44: Pressing Pause to Reflect and Refocus

Welcome back friends. Today’s episode is going to be a little different. Instead of diving into a leadership lesson or career strategy, I want to talk about the power of taking a step back. Sometimes, the most important move you can make in your career - and in your life - is to pause, reflect, and realign before moving forward. And that’s exactly what I’m going to be doing with this podcast. Why Pausing Matters As a leader, you were probably taught to keep pushing, keep producing, and keep showing up without stopping.  But the truth is, nonstop momentum isn’t always progress.Email me at [email protected] to get more details on The Executive Reset Workshop!Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 43: The Executive Reset: Stop Drifting, Start Leading Intentionally

Let me ask you something -  have you ever looked up, realized it’s September, and thought: “Wait a second… wasn’t it just January? Where did the year go?” I hear this all the time from executives and have thought it myself.  You’ve been buried in meetings, racing through emails, putting out fires… and suddenly another quarter, another year, has slipped by.  And instead of being proactive, you feel reactive - drifting instead of driving. Today, I want to talk about what happens when you don’t hit pause, and how a September reset can help you get intentional again - with your career, your health, and your life outside of work. And I’ll also share something new I’m offering this fall that’s designed to help you do exactly that.Email me at [email protected] to get more details on The Executive Reset Workshop!Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 42: HR Requires Clear Communication Now More Than Ever

Have you ever said something that made perfect sense in your head… only to be met with blank stares from the people you’re talking to?  Maybe you’ve repeated it - maybe louder this time - only to get the same confused reaction. Well, I’ve been there. In today’s episode, I’m going to tell you a story that involves SeaWorld, my kids, and a very famous whale - and I promise, there’s a point.  Because whether you’re leading an HR team, presenting to the C-suite, or just trying to get your own kids to cooperate for a photo, how you communicate can make or break the moment. I’ll explore how intention doesn’t always equal impact, why clarity is kindness, and what this has to do with your role as an HR leader.  Plus, I’ll share some practical communication strategies you can start using immediately to increase trust, connection, and influence. Let’s dive in.Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. Have you ever felt like you’re waiting for the perfect moment to make your next move? Maybe you’ve been thinking about a promotion… Or shifting your role into something more strategic… Or stepping into a bigger leadership identity. But instead of making the move, you’re… researching. Planning. Tinkering with your LinkedIn. Reading yet another article. Talking yourself in and out of it. If that’s you, I want you to really hear this:You can’t steer a parked car.You have to get moving. Not perfectly. Not with the full roadmap. Just forward. Today, we’re going to talk about what it really costs to stay in park - and how to start moving without spinning out. And if this resonates with you, I invite you to book a free discovery call with me. 40: Stop Running on Autopilot: Take Back Control of Your HR Career and Life

Have you ever looked up from your jam-packed calendar and thought, “How did I get here?” You’ve been busy. You’ve been grinding. You’ve been putting out fires left and right.  But somehow... you’re still in the same place. If that feels familiar, you’re not alone. As HR professionals and high-achievers, we’re often the go-to problem-solvers. We’re trained to react, to pivot, to keep things moving. But here’s the truth: You can’t lead effectively when you’re stuck in reactive mode.  You can’t steer a parked car. And you can’t move forward while standing still. In today’s episode, we’re going to talk about how to break out of autopilot - how to stop running from task to task and instead lead your life and career with intention. I’ll share a personal story from my childhood that taught me the power of organization and intentionality in the face of constant change.  And I’ll walk you through a simple framework to help you shift from reacting to strategically creating the life and career you want. Let’s dive in.Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 39: Busy Doesn’t Equal Better, And What To Do About It

You know the feeling: another back-to-back day, another week that flew by, another month where your goals stayed untouched because – well - everything felt urgent. Your calendar is full, your inbox is overflowing, your team leans on you constantly… and yet, at the end of the week, you're wondering: "What did I actually get done that mattered?" If you’re nodding along, this episode is for you. After 30+ years in HR leadership roles, I’ve seen exactly how often “busy” masquerades as success. But the truth? It’s a trap.  One that’s exhausting, discouraging, and holding a lot of smart, capable HR professionals back from the leadership impact they know they’re meant to have. Today, I want to talk about why you stay stuck in cycles of nonstop activity… and how to break free from that spin so you can shift from “overwhelmed operator” to intentional leader. You don’t have to keep spinning. Let’s get into it.Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 38: Bragging Rights: Why HR Leaders Must Learn to Own Their Wins

