Wrong”.  We observe how the media has covered the death of Charlie Kirk fairly overall, with Brian discussing the assumed motivation behind their approach.  Charlie Kirk gained power through the use of words, encouraging the youth of America to debate him on any topic.  Literally, Charlie debated any topic someone brought him, even something as simple as “pancakes or waffles?”.  He would encourage those who disagreed with him to come to the front of the crowd to present their topic or question to debate.  Through this open discourse, Charlie’s influence on the youth of America, and even the world, grew larger than many people realize.  Through communication, Charlie platformed his “opponents”, while simultaneously creating a space for his young supporters to connect and feel accepted.  Nicole reads Charlie’s quote on empathy and shares her own perspective on the subject.  She also reads one of his quotes discussing the Second Amendment, as well as a back and forth with an attendee regarding homosexuality and conservatism.   We discuss Charlie’s outlook on diversity and unity, and touch on the murder of Iryna Zarutska.  Charlie had an exceptionally strong Christian faith and there was no question that Jesus Christ was his Lord and Savior.  This faith guided him in almost everything he did, and was certainly a support system as he created dialogue with everyone, from Only Fans girls to President Trump.  He was a bridge between the right and left of the youth, bringing them together to use their voices, even if they were coming from opposite points of view.  You don’t have to agree with everything Charlie discussed or believed in order to respect his phenomenal talent to debate anything and everything with anyone.  The true tragedy of all of this is that he left behind his beautiful wife and two young children.  Charlie certainly lived more life in his short 31 years than most people live in a lifetime, and we think it’s safe to assume his impact on the world is nowhere near complete.Learn More About Charlie Kirk Here:https://tpusa.com/Check Us Out Here:https://genxadultingpodcast.com/#charliekirk #charlie #turningpointusa #turningpoint #republican #liberal #independent #left #right #moderate #debate #talk #podcast #college #collegecampus #youth #america #media #millennials #millennial #genz #politics #christian #jesus #jesuschrist #christianityCheck us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family

Episode 46 - Overdevelopment and the SAVE BOCA Movement

In this episode we discuss a local issue that is ongoing in our town of Boca Raton, Florida.  The Save Boca campaign was formed in response to our local government’s plan to put 31 acres of public land into the hands of developers.  Within those 31 acres is a 17 acre park called “Memorial Park” and often referred to as “War Memorial”, that was named in 1947 two years after the end of World War II, to honor those who served and perished.  The park is centrally located in the downtown area of east Boca Raton, and has been a hub of activity since its inception.  For decades the citizens of Boca Raton have enjoyed the 10 clay tennis courts, skatepark, softball and baseball fields, shuffleboard courts, basketball court, playground and green open spaces that the park offers.  Boca Raton’s historic Children’s Museum also sits on the property, where the second oldest building in Boca Raton can be found.  The Boca Raton Community Center and City Hall also reside within the park.  The park is home to six cherished old growth Banyan trees that are loved by the community.  The project was originally named “Government Campus Redevelopment”, a fairly misleading title that offered no clues as to what the local government and developers agreed on as it pertained to development of the public land.  In place of what has been described here, the new plan is a concrete jungle that includes a hotel that is near schools, low income housing, cafes, stores, restaurants and additional commercial leasing space.  There has been talk of moving two of the six Banyan trees, something that is very distressing to the people of Boca Raton, as well as very little regard to what Memorial Park represents to the town and to all veterans.  The Save Boca movement has been tremendous getting the word out to citizens and instrumental in making our voices heard.  We also touch on overdevelopment as a whole all across America, and how what we are currently facing may resonate with many listeners who have witnessed the cherished nostalgic sections of their beloved towns be replaced with shiny, new and uncomfortable structures that have had the effect of completely changing the character and charm of their area.  This is an ongoing issue that will see many city council meetings ahead attended by hundreds, if not thousands, of citizens.  We plan on keeping our finger on the pulse of this issue and being involved as much as possible, with this episode hopefully aiding the good fight in some way.Find Information Here:https://www.saveboca.org/Check Us Out Here:https://genxadultingpodcast.com/#overdevelopment #government #local #town #city #bocaraton #florida #southflorida #miami #ftlauderdale #saveboca #delraybeach #veterans #wwII #worldwarII #america #activism #memorial #warmemorial #park #banyan #banyantrees #museum #childrensmuseum #smalltown #downtown #beach #nostalgia #genx #podcast #genxtalks #over50 #over40 #generationxCheck us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family

