Letting Go
"Just let go" they say......like somehow that's easy, like somehow that will fix everything, like somehow that will change my life in an instant. What does that even mean?Letting go for me was/is a process. It begins with awareness...as in, hey, my shoulders are super tight. It allows a softening to occur, a breath deep into the belly to be taken, and some simple check in to come back to the present to happen.Letting go doesn't have to be all at once. Yet, the beauty of letting go is that it creates space to receive abundance.

Lesson from boxing.....meet the problem where it's at, then decide.I learned from my boxing coach that more power comes from "catching" a punch from an opponent than from trying to swat away their incoming arm. This "catch" protects your body, stabilizes position, and gives leverage to decide next move. That's empowered radiance.

Healing is accepting you can't do it all. In fact, it was never your job to do it all. Too often our identity to enmeshed with 'saving others'. When we begin to understand who we are in pur authenticity, we can begin to untangle the unhealthy responsibilities we've taken on and release them.

Taking accountability......back to this! Yet, how can we move forward in our healing if we don't take accountability for our actions or emotions. Yes, we need to take back the pain, grief, and anger we attempted to discharge through numbing, running away, or fighting.Taking it back is only temporary. With the proper tools, the emotions can be properly processed to release allowing true healing.

Willingness to Change
Transformation doesn't happen overnight. Too often we see others in their radiance and believe it was easy for them to achieve. Granted, a small percentage of people were taught as children healthy coping strategies and had access to excellent resources that allowed them to navigate life's challenges from a healthier state.However, most people make a conscious choice for change. Whether a life challenge that acted as a catalyst, or conscious choosing, it requires a willingness to change.

Anchoring Into A Safe Harbor
Fight, Flight, Freeze, & Fawn.....and perhaps just F@*k off! The last one is my interpretation of "I'll show you!" Otherwise, combining the first four strategies into a determination to prove my worth. Coping strategies develop when we don’t feel safe, seen or loved. They helped us survive our environment but sadly, they become patterns of behavior that can be obstacles to the very thing we desire. Healing opens the door to change patterns and create safe anchors of love.

"That's how I look from the back?"
Body Image.....UGH! It's all I seem to think about. Am I thin enough, strong enough......enough is enough!I decided to love myself just as I am (warts, stretch marks, and rolling curves). Part of that journey was to do a semi nude photo shoot. Remaining calm during a cardiac arrest, just doing my job!Rescuing a coworker off a tall tower, all part of the training!We easily take for granted the incredible feats we do on a daily basis. Yet, it takes a toll on our nervous system, regardless of our training. Everyone, and I do mean everyone, needs support; to be witnessed in the incredible gifts being offered and given an opportunity to decompress and regulate their nervous system.

Go THROUGH The Scary Trench
Life is hard! Life is overwhelming! And so, we find ways to DEAL.......we avoid, shutdown, numb, forget, disassociate, overeat, etc.Has that really worked for anyone? If anything, I believe it creates another layer of issues to be dealt with. So, let's expose the pain in a safe, gentle way that allows those events to be witnesses, held, and nurtured. Don't be afraid of the scary trench, it's just your past needing some compassion.

Would've, Could've, Should've
Spiraling into blame and shame isn't helpful. Shame says "I AM bad". Blame projects our pain amd discomfort away from us.However, guilt (or radical responsibility) owns our actions, emotions whole separating us from the item; ie, "I DID something bad". It creates a pathway to make change an create growth.

Sorry, sorry, sorry
How many times during your day do you apologize? And how often are those apologies warranted? "I'm sorry" has become overused with no meaning; or perhaps it's a filler instead of being vulnerable or accountable. Bottom line, constant apologizing doesn't create healthy connections. Instead, offer gratitude. When gratitude is given, the other person feels seen and appreciated and it gives you a sense of value.