Hi friends. Today’s episode is a little personal - and I hope I’m not alone and this will resonate with many of you. Let me ask you something: Do you ever struggle to talk about your accomplishments? Do you cringe when someone says, “Tell me about what you’ve done”? Do you default to phrases like “we did this” or “the team made it happen,” even when you led the entire thing? If you’re nodding right now, you’re not alone. And good, I’m not alone. In this episode, I’m sharing how 20 years of using “we” language - while noble - actually made it harder for me to own my impact. And more importantly, how I’ve learned to shift that without feeling like I’m bragging. Let’s dive in.Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 35: You Don’t Have to Fit the Mold to Lead Like an HR Executive

Today I want to talk to you about something that comes up more often than you’d expect - even among smart, capable HR professionals. I was having a conversation the other day with a talented HR leader. She’s experienced, driven, and respected. But she said something that really stuck with me. She asked: "Can I really be successful if I show up as me? Or do I have to fit into some executive mold that doesn’t quite feel like mine?" Maybe you’ve asked yourself a version of that question too. 👉 “Do I have to be louder?” 👉 “More aggressive?” 👉 “More ‘corporate’?” 👉 “Less emotional?” 👉 “More like… them?” The short answer? No.  You don’t have to become someone else to be successful. But - you do have to learn how to think like an executive. That’s what today’s episode is all about.👉 Save your spot for the free 3-part HR leadership series here → https://lnkd.in/epERAEZCKristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 34: From Stalled to Strategic: How I Reclaimed My Career and Rebuilt HR’s Reputation

Let me take you back 10 years - I was a high-performing HR professional, but I hit a career wall.  I didn’t see a path forward. Promotion felt out of reach.  And what made it harder? My organization wasn’t even interested in looking at internal candidates for promotion … because our HR department had a reputation problem. We were seen as transactional. As blockers. As the “no” people. Can you relate to that?  And leadership feared that promoting someone from within would just keep things the same. I knew that if I didn’t change something - I would stay stuck. So I made three crucial shifts. They weren’t easy, and they didn’t happen overnight - but they worked. ✅ I was offered the HR Director role. ✅ We completely shifted how the organization sees HR. ✅ The department is now known as a strategic partner, not a roadblock. Keep listening as I’m going to dive into the three things I discovered are essential in moving your career forward.👉 Save your spot for the free 3-part HR leadership series here → https://lnkd.in/epERAEZCKristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 27: Is Your HR Office Viewed As The Dentist Office?

I had some dental work done the other day and as I was sitting there with my mouth wide open, that little suction tube gurgling in my ear, it occurred to me… the dentist and I have a lot in common. And not just because I’ve had my fair share of dental work done over the years. But because I’ve regularly heard through the years – “You never want to be called into a room and then see HR sitting there.” “You don’t ever want to go see HR.” “The only time to call HR is when something is wrong.”Sound familiar?Just like no one wants to go to the dentist, no one really wants to get called to the HR office. It usually signals a problem - conflict, compliance issues, maybe even job uncertainty. But the truth is: both dentists and HR professionals play essential roles in preventing long-term damage. The earlier you as an HR professional are involved, the healthier the outcome - whether we’re talking gums or teams. So today, we’re diving into how to transform the perception of HR - particularly in those hard moments - by using your executive leadership skills to build trust, navigate tough conversations, and shift the culture.Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 26: “Don’t Be Afraid. Be Focused. Be Determined.”

Today’s episode is centered around a quote I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. It’s from Michelle Obama. She said:“Don’t be afraid. Be focused. Be determined.”Simple. Powerful. And incredibly relevant to HR leaders.Because let’s be honest - fear is part of the journey. Whether you're navigating a tough conversation, advocating for a seat at the executive table, or preparing to step into your first C-suite role, fear shows up.But it’s what you do with that fear that matters.Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 25: Traditional HR Executive Presence Doesn’t Work Anymore!

Early in my career, I thought success meant being perfectly polished all the time.  You know the look: tailored suit, calm voice, always in control, never showing emotion.  I believed that was what executive presence meant - and honestly, a lot of us in HR were taught to think that way. But that version of leadership? It’s outdated. Today’s workplaces are craving something different. Leaders who are real. Leaders who are relatable. Leaders who are human. The real secret to executive presence? Drop the act. In this episode, I’m going to talk about how to be a truly authentic leader and why being vulnerable is a game changer.Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 24: Are You Dying From A Thousand HR Papercuts?

