We study Exodus 14:19-31 and Romans14:1-12. "The angel of God who is going before the Israelite army" as a pillar of fire and cloud supernaturally protects the Israelites as the waters divided and allowed the Israelites to pass while the Egyptians were tossed into the sea and "not one of them remained." Ex14:31 "Israel saw the great work that the LORD did against the Egyptians. So the people feared the LORD and believed in the LORD and in his servant Moses." We talk about fear of the LORD and His saving grace. We then discuss Romans 14:1-12 that explicitly states Rom 14:8-9 "For we do not live to ourselves, and we do not die to ourselves. If we live,we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord; so then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's. For to this end Christ died and lived again, so that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living." ...Rom 14:10-12 "For we will all stand before the judgement seat of God; for it is written, "As I live says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me and every tongue shall give praise to God'. So then each of us will give an acount of himself to God." Our God is sovereign!

We continue the lectionary study of Exodus 12:1-14, Romans 13: 3-14, and Mathew 18: 15-20 and ddiscuss the pattern of redemption and salvation revealed through God's institution of Passover, and the blood of the lamb on the lintel of the door as saving grace. We discuss God's institution of Passover as a day of remembrance for all generations in perpetuity. "This day shall be a day of remembrance for you." We discuss the foretelling of the blood of Yeshua as our salvation by grace through faith when it is "painted on the lintel of our hearts". We discuss the similarities of communion, and Yeshua/Jesus at the Passover seder/last supper saying of the wine, "Drink of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins."

We discuss Exodus 3:1-15 and God's calling Moses through the supenatural experience of the "angel of the Lord appearing to him in a flame of fire out of a bush". Moses turned aside to see, God called him personally and Moses responded "Here I am". God identifies Himself first as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and Moses was afraid to look at God and hid his face. God tells Moses that He has heard the cries and the sufferings of His people and that He has "come down to deliver them and to bring them up out of that land to a good and spacious land flowing with milk and honey". Moses inquires God how to answer if His people query: "What is His name" and God reveals to Moses His name as "I am who I am", , "I am has sent me to you", and "the LORD, the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob has sent me to you." "This is my name forever, and this my title for all generations".

We discuss this week's lectionary readings, Mathew 16:13-20 and Romans 12:1-8. In Mathew, Yeshua/Jesus asks the disciples "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?" Simon Peter answers,"You are the Messiah, the Son of the Living God." Yeshua says, "Blessed are you, Simon, son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you but my Father in heaven." We discuss the "keys to the kingdom of heaven" given to Simon, renamed Peter (rock), which is confessing Yeshua/Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of the living God. We tie this with Paul's appeal in Romans 12 "to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your reasonable act of worship. Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of the mind, so that you may discern what is the will of God...".

We discuss the lectionary scriptures of Genesis 45 and Joseph as a typology of Jesus/Yeshua and God's plan for preserving the "Israelites" through Joseph. As summarized in Gen50:20 "As for you, you meant for evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today." The gospel reading in Mathew 15 tells the story of Jesus healing a Canaanite woman's daughter tormented by a demon because "great is her faith". In Romans 11:1-2,29-32, Paul a descendant of the tribe of Benjamin, states "For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable." He states that both gentile and Jew have been disobedient and need God's mercy through Yeshua. Romans 11:32 "For God has imprisoned all in disobedience so that he may be merciful to all." God's plan and gift of redemption and salvation "by grace through faith" in Yeshua for all nations as promised to Abraham cannot be broken!

Rich Robinson longtime Scholar in Residence with Jews for Jesus shares his personal testimony of coming to believe in Yeshua/Jesus as the Messiah in 1973 at age 19. He shares some of this observations and wisdom about the cultural/social and theological impediments for Jewish people to hear the gospel. He shares how important it is to understand what the individual believes as there is no "standard" set of beliefs. He also shares the importance of being sensitive to antisemitism and how important it is to lead with establishing a personal relationship with the individual that demonstrates caring and respect.

