08.09.26Over the past season, God has been taking us through a Holy Transition—from crowds to commissioned, from acquaintances to intimacy, and from waiting to birthing—and now He is inviting us into a season of abundance and acceleration. But biblical abundance is never about personal comfort or prosperity; it is about greater responsibility, deeper dependence on God, and making room for others like Peter in Luke 5:1-11. 07.26.26To truly abide in Christ, we must learn to live entirely in the present moment. God is eternal, meaning He exists outside of linear time—He lives in the “now.” Therefore, the only place we can actively encounter and experience God is in the present. 07.19.26We often forget that we serve a Holy God by emphasizing His love over His holiness. Fearing God is not living in terror, but existing in such awe of His holiness that we hate what separates us from Him—sin. When we lose this fear, we minimize sin and mistake His patience for permission. Our sin is never private; it always costs others, impacting families and future generations. Achan’s hidden sin cost Israel thirty-six warriors and an important battle. While Saul feared public opinion, David owned his sin and repented. True biblical repentance means falling forward in humble accountability. Ultimately, God’s holiness demands justice, but His love provides Christ. 07.05. 2026Earthly experiences shape our view of fatherhood, but Jesus revealed a radical truth: God is not a distant judge, but a loving Father who desires relationship. In Matthew 6, Jesus invites us to approach God as Father—our Abba who acts as our Source, Sustainer, Protector, and Provider. The story of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15 illustrates two ways we fail to abide. The younger son sought independence through reckless living but found restoration in a Father who valued his identity over his sin. The older son stayed close but remained spiritually distant, trapped in religious performance by valuing property, processes, and programs over intimacy. True relationship requires presence over performance. God cannot be manipulated by religious checklists or works. 06.21.2026Building on the premise that true success is loving others like God loves, we explore the “How” of Christ’s life: the Exchanged Life. While Jesus declared, “I am the Way,” He modeled a life free of self-reliance, doing only what He saw the Father doing. Human pride fails us, leading to exhaustion and sin cycles. True freedom is found when we reach the end of ourselves, embracing humility and being “poor in spirit.” By practicing Galatians 2:20 daily—recognizing we are crucified with Christ and He lives through us—we exchange our human inability, weakness, and insecurities for His supernatural strength, security, and righteousness. Whether facing daily frustrations, marital friction, business choices, or habitual sin, we must stop struggling in our own power. 06.14.2026Part of God’s character is defined by kindness—His goodness and mercy in action. By choosing the single forbidden tree over God’s abundant provision, humanity succumbed to the enemy’s deception, trading divine good for a sinful nature and breaking their spiritual connection with God despite being sovereignly gifted with the freedom of choice. Though they were deceived and fell into sin, God’s grace provided a rescue plan. Through Jesus’s sacrifice, we are forgiven, justified, and reconciled by faith, not works. This free gift replaces our sinful nature with a new spirit, restoring our relationship with God. 05.17.2026SERMON NOTESThis week we come to the climactic scene that the book of Job has been building toward: the powerful encounter between God and man. Job comes off the bench with a 2–0 victory over the enemy, exhausting rounds of discourse with friends, has his mind renewed for six chapters, and now is about to be humbled, silenced, and transformed by God. Out of the storm God speaks, leading Job through over 80 questions that expose the limits of man and reveal the mysteries of God. As God moves from the visible creation to unseen realities, the message becomes clear: if Job cannot govern creation, how could he comprehend the reality where God dwells? Yet God’s goal is not merely to inform Job, but to reveal Himself. Job moves beyond knowing about God and finally encounters Him. Revelation is God’s invitation to come closer and know Him personally. Beyond the suffering, the sin, and the storm, God wants us to know Him. April 12, 2026There are certainly common experiences that we are all guaranteed to walk through in life. One we do not choose, but somehow finds all of us is suffering. If life is consistent about one thing, it’s delivering hard circumstances for us to walk through. The prevailing question, especially as disciples of Jesus, is, “Where is God in suffering?” In addition, a series of questions often arises as we face adversity: Why does God