Potter Revisited Episode #117 George with a Knife AKA Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Chapter 19 "The Lion and the Serpent" We hate Umbridge so so much Harry is feeling so good about the work he is doing in the DA Hermione creates a way for Harry to relay DA meeting dates secretly which is really cool It seems wrong that Hogwarts doesn't encourage students to be friends with others outside their house Confirmation that Hermione was almost put in Ravenclaw  Would Ravenclaw been a better fit for Hermione, especially at the beginning of the series? Hermione using the Death Eater dark marks for inspiration shows how lucky we are that she is on the good side Minerva's dedication to ensuring the Gryffindor Quidditch team wins is admirable  Snape is not putting a stop to the Slytherin's cursing members of the Gryffindor Quidditch team, +1 Sucks Point  Harry is used to the ridicule and attacks from the Slytherin's before a Quidditch match but poor Ron is not handling it well  Ron needs to remember he has punched Malfoy before and he can do it again  Luna's Gryffindor Hat is so cool! Luna is obviously very creative and very talented with magic  Tori recalls her fangirl moment when Hermione kisses Ron for good luck  Malfoy has made badges for the Slytherin's to wear - very foreboding  Who is making all these badges for Draco? Tori hates the badges, Malfoy and the fact he is a nepo baby Crabbe and Goyle have made the Slytherin team as beaters, goon Quidditch at its finest  We have missed Lee Jordan's commentary Tori struggles reading the Quidditch game, and feels so bad for Ron  Draco appears to have written and taught all the Slytherin's a terrible song about Ron to sing during the game  What song makes you want to die of embarrassment more, Ginny's singing Valentine to Harry or the Weasley is our King song? Imagine if Draco applied himself to other tasks instead of harassing Harry and Ron  Ron is not able to play well understandably, but Harry catches the snitch and is able to win the game for Gryffindor  Draco cannot let this go and continues to say disgusting things about the Weasley's to Harry and the team  George and Harry basically jump Malfoy, and it is deserved  Shay thinks they should of waited to jump Malfoy when their were no witnesses  Draco has gotten away with far too much, what he is saying is vile  Tori goes back to all the times Malfoy was hit in the series and a new counter has been made! Talk Shit Get Hit will count all the times Draco gets hit (which he deserves) Is Hogwarts (and Dumbledore) partly responsible for why Draco is the way he is?  Is Draco more emboldened in OOTP due to Lucius being in both Fudge's inner circle and Voldemort's? Was Draco surprised to be attacked? Play stupid games, win stupid prizes? George with a Knife is the new Harry with a Gun  Would you trust the Weasley twins with a spoon? McGonagall is not happy with Harry and George and plans to punish them but Umbridge arrives to make this worse Umbridge is SO petty  Umbridge confirms that she tried to stop the Gryffindor team from reforming because she has a vendetta against a fifteen year old  Umbridge gives Harry, Fred and George a lifetime ban from Quidditch unjustly, and Fred wasn't even involved in the fight  Tori hates Umbridge, and gives her +3 sucks points for being petty, being bias, being power-hungry and for being a huge bitch  How does a lifelong ban even work? It seems wrong for Umbridge to confiscate Harry and the Twins brooms since they are their property that they paid for  Harry needs a lawyer Umbridge gets another sucks point for the unfair Quidditch ban +1  Ron hasn't been seen since the game and comes back so sad and wanting to resign Harry has also had a terrible day and refuses to let Ron resign  What would Oliver Wood have to say about Harry's lifelong Quidditch Ban? Hermione tries to cheer the boys up by letting them know that Hagrid is back  Hagrid save us all!! Tori probably sweared more than Shay in this episode - a new record! Potter Revisited does not condone the author's abhorrent views and continued attacks on the Trans community and offers our support - see links below for nonprofit resources Umbridge 100% attacked Hedwig and we give her another sucks point because who attacks an Owl?  