We continue studying the lectionary with Genesis 37 and the story of Joseph being sold into slavery by his brothers. We discuss Joseph as a typology of Yeshua. Then in the Gospel reading,Mathew 14:22-33, we see Yeshua walking on water and then Peter beginning in faith, then doubting, and sinking and Yeshua saying "You of little faith, why did you doubt?". Yeshua calms the wind and and the disciples worship him saying, "Truly you are the Son of God." In Romans 10:5-15 we see Paul define the righteousness that comes from faith:Rom 10:9-11 "because,if you confess with your mouth that Yeshua/Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For one believes with the heart, leading to righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, leading to salvation. The scripture says, 'No one who believes in him will be put to shame.'"

We discuss Genesis 32:22-31 when Jacob wrestles with "the man" and and Jacob will not let him go until he is blessed. Jacob is renamed "Israel" because he "has striven with God and with humans and have prevailed." We discuss the meaning of the name change and its context for the nation of Israel. Next we discuss Romans 9:1-5 and Paul's wrestling with Rom 9:2 "great sorrow and unceasing anguish in his heart" for his brothers and sisters in the flesh , the Israelites, even to the point of wishing that he himself, Paul, Rom 9:3 "would be accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my own brothers and sisters."

We discuss the importance to sharing the gospel with Jewish people from the point of view of One New Man. Replacement theology and Dual Covenant theology are false representations of God's plan for redemption of all nations through the cross of Yeshua. Yeshua's once and for ALL atonement is meant to tear down the dividing wall of hostility between Jew and gentile, so that we all have access through one Holy Spirit to the Father. As Christians we should cultivate love, gratitude, and mercy towards the Jewish people for their gifts of faith to the nations, while still sharing the reason for our hope in Yeshua. This is the appropriate heart posture for sharing His love.

We discuss the gift and beauty of Romans 8:26-39. Rom 8:27-28 "And God who searches hearts, knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. Rom 8:31-32 "What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not withhold his own Son but gave him up for all of us, how will he not with him also give us everything else?". Rom 8:35 'Who will separate us from the love of Christ/Messiah?" Rom 8:38-39 "For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels,nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."

We discuss Romans 8 and the meaning of salvation by grace and the gift of the Spirit of life versus the bondage of sin and death. We discuss our position as co-heirs with Yeshua and its meaning for our life in Messiah.

We discuss the lectionary for the fifth Sunday after Pentecost: Genesis 22:1-14 which demonstrates Abraham's obedience in faith to be willing to sacrifice his son Isaac. We discuss how Abraham's faith in the promises of God, and Hebrews 11 insight into Abraham's faith in the resurrection. We discuss God's forshadowing Yeshua in Gen 22:8 "God himself will provide the lamb for a burnt offering,my son." We continue with Romans 6 and compare and contrast being "under law and under grace". Paul discusses how by grace through faith in God's provision of His Son for payment for our sin should result in our obedience and being "enslaved to righteousness."

Dr Rob Solberg discusses the Jewish roots of the early church as we delve into the social/political divides and theological misunderstandings that led to the sin of replacement theology and antisemitism.

We discuss the lectionary for Third Sunday after Pentecost: Genesis 18:1-15, Romans 5:1-8. In Gen 18 The LORD appears to Abraham and promises the birth of Isaac as fulfillment of His promises even at Abraham and Sarah's advanced ages. Gen 18:14 "Is anything too wonderful for the LORD?" And at the appointed time Isaac was born! God's faithfulness to His promises is certain. Rom 5:8 "God proves his love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us." Romans 5:1 "Since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand, and we boast in our hope of sharing the glory of God." Rom5:5 "and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us."

In Genesis 12:1-9 the Old Testament reading for this week, we see God setting Abram apart consecrating him unto the LORD, and Abram in faith taking actions of trust leaving his home. Abram's faith is reckoned to him as righteousness as Paul says in Romans 4. Abram's faith results in God's covenantal promise "I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curse you I will curse, and in you all families of the earth shall be blessed." This covenant is joined with verse Gen12:7 "Then the LORD appeared to Abram and said, "To your offspring I will give this land." Psalm 33:12 reiterates "Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage."