allow this? Why am I going through it? What am I supposed to do with suffering? Is this part of God’s plan for me? There are thousands of others, but no matter the question, when we think of suffering, humanity, and God’s involvement, we are drawn to the book of Job. For the next few weeks, we will look at how God orchestrates every detail of our lives for our good as we read through the book of Job together. April 05, 2026Once a year, people across America pack the church. For many, it’s a glorious day of crowds, beautiful outfits, full stomachs, and busy calendars. But for Jesus, seeing His Church filled is a reminder,“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 7:21 We are not tasked with filling seats, but with the more difficult privilege of filling our hearts with Truth. That Truth is a person, and He sets us free. Not everyone is willing to have their hearts open, transparent, and vulnerable before God, living in true authenticity. That’s the call in Luke 7: the woman who came to Jesus, pouring out not only an alabaster jar of perfume but her whole life to experience the love of God in His forgiveness. March 15, 2026The Church is filled with so many different people. All of us are at different points in our faith and seasons of life; we are walking through different things and facing different challenges. However, the Word calls us to consider putting the interests of others above our own. When others are rejoicing, we are instructed to rejoice with them. If they are suffering, be with them in their suffering. For when one suffers, we all suffer, and when one member rejoices, we should join in. At any point, there are two groups in our family: those who rejoice and those who weep. This is how cities are being renewed: by first strengthening ourselves in the LORD, then managing our households as greenhouses that cultivate life and multiply into your city where relationships are sovereign, and delivering to them what God has freely given to you. February 08, 2026As we continue the Vision and Mission series, we are discussing the second facet of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. The first aspect of a disciple is to ‘strengthen yourself in the LORD,’ and the second is to ‘manage your household.’ To manage your household means to be present and active in your personal relationships, seeking their good over your own. The picture we get of a well-managed home goes all the way back to Eden in Genesis. Eden was a place where humans were immersed in God’s Presence, where life was cultivated and multiplied. This same picture is given in today’s home, so we can manage our own greenhouses. Greenhouses have gardens, where each represents individual relationships to maintain and tend the soil. The nutrients in each garden require us to maintain healthy levels of water, fertilizer, seeds, air, and light. January 18, 2026We are entering week two of our Vision and Mission series, where we are exploring the realities of our future, today. This week, we are looking at the identity and function of the Church. As we examine the story of Gideon in Judges 6-8, we find a small remnant of 300 people who form an army that defeats their enemies, numbering 135,000, in a decisive yet unorthodox victory. This is the picture of the Church: we are at war against the principalities and rulers of this world, not with human weapons but with those that dismantle strongholds. When we get together, a small group can see a massive multiplication effect in our cities because there is little that can stop the Church. It’s only the absence of godly men and women that allows evil to triumph. The Church is a force to be reckoned with when we come to a full understanding of our true identity, built on revelation and formed to heal, prosper, and build cities. January 04, 2026The baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire is not a spiritual accessory designed for charismatic circles; it is God’s appointed means of empowering His people to live and witness beyond human ability. Jesus Himself did not begin His ministry without the Spirit, showing that mission without power is incomplete. Through the baptism of the Holy Spirit, believers receive deeper intimacy with God, boldness for witness, victory over the flesh, strength in prayer, and spiritual gifts to build the Church. This gift is promised by God, but it is received by those who hunger, ask, and depend fully on Him rather than themselves. The prophet Isaiah had a life-changing, dangerous encounter–behind the veil of the temple–with the profoundly holy God of angelic warriors. In this encounter he came undone, believing himself to be doomed simply by being a sinful man in the presence of the King. Then, at an atoning touch, he was radically transformed and joined the mission of God. December 14, 2025Our tendency is to read the Bible as if we are the main character. We read it to affirm what we already know, infer our own presence as the hero of the story, and get our ego stroked by false affirmations. Instead, the Word offers another function in reading: it trains, it equips, and it shapes like fire and a hammer. The story of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15 may be better titled if the focus is not on us, but on God. It’s a story about a father who recklessly loves his two sons. He showers the one with unrestrained celebration and offers all he has to the other as an excessive act of mercy. Our hearts are prone to connect with the younger or the older son, but the real connection is to keep our hearts dwelling on the central character of the story, the prodigal’s father. 