A move to Michigan led her to a position at Homedics, where she found an outlet for her incredible ingenuity. We touch on motherhood and postpartum depression, as well as the many ways women are not served properly in healthcare. We discuss how the female experience can’t exist in the workplace, and how sharing the challenges of perimenopause and menopause can be a double edged sword for women. MJ candidly shares about her experience returning to the dating scene post-divorce, which can only be summed up as one long jump scare. We learn about her work with start-ups, which includes her extensive knowledge of the international supply chain and doing business with China. It is obvious that MJ is a valuable asset to any company she’s working for or for any client who hires her on as a consultant. There is no question that she is a phenomenal resource when it comes to product design, manufacturing and the logistics of shipping products around the globe. She is a true expert in the complex space. After her second divorce, MJ returned to Rhode Island to work for a sustainability company, and she extensively covers how the tariffs are affecting businesses. We discuss the journey of self-discovery that many GenX women are currently on, as well as the three P’s that men operate off of: Pay, Praise and Pleasure. MJ shares how “MJ aka Mommie” began on TikTok, as well as her new project, the “Mediocre at Best!” podcast, where listeners will have access to MJ’s wit, humor and brilliance in longer form. We absolutely loved having not one, but two days with MJ in the studio and truly enjoyed such great conversation. Episode 42 - GenX Speaks Series: Sherri Dindal - The Real Slim Sherri

In this episode we welcome Sherri Dindal, aka The Real Slim Sherri.  Sherri reflects on her “typical GenX childhood”, that was filled with being feral, drinking from the garden hose and even having her own Hansel and Gretel situation in her neighborhood.  A home life that involved alcoholism and the factors that typically go along with it resulted in Sherri acquiring the hypervigilance that so many GenXers have battled their entire lives.  We discuss the parenting styles of GenX as parents, and how many are breaking the cycle.  Sherri shares how she has been finding success in the use of EMDR Therapy on her healing journey.  We discuss how perimenopause may have played a role in Sherri’s decision to leave her job as an investigator at 43, but how that decision changed the entire trajectory of her life.  Together, Sherri and her wife Christa started their first business, Feather & Vine boutique, ten years ago.  Their second business, Wholesome Hippy soon followed, and has resulted in so much success that Sherri was recently on Good Morning America!  Sherri shares how turning 50 was an awakening for her and another pivotal moment in her life.  We learn how a severe battle with Covid led to her third business, The Real Slim Sherri, where she has gained over 6 million followers through her brilliant ability to use humor when discussing even the most taboo subjects, combined with an authenticity that brings comfort to her fans.  The Real Slim Sherri led to The GenX Takeover tour, a comedy variety show that she headlines along with three other GenX talents, Kelly Manno, The Dad Bod Veteran and Mr. Professor318.  The Millennials are also represented by host/comedian Justin Rupple.  The GenX Takeover Tour is the perfect example of "you can do anything at any age" and the importance of conquering your fear of being uncomfortable while continuing to challenge yourself.  It’s no wonder Sherri recently won the Cheer of the Year Award at the Cheer Choice Awards.  The award is given to someone who has done good in the world and helped others, and what an absolutely eloquent honor for all of GenX that someone from our generation, who has a shared story with us, and who had the courage to take a leap of faith midlife to chase her dreams, dreams that ended up helping people, won.  Many call her “The GenX Queen”,  and as much as Sherri so obviously appreciates everything she has and how much she adores her fans, there is no question that being a wife to Christa and a mother to her son and two daughters is the pride of her life.  We were absolutely thrilled to have this time with Sherri and not only hear her story, but discuss real issues that are affecting GenXers midlife.  Even if you’re not GenX, you will thoroughly enjoy every minute of this episode, and younger generations will learn a lot.Find Sherri At:http://www.therealslimsherri.com/ttps://genxtakeover.com/https://www.tiktok.com/@therealslimsherri?lang=enhttps://www.instagram.com/therealslimsherri/https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCVOgGTmi_fT96aPcOoRQ6whttps://www.facebook.com/sherri.dindal/https://substack.com/@therealslimsherri?utm_source=user-menuCheck us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family