Join us as we discuss the lectionary for Pentecost Sunday including Acts 2:1-21 and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the supernatural violent wind and divided tongues of fire sharing the gospel in different languages. This catalyzes the spread of the gospel through much of the world at that time. We also discuss 1 Corinthians 12 which talks about the different gifts of the Holy Spirit for the building up of the body of Messiah/Christ, many members one body.

For the Seventh Sunday of Easter, the lectionary scriptures are Acts 1:6-14 and 1Peter 4:12-14,5:6-11 and John 17:1-11. We start by discussing the importance of the ascension of Yeshua and Yeshua's current position at the right hand of God interceding for us. We discuss 1Peter4 directives to humble ourselves, discipline ourselves, and resist the enemy who prowls like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Finally, we end discussing Yeshua's high priestly prayer in John 17 to the Holy Father for protection and unity on behalf of those given to him.

We discuss the lectionary for the Sixth Sunday of Easter including Psalm 66, 1 Peter 3:13-22, and John 14:15-21. Peter tells us to always be ready to make a defense for the hope that is in you. "Messiah who suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteousness, in order to bring you to God." We are told to maintain a "good conscience" and "in your hearts to sanctify Christ/Messiah as Lord." "He was put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit." And he has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God with angels,authorities, and powers made subject to him". And in the gospel John 14:15-21, Yeshua/Jesus did not leave us orphaned, but he asked the Father to give us the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth to abide in us. "In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me; Because I live, you also will live."

Join us as we discuss the lessons for the fifth Sunday of easter especially concentrating on John 14:1-14 and Yeshua/Jesus statement "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you know me, you will know my Father also." How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own; but the Father who dwells in me does his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me;"

One New Man starts a new format following the revised common lectionary which usually presents a weekly Old testament, psalm, epistle, and gospel scriptural passage with common themes. We study the weekly lectionary scriptures to try to discern the most important common themes. The "Fourth Sunday of Easter" lectionary scriptures are: Acts 2:42-47, Psalm 23, 1Peter 2:19-25, John 10:1-10. Peter points to Yeshua our suffering servant prophesied to come in Isaiah 53 and confirmed in 1 Peter 2:19-25. John 10 presents Yeshua/Jesus as our "Good Shepherd" who states in John 10:7-10 "So Jesus again said to them, "Truly,truly I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly." Acts 2:46-47 describes the overflowing Spirit among the saints: "And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved."

James 5 advises against faith in worldly riches and to develop the patience necessary to endure suffering. James 5:11 says that "you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful." In the second part, we discuss James 5:15-16 advices about healing prayer: "and the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins one to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed." We discuss the power of faith in intercessory prayer, and the healing power of the Holy Spirit. "Listen, love, pray" for one another.

We study the powerful chapter four of James. James 4:5 "He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us". "Therefore it says, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." James 4:7- 8: "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded." James 4: 10 "Humble yourselves before the Lord and he will exalt you".

We learn about the power of the tongue to destroy and the necessity to tame the tongue. We discuss how James contrasts wisdom from above with earthly, unspiritual, devilish deception that causes jealousy and selfish ambition and results in conflict. James 3 ends with the blessings of “wisdom from above” which results in "the harvest of righteousness sown in peace by those who make peace”, Shalom. "Mathew 5:9 "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God".

Are we justified by faith alone? Is faith without works dead? Does transgressing the law of liberty result in judgement. Does mercy triumph over judgement? James 2 is an exciting revelation of these deep questions about the Christian walk.

We finish our study of the rich chapter James 1. We discuss temptation, desire, and sin and deceiving our hearts. We discuss perseverance, and the "law of liberty". We discuss God's mercy and grace through the forgiveness and atonement of Yeshua/Jesus. How does one have religion that is pure and undefiled, and "keep oneself unstained from the world"?

We start the study of James with the historical understanding of James, the half brother of Yeshua/Jesus. James 1 exhorts us to consider it pure joy, to persevere, to seek wisdom, and not to be double minded. Join us as we unpack James direction to be steadfast and obedient. James 1:12 "Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him."