11-23-25God uses our weakness and need for community to form us and reveal His glory, and sometimes calls us to embrace our neediness. Just as Paul needed the earthly confirmation of others and begged for prayer despite his spiritual greatness, believers are taught that God’s power is perfected in weakness and that growth and “becoming” often involve suffering and pain, which shouldn’t be resisted, as it is part of God’s plan. 11-09-25The messaging of this world specializes in noise, crowds, and busyness, and we are all surrounded by it. Messages telling you to be more, that you deserve more, and to get what you want. The solution for years has been for us to attempt to suppress those desires, hoping they will go away. Rather than suppression, Thomas Chalmers offers substitution as a solution—substituting a lesser affection with a greater love of Jesus. The best way to do this is by entering the story of Scripture, experiencing Jesus, and keeping the fire of our hearts kindled. We look to John 5 as an example of how our affections for Jesus can be stirred as His power, grace, love, and vision are fully on display. 11-02-25We have been in a slow burn series about stewarding the passion and Presence of God in our hearts, like a fire.  Fires do not remain lit by accident; it takes diligence and time and fuel. With every encounter of God’s Presence, there is an equal demand for a response. When God’s Presence comes down to encounter with people, there may be two totally different responses.  One response draws us closer to God, and the other draws us away. How we respond makes the difference in entering more into the heart of God, the will of God, the peace and love of God, as opposed to being bitter, immature, isolated, and weary. 10-26-25There was once a gospel that shook the world around it to its core, turning over societies, bringing a revolt, and inverting the culture. This gospel that was first introduced upon the arrival of Jesus was a seriously offensive gospel, compelling many to forsake their entire life to obtain the one great prize—Jesus. We need to come back to the power and love of this message again, returning not just to its simplicity and genuine call but to the center of the Good News, God Himself. This gospel once pushed so hard on its current society it actively opposed anyone who held its message, to the point of riots, imprisonment, and even death. Paul said that he is not ashamed of that gospel, for it has the power of salvation. God takes this common element and uses it for extraordinary, even supernatural purposes. 09-28-25In light of the state of our hearts and our nation because of a shift that is happening all around us, we are taking a small pause from the Slow Burn series in order to care for our hearts. In preparing for our 7-day fast this week, we are talking about how these present difficulties are working maturity in us. Paul tells the troubled Corinthian church a great parable of the treasure that is inside of our broken bodies. He tells us of a great renewal and eternal weight of glory that goes beyond comparison—but this all takes place in the midst of hard times. 09-21-25This weekend, we gathered in anticipation to see our hearts fully set free and living in breakthrough. Jesus came to set our hearts free, and we tend to take Him at His Word. We made space to grieve, let our hurting hearts have space to mourn, and most importantly, connect them to a God who will restore us. As we looked through the book of Lamentations, it paralleled much of what we are seeing today: a city that is in ruins. As Jerusalem was in physical ruins, the spiritual condition of our cities is being destroyed by the slow erosion of sin. There is order to Lamentations’ structure, just as there is in our lives, but in the middle of our routines, we are interrupted with pain and disorder that sin brings. Yet in the middle of this poetic and well-ordered book, there is a heart cry of Truth. In 3:22-24, we are reminded that in the middle of the pain, God’s steadfast love never ceases. It’s truths like this that our hearts need to wait on, to listen intently to, so that in chapter 5, we can live out verse 21. Restore us to yourself, O Lord, that we may be restored.