Episode 41 - Boomer Series: JD

In this episode we welcome JD, one of the coolest boomers we know.  JD shares about his experience coming from a large family of five children, which included many moves throughout his childhood.  We learn how one particular moment he witnessed while living in Baton Rouge, Louisiana changed his perspective on life forever.  We discuss youth sports and the impact travel sports has had on recreational leagues.  JD confirms that the movie "Dazed and Confused" was an accurate depiction of his high school years in the mid to late 1970s, as well as how much the college application process has changed.  He reflects on his college years at James Madison University, where he played lacrosse and made lifelong friends.  Life after college included starting a business with his buddies that became integrated into the software revolution of the 1980s.  JD’s next move was working for Cisco Systems, a position that put him on the forefront of the preparation for Y2K as well as offered him the opportunity to travel the world as a Global Account Manager.  JD offers valuable sales advice and wisdom based on his vast experience, and we highly encourage anyone considering a career in sales to pay extra attention to that part of the episode.  We discuss marital and domestic life when one spouse travels for work, as well as when you come to the point in your life where you truly appreciate what’s important.  JD shares his utter joy at becoming a grandfather, and once again offers great advice, this time on the topic of how to be a welcoming and supportive in-law to your child’s spouse.  We learn how his parents struggle with dementia and Alzheimer's lead him to becoming a Eucharistic minister, and how it has changed his life.  Mentions of his wife, son and daughter throughout the entire episode make it clear how much they mean to him, and how proud he is of his ever-growing family.  Finally, we touch on how the younger generations, especially Millennials and GenZ, view Boomers in general.  As expressed earlier, JD does not fit the typical “Boomer reputation” in any way, and we thoroughly enjoyed hearing his story as well as his outlook on life and thank him for sharing valuable advice and insight!Visit Us At:https://genxadultingpodcast.comhttps://www.tiktok.com/@genxadultinghttps://www.instagram.com/genx.adulting/https://www.facebook.com/genxadultinghttps://www.youtube.com/@genxadultinghttps://x.com/genxadultinghttps://www.amazon.com/shop/genxadultinghttps://shop.genxadultingpodcast.com#family #marriage #children #grandchildren #lacrosse #college #jamesmadisonuniversity #youthsports #music #dazedandconfused #cisco #ciscosystems #y2k #internet #software #sales #travel #inlaws #dementia #alzheimers #catholic #eucharisticminister #boomer #boomers #podcast #interview #genx #generationx #fyp #fypシ゚ #fyptiktok #fypyoutube #podcastclips #over50 #phasesoflife #relationship #memories #genxtalks #genxmemories #over40 #parenting #emptynest #opennest #adultchildrenCheck us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family

Episode 40 - The Millennials - Craig Salazar - The Steph and Craig Show

In this episode we welcome Craig Salazar, the Producer and Co-Host of “The Steph & Craig Show” podcast.  Being a Xennial/elder Millennial, Craig shares how his childhood closely resembled a typical GenX childhood.  Growing up in the town of Grantsville, Utah, which is situated in a valley surrounded by beautiful mountains, Craig spent his formative years playing baseball and riding his bike with friends all over town.  He touches on how the lack of emotional development that is common for many GenX and elder Millennial boys was dealt with through physical altercations with his older brothers as well as friends at school.  His parents divorce resulted in sporadic involvement from his dad in his life, which just added to the disconnect he had already been feeling from his father.  After graduating high school, Craig spontaneously headed to Minnesota to have a whirlwind romance, or two, before ultimately returning home a few months later.  A move to Salt Lake City led to meeting his first wife, the adoption of his first daughter and the birth of his second daughter.  Craig reflects on the joys he experienced while being a stay-at-home dad for several years, while continuing to hustle with part-time jobs to help support his family.  After moving the family back to Grantsville, Craig eventually became a corrections officer and ultimately a police officer.  His insight into both experiences is riveting, as is the story of why he was fired.  After the divorce from his first wife, Craig married his current wife Stephanie and they became a family of six, with Craig becoming a father to his third daughter and son.  Life after leaving law enforcement resulted in a spiritual awakening that led Craig to ThetaHealing as well as the “Energy is Love” podcast, where he would host various guests from the spiritual and healing world, in addition to sometimes co-hosting with Stephanie.  A pivotal moment in Craig’s life was discovering the Evryman men’s organization, followed by a year of intensive therapy using MDMA that both he and Stephanie participated and flourished in.  Craig shares how the therapy, in addition to microdosing psilocybin, opened the door for the couple to live their most authentic life.  A move to Tennessee followed, where the couple built the studio for their current project, “The Steph & Craig Show” podcast, which is a culmination of their life’s journey, work and healing that was created to connect, resonate and help people feel understood.  We also touch on the importance of a woman’s partner putting in the effort to educate themselves about perimenopause in order to be a truly supportive partner.  We loved going on the ride of Craig’s story, and look forward to becoming regular listeners of “The Steph & Craig Show” to continue to learn and be inspired!Visit Craig at:https://www.stephandcraig.co/https://www.tiktok.com/@stephandcraighttps://www.instagram.com/steph.and.craig/https://www.youtube.com/@stephandcraig/?sub_confirmation=1https://www.facebook.com/stephandcraigUs:https://linktr.ee/genxadultinghttps://www.tiktok.com/@genxadultinghttps://www.instagram.com/genx.adulting/https://www.youtube.com/@genxadultingCheck us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family