We finish our study of the beautiful book of Hebrews discussing the exhortation to honor marriage, and to avoid the "love of money", and to trust in God who will never leave nor forsake us. And Hebrews 13:8 famously states that "Yeshua the Messiah is the same yesterday, and today, and forever". The summary of the gospel in Hebrews 13:12 "Therefore Yeshua/Jesus also, so that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate." And Hebrews 13:15-16 "Through Him, let us continually offer to God the sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. But do not forget to do good and to share. For with such sacrifices God is well pleased."

We discuss the meaning of Heb 12:23 the "assembly of the firstborn, who are enrolled in heaven". All praise and glory to Heb 12:24 "Yeshua, the Mediator of a new covenant; and to the sprinkled blood of Yeshua that speaks better than that of Abel." Hebrews 12:29 concludes "For our God is a consuming fire."

Jerry talks with Professor, of theology at Kenrick- Glennon Seminary. Larry Feingold. He traces God's "self- emptying Love" throughout Israel's history, showing how Yeshua's incarnation is the fitting (and very Jewish) culmination to Creation, Covenant, Tabernacle, and Temple.

In Hebrews 12, we discuss running the race with endurance while "looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross". As for us, Hebrews 12:4 "In your struggle against sin you have not resisted to the point of shedding your blood." Because we are daughters and sons of God, the Father disciplines us, not as punishment but Heb 12:10-11 "that we may share his holiness." "For the moment all disciplne seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness."

We continue to discuss the depth of Hebrews 11: The revelation of the creative outworking of the faith of the patriarchs Noah, Abraham, and Isaac. Hebrews 11:6: "And without faith it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He exists and that he rewards those who diligently seek Him." We discuss the forshadowing of Yeshua,the "author and finisher of our faith". Because Hebrews 11:13 says of the great "men of old": "These all died in faith not having received the promises, but having seen them from afar were assured of them, embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth"...Heb 11:16 "But they desired a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them."

We discuss the powerful definition and declaration of faith in Hebrews 10 and 11. Hebrews 10:26 issues a dire warning not "go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth". In Hebrews 10:35-36 we are told "do not to throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised." Hebrews 10:39 declares: "But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls." And then that great definition of faith in Hebrews 11:1 "Now Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen."

Pastor OS Hawkins, Chancellor of the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and author of 50 books, discusses his new book Just Jesus. He talks about the mystery of the triune God and the Jewish roots of the faith. He discusses the wrong understanding of replacement theology and the love and gratitude of evangelicals for Israel and the Jewish people. "Just Jesus" is a 365 day devotional that presents Pastor Hawkins' wisdom and teaching from all of his previous books of "the Code" series.

Deacon Keith Fornier and Lee Kanter discuss the often overlooked Nostro Aetate, the official Catholic Vatican 2 position paper from October 28,1965 that states: "Thus, the Church acknowledges that, according to God's saving design, the beginnings of her faith and her election are found already among the Patriarchs, Moses, and the Prophets...The Church, therefor, cannot forget that she received the revelation of the Old Testament through the people with whom God in His inexpressible mercy concluded the Ancient Covenant. Nor can she forget that she draws sustenance from the root of that well-cultivated olive tree onto which have been grafted the wild olive shoots, the Gentiles. Indeed, the Church believes that by His cross Christ, Our Peace, reconciled Jews and Gentiles, making both one in Himself."

We discuss Hebrews 10 and the once and for all atonement through Yeshua. Hebrews 10:10, "And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all". Hebrews 10:14 "For by a single offering, he has perfected for all time, those who are sanctified." Hebrews 10:17-18 "'I will remember their sins and their misdeeds no more.' Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin." 10:23-24 "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful and let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works."

Dr. Daniel Juster has been in the forefront of the modern Messianic movement since the early 1970s. In this conversation, Dan relates some of that history and the impact it is having on Jewish evangelism as well as cross- denominational unity. We touch on Zionism, premillennialism, and dispensationalism.
