    A True Investor

On March 3, 2026, LaCole shares an introduction to improving one's financial education and basics to becoming a true investor. There are set mindsets that separate the poor and the rich. Listen carefully and take notes to learn how to set yourself up for building wealth. Stop looking for quick fixes and become a better steward of what you have.Colossians 3:1-10 NLTEphesians 6:13-19 NLT1 Corinthians 10:31-33 NLTBook: Rich Dad’s Cashflow Quadrant: Guide to Financial Freedom by: Robert T. KiyosakiPoor people often say, “Investing is risky.”Rich people often say, “Being financially uneducated is risky.”Lacking financial education, experience, and guidance makes investing riskyInvesting is the key to financial freedom.Five things happen to people who do not invest, or who invest poorly:They work hard all their lives. They worry about money all their lives. They depend on others, such as family, a company pension, or the government, to take care of them. The boundaries of their lives are defined by money. They will not know what true freedom is.Most people learn how to work for money. You have financial freedom when you have money working for you“The more money you have working for you, the less you pay in taxes — if you are a true investor”According to Robert Kiyosaki, 401(K) plans are possibly the worst ways to plan for retirement because:TIME magazine has been predicting that millions will not have enough money to retire after a lifetime of turning their money over to strangersA typical 401(K) plan takes 80% of the profits and the investor may get 20% if they are lucky. The investor puts up 100% of the money and takes 100% of the risk so the 401(K) company makes money, even if you as the investor loses moneyTaxes work against you with a 401(K) plan at a income-tax rate of around 35%If you take the money out early, then you’ll have to pay an additional 10% penalty taxYou have no insurance if there is a stock-market crashThis retirement plan is for people who are planning to be poor when they retireSmart investors understand taxes before investingI am not saying 401(K) plans are bad, although I would never have one. For me, they are too expensive, too risky, too tax-inefficient, and unfair to the investorI believe there are better ways to invest, but they require financial education“If you are a true investor, it does not matter if the markets are going up or coming down. A true investor does well in any market condition.”“Remember that the U.S. dollar has lost 95% of its value since 1971. It will not take long to lose the rest of its value.”“The more people you are indebted to, the poorer you are…The more people you have indebted to you, the wealthier you are. That’s the game.”Proverbs 24:1-12 NLTMatthew 11:28-30 NLTYou can always improve yourself and your situation. Honor Parents and Purpose

Key OutcomesOn June 23, 2026 LaCole shared two major personal announcements with her Living Radiance group: she is leaving Faith Church to join Union Baptist Church of Chesterfield, and she has secured a new apartment moving in July 1st. The group responded with full support, framing both decisions as acts of obedience to God. The session also included a spiritually rich reflection on Father's Day, family reunion insights, and lessons from a women's conference. Encouragement for Men's Mental Health Awareness Month.AnnouncementsChurch transition: LaCole is leaving Faith Church after ~1.5 years of growing dissatisfaction with megachurch structure, nepotism in leadership, and lack of community intimacy; moving to Union Baptist Church of Chesterfield.Living Radiance continues: The connect group will remain accessible through Faith Church's platform — open to non-Faith Church members — so recordings and notes stay available.New apartment secured: 500 sq ft one-bedroom at $665/month (down from $728); gated community with security cameras, free parking, no carpet; move-in July 1st.Women's Conference: Attended a 6-hour Saturday conference at Union Baptist Church of Chesterfield for $25Decisions MadeLaCole will maintain her connect group leader status at Faith Church while personally attending UBCCGroup unanimously affirmed the church transition as God-directed; framed Faith Church as a foundation, not a final destination.Key Themes & ReflectionsMatthew 6:33 ("Seek the kingdom of God above all else") surfaced repeatedly across the weekend — at the women's conference, family reunion, and in a 5-hour conversation with Aunt Greta.Father's Day breakthrough: First year LaCole genuinely honored her late father (Lamont Purley, passed April 2014) without grief or anger; moved by a young man's testimony about forgiving his absent father.Core lesson from Aunt Greta: LaCole has carried a lifelong burden to make others proud since childhood; the reframe — make God proud first, everything else follows.Women's conference takeaway: "Throne before the phone" — prioritize God before scrolling; prayer must be intentional, not habitual. BUSY reframed as "Being Under Satan's Yoke."1 Peter 4:10 cited: Use God-given gifts to serve others, not self; serving others reduces self-centeredness and opens the door to receiving blessings.Community/village theme: Great-uncle's account of shared breastfeeding and collective child-rearing as a model of true Black community; breakdown of the village linked to isolation, depression, and generational damage. You can always improve yourself and your situation. Let’s Appreciate Good Men

Key OutcomesThe session recorded on June 16, 2025 focused on Men's Mental Health Awareness Month (June), exploring why men's mental health goes undiscussed, the systemic and social pressures men face in relationships, and how both men and women must hold themselves accountable to break destructive cycles. Biblical scripture was used to ground the discussion in themes of weakness, humility, and purposeful living.Decisions MadeMen's mental health is under-acknowledged: Despite June being Men's Mental Health Awareness Month, virtually no men LaCole spoke with — over a dozen — had raised or discussed it.Negative narratives dominate: Toxic relationship stories and "deadbeat" narratives get disproportionate social media traction; healthy relationships and good men are largely invisible online.Accountability is mutual: Women must also call out destructive female behavior (e.g., using children as weapons, initiating violence) — not only hold men accountable.False media messaging is harmful: Content framed as empowerment often deepens relational destruction; consumers must critically filter what they absorb.Key Discussion PointsWhy men don't seek mental health help: Men are socially conditioned to suppress emotions; excuses rooted in upbringing persist even when resources are widely available and visible.Relationship dynamics: LaCole's relative's situation illustrated how dismissal, lack of validation, and pressure around marriage push men away from commitment — especially when communication is broken.Legal/financial fears around marriage: Men, particularly Black men, fear divorce laws in community-property states that could strip decades of individual financial work.Co-parenting weaponization: Some mothers restrict father access and use children as leverage, yet publicly frame themselves as solo parents — a dynamic that rarely gets scrutinized.Men and grace: A father's advice shared by LaCole's boyfriend — "If she cannot offer grace, she is not someone you want to marry" — was highlighted as rare but valuable relational wisdom.Scripture References2 Corinthians 12:5–10 — Power is made perfect in weakness; leaning on Christ through hardship rather than self-reliance.2 Peter 2:1–3 — Warning against false teachers who spread destructive messages under the guise of empowerment.Hebrews 12:28–29 — Prioritize pleasing God over seeking human validation and approval.Philippians 1:6 — God completes the good work He begins; men should focus on their God-given purpose.Resources Shared • Urban League program (West Florissant, St. Louis): Men's program offering suits, interview coaching, and life navigation support — not limited to formerly incarcerated men.You can always improve yourself and your situation.
