Know Surrender

A Podcast discussion on events and talks given at Bootle Protestant Free Church . These are not sermons but thoughts on a sermon. You can find the sermon on our youtube site  https://www.youtube.com/@bpfcWhy "know Surrender" it is taken from a pamphlet I was given some years back and is a play on words. "No Surrender" is of course a well know phrase  but to "know Surrender" that is to surrender your self to the Lord Jesus, the Christ is more than a well known phrase. It is the key to eternal life.

The Final Stones: The Church, Resurrection, and Life Everlasting

Send us Fan MailWe examine the concluding portion of the Nicene Creed, framing its final doctrines as a protective wall that secures the Christian faith against modern errors. This theological boundary is built upon four pillars of the Church: its spiritual unity, its consecrated holiness, its universal nature independent of Roman institutionalism, and its strict adherence to apostolic scripture. Beyond the nature of the Church, the text highlights the bodily resurrection and eternal life, distinguishing these from mere existence by defining them as a glorious transformation and endless fellowship with God. By affirming a physical rather than purely spiritual afterlife, the sources argue the Creed rejects false concepts like universalism and annihilation. Ultimately, these teachings are presented as a source of believer’s assurance, grounding the faithful in a shared history and a certain future.Welcome to Know Surrender—a podcast about learning what it truly means to surrender to Jesus Christ. The Whole Armor of God and the Spirit of St. George

Send us Fan Maila St George’s Day sermon delivered by Reverend William Anderson, which uses the legendary figure as a metaphor for spiritual perseverance. He encourages believers to "slay the dragons" of a modern secular world by actively assuming the role of ambassadors for Christ and maintaining their faith through personal hardship. Central to his message is the biblical concept of the "full armour of God", a collection of spiritual tools including the belt of truth and the sword of the Spirit, which represents the internal presence of God. The Reverend emphasises that avoiding being "left behind" at Christ's return requires a sincere, internal decision to follow God rather than merely leading a virtuous life. Ultimately, the text serves as a call to action for Christians to remain courageous and visible in their convictions instead of quietly withdrawing from society.Welcome to Know Surrender—a podcast about learning what it truly means to surrender to Jesus Christ. The King Returns: Judgment and the Everlasting Kingdom Revelation 21:1-7

Send us Fan MailWe examine the theological significance of the Nicene Creed’s teachings regarding the Second Coming of Christ. Through a detailed analysis of biblical prophecy and the everlasting kingdom, the text explores how the return of Jesus represents a restoration of creation rather than mere destruction. The author argues that divine judgment should be viewed as a source of hope and justice for the faithful, rather than a cause for fear. By contrasting the humility of the incarnation with the majesty of Christ's return, the sermon encourages believers to live with spiritual readiness and purpose. Ultimately, the materials describe the eternal reign of God as the definitive end to human suffering and earthly injusticeWelcome to Know Surrender—a podcast about learning what it truly means to surrender to Jesus Christ. The Holy Ghost: The Spirit of Truth and Protection

Send us Fan MailWe examine the divinity, personhood, and essential role of the Holy Spirit within the framework of Christian doctrine. Using the imagery of a protective wall, the texts explain how the Spirit safeguards the church against theological error, human self-reliance, and internal division. The author clarifies historical linguistic shifts, noting that "Holy Ghost" and "Holy Spirit" are synonymous titles for the third person of the Trinity. Detailed emphasis is placed on the Spirit’s work in convicting, regenerating, and preserving the individual believer through a life of faith. Furthermore, the material highlights that the Spirit acts as a divine mediator, empowering the church and ensuring that spiritual life remains anchored in scripture. Ultimately, the sources present the Holy Spirit as an active, eternal presence indispensable for salvation and the maintenance of orthodox belief.Welcome to Know Surrender—a podcast about learning what it truly means to surrender to Jesus Christ. The Malefactor and the Martyr: A Testimony of Grace

Send us Fan MailWe explore the transformative nature of faith by contrasting the biblical accounts of the criminal on the cross and Stephen, the first Christian martyr. The author highlights how the thief achieved salvation through simple recognition of Christ’s divinity without adhering to religious rituals or doctrines. In contrast, Stephen’s sacrifice demonstrates a bold, public proclamation of faith and a vision of Christ's authority in the face of persecution. By examining these figures, the speaker argues that divine grace is intended for flawed individuals struggling with doubt rather than the self-righteous. Ultimately, the narrative presents communion as a vital spiritual refreshment that encourages believers to remain steadfast despite the pressures of a secular world.Welcome to Know Surrender—a podcast about learning what it truly means to surrender to Jesus Christ. The Pillars of the Gospel: Crucified, Risen, and Ascended

