In this podcast, the Doanes continue to discuss the major challenge to the Church in the West: secularism. Here, you will learn how secularism manifests in our culture and how it seeps into the Church. Secularism is like a three-legged stool: those legs are atheism, consumer materialism, and relativism. Each of us must take up our responsibility both to expose this Trojan Horse and to defeat it. 

There is an unseen force working in the Church within Western culture that must be addressed. That force is SECULARISM. A clear and simple definition of secularism is this: an inordinate focus on the here and now. In this podcast, the Doanes address this force that causes God's people to lose their vision of eternal realities. St. Paul said this: "So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." (NIV 2 Corinthians 4:18). God's people must identify and root out secularism from our thinking and lifestyle!

Peter and Leslie discuss why the Ascension matters to our faith journey. Stop, and think-there is a Man in heaven, the God-Man, Jesus Christ. When He appeared to St. John in Revelation chapter 1, John fell at His feet like a dead man. He is the one who had leaned on Jesus' breast. The Ascension of Jesus Christ into heaven gives the believer hope in our own future and confidence in this life, knowing that the God-Man is at the Right Hand of the Father, interceding for us!

Throughout history, the Church understood that the Resurrection of Jesus Christ changed everything. In this podcast, Peter and Leslie discuss the effects of the resurrection on the personal lives of Christian believers. We are called to a resurrection mindset. St. Paul tells us that if Christ has not been raised, then our faith is futile and we are still in our sins (1 Corinthians 15:14). He is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!

Scripture teaches us that "today is the day of salvation" (2 Corinthians 6:2). We must make the most of the time the Lord gives us. In this podcast, Peter and Leslie discuss how Holy Week gives us a new opportunity to rediscover the crucifixion of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Holy Week is not just some memorial or remembrance of past blessings. Rather, it is a call to encounter anew what Jesus did for us on the Cross. Let us join St. Paul, who, above all things in Christianity, that can be highlighted, he said: But may it never be that I should boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ ( Galatians 6:14).

Peter and Leslie share the second part of their Lenten series. Both Catholics and, now, Evangelicals are choosing to walk this path for these forty days before Easter. In this podcast, the Doanes discuss how the call to conversion is not a one-time event but rather a determined mindset for all God's People as they follow their Lord and Savior. Everyone will benefit as they say YES to this shared scriptural truth and build confidence to appear before Jesus when He calls us!

Peter and Leslie open a critical dialogue about a stumbling block that has plagued God's People, both in the Old and New Testaments. The issue is called syncretism. Syncretism is the union of the true faith with the surrounding worldly culture. There is no better time than Lent to allow the Holy Spirit to come and search our hearts and set us free. Leslie and Peter discuss the seventh and final pillar of Catholic discipleship: go and share your faith. Jesus chose His disciples for two reasons: first, to be with Him, and secondly, to GO! In this podcast, both Catholics and Evangelicals are challenged to consider their walk with Jesus. Are there places where I am "going out" and reaching others? "Going out" is how we bear fruit for eternal life! The conclusion of this series will become a "life-changer" if each of us puts into practice what St. Paul said of himself to the Romans in Rom 1:14. He was literally "in debt" and repaid that debt by GOING!

To become a true disciple of Jesus Christ, we must learn to conduct spiritual warfare. Throughout history, the Church has been referred to as the Church Triumphant, those in heaven,  and the Church Militant, those of us on earth. Each of us is engaged in a warfare that St. Paul calls a wrestling match. In this podcast, you will both learn about the victory we have in Jesus Christ, which He secured through the Pascal Mystery, and the key ways we can appropriate His defeat of the evil one. This podcast will equip the listener to experience the victory of the Cross of Jesus and overcome the schemes of the devil!

The Lord calls each of us to become disciples. This transformation only takes place through an intentional plan for every Catholic and Evangelical believer. It is not automatic! In this series of podcasts, Peter and Leslie discuss the biblical essentials necessary for each of us to answer the call to discipleship. Providentially, this podcast was released on September 30th, the feast of St. Jerome, who famously said this: "Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ." As a believer becomes "deep in scripture", one begins to know the Lord not as a concept but as the One with whom we share intimate fellowship. 

Peter and Leslie firmly believe that the call to become a disciple of Jesus, not a mere believer, is at the top of the Lord's agenda. In this series, they will discuss seven pillars that will inspire Catholic and Evangelical believers to answer the call to discipleship and thereby become true instruments in the Lord's work. The first pillar is the critical starting point. We are all called to encounter and reencounter the Lord personally and dedicate our entire lives to Him.

