The movies are jam-packed with ideas, from spectacular effects only shown onscreen for seconds to provocatively odd or poignant narrative themes. Juan Piquer Simon’s 1988 movie SLUGS sics millions of black, writhing, gooey gastropods on a small town of hilariously hateful and rude characters, resulting in some gnarly SFX moments and sexual subtext. But 1972’s FROGS doesn’t have nearly enough critters!! It’s got Sam Elliott and an interesting bayou mansion setting, but not enough actual webbed-hands-around-throats action :(Which film is the scariest and the squishiest? Do these movies actually make us care more about the environment or just wanna stomp it to death? How did Noah overcome his childhood leech fear ?