Send us Fan MailWe discuss a theological examination of the Nicene Creed, specifically focusing on the historical reality and spiritual significance of Jesus Christ’s suffering, death, and resurrection. The texts argue that the gospel is rooted in factual events witnessed by many, rather than mere metaphors or myths, serving as the essential anchor of Christian assurance. Central to this perspective is the doctrine of substitutionary atonement, where Christ’s sacrifice is viewed as the necessary payment to satisfy divine justice and reconcile humanity with God. By detailing his burial and ascension, the author emphasises that these milestones form a protective wall for the church, preserving the integrity of the faith against modern theological erosion. Ultimately, the materials present these scriptural truths as the beating heart of a believer's hope, ensuring that salvation remains a finished work of divine grace rather than human effort.Welcome to Know Surrender—a podcast about learning what it truly means to surrender to Jesus Christ. The Hinge of Salvation: The Mystery of the Incarnation

Send us Fan MailWe  examine the theological significance of the Incarnation, focusing on the belief that Jesus Christ is simultaneously fully divine and fully human. These texts argue that this dual nature is a fundamental necessity for salvation, as only a sinless human could represent mankind, while only God possessed the power to overcome the weight of sin. Central to this miracle is the interaction between divine initiative and human response, highlighted by the Holy Spirit’s overshadowing of Mary and her willing consent. Furthermore, the documents suggest that because God took on physical form, every aspect of human life is validated, healed, and given a new pattern for holy living. Ultimately, the sources present the Incarnation not merely as an abstract doctrine, but as the essential hinge of the Christian faith that reconciles humanity with the Creator.Welcome to Know Surrender—a podcast about learning what it truly means to surrender to Jesus Christ. The Descent of the Saviour for Human Redemption

Send us Fan MailIn this podcast we examine the theological significance of the Nicene Creed’s declaration that Jesus Christ descended from heaven for the sake of human salvation. They emphasise that because humanity is inherently fallen and incapable of self-rescue, the incarnation represents a deliberate act of divine grace rather than a response to human effort. This pre-existence confirms that Christ is the eternal Son, whose voluntary humility in taking on human form provides a bridge between a holy God and a sinful world. Furthermore, the texts present this doctrine as a protective barrier against various heresies, such as the false beliefs that Jesus was merely a moral teacher or that salvation can be earned. By defining the scope of this mission as being for all people, the documents clarify that while the need for rescue is universal, the work itself remains exclusively a divine achievement. Consequently, the incarnation is framed as the essential foundation of the Gospel, ensuring that the Creator remains near and compassionate to His creation.Welcome to Know Surrender—a podcast about learning what it truly means to surrender to Jesus Christ. The Eternal Son: Begotten Not Made

Send us Fan Mail We examine the theological weight of the Nicene Creed’s declarations regarding the eternal nature of Jesus Christ. By distinguishing between being "begotten" and "made," the texts argue that Christ is not a created being but shares the exact divine essence as the Father. This shared substance, or homoousios, establishes His total equality in nature and worship, which the authors view as a necessary shield against various historical and modern heresies. The documents maintain that if Christ were merely a creature, He would lack the divine power required to reconcile humanity to God and grant eternal life. Furthermore, they assert that while His divinity makes salvation possible, His human nature is what makes that rescue complete. Ultimately, these excerpts present the Creed as a protective wall that ensures believers put their trust in a true, uncreated Saviour rather than a powerless substitute.Welcome to Know Surrender—a podcast about learning what it truly means to surrender to Jesus Christ. I believe in One Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son

Send us Fan Mail We examine the Christological foundations of the Nicene Creed, specifically focusing on the declaration of Jesus Christ as the "only-begotten Son of God." The text presents this confession not as a human invention, but as a protective wall that preserves the biblical gospel against ancient and modern distortions. By exploring titles such as "Lord" and "Christ," the author emphasizes Jesus’s divine nature, eternal existence, and unique relationship with the Father. The study distinguishes Christ’s eternal sonship from the status of Adam or adopted believers, arguing that his deity is indispensable for human salvation. Ultimately, the material serves as a theological guide to ensure that the Church maintains a scriptural understanding of Jesus as both fully man and fully God.Welcome to Know Surrender—a podcast about learning what it truly means to surrender to Jesus Christ. The Foundation of Faith: God as Maker of All Things