In the Apostolic Church, those who dedicated themselves entirely to the Lord and His Kingdom were known as disciples. Catholics refer to this as the "Fiat," which signifies the "Yes" that Mary gave to the Angel Gabriel when she was asked to become the mother of the Messiah. What exactly is a disciple, and how does a disciple differ from a mere believer in Jesus? Peter and Leslie will challenge both Catholics and Evangelicals to embrace this scriptural call and say "Yes" to it.

We can assure ourselves of living our faith in the Kingdom when we allow the Lord to reveal any idolatry that may have entered our Christian lives.

In this podcast, Peter and Leslie discuss how Jesus gave us the first step in building individuals, families, and local parishes. He called each of us to repent and believe the Gospel. What exactly is the Gospel? Why is it pivotal for each of us to proclaim it to our world? This week, Peter and Leslie discuss what they believe is the most important call from the Holy Spirit to the American Church: to move from maintenance to mission! According to the latest statistics, Catholic weddings have decreased significantly since 1970. Only one-third of Catholics believe in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, and seventy percent of American Catholics do not practice their Faith. This backdrop calls for a re-examination of how the Church was built, as seen in the Acts of the Apostles. Just as the Lord gave Moses a pattern for building the Tabernacle in the Wilderness, the Holy Spirit gave us a Pattern for building the Church in the Acts. To rebuild the Church, we must rediscover the patterns prescribed by the Spirit and be courageous pioneers to move from maintenance to mission. May Jesus Christ give us the grace to fulfill this call!

This week, Peter conducts a transformative interview with Brian Bibb, the Director of Mission and Discipleship for Men at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Indianapolis. Brian presents a framework for integrating mission and discipleship into the local community, a key issue in most Catholic parishes. Brian's parish gives all of us "food for thought."    The interview then discusses where discovering, developing, and deploying spiritual gifts, known as charisms, is vital to the overall plan of parish life. Brian explains why charisms play a vital role in the spiritual health of individuals, families, and parishes. This area of truth is new to most Catholic believers, but instruction is necessary to move forward and become Catholic disciples! This interview will be a great blessing to all listeners!

Jesus, who came to bring redemption to the planet, did many signs and wonders, most of which were healing sickness and disease. First Corinthians 12 reveals, in Greek, that there are gifts (plural) of healings (plural). This means there are different areas in which Jesus heals us and several ways He heals us. In this broadcast, the Doanes explain how these blessings are still available to His people today. We learned this week that there is an easy and non-threatening four-step way to pray for those who need healing. As we pray, the Lord can do extraordinary acts of healing, just as He has done throughout history. All of us are surrounded by those who need our love and availability to listen and take action. This broadcast will help us to do both!

In this last three-part series, Peter and Leslie discuss the call to rebuild and renew the ministry of intercession here in our American Catholic Church. Citing the High Priestly prayer of Jesus in John 17, examples from the Acts of the Apostles, and finally in the life of a famous saint, the Doanes believe that joining our Lord in heaven as committed intercessors, the Catholic faith can begin to address the issues of poor leadership, disunity, and persecution from the world system. Throughout salvation history, there have never been unique strategies or human willpower that have brought lasting results. Instead, it has been through intercession, both in heaven and on earth, that releases what Jesus told us to pray: "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven."

Last week, Peter and Leslie began sharing the call to understand intercession and how this practice needs to be rebuilt into our Catholic culture. We have seen two great saints of the Old Testament, Abraham and Moses, practice powerful intercession. This led to a discussion of the Person whom the Doanes referred to as the Great Intercessor, Jesus Christ. This week, Peter and Leslie share the High Priestly Intercession of our Lord as recorded in John's Gospel, chapter 17. Here, we can discover the Lord's heart revealed through intercession. This will lead us to know what priorities we should take up when interceding for others. In the last section of this program, the Doanes share practical tools on how we can grow in this most powerful ministry- intercession!

As Catholic disciples, they challenged us to discover, develop, and deploy our spiritual gifts! Through our Baptism and Confirmation, each of us has received spiritual gifts called charisms so that we may build up the Body of Christ. Through Leslie's pursuit of her gifts, she took a spiritual gifts inventory. To her surprise, she discovered that intercession was one of her chief gifts. She realized she had indeed been a "prayer warrior" for years. This led to the Doanes, beginning this week, sharing the call for us to understand intercession and how this practice needs to be rebuilt into our Catholic culture.

This week, Peter and Leslie continue to share a goal to consider for the New Year. As Catholic disciples, they challenge us to discover, develop, and deploy our spiritual gifts! Through our Baptism and Confirmation, each of us has received spiritual gifts called charisms so that we may build up the Body of Christ. These gifts are not earned but are to be sought after and received. The charisms are classified in the Catechism as ordinary and extraordinary! By taking a gift inventory and seeking wise counsel, we can understand what we have been called to by Jesus Christ and how we can begin to bear fruit for eternal life. Do not be afraid!

