Lace Up And Listen

Lace Up & Listen is a space for honest conversations about movement, emotions, and figuring out life in real time. This channel isn't about perfection or pace..it's about what movement teaches us when things don't go as planned. Here you'll find raw reflections, test episodes, and conversations rooted in running, recovery, curiosity, and showing up even when the answers aren't clear. If you're navigating change, rebuilding trust with your body, or learning how to move forward without having it all figured out...you're in the right place. What if it works out?

What It Costs To Be Honest

This episode is about honesty. The kind we avoid, the kind we soften, and the kind that eventually finds us anyway.I talk about what it looks like to stop lying to yourself in running, in life, and in the way we show up online. The difference between how things feel and what's actually true. The cost of protecting a version of yourself that no longer fits. And what happens when you finally face something you know for a while. This one is real-time. Not polished. Not wrapped up neatly. Just where I'm at, what I'm learning, and what I'm working through. If something in this hits...it might be something you already know.

  2. 15

    Same Path. Different Perspective.

A catch-up episode in the truest sense. We talk perspective, how the same experience can feel completely different depending on how you show up to it. From Pilates to race weekends to life in general. I share my experience at SeaWorld’s Seven Seas 5K, reflect on a Springtime Surprise weekend that didn’t go as planned (in the best way), celebrate our community through the Rundees, and shout out some incredible London Marathon finishes. This one isn’t about having it all figured out. It’s about showing up in the middle of it anyway.

    Do It Sad

I almost didn't record this episode. Not because I don't care, but because everything in my life feels heavy right now. And I don't have the clarity I'm used to bringing into this space. But instead of waiting until I feel better or have it all figured out, I'll do it sad. This episode is a real time check in. No polished message, no perfectly packaged takeaway...just me being honest about what it looks like to keep going when things feel uncertain.I talk about what this runDisney season has meant to me, briefly, the highs, the setbacks, and the community that's keeping me grounded as I head into Springtime Surprise Weekend at Walt Disney World Resort. And more than anything I came back to this:Do it scared.Do it sad.Do it when you don't know.Because sometimes the win isn't having the answers...it's not disappearing.

    Your Body Isn't A Formula

What if you're not underfueling...you're overfueling? In this episode, I'm breaking down how I went from blindly following fueling formulas to actually learning what my body needs, and why those "one size fits all" recommendations might be holding you back more than helping you.We talk about the reality of overfueling, GI issues, sodium overload, and why effort, not just time or distance, should guide how you fuel. I also share how using power changed the way I understand my runs, and why heart rate alone doesn't tell the full story. This episode goes deeper into my personal experience training with Ulcerative Colitis, navigating food limitations, fatigue, and the constant balance of trying to fuel enough without overwhelming my system. If you're training for a race, following advice you've seen online, or just trying to figure out what actually works for you, this is your reminder that your body is not a formula.Take what resonates, leave what doesn't, and start learning what works for you.

    You're Not Starting Over

This year, I've only run 77 miles outside of racing. And for a second, I thought that meant I was losing everything I worked for.But the more I sat with it, the more I realized...I'm not starting over.In this episode, I'm breaking down the difference between completely stopping and actually maintaining your base. We talk about what a base really is, what's happening in your body when you build it, and why you don't lose your fitness as quickly as you think you do.I also get into the pressure a lot of us feel to always be training, always progressing, always chasing the next race...and how that mindset can quietly lead to burnout.Because a hard truth is, most of us aren't getting paid to do this..but we're structuring our lives like we are.So this is a conversation about finding balance. About doing enough without doing everything. About staying connected to running without letting it take over your life.If you've ever felt like you're falling behind, like you've lost your fitness, or like you have to start over every time you step away...you're not starting over.

    Who Belongs At runDisney?

In this episode, I'm diving into a conversation that's been everywhere lately... Who belongs at runDisney?I talk through the debate around training vs. no training, walkers vs. runners, and the idea that some people are "taking spots" from others. I break down why that argument isn't as solid as it sounds, and how quickly we start making assumptions about people we don't actually know. I also share my perspective as someone who values training and effort, but refuses to turn that into a reason to exclude others. For me, this all comes down to one thing: Awareness. Not your pace, not your finish time, not your corral...but how you show up in a shared spaced and how you treat the people around you.I close the episode with some personal updates-where I'm at mentally, what I'm training for right now, and what this next season is looking like for me.If you've had thoughts about this conversation, or if you've ever questioned where you fit in as a runner, this one's for you.