In this episode we welcome Marlon, a Genxer from Trinidad who became an American citizen.  Marlon describes the differences between Trinidad and Tobago, known as the “Twin Islands”.  He shares his family background rooted in both Hindu and Arawak, and how coming from a blending of both led to him being exposed to overt racism from his own family.  We learn about his formative years in school in Trinidad, in addition to the sports, food, weather, government system and overall culture of Trinidad.  A particularly riveting story Marlon shared with us reflects on the time he was “scooped up” and arrested with other men that resulted in a two week stay in prison before he was finally released.  He shares about his years of being punk and being a member of a punk band, and how a moment at a party when he used a computer for the first time led to his first job at a newspaper on Trinidad where he started in classifieds and eventually worked on the front page.  Working on a project that involved Mariah Carey gave him the opportunity to come to America for the first time which led to his goal of moving to America and becoming a citizen.  We learn about his time living in Miami, as well as the time he was homeless but still maintained a job that had a commute that required a lot of creativity, determination and time, and even included having to hang out in the Miami Airport some nights.  Marlon’s work ethic shines as we learn about the many positions he’s held at various businesses as he’s built his reputation not only in graphic design, but as an exceptional individual.  We learn about his wonderful 11 year relationship with his girl, and how he makes time for his passions, one being his dedication to working out.  In addition to the many creative outlets Marlon has, including music, he is currently working on a children’s book!  We were very impressed with Marlon’s dedication to creating and making time for the things that are important to him, and enjoyed learning about what and who inspires him, one of which includes Tony Robbins.  We were honored to hear Marlon’s amazing story of courage, determination, creativity and talent and are truly inspired by what he shared.  We look forward to having him return in the future!  Visit Us At:https://linktr.ee/genxadultinghttps://www.tiktok.com/@genxadultinghttps://www.instagram.com/genx.adulting/https://www.facebook.com/genxadultinghttps://www.youtube.com/@genxadultinghttps://x.com/genxadultinghttps://www.amazon.com/shop/genxadulting#trinidadandtobago #trinidad #america #citizen #graphicdesign #gym #workingout #artist #job #corporate #purpose #life #courage #advice #inspiration #tonyrobbins #punk #music #band #author #homeless #MariahCarey #prison #miami #airport #genx #podcast #interview #fyp #fypシ゚ #fyptiktok #fypyoutube #podcastclips #over50 #generationX #80s #70s #memories #instagram #tiktok #tiktokvideo #tiktokviral #genxtalks #genxmemories #over40 #childhood #americandream #immigrant #immigration #comingtoamericaCheck us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family