This week, Peter and Leslie share a goal to consider for the New Year. As Catholic disciples, they challenge us to discover, develop, and deploy our spiritual gifts! Through our Baptism and Confirmation, each of us has received spiritual gifts called charisms so that we may build up the Body of Christ. According to Sacred Scripture, we have a part to play in that Kingdom task. The Doanes believe this truth is one of the most neglected aspects of our Catholic catechesis and should, therefore, be rebuilt into the People of God. In fact, paragraph 798 in the Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that the Holy Spirit renews and builds up the Church through the charisms. This broadcast brings hope and excitement to our walk with the Lord

 This week, Peter and Leslie share their fifth and final show highlighting the seasons of Advent and Christmas. Living our Catholic life according to the liturgical calendar helps us be the people Jesus talked about-  to be in the world, but not of it! The Doanes discuss the Octave of Christmas and how the Church has given us special feasts to experience the Lord and His graces within that period. Specifically, the feast of the Holy Family teaches us truths concerning the family that are desperately needed in the day we live. The family is under attack from all three of our enemies: the world, the flesh, and the devil. To defeat these enemies, we must look to this home in Nazareth for inspiration and guidance. This week, we share five key lessons the Holy Family teaches all Christian families so they can survive and thrive! 

 Periodically, the Doanes interview others who are doing the work of rebuilding the Church. This week, their special guest is Carly Brousek. Carly is on the national team for Varsity Catholic, a ministry outreach of the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS). She has worked on the national team for three years. This ministry reaches out to athletes on campus with the Good News of Jesus Christ while seeking to come alongside them with the unique needs of the college athlete. Carly is a gifted missionary, as you will hear during the interview. Her passion for reaching athletes on campus will inspire you and give us hope. The Doanes give a historical and theological background for our celebration of Christmas and the Christmas Season. Over time, the seed of secularism has seeped into our celebration of Christmas not only in the culture at large but also in the Catholic Church. Today, we discuss how Catholic disciples can indeed put Christ back into Christmas. This broadcast will bless the entire family and set a precedent for Christmas in the future!

This week, Peter and Leslie continue a short series on the Advent and Christmas Seasons. The Doanes give a historical and theological background for our celebration of Christmas and the Christmas Season. Many have bought into the narrative that Christmas is celebrated on December 25 to replace a pagan holiday. To the surprise of many, this may not be historically accurate! Early Church writings indicate something different. Along with its history, Christmas celebrates one of the great dogmas of the Catholic Faith- the Incarnation. This week, we discuss exactly why the Faithful bow before the Lord at every Mass on Sunday when we confess, "For us men and our salvation He came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man." May we all keep the Feast with great vigor and understanding!

The Doanes discuss an often neglected truth in Catholic belief: The Second Coming of our Lord Jesus! Both in the New Testament and the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the call to be alert and watchful for the Lord's return is without question. How are we to prepare for the Second Coming? Advent is key to a correct approach to the holiday season and allows us to make Jesus first in a secular culture!

Throughout this series, the Doanes have drawn upon Sacred Scripture, the Catholic Church's Catechism, the Saints' lives, and the Church's teachings to demonstrate the "time is now" for every Catholic believer to move from "maintenance to mission.! The Lord is calling each of us out of our comfort zone to begin to imitate, in our callings, the mindset that St. Paul modeled as he went forward to extend the Kingdom of God. The American Church needs volunteers to bring this pioneering approach. Will you and I answer this call? This series can become a life-changer for individuals, families, and local parishes!

This week, Peter and Leslie complete their series of four broadcasts, recounting their pilgrimage "Following in the Footsteps of St. Paul."  In the middle of this series, Rebuilding a Missional Church, The Lord gave Peter and Leslie a providential divine appointment! They have just returned from a two-week pilgrimage to Greece and Turkey. They visited the places where St. Paul and his team carried the Gospel on their second and third missionary journeys. In this fourth and final episode, the Doanes discuss their visit to Ephesus. There, they encountered the Holy Spirit as they visited the Cave of St. John on the Isle of Patmos and the burial site of the disciple who leaned on Jesus's breast! They also visited the house of the Blessed Mother, which was discovered due to a mystic's revelation. Their experiences continued to build on the foundation that the early church was missional to the core! This series can catalyze listeners to "volunteer" and become missionary disciples and "Follow in the Footsteps of St. Paul!"

The Apostle carries out his calling but also becomes our model on how we, as missionary disciples, need to reproduce what he did in the first century. Just as St. Paul had a target for his outreach, we, too, can look at certain arenas where the Lord wants to send us. We, too, can adopt St. Paul's mindset! Nothing less will change our culture and world!