Before You Register...What I Wish I Knew About Race Seasons

What does it mean to actually take to run a full runDisney season? In this episode, I reflect on the pressure of chasing the “perfect” race calendar and what I’ve learned from stacking race weekends like Wine & Dine, Dopey, Princess, and Springtime Surprise. I talk about the things I didn’t fully understand when I first started doing this many races in a season and how injuries, burnout, strength training, and recovery eventually forced me to look at my training differently. If you’re thinking about signing up for multiple races or wondering how to balance training, recovery, and longevity, this episode is my honest reflection on what it really means to train for a season instead of just a single race, and the questions I think runners should ask themselves before filling up their calendar.

  8. 9

    Learning To Pace

In this episode of Lace Up and Listen, I talk about the long road that led me to pacing a friend through a goal race and what that experience revealed about running, discipline, and recovery. This episode explores the training philosophies that changed how I approach endurance, including aerobic base building, structured marathon training, and the mental side of pacing effort. I talk about learning to slow down, building consistency through structured training, and how endurance running teaches patience in ways that spill into the rest of life.Along the way, I reflect on how running helped rebuild trust in myself during addiction recovery and why movement has become the space where I process life. This episode is about pacing a race, but it’s also about pacing growth. Sometimes the most important lessons show up in the miles that didn’t go exactly as planned.

  9. 8

    Just Twenty Minutes

Episode 8 is about running through life, not just miles. I reflect on what happens when goals don't fit your life, when pressure builds in running communities, and why sometimes the bravest thing you can do is adjust your plans. From Chicago Marathon overstimulation to the quiet stretches of racing at Walt Disney World, I explore how movement helps process anxiety, how to coach yourself through every run, and why your running goals should belong to you, not someone else.Whether you're chasing big races or just looking for space to move, this episode is about finding the freedom in the sport we love.

Movement Beyond Miles an Interview with @therunninghippie

In this episode, I sit down with Marissa (@therunninghippie IG) to talk about movement, longevity, and the role cross-training can play in supporting runners.Marissa brings a deep background to this conversation with 20 years of yoga practice, 10 years of running, and 7 years of Pilates. She’s also a certified personal trainer, a certified mat and reformer Pilates instructor, and a certified yoga instructor.Together we talk about how different movement practices can complement running, how strength and mobility influence the way we move through our training, and why learning to listen to your body matters just as much as logging miles. This conversation isn’t about chasing perfection. It’s about building a sustainable relationship with movement as a woman, understanding how different disciplines support each other, and exploring what it means to move well for the long run.

  11. 6

    I Miss the Old runDisney

runDisney used to feel different. Slower, quieter, and more accessible. But as the community grows, so do the dynamics, the expectations, and sometimes the exclusion. In this episode, I unpack my own experiences navigating friend groups, intentional and unintentional exclusion, and the rise of toxic behavior, while exploring how you create your own meaningful experience. From registration chaos to the pressure of costumes, from finding your why to choosing your hard, this episode is about showing up, connecting authentically, and preserving the heart of a community that is supposed to be inclusive for everybody.

  12. 5

    Undefined

In this episode, I share my journey from autopilot training to intentional living, revealing how aligning my actions with my true motives led to real progress. I discuss how asking the right questions transformed my running and life, and why doing less might actually lead to more joy and growth. This is perfect for anyone ready to move beyond the surface and build a sustainable, fulfilling running life.

  13. 4

    Learning To Stay

In this episode I will explore the theme of movement and the struggle to stay present. I share some personal stories about my journey through running, dealing with injuries, and the emotional challenges of pausing to truly absorb life's moments. I reflect on how survival instincts have shaped my life, often pushing me to keep moving forward without fully embracing the present. This episode invites listeners to consider the value of staying with success, rest, and uncertainty, and to trust that pausing doesn't equate to abandonment.

  14. 3

    What If It Works Out?

In this episode, I share my personal journey of transformation through running and fitness. This episode is a heartfelt exploration of my resilience, self-discovery, and the impact of embracing change.