When you’re asked the question – Are you dying from a thousand HR papercuts? You may automatically think about all the little administrative tasks that steal your time and energy. And that is an entirely fair assumption. We all get stuck in the daily minutia that is essential, but doesn’t necessarily move the needle in your career. Today, however, I’m talking about your Personal Brand.    That’s right. In today’s highly competitive business world, having a strong personal brand is essential to breaking through the noise and positioning yourself for executive opportunities.  If you're stuck dealing with endless HR "papercuts," you might be missing the opportunity to establish yourself as a leader and influencer in your field. So, let’s dive into why your personal brand matters and how you can begin to build it -because it’s one of the most powerful ways to move from “just” a good HR professional to a great HR leader.Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 23: Is Kool-Aid the Key to Your HR Success?

Have you ever heard of a limiting belief? It’s that little voice inside your head that tells you that you aren’t good enough or smart enough or too old or too young or you don’t have enough time. Those beliefs can stem from past experiences, criticisms, or societal expectations. But the worst part, is that you believe them to be true. Those beliefs stop you from achieving, accomplishing or even pursuing your dreams. A limiting belief can also manifest as making you think that the things that you’re currently doing don’t matter or aren’t good enough. That the little steps aren’t important and, unless you’re making big moves, you aren’t successful. I’ve certainly had my share of limiting beliefs over the years. I can even remember a vivid example of one of my first limiting beliefs when I was 6 years old.Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 22: Have You Built Your HR Ark?

Regardless of your religious or spiritual affiliation, you’ve probably heard the story of Noah’s Ark. Where God told Noah that he was going to destroy the world and Noah should build an ark and put two of every kind of animal on it. I want you to think about something for a minute - It wasn’t raining when Noah built the ark. This may seem like a no-brainer, but when you really think about it, there’s a deep lesson here. Noah didn’t wait for the storm to hit before he started preparing.  He didn’t wait until the skies darkened, the winds picked up, or the floodwaters started rising. He took proactive steps well before disaster struck, which ultimately allowed him to survive and thrive when the storm came. As an HR leader, you’re likely no stranger to uncertainty. The landscape of work is always shifting.  If you're only reacting to the storm though as it happens, you’ll find yourself constantly scrambling to stay afloat. But like Noah, the key to success is preparation before the storm hits.Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 21: Is It Time To Reset Your HR Self?

Whether you’re already leading a team or on the path to becoming an HR executive, you know that the road to success can sometimes feel like a series of hurdles—challenges you’re expected to solve on a daily basis, decisions that require your expertise, and the constant balancing act of leading others while also managing your own career growth. But here’s the thing: When you're so focused on pushing forward, there's a tendency to forget one critical component of growth. That’s the need to occasionally hit pause and reset. Has your computer ever started glitching or running slowly? I know it has. And when you call IT support what is the first thing they ask you? Say it with me – did you turn it off and turn it back on again???Seems simple, right? Yet, this simple action can often solve a number of problems and help the system get back on track. Well, the same principle applies to your career.Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 20: The One-Foot Principle for HR Growth

In today’s episode, we’re diving into a topic that speaks directly to the heart of what you do every day: balancing priorities. As an HR leader, your role is filled with decisions that affect your organization, its people, and your own professional growth. Whether you're juggling recruitment, leadership development, compliance, or employee engagement, there’s never a shortage of things on your plate. On top of that, you're expected to advance your career, develop your executive skills, and, of course, maintain a strong personal brand.  It can often feel like you're spinning plates, constantly reacting to the next urgent task that demands your attention. So, how do you keep it all in motion without feeling overwhelmed? How do you avoid burning out while still making meaningful progress toward your goals?  The truth is, it comes down to how you manage your energy, how you navigate your time, and—most importantly—how you shift between acceleration and reflection. In today’s episode, I’m going explore what I call the One-Foot Principle. A simple but incredibly powerful concept that can help you understand when it’s time to push forward and when it’s time to pull back.  It’s all about finding the right balance between action and pause, between growth and reflection—so you can navigate your career with more intention and clarity.Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 19: How To Keep Your HR Conversations From Going Up In Smoke