The Gryffindor Quidditch team is finally reinstated and Angelina believes McGonagall appealed to Dumbledore - Umbridge can pry her Quidditch team from her cold, dead hands! Shay is not here for practicing spells on poor frogs and birds  Hermione is uncertain about the secret Defence group now that Sirius thinks its a great idea  Harry tries to defend Sirius but he doesn't have the best track record of good plans  Is Sirius living through Harry? Potter Revisited Episode #114 I'll Have the Espresso Martini AKA Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Chapter 16 "In The Hog's Head" Never order an Espresso Martini (or any drink) from the Hog's Head Hermione has kept to herself about her idea for Harry to teach DADA for two weeks - very impressive for her  Harry is finally done his detentions with Umbridge but has a scar from her criminal methods, +1 sucks point  Hermione has advanced to vanishing kittens - does McGonagall not feel weird about that? Harry feels comfortable teaching Ron and Hermione DADA, but not with other people like Hermione suggests, which is understandable  Hermione's time management skills are impressive  Harry is subconsciously planning lessons - he was meant to be a teacher  Hermione is still in contact with Viktor Krum and Ron is losing his mind  Is Ron aware yet of why he is jealous of Krum and his feelings for Hermione? Sirius is giving Harry the cold shoulder - grow up Sirius  We love the trio experiencing their first dodgy pub together - a milestone moment  Interesting that Alberforth Dumbledore runs a dodgy pub while Dumbledore runs a school Lots of people of different years and houses join in to hear from Harry which is great for him to see  Dean Thomas comes despite Seamus' opinions on Harry and Dumbledore which is nice to see  Hermione is Harry's PR rep and is doing her best Thank goodness for Susan Bones bringing up how powerful Harry is and really saving the day  Fred and George are great moderators and really help keep the vibes positive and slyly manage the crowd  It's great that Fred, George, Angelina and others are comfortable with Harry teaching them, despite them being older  Why was Terry Boot in Dumbledore's office? Potter Revisited Episode #112 Parentified Children and Emotionally Stunted Adults AKA Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Chapter 14 "Percy and Padfoot" Everyone needs therapy in this series  Harry and Cho finally are able to have a moment  Harry's conversation with Cho is so important for his survivor's guilt  Filch trying to read Harry's mail is shady and we know Umbridge is behind it  Tori and Shay debate who Cho had feelings for first - Harry or Cedric Sirius has been outed as being in London - he really has no regard for his safety and how much Harry worries about it It would of been nice if Fred and George could of been more encouraging to Ron at his first Quidditch practice, knowing how insecure he is  Draco and co have nothing better to do with their time so they crash the Gryffindor practice  Percy's owl shows up in the Gryffindor common room - a bad omen?  Percy's letter to Ron... is not great It's nice that Percy wants to congratuate Ron on being Prefect, but then doubling down on cutting out Harry...  Was Percy persuaded to write this letter, as he urges Ron to confide in Umbridge about Harry Percy glosses over the estrangement with his family in this letter quite a bit  It's got to be so hard for Harry to see this as Percy was someone he was close to for four years prior to this  Shay thinks as a Slytherin, Ron should of pretended to cut Harry off and speak with Umbridge to find out what she was up to  Sirius randomly pops up in the Gryffindor common room fire - despite the Ministry knowing he is in London Sirius gives the trio the lowdown on Umbridge - and how racist she is  Fudge thinks that Dumbledore is training students for combat against the Ministry - is this dumb?  Sirius has no regard for his safety or how much Harry and co worry about him - planning to turn up in Hogsmede?? Sirius saying that Harry isn't like his father feels like such a low blow and immature for Sirius  Does Sirius have an idealized version of James he remembers? Potter Revisited Episode #111 Needlework AKA Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Chapter 13 "Detention with Dolores" Poor Harry, he has no safe space at the moment  The propaganda machine is awful  Hermione is right, how could Dumbledore let this happen?  The concept of the Ministry restricting students performing magic that they need to practically demonstrate for their OWLs is so dumb  Fred and George have gone ahead testing their products on students, and Ron is but in a difficult position as prefect  Hermione threatening the twins with their biggest weakness: telling their mother  Hermione leaves out handknit hats for the House Elves, putting trash on top in the hopes to free time - we get her intent but it isn't very ethical to trick them  Could House Elves even be freed this way?  