Episode 33 - Parenting Adult Children

In this episode, Brian and Nicole discuss parenting adult children.  They share how they've had to transition as parents in order to continue to be supportive and offer guidance while respecting their adult children's space.  They reflect on the various changes and experiences adult children face for the first time in their 20s, and how the entire decade can be quite an erratic ride.  They deep dive into how the corporate world is receiving GenZ as they enter the workforce, as well as the contributions Millennials and GenZ has made that have had an effect on corporate culture.  Nicole shares her outlook of having an open nest vs an empty nest home, as well as her belief that the time and effort you put into your children's childhood determines how much access you'll have to them when they are adults.  They also both acknowledge that communication with adult children is a 2-way street, and that parents need to continue to put in effort to stay in touch with their kids.  It was a great discussion on such an important part of life for both adult children and their parents, and we hope our listeners enjoy it!Visit Us At:https://linktr.ee/genxadultinghttps://www.tiktok.com/@genxadultinghttps://www.instagram.com/genx.adulting/https://www.facebook.com/genxadultinghttps://www.youtube.com/@genxadultinghttps://x.com/genxadultinghttps://www.amazon.com/shop/genxadulting#podcast #interview #genx #family #fyp #fypシ゚ #fyptiktok #fypyoutube #podcastclips #over50 #generationX #phasesoflife #relationship #80s #70s #memories #instagram #tiktok #tiktokvideo #tiktokviral #genxtalks #genxmemories #over40 #childhood #parenting #emptynest #opennest #adultchildrenCheck us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family

Episode 32 - Attachment Styles and Relationship Dynamics

In this episode, Brian and Nicole discuss attachment styles and relationship dynamics.  Styles discussed include anxious, dismissive avoidant, fearful avoidant and secure attachment styles.  They share their own attachment styles they’ve had throughout their life and relationships.  They touch on how various characteristics of avoidant attachment can be highly damaging to a relationship and partner, as well as how anxious attachment can be very triggering and intense.  They cover the emotional development of GenX men, women and the generation as a whole, and how it has possibly not only affected marriage and relationships for GenX, but contributed to the rise in divorce for them as well.  Nicole once again raises the topic of perimenopause and menopause, and shares the importance of having a partner that will evolve with a woman through this phase of her life.  We reflect on the fate of GenX and how recognizing your own attachment style as well as your partner’s can play a vital role.  We really enjoyed delving into these topics and may revisit them in a future episode!Links Related to Attachment Styles:https://www.attachmentproject.com/blog/four-attachment-styles/ https://www.attachmentproject.com/about/Visit Us At:https://linktr.ee/genxadultinghttps://shop.genxadulting.comhttps://www.tiktok.com/@genxadultinghttps://www.instagram.com/genx.adulting/https://www.facebook.com/genxadultinghttps://www.youtube.com/@genxadultinghttps://x.com/genxadultinghttps://www.amazon.com/shop/genxadulting#podcast #interview #genx #family #fyp #fypシ゚ #fyptiktok #fypyoutube #podcastclips #over50 #generationX #phasesoflife #relationship #80s #70s #memories #instagram #tiktok #tiktokvideo #tiktokviral #genxtalks #genxmemories #over40 #childhood #corememories #attachment #attachmentstyles #stylesCheck us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family

Episode 31 - The Millennials - Jacob Kirstein - Founder of Chapie and TERA

In this episode we welcome Jacob Kirstein, the founder of the brands Chapie and TERA.  Jacob, a Zillennial Millennial, shares about moving with his family to different parts of Florida when he was young, and eventually settling in Tampa, where he spent his formative years until 8th grade.  After his parents divorce, he moved to South Florida where he discovered a love for graphic design and 3D printing in his Drafting and Design Class in high school.  This led to pursuing a degree in aerospace engineering at University of Central Florida, where he was presented with many opportunities, one being building a satellite that was sent into space, all while working on his first invention.  We get a glimpse into the world of SpaceX, where Jacob worked one summer during college, as well as his thrilling experience skydiving in Hawaii.  After graduating, he accepted a job at NASA, where he once again was presented with unique and rare opportunities that few get to experience.  After accepting a corporate job, Covid hit, and he found himself once again in South Florida living with his then girlfriend, now fiancé.  Jacob’s endless drive led him to inventing Chapie, a vacuum insulated container to keep your chapstick from melting in the heat.  Chapie’s line grew to include containers perfect for lipstick, epipens, make-up, deodorant, your phone and even an extra large, spill proof water bottle.  Jacob’s curious mind then invented the TERA cooler, which is a cooler that literally meets every need.  In addition to keeping food and beverages cold, it has drink and towel holders, a speaker, dry storage, phone charger, bottle opener and it even floats!  Even while Jacob’s constantly thinking and curious mind has led him to even more business ventures, he has never lost sight of his goal of creating a positive impact on the world through his work and inventions.  He is also looking forward to his upcoming wedding and having a family with his bride-to-be.  Nicole and Brian fully support the Chapie and TERA brands, as we know they will both help make people’s lives easier and more enjoyable, and were invented with good and authentic intent.  We look forward to Jacob’s return to the studio in the future so we can hear about what new things he has created and experienced!  Check Out Jacob's Linktree:https://linktr.ee/JacobKirsteinBuy Chapie:https://www.mychapie.com/Buy Tera Gear & The Awesome Cooler:https://www.teragear.co/Visit Us At:https://linktr.ee/genxadultinghttps://www.tiktok.com/@genxadultinghttps://www.instagram.com/genx.adulting/https://www.facebook.com/genxadultinghttps://www.youtube.com/@genxadultinghttps://www.amazon.com/shop/genxadulting#entrepreneur #smallbusiness #genz #ucf #orlando #miami #inventions #coolers #brand #branding #merchandise #merch #podcast #chapstick #floatingcooler #spacex #nasa #job #genx #interview #engineering #engineeringdegree #bocahigh #bocaratonhighschool #epipen #epipenprotection #elonmusk #aerospaceengineering #aerospaceengineer #rocket #satellite #space #skydiving #coldplunging #work #millennialCheck us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family