One of my favorite things about summer is spending time around a bonfire at night. There’s something almost magical about watching the flames dance under the stars. But there’s an interesting process that happens when you're making that fire that always gets me thinking about communication. When you build a fire, you start with a few small embers—maybe from a match, or some dry twigs. Then, you blow gently on those embers to encourage them to catch, to grow, to ignite into a full-fledged flame. But if you blow too hard, too quickly, the fire can go out. You’re left with nothing but a pile of cold ashes. Now, I know this sounds like a strange analogy, but think about your communication like the ember in a bonfire. Your words—the things you say to others—are the breath of life, but how you say them can either nurture or extinguish the energy and connection you’re trying to create. In this episode, I’m going to talk about the two crucial components you need to master in order to effectively approach those inevitable difficult conversations. Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. Welcome back to my HR Higher Version podcast where I want you to become a higher version of yourself. No matter what stage you are at in your career, or what level you want to achieve, you can always strive to be a better version of yourself. If you’ve been listening to my podcast, you probably know that I have worked in the field of Human Resources for over thirty years. Early on in my career I knew a few C suite professionals who had executive coaches. I thought it would be amazing, but left it at that and didn’t explore it further. Knowing what I do now – I wish I would’ve looked into the prospect seriously. But to be honest, back then, I didn’t know exactly what an executive coach was and how instrumental one could’ve been in my career. Now that I have invested in my own coaching and become an executive coach myself, I want to dissolve the mystery of executive coaching for you. So what the heck does an executive coach do anyways and why is it important for your career success? 17: The Best Way to Implement Your HR Ideas

A friend of mine returned from an HR conference the other day. I asked her how it went, and she raved about the breakout sessions, the networking opportunities, and the fresh ideas she came back with.  She was buzzing with excitement about implementing all these new strategies in the office. But then, something happened. As soon as she stepped back into the office, she was hit with a tidal wave of emails, urgent meetings, and tasks that needed immediate attention.  The ideas she was so passionate about? They were quickly forgotten, buried beneath the pile of daily responsibilities. Sound familiar?Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 16: The Missing Ingredient in Your HR Leadership Journey

When I was about ten years old, I decided I was going to make cookies. Not just any cookies, mind you, but my mom’s famous butterscotch chip cookies.  They are absolute perfection—crunchy on the outside, chewy in the middle, and those butterscotch chips just melt in your mouth. Now, my mom was the expert baker, and I was just a kid. But that didn’t stop me from thinking I could totally pull it off.  I knew that the secret to her cookies, was she used an oatmeal cookie recipe and then added butterscotch chips. So I got out the recipe and all of the ingredients. As I started to combine the ingredients, my ten-year-old mind told me, 'If I’m making butterscotch chip cookies, I should replace the oatmeal in the recipe with the butterscotch chips.'  After all, I was making butterscotch cookies, not oatmeal cookies, right? Well, let me tell you—big mistake. Those cookies came out flat—like, really flat. They didn’t have the texture or the structure they were supposed to.  The butterscotch chips didn’t hold it together. Something was definitely missing. Sure, the chips were sweet, but without that hearty base from the oatmeal, they just didn’t work. Now, you might be asking, 'What does this have to do with my journey as an HR professional working toward the executive level?' Let’s dive in.Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 15: Discover the Key To Overcoming HR Setbacks

Today we’re diving into a theme that might sound simple but carries a powerful lesson for leadership: “I’m OK.”I want to take you back to when my kids were little. You know, those early years when they’re constantly on the go, running around, tripping, falling, and then bouncing back up like nothing happened? I’m sure you’ve seen it—little ones trip and fall, and before you can even react, they’ve already popped back up and exclaimed, “I’m OK!” It was like their way of telling the world, “No big deal, I’ve got this.”I remember one specific time, my son was running up the stairs, full of energy, like only a young child could be. We heard a sudden stumble, and then... silence. My husband and I both froze, waiting for him to call out or for the sound of a cry. And then, from the hallway, we heard his voice, clear as day: “I’m OK.”Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 14: How a HR Lunch n Learn Changed My Daughter’s Life