This doesn't mean Ron should make fun of her knitting attempts! It's a process! The professors pushing how important their OWL exams are feels familiar to how High School teachers spoke about how serious University and College would be  Minne G gives the students a very nice pep talk, where they could all get an O in Transfiguration if they work hard and have confidence in themselves - even Neville!  Shay thinks they are exaggerating how much homework they have  Grubbly-Plank is such a great teacher... sorry Hagrid  Shay does not understand how the points system works at Hogwarts  Harry needs to stop annoying Grubbly-Plank about Hagrid  Luna lets Harry know he has her support, and Hermione picks a fight with her  Why does Luna rub Hermione the wrong way?  Angelina is channeling Oliver's intensity about Quidditch, we love that for her  Angelina does not care Harry is being gaslight about Umbridge, she has the team to think about! Harry's detention with Umbridge is... a lot  Psychological and physical torture to a minor in your care? Jail!!!!  Harry does not have parents or an adequate guardian who can advocate for him, which Umbridge knows and takes advantage of If this happened to one of the Weasley kids, Molly would be walking up to the school to commit a crime  Ron has made the Gryffindor Quidditch team! Potter Revisited Episode #110 Have a Biscuit AKA Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Chapter 12 "Professor Umbridge" Harry is not coping well with his peers thinking he is a liar, and is taking it out on Ron and Hermione  The Twins are advertising for product testers which seems like a bit of a red flag Angelina Johnson is the new Griffindor Quidditch Captain - we love women in power It is smart for the twins to conduct some kind of market research and not just focus on what they like  Being dormmates with the twins seems dangerous  The Twins debated leaving school before their last year - is this something they could actually do?  Ron and Harry think being an Aurror would be cool but Hermione is considering what she could do with SPEW after Hogwarts  It is crazy that they need to consider their futures at 15  Cho approaches Harry but Ron ruins their moment by confronting her about her Quidditch Team  Harry tries his best to make his potion but Snape won't even let him turn it in despite it not even being the worst in the class - +1 Snape Sucks point Potions seems very similar to baking - everything needs to be very exact  Shay wonders if Snape is being harder on Harry now to prepare him for what is to come. Tori thinks he's just a dick  Dream analysis would be cool to learn, Harry and Ron are haters  The trio attend the first DADA lesson with Umbridge, and she treats the class like they are a lot younger and comes off very condescending What are Umbridge's qualifications for teaching anyway? The other professors seem to have some real life experience or expertise in their fields   Umbridge reveals the new course aims, and they kids are not going to be learning defensive magic, only the theory  Having students use class time to read a textbook is such a waste of time  When the students complain about not being taught magic (valid), Umbridge decides it is a good idea to slander their previous teachers, and calls Lupin a "half-breed" - so disgusting to to, especially in front of the students. +1 sucks point We love Dean standing up for Lupin, and the fact that Imposter Moody was actually a good teacher despite being a criminal  Pavarti brings up not learning spells during an important exam year - not everyone learns through theory and if this was a normal school year we could see parents being upset  Harry calls out Umbridge for not learning defensive magic when Voldemort is back  Umbridge gaslights Harry so hard we have whiplash  Umbrige telling student to come talk to her if people are speaking about Voldemort and that she is their friend is such a red flag. Potter Revisited Episode #109 Make Hogwarts Great Again AKA Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Chapter 11 "The Sorting Hat's New Song" It is such an odd time to be rereading OOTP with its themes of government overreach  Harry sees the Thestrals pulling the carriages when Ron doesn't and is starting to think he is losing it since Luna can see them too  Harry is bottling up a lot of feelings, thoughts and emotions which isn't healthy  Luna says Hagrid is a bad teacher and tbh, she isn't wrong. Ginny, Ron