In this episode we welcome Nick Wucher, the Co-Founder and Creative Director of the clothing brand YIFNO, which stands for “Yo, It’s F*cking Nice Out.”  Nick is a GenZ/Zillennial who has spent a good part of his 20s solidifying himself as a high-level entrepreneur.  We are offered a look into Nick’s childhood, where his parents seemingly excelled in providing a stable and supportive co-parenting example after they divorced when Nick was 5 years old.  Nick shares how his mother’s determination to start her own business combined with his father’s success in the corporate world gave him the perfect foundation to stand on when it came time to chase his own dream.  We are regaled with stories about his extended family in Peru as well as his paternal grandfather’s fascinating life in Miami, the Navy and Cuba.  Nick shares about his antics in middle school, which included Friday fights and his first “business”, as well as his love for football, which he played from an early age through high school.  He reflects about his college years in Tallahassee and the love he has for his Florida State University community of fellow Noles, as they were the first to support his brand, YIFNO.  We learn of the birth and growth of YIFNO in Tallahassee and how Nick continued its growth when he returned to South Florida after graduating FSU.  After accepting a corporate job, Nick successfully balanced his 9-5 all while continuing to build and grow YIFNO through pop-ups in various locations, including a successful stint in New York City.  Nick shares the many ways he has worked to market YIFNO, including incorporating YIFNO into comedy shows and selling his line internationally.  We learn about his past and present business partners, which include his younger brother, and his cherished team, who it’s obvious he holds in the highest esteem.  Together they are world building, creating and maintaining a community of authenticity, quality and loyalty.  Nick shares insight on the balance of not caring what others think while still caring deeply about your work, as well as the importance of not being ashamed of prioritizing your finances through a 9-5 while you work on your “5-9”.  We were thrilled to have Nick in the studio to share not only his story but the story of YIFNO as well.  Brian and I both believe in this brand, as it comes from a creative place of good and real, which is exemplified in many ways, one being the charitable causes YIFNO supports both domestically and internationally.  We look forward to having Nick back in the studio in the future and are excited to participate in the YIFNO community!Check Out Nick & YIFNO: Yifno.comOnline StoreInstagramYoutubeTiktokVisit Us At:https://linktr.ee/genxadultinghttps://www.tiktok.com/@genxadultinghttps://www.instagram.com/genx.adulting/https://www.facebook.com/genxadultinghttps://www.youtube.com/@genxadultinghttps://www.amazon.com/shop/genxadulting#entrepreneur #smallbusiness #genz #fsu #newyorkcity #nyc #london #miami #clothes #clothing #brand #branding #merchandise #merch #podcast #community #world #international #corporate #job #genx #interviewCheck us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family