Today I want to share a story that’s a little bit unexpected—about how sometimes the most impactful moments in our lives come from things we weren’t particularly interested in at the time. It’s all about being open to new ideas and finding opportunities when we least expect them. I want to take you back to a time when I was working as a Benefits Analyst. I had many different responsibilities—one of which was setting up lunch n learns for employees. These sessions were meant to provide valuable information, but I'll be honest, not every topic excited me. One of those topics was about sleep apnea. At the time, I wasn’t particularly invested in the subject. So I introduced the speaker, kicked off the lunch n learn and sat in the back of the room only half paying attention to what was being said.  Then one sentence the speaker said, made me sit straight up and pay attention.  Little did I know, that lunch n learn would end up being pivotal in my family’s life.Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 13: How to Shine Light on Your HR Potential

Imagine for a moment that you’re in an art museum. You walk into this beautiful, grand space filled with incredible works of art—paintings, sculptures, installations—each one more impressive than the last. Now, picture this: The lights are off. You’re surrounded by masterpieces, but you can’t see any of them clearly. The beauty is there, but it’s hidden in the dark.Sounds a bit frustrating, doesn’t it? You know something amazing is in front of you, but you just can’t fully appreciate it.Here’s the twist: You are the artwork. And your leadership potential is the masterpiece that needs to be illuminated for the world to see.In today’s episode, we’re going to explore how you can shine a light on your own HR leadership potential. Just like a museum needs light to make its art visible, you need the right tools, strategies, and mindset to bring your unique leadership qualities to the forefront.Without that light, even the most extraordinary potential remains hidden, unseen, and underappreciated. So, let’s dive into how you can turn the lights on in your career and ensure your leadership is not just visible, but shining brightly.Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 12: Become an HR Leader, Instead of an HR Follower

Today we’re diving into a question that could completely transform how you view your role within your organization: Are you an HR Leader or an HR Follower? Now, before you jump to conclusions, let me clarify what I mean by this. I’m not talking about your title or your level of authority. I’m talking about your approach, your mindset, and the way you show up in your work every single day. Are you proactively shaping the direction of your HR career, or are you waiting to be told what to do? To bring this to life, let me share an embarrassing fact. My husband and I love to dance—well, he loves to dance, and I love to think I can lead. A few weeks ago, we were at a social event, and as we were dancing, I could tell we were out of sync. He kept pulling me in one direction, and I kept trying to go another. Finally, he stopped mid-dance and said, "Would you quite trying to lead!” In that moment, I realized how true it was—on the dance floor, as in life, someone needs to lead for things to flow smoothly. And here's the thing: in the workplace, especially in HR, we often find ourselves in a similar dance. The question is, are you following someone else’s lead or are you taking charge of your own HR career, shaping your team’s direction, and creating a strategic presence at the executive table?Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 11: Mastering the Art of Asking Strategic HR Questions

If you’re an HR professional, just like many other professionals, I’m sure you've asked your fair share of questions in your career. But, do you know when to ask them—and when to hold back? That’s the question we’re tackling today. If you’ve been around a two-year-old, you know they ask a lot of questions, often starting with ‘Why?’ And while asking questions is crucial for learning and clarifying things, there’s a point where the constant questioning can become tiring.I’ve worked with supervisors who express frustration about employees who ask too many questions. When you’re new, asking questions is expected. But as you progress in your role, it’s important to assess when questions become counterproductive. So, how do you strike the right balance? How do you know when to ask more questions, when to ask more strategic questions and when to pull back?"Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 10: A Blue Raspberry Candy Can Save Your HR Career

The other day I was leaving a meeting and the office had a dish of candy at their reception counter. So on my way out the door I grabbed a blue raspberry Jolly Rancher – because they are the best flavor of jolly rancher, right!!! Later that afternoon, I stuck my tongue out in the mirror to see if it was blue. Of course it was, but I also noticed a black spot on the side of my tongue. Now I guess I don’t typically look at my tongue, so although I didn’t really know how long it had been there, I know it’s not been there my whole life. I didn’t remember biting my tongue or anything that would have caused the spot. In about 3 weeks I had a dentist appointment anyways so figured I would keep an eye on it and ask the dentist at that time. The dentist thought it was probably nothing, but consulted with his oral surgeon friend to be safe. The surgeon agreed it was probably nothing and I’ll just keep an eye on it. Had it actually been a problem though, and had it not been for that blue raspberry jolly rancher – who knows how long it would’ve been before I discovered it. So, my question for you is – what things in your career do you not look at or think about very often? Let’s talk about how you can regularly monitor your career so that you don’t miss the warning signs that could indicate disaster.Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 7: What Makes You Stand Out as an HR Professional?