St. Paul teaches us in the book of Colossians that "doors" are opportunities for spreading the Good News. That relationship will become the basis for us to develop "our story"  of how Jesus changed our lives. Peter and Leslie share how stories are powerful and how God has "hardwired" the human brain to respond to stories so that facts and statistics do not compare. Putting together our personal story is an important exercise so we can be prepared to share the Lord's life with those He may send us to. A Missional Church will consist of not just a few who share the story of salvation with others. But instead, that characteristic will be in every true Catholic believer! The Lord is preparing a People who will be His instruments in these challenging yet exciting times in which we live. Will you volunteer to serve Him?

When St. Peter confessed that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of the Living God, he took the first step necessary to follow Jesus. But that would only be the beginning. Following Jesus would mean developing a personal relationship with Him. This would take place on the Lord's terms and not Peter's. So, with us, we are called not only to make an initial commitment to our Lord but also to follow the pattern we see in St. Peter. We are also called to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through the patterns we see in Sacred Scripture and the Saints' lives. The Lord is a builder and a rebuilder. He plans to rebuild His Church as a "missional church" by creating a company of Catholic disciples with a deep and profound personal relationship with Him!

This week, Peter and Leslie continue their new series of broadcasts, Rebuilding a Missional Church! When Jesus first spoke of building His Church, he did so at Caesarea Phillipi, where paganism, perversion, idolatry, and the "gates of hell" were fully displayed. There, St. Peter made his prototype confession of who Jesus was, the Christ, Son of the living God! There, Jesus said He would build His Church, and the gates of hell would not prevail against it. This portion of Sacred Scripture sets in motion the events for building the Church and has the necessary dynamics to rebuild the Lord's Church in our generation. Everything that was taking place at Caesarea Phillipi has significance for us today if we are indeed going to rebuild the Catholic Church here in the West. Today's broadcast will give us a vision of how we can begin to enter this rebuilding call from Jesus Christ!

This week, Peter and Leslie continue introducing a new series of broadcasts, Rebuilding a Missional Church! The era of church history in which we find ourselves today was prophesied by Fr. Joseph Ratzinger in 1969. The future pope saw a Church on the horizon that would be much different from the one at Christendom's height. Fast forward fifty-four years to 2023. and Cardinal Timothy Dolan tells us that we are now experiencing what Fr. Ratzinger saw on the horizon. This time in the Church's history is a challenge and a time of great hope and opportunity. The Lord Jesus calls each of us to say "YES" as Mary did and receive the call to become a people on a mission!  This series will be a life-changer!

This week, Peter and Leslie begin a new series of broadcasts, Rebuilding a Missional Church! The era of church history in which we find ourselves today was prophesied by Fr. Joseph Ratzinger in 1969. The future pope saw a Church on the horizon that would be much different from the one at Christendom's height. He saw a time coming when the numbers of adherents dwindled, and great changes went to the institutional structures. Yet, amid tremendous change and attrition, a new army of Saints and a Church would arise marked by true spirituality and Holy Spirit power. This, indeed, is the time in which we find ourselves. This series will challenge all of us to become disciples of Jesus Christ so that we can join ourselves in the great mission the Lord has in store for His people. This series will be a life-changer!

This week, Peter and Leslie interview one of the key thought leaders in the American Catholic Church, Sherry Weddell. Since her groundbreaking book in 2012, Forming Intentional Disciples, Sherry has been a key spokesperson in the Church whose wisdom has been sought after by Cardinals, Bishops, clergy, religious, and lay leadership. Ms. Weddell shares how we have entered into a new epoch, one where Catholics no longer live within a culture that is affected by faith. The Church must realize that the call to be on "mission" is not optional but necessary if we are faithful to the Gospel. Listeners will be encouraged and challenged to "grow up in all aspects unto Jesus Christ."

This week, Peter and Leslie complete their series, “Rebuilding Discipleship  in the Catholic Parish.” The call to discipleship is relatively new in the Catholic milieu yet ancient in its origin. The Doanes have introduced what they refer to as the seven pillars of Catholic discipleship. The seventh and final pillar is “Go and Share Your Faith.” When we complete the journey of growing from a Catholic believer to a Catholic disciple, the Lord sends us out on a mission. That mission is for us to give back all that Jesus Christ has given to us. St. Paul referred to himself as a "debtor" in Romans chapter one. He was in debt because of what the Lord had accomplished for him, and he, in turn, was obligated to give back by bearing fruit in sharing the Good News with others. This week's broadcast will complete the call for each of us to become a disciple so we, in turn, can make disciples of others. "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations." (Matthew 28)