and Harry have a biased view This is one of the only times where Harry is starting the year with people talking about him negatively  Harry notes that the new person at the staff table is the witch from his Ministry Hearing - while Hermione instantly infers that Umbridge is the new DADA teacher The Sorting Hat has a new song that is very different from his usual - explaining the different houses and their preferred traits This song goes into some Founders lore including rifts in friendships, ego clouding judgement and if sorting is actually a good thing and issues a warning that Hogwarts is in danger  Shay has some issues with how the hat generalizes the houses, such as Slytherin's and Hufflepuff's  Dumbledore is scandalously interrupted by Umbridge who gives a weird speech   Umbridge gives off the vibe that she has never spoken to a real child before and comes off very condescending Children should not be friends with teachers / adults, Umbridge!!! Ron and Hermione quickly realize they have Prefect Duties at the end of the feast to attend to Is Ron acting odd about his badge because he feels he doesn't deserve it, or that he doesn't want to rub it in Harry's face that he got it  Or is it more about not wanting to be like Percy, who abandoned the family? Neville is so excited that he knows the password and will be able to remember it Harry is surprised and angry that Seamus' mom doesn't believe him and Dumbledore, and how Seamus is fishing for information on how Cedric died  Dean brings up that is parents don't know what has happened because he hasn't told them - does Hogwarts not inform parents, especially muggle parents? Death of a student would be a big thing to keep hidden We love Ron standing up for Harry. Potter Revisited Episode #108 Very Right and Very Wrong AKA Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Chapter 10 "Luna Lovegood" Harry has some odd dreams after the party from the end of last chapter  It is smart of Moody to make sure Harry has a guard for his return to Hogwarts  Shay finds it odd Harry doesn't have a guard for the train We love the chaos of the days preparing to leave for Hogwarts  Fred and George knock Ginny down the stairs in the chaos  Sirius decides to come to Kings Cross as a dog, and Mrs Weasley doesn't care anymore  Lupin says goodbye by giving Harry and co a handshake - is this a british thing?  Ron and Hermione have to go to to the Prefects carriage and Harry is sad about traveling without Ron  Thank god for Ginny taking pity on Harry as she likely has her own friends she could be sitting with Harry thinking lowly of Neville makes Shay mad  We are finally introduced to Luna Lovegood as we love her  Luna is much more eccentric in the books but she is very aware of how she is perceived but will not edit herself to appease people which is nice to see  Neville got a rare plant as a gift from his great uncle, and it is so nice to see Neville's interests appreciated by someone in his family  Shay thinks that Luna and Neville make a good couple  Neville's attempt to show off his plants powers goes poorly when Cho Chang seems Harry and co covered in stinky plant sap  Hermione reveals that Malfoy and Pansy are Slytherin prefects and seems very put out by Pansy being selected rather than Malfoy Shay is very upset about Malfoy being made prefect and for the first time ever - is giving Snape +1 sucks point for it!!!  Harry borrows The Quibbler from Luna and finds an interesting article about Sirius - as adults we can appreciate how funny this is a lot more The Quibbler seems like a satire magazine except that they belief these opinions are true To be fair to the Quibbler, they do proper interviews and back up their opinions with some evidence unlike Rita Skeeter Hermione accidentally insults Luna - They are both such contrasting characters, like foils of each other which make their interactions so fun and interesting. They really are the Sully and Mulder of Hogwarts. Hermione uses logic and evidence to back her opinions, where Luna has faith and belief  Malfoy comes right on schedule to bully Harry as usual - but Harry can't really be bothered by Malfoy's typical schoolyard insults after what he has been through in GoF Harry is very worried when he sees Hagrid is not guiding the first years to Hogwarts  Harry comes face to face with a Thestral - which is he now able to see pulling the carriages for the first time  Harry being able to see them now is likely that he witnessed and processed that Cedric died in front of him, and he wasn't able to do that as an infant for his