Dolly Parton once said, “Figure out who you are and do it on purpose.” It’s a powerful sentiment, and one that speaks directly to the heart of personal branding. As HR professionals, the path to leadership requires more than just experience or technical skill; it calls for intentionality in shaping how others see you. This begins with a clear understanding of your values—those guiding principles that shape your actions, influence your decisions, and communicate what you stand for.Just as Dolly suggests, success in leadership requires knowing who you are and living that out with purpose. Values are a defining component of who you are, and they’re more than a checklist of good qualities. They are aspirational, guiding you not just in who you are now, but who you want and need to become in order to reach the Executive level. In this episode, we’ll explore how aligning your values with your career goals sets the foundation for an impactful personal brand.  Are you ready to figure out who you are and start doing it on purpose?Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 6: Do You Know If You Have Accomplished Your HR Goals?

In addition to daily goals, I set three bigger weekly goals that I want to accomplish. I usually set aside a specific time that I can reflect on the previous week and then set my top three things that I want to accomplish for the upcoming week. This has been a particularly busy couple of weeks for me. And I’m embarrassed to say that I didn’t spend as much time as I should have, or be as intentional as I should have, on setting my goals for this past week. I knew I wanted to focus on some healthier eating habits, but was in a hurry and didn’t take the time to think through what that would look like. Instead, I simply wrote “eat healthier breakfasts” as one of my weekly goals. So, guess what happened? When it came time to reflect on the past week, I had no idea whether or not I had accomplished my goal. Did that granola bar I grabbed as I ran out the door on Tuesday count as a “healthier breakfast”? And “healthier” than what? How do you know if you have accomplished your goals? Let’s dive into 3 strategies to make sure that you do know.Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 5: Transforming Errors into Leadership Lessons

Have you ever had that sinking feeling when you realize that you’ve made a mistake? Of course you have, we’ve all made mistakes. Mistakes happen.  Maybe it was a missed deadline, a miscalculated decision, or even a miscommunication with a colleague. We’ve all been there.  But there are few things that I hate more than making mistakes. I kick myself and wonder how I could’ve let this happen. I’m embarrassed. And though I work on correcting the mistake immediately, I often dwell on the fact that it happened for days! What I have to remind myself of though, is that while mistakes can feel daunting, they can also serve as powerful catalysts for growth and improvement. Everyone makes mistakes. And if we’re honest, you probably aren’t making any progress or pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone, if you don’t make a mistake or two at some point. But what you do after those mistakes, is what truly sets you apart. It’s in these moments that your character is revealed and your leadership potential is tested. So, what should you avoid doing when mistakes happen, and what proactive steps should you take instead? Let’s dive into four key areas. Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 4: How Solutions Can Skyrocket Your HR Career

In the dynamic world of HR, challenges are inevitable—be it staffing issues, employee conflicts, or navigating new regulations. But how you address those challenges can significantly shape your career trajectory. Imagine walking into a meeting with your boss, ready to discuss an issue, you explain the problem, but when asked for solutions, you’re left speechless. What impression does that leave?A lack of solutions not only demonstrates a passive approach but also signals to your boss that you might not be fully engaged or proactive in your role.As we get started today, think about the moments when challenges arise in your workplace. Are you the person who simply points out the issues, or do you step up to provide actionable solutions? Let’s explore the power of being proactive and how you can transform problems into possibilities. Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time. 3: The One Thing That's Better Than Having More Hours In Your Day

Wouldn’t it be great if we had more hours in our day? Or would it really be the solution we’re hoping for? The idea of more time sounds tempting, but would it actually solve our problems, or just add to the chaos? I mean, who among us hasn’t wished for that extra hour to finally catch up on work, dive into that project we’ve been putting off, or even just take a breather? But let’s be honest—would more time actually make things better, or would we just fill those extra hours with even more of the same things that keep us overwhelmed? Today, we’re diving into a crucial yet often overlooked aspect of time management: not just how we spend our hours but how we can strategically reclaim our time, set boundaries, and prioritize what really matters. Because, at the end of the day, it’s not about having more time—it’s about making the most of the time we already have. Let’s talk about the one thing that can break you free from the overwhelm, work smarter, and finally take control of your schedule instead of letting it control you.Kristen Wade helps HR professionals  who want to reach the executive level,to stop putting out fires and become more strategic with their time.