Send us Fan MailIn this podcase we dicuss if the doctrine of God as Creator serves as the indispensable theological foundation for the entire Christian faith. By affirming that the universe is an intentional divine work rather than an accident, the texts argue that the gospel’s message of sin and redemption only makes sense within the context of a created order. This belief acts as a protective wall against modern errors like materialism and nihilism, while simultaneously defining the human role as one of stewardship and dependence. Furthermore, the sources suggest that the deity of Christ and the necessity of the resurrection are logically tied to God's identity as the Maker of all things. Ultimately, acknowledging one's status as a creature is presented as a means of establishing inherent dignity and grounding a life of purposeful worship.Welcome to Know Surrender—a podcast about learning what it truly means to surrender to Jesus Christ. The Nicene Foundation: One God and Father Almighty

Send us Fan MailWe discuss  a recorded sermon and its written transcript focusing on the foundational opening of the Nicene Creed. By examining Genesis 1, the text establishes that monotheism and the sovereignty of God as the sole creator are the essential bedrocks of Christian theology. The materials explain that identifying God as both "Father" and "Almighty" offers believers a sense of personal relationship combined with the security of an all-powerful protector. This theological framework is presented as a protective wall that defends the faith against modern distractions like idolatry, secularism, and existential fear. Ultimately, the sources argue that without accepting this initial confession of a supreme Creator, all subsequent religious doctrines lose their structural integrity.Welcome to Know Surrender—a podcast about learning what it truly means to surrender to Jesus Christ. The Legacy of Jacob and the Faith of Joseph

Send us Fan Mail In this episode explore the conclusion of the book of Genesis, focusing on the deaths of Jacob and Joseph and the theological significance of their final years in Egypt. They highlight how Joseph exercised divine sovereignty to forgive his brothers, choosing to view their past betrayal as a necessary part of God’s plan to preserve their lineage. While the patriarchs adopted Egyptian funeral rites, such as embalming and formal mourning, they remained spiritually distinct by insisting on burial in the Promised Land. Joseph’s refusal to seek retribution demonstrates his belief that justice belongs to God, allowing him to offer mercy and provide for his family. Ultimately, his instructions regarding his bones serve as a prophetic witness to his faith that God would eventually lead the Israelites back to Canaan. Through these narratives, the texts emphasize themes of redemption, the providence of God over human malice, and the identity of the patriarchs as faithful pilgrims.Welcome to Know Surrender—a podcast about learning what it truly means to surrender to Jesus Christ. Jeremiah’s Pattern: A Call to National Repentance

Send us Fan MailWe  examine the biblical book of Jeremiah, specifically Chapter 7 as a spiritual framework for evaluating the modern United Kingdom. Rather than viewing prophecy as a mere prediction of future events, the texts define it as a divine revelation of God's character and a moral mirror for society. The author identifies a recurring scriptural pattern where nations blessed by God eventually trade genuine obedience for empty religious rituals and social injustice. By drawing parallels to contemporary British life, the materials argue that national vulnerability stems from a rejection of holiness and a reliance on past heritage. Ultimately, the message is presented as an act of mercy, urging the church to lead through sincere repentance to avoid the consequences of spiritual drift. Through this lens, the prophet’s ancient warning serves as a timeless invitation to redemption rather than an inevitable forecast of doom.Welcome to Know Surrender—a podcast about learning what it truly means to surrender to Jesus Christ. The Heritage and Principles of Protestant Dissent

Send us Fan MailThis episode explore the historical foundations and modern applications of Protestant Dissenting identity, a tradition defined by its independence from state control. Originating from the 1662 Act of Uniformity, this movement prioritises the authority of Scripture and liberty of conscience over hierarchical or political mandates. The texts clarify that Dissenters maintain a principled critique of the Church of England as a state institution while continuing to respect Anglican believers as fellow Christians. This identity manifests in simple, Word-centred worship and a servant-hearted leadership model that avoids performance in favour of pastoral care. Ultimately, the documents describe a faith that is locally governed, courageous in its convictions, and committed to biblical fidelity regardless of social or political pressure.Welcome to Know Surrender—a podcast about learning what it truly means to surrender to Jesus Christ. Providence and Power: Liturgies for King William III

Send us Fan MailWe discuss a specialised religious service established during Queen Victoria's reign to commemorate the arrival of King William III. The liturgy combines specific prayers and biblical readings intended to express gratitude for the preservation of the Church and the British government from perceived tyranny. By incorporating scriptures such as Romans 13 and Luke 9, the service emphasises the importance of obeying lawful authority and maintaining a spirit of Christian mercy rather than vengeance. These rites were designed to reinforce national loyalty and the stability of the monarchy against historical threats and conspiracies. Ultimately, the text serves as a formal act of thanksgiving that petitions for the continued safety and prosperity of the reigning Queen and the realm.Welcome to Know Surrender—a podcast about learning what it truly means to surrender to Jesus Christ. The God Who Blesses the Next Generation Genesis 48