    Episode 27 - The Millennials - Guller

In this episode we welcome Guller, a Millennial/Zillennial.  Guller shares with us his father’s move from Turkey to America, and his parents eventual meeting on a blind date at Chapel Hill.  He shares the origin of his name, which is a combination of his Turkish and rural North Carolina roots.  We learn how Guitar Hero literally struck a chord in him when he was in elementary school, which sparked a desire to learn how to play music with a focus on guitar.  Guller shares how a random moment of dabbling on his Turkish grandmother’s old piano led to the discovery of a natural talent on the keys that his parents fostered with piano lessons.  He touches on how lack of preparation for a piano recital when he was in middle school taught him a lifelong lesson that he still uses to this day.  We learn of Guller’s musical inspirations which include The Grateful Dead, Billy Joel, The Allman Brothers, Elton John and The Beatles, just to name a few, and how his parents constant support of his love for music facilitated growth and personal success for him.  Guller reflects on his years attending Florida State University and how he almost didn’t graduate if it weren’t for the discovery of a woman named Jill who tirelessly aided people by helping them find a strategy to finish their education.  We also learn how his strong support system of friends and family helped him embark on a successful wellness journey.  After a modified “GAP Year” that was a few months of travel, Guller began his career in tech sales, all while balancing being a member of a few different bands.  I think we counted about 10 bands Guller has been a member of from his middle school days to today, and we’re sure that number will continue to climb throughout his life.  We especially enjoyed discussing The Grateful Dead’s music and culture, and hearing his perspective while also sharing our own.  Guller is currently playing shows with his band 59 Shop while enjoying continued success in tech sales working for Finally, a company that offers a full accounting and finance suite to its customers.  We thoroughly enjoyed Guller’s story, and were especially impressed with his passion and drive in balancing his music and business career in addition to continually growing in his personal life.  We definitely plan on seeing Guller perform live in the near future, and look forward to hosting him again in the studio!59 Shophttps://www.instagram.com/59shopband/https://open.spotify.com/artist/7uwzPFpOuIV0vymZvjSTnTWrassehttps://www.instagram.com/wrassetheband/https://open.spotify.com/track/3qNt03V9hOBemv3jHUIin5?si=ccc81e00b6c342feThe Pleasureshttps://www.instagram.com/thepleasuresss/Finallywww.finally.com Visit Us At:https://linktr.ee/genxadultinghttps://shop.genxadulting.comhttps://www.tiktok.com/@genxadultinghttps://www.instagram.com/genx.adulting/https://www.facebook.com/genxadultinghttps://www.youtube.com/@genxadulting#music #thegratefuldead #piano #keyboardist #pianist #billystrings #band #fsu #floridastateuniversity #turkey #bluegrass #sales #technology #gapyear #songwriting #college #wellness #wellnessjourney #advice #millennial #interview #storytelling #storytiCheck us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family

In this episode we welcome Kierstin to the studio.  Kierstin shares with us how she was always the quiet and shy girl through her formative years and typically internalized everything.  Her mother’s battle with cancer through Kierstin’s middle school years, and eventual tragic passing when Kierstin was in 8th grade, further amplified those characteristics and as a result, she spent most of her high school years isolating in her own little bubble.  She reflects on her decision to force herself out of her comfort zone as she headed into college and used the opportunities she found at Florida State University to continually challenge herself to be social.  She found so much success in her endeavor that it left her exhausted and depleted and once again facing her issues.  During her sophomore year, she courageously sought help and found therapy on campus which stopped her spiral and gave her space to find true healing.  After graduation, we learn how Kierstin continued to challenge herself by choosing jobs related to event planning and hospitality, which led to her current position where she works various prestigious and private events throughout South Florida.  We discuss authenticity in today’s current dating culture and the various challenges young women face as a result of dating apps.  Kierstin also shares about her experience in a toxic relationship, and how the lessons she learned has helped her completely adjust her standards going forward.  We truly value Kierstin’s trust in us that allowed her to share her story and loved learning about her amazing journey thus far.  We look forward to having her as a return guest in the future! Visit Us At:https://linktr.ee/genxadultinghttps://shop.genxadulting.comhttps://www.tiktok.com/@genxadultinghttps://www.instagram.com/genx.adulting/https://www.facebook.com/genxadultinghttps://www.youtube.com/@genxadultinghttps://x.com/genxadultinghttps://www.amazon.com/shop/genxadulting#podcast #interview #genx #generationx #family #fyp #fypシ゚ #fyptiktok #health #fypyoutube #podcastclips #goals #change #growth #relationship #friendship #love #womenempowerment #women #family #college #genz #childloss #healing #change #growth #selfcare #mentalhealth #strength #shy #loss #losingaparent #job #dating #advice #storytimeCheck us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family