Send us Fan MailWe examine the biblical narrative of Jacob blessing his grandsons, Ephraim and Manasseh, as a profound illustration of divine sovereignty and generational faithfulness. By deliberately crossing his hands to favour the younger son, Jacob demonstrates that God’s purposes are not restricted by human traditions or natural birthrights. The texts emphasise that spiritual adoption into God's family is a permanent act of grace facilitated by a mediator, mirroring how believers are brought to the Father through Jesus Christ. Jacob’s retrospective gratitude for God’s lifelong guidance serves as a testimony of reliability, assuring future generations that the divine covenant remains secure. Ultimately, the materials suggest that God's plans transcend human logic, ensuring that His promises outlive any single individual to sustain a continuous line of faith.Welcome to Know Surrender—a podcast about learning what it truly means to surrender to Jesus Christ. Liturgy of Deliverance: The Gunpowder Plot Commemoration

Send us Fan MailWe explore liturgical service from the Book of Common Prayer intended for annual use on the fifth of November. These religious rites were designed to commemorate the providential escape of King James I and the English Parliament from the Gunpowder Plot of 1605. The text details the structured sequence of prayers, psalms, and biblical readings that clergy were required to perform during the reign of Queen Victoria. Throughout the liturgy, the language emphasises divine intervention and mercy as the reasons the monarchy survived a "bloody-intended massacre". By providing specific collects and hymns, the source illustrates how the Church of England formally integrated this historical deliverance into its seasonal worship.Welcome to Know Surrender—a podcast about learning what it truly means to surrender to Jesus Christ. Joseph and the Famine: The Price of Survival - Genesis 47

Send us Fan MailWe examine the narrative of Genesis 47:13-31, focusing on Joseph’s management of a severe famine and the subsequent socio-economic transformation of Egypt. While Joseph successfully preserves life, he does so by systematically acquiring the money, livestock, and land of the Egyptian people for Pharaoh, eventually reducing the citizenry to a state of servitude and state dependency. In stark contrast, the family of Israel thrives in the land of Goshen, remaining protected from these hardships through Joseph’s direct provision and divine providence. The texts reflect on the moral complexity of Joseph’s actions, weighing his harsh administrative policies against the broader goal of national survival. Ultimately, the analysis suggests that these events serve as a theological foreshadowing, illustrating how God orchestrates human history and suffering to ensure the ultimate redemption and preservation of His people.Welcome to Know Surrender—a podcast about learning what it truly means to surrender to Jesus Christ. The Divine Shield of the Spiritual Little Ones

Send us Fan MailWe explore the grave spiritual consequences associated with harming or misleading individuals defined as "little ones" in the Christian scriptures. The author argues that this term extends beyond young children to encompass new converts and vulnerable believers who are humble in their faith. By referencing the biblical imagery of a heavy millstone, the passage illustrates the severity of divine judgement facing those who cause such followers to stumble or sin. It serves as a stern warning to religious leaders and institutions against distorting biblical truths or exploiting the weak. Ultimately, the source emphasises that God provides special protection for all who are spiritually fragile, regardless of their physical age. This teaching underscores a collective responsibility to nurture and defend those at the beginning of their journey with Christ.Welcome to Know Surrender—a podcast about learning what it truly means to surrender to Jesus Christ. Providence and Identity in the Land of Goshen - Genesis 47:1-12

Send us Fan MailThe biblical narrative of Genesis 47:1–12, detailing the arrival of Jacob’s family in Egypt and their strategic settlement in the region of Goshen. Through Joseph’s careful preparation, five brothers were presented to Pharaoh to request land, a number chosen for its symbolic association with grace and its cultural favour in Egypt. By identifying as shepherds, the family avoided total assimilation into Egyptian society, maintaining a distinct spiritual identity while receiving the best available pasture. The texts highlight the profound moment when Jacob blessed Pharaoh, demonstrating that true spiritual authority transcends worldly power or royal status. Ultimately, the accounts serve as a lesson in divine providence, showing how God provides for His people in foreign environments without requiring them to compromise their values. Modern applications are also explored, encouraging believers to navigate contemporary society with integrity, wisdom, and steadfast faith.Welcome to Know Surrender—a podcast about learning what it truly means to surrender to Jesus Christ. "No Surrender" is of course a well know phrase  but to "know Surrender" that is to surrender your self to the Lord Jesus, the Christ is more than a well known phrase. It is the key to eternal life.