Episode 22 - Midlife, Menopause & Reclaiming Your Energy

In this episode, Brian and Nicole delve deeper into the concept of someone reclaiming their energy. Nicole theorizes that although peri/menopause is certainly a factor of women reclaiming their energy midlife, it isn’t the only reason. They discuss the motivations of women reaching the point where they’re “done” in a marriage or relationship, and why many men are triggered by women empowering themselves. Brian reflects on if men go through their own hormonal change and how it may affect their decision making. They discuss the importance of having a real friendship with your partner and how the lack of one can be a contributing factor in the demise of a marriage or relationship, especially as a woman hits peri/menopause. In our first episode of The Millennials series, we welcome Andrew to the studio.  Andrew reflects upon his upbringing in Maine, which included playing ice hockey in a cemetery using shoes for goals, lots of baseball and a very “GenX” childhood.  Andrew was part of the first generation to experience the repercussions that can result from pictures posted online to social media, and shares with us the MySpace experience.  Baseball led him to playing college ball, and he offers insight into the mindset and what is truly required to be a student-athlete in college.  We learn about his experience working with nonverbal autistic students as he pursued a career in teaching, and how he still carries those moments with him to this day.  Seeing what life holds beyond Maine led him to a move to south Florida, where he began and succeeded in a sales career.  The birth of his daughter is without a doubt the highlight of his life, and we enjoyed his perspective of truly appreciating the things that matter most while raising his daughter.  We reflect on the benefits of multigenerational living that have resulted from Andrew’s father’s declining health, and what a blessing it has been to have his mother living with him and his daughter.  It was a pleasure to get to know Andrew through his story, and appreciate his general vibe of “This too shall pass”.  We look forward to hosting him again in the future!Visit Us At:https://linktr.ee/genxadultinghttps://www.tiktok.com/@genxadultinghttps://www.instagram.com/genx.adulting/https://www.facebook.com/genxadultinghttps://www.youtube.com/@genxadultinghttps://x.com/genxadulting#podcast #interview #genx #generationx #millennial #family #fyp #fypシ゚ #fyptiktok #fypyoutube #podcastclips #millennials #maine #myspace #dodgeball #redrover #collegebaseball #studentathlete #teaching #nonverbalautism #florida #multigenerational #healthCheck us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family

Episode 20 - GenX Speaks Series: Jenn's Story

In the latest episode of our GenX Speaks series, we are thrilled to welcome Jenn.  We hear about Jenn’s idyllic childhood in her beloved hometown of Buffalo, New York.  After graduation, Jenn pursued not one, not two, but 3 degrees!  Her love of cheerleading, which began during middle school, led to her becoming a cheer coach and eventually a Buffalo Jill captain.  Jenn entertains us with stories of participating on the pageant circuit, including a go at Miss New York.  Modeling eventually led to a deal with Mattel to portray Barbie, which Jenn cleverly parlayed into her own business.  Pharmaceutical sales was Jenn’s next adventure, followed by a sudden move to south Florida where she dabbled as a weather newscaster and pop-up internet model before settling back into pharmaceutical sales.  Of all the roles and adventures Jenn has experienced, becoming a mother to her two sons was hands down her role of a lifetime.  Jenn offers timely advice for women on divorce and starting over, in addition to how she has been in a thriving long-distance relationship for the past two years.  Yet the most impressive adventure Jenn has embarked on has been her latest entrepreneurial project, Pink Space Productions, where she is a DJ and Event Planner serving the South Florida, Charlotte and Buffalo metro markets.  Jenn brings an authentic and genuine experience to every event where she makes each one uniquely special.  We are excited to see where Pink Space Productions takes off to next!Check Out Jenn's Web Site, IG and Facebook:https://pinkspaceproductions.com/https://www.instagram.com/pinkspaceproductionshttps://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61568256121027Visit Us At:https://linktr.ee/genxadultinghttps://www.tiktok.com/@genxadultinghttps://www.instagram.com/genx.adulting/https://www.facebook.com/genxadultinghttps://www.youtube.com/@genxadultinghttps://x.com/genxadulting#podcast #interview #genx #family #fyp #fypシ゚ #fyptiktok #fypyoutube #relationshipadvice #podcastclips #marriage #motherhood #mom #workingmom #divorce #over50 #menopause #generation X #genx #phases of life #relationship #dj #entrepreneur Check us out at genxadulting.com#generationx #genx #podcast #marriage #relationship #interview #mom #family