parents or could it be that he was wearing glasses when he saw Cedric die and wasn't when he was a baby? Malfoy implies he knows about Sirius' dog disguise - Harry is now very concerned about the risk Sirius took  Why do they have the Thestrals pulling the carriages at Hogwarts? Potter Revisited Episode #107 Ron Weasley, The Chosen One AKA Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Chapter 9 "The Woes of Mrs Weasley" Tori feels the need to stick up for Ron in this chapter  Harry is cleared of all charges, and Dumbledore dips without even telling Arthur what happened Percy and Arthur ignore each other  Harry and Arthur spot Lucius speaking with Cornelius and Lucius is very comfortable with his position as his goads Harry  Patronus Potter is actually a great nickname We can't wait for Lucius to be in jail by the end of OOTP - what he deserves  The "He got off" chant is so fun Everyone is happy Harry got off, except for Sirius  It is a bit immature for Sirius to be visibly upset Harry won't be an outcast with him, but we can understand why he is feeling down being suck in Grimmauld Place  The kids are back to cleaning up Grimmauld Place, and Hermione thinks a clean of Gryffindor Tower would be a great idea for SPEW We love how dedicated Hermione is to SPEW despite how Ron and Harry treat it  Why was the booklist sent out the LAST day of the holidays? Surely he should be pardoned for being late do the the quick location and time change - especially since he is a minor who cannot use the quicker transportation methods  Harry notices Percy, but Percy ignores him  What are Fudge and Umbridge's credentials to be interrogators in a criminal hearing? This feels like the Prime Minister asking you questions about a crime they think you committed as a minor Fudge has an agenda for this hearing and how he wants it to go Dumbledore makes his dramatic entrance into the hearing  Shay loves this version of Dumbledore - alert the press!  The way Dumbledore comes in, acts very calm and assertive totally undermines Fudge and his control over the hearing  Why is it such a big deal that Harry did magic in front of a Muggle when the Muggle is Dudley, who already knows about magic? We get a small hint to Scrimgeour, who plays a big role in HBP Harry's original hearing was just supposed to be him and Amelia Bones - crazy how it escalates Harry commutes the muggle way with Arthur to the ministry which brings back some great and not great commuting memories  Shay wonders if the telephone box entrance to the Ministry is too close to Doctor Who   Harry internally judging the Ministry's appearance and location when he just sees the scummy street and telephone box is great  Shay feels Harry should donate the money first to get good karma for his hearing  Mr Weasley's interactions with other members of the ministry do a great job at showing the kind of person he is - he is friendly and knows lots of people from many different departments  We debate why Eric the Security Guard seems to want to hold Harry back  Would you take a slide if it was at your office?  Are you able to demand replies from the ministry memos like Harry uses Hedwig to demand responses to his letters?  We get a small glimpse into the Aurror department  Arthur's department office really shows the lack of respect the Ministry has for it and muggle relations in general  Shay wonders if Arthur is really qualified for his job despite his passion for it  Harry's meeting place and time gets changed at the last minute - Fudge has it out for him. This wouldn't fly IRL There is also a small introduction of Bode who comes into play later in OOTP Harry is shocked that he is supposed to attend the hearing alone - shouldn't he have some kind of advocate as he is a minor? We finally get our introduction to Grimmauld Place The way access to Grimmauld place is revealed to Harry seems similar to the magic of the Room of Requirement at Hogwarts Grimmauld Place definitely gives of some particular vibes which Shay discusses as if we are in an episode of House Hunters International  Shay loves hallways and closed living  Mrs Weasley seems stressed CAPS LOCK Harry makes an appearance  Is Harry really angry at Ron and Hermione, or just taking out his anger on them?  Ron and Hermione are good friends to allow Harry to take his anger out on them and not hold it against him  The Twins can apparate now and have great instincts on defusing the tension Harry brings  Ginny also appears and interacts quite normally with Harry for the first time  We are looking forward to Ginny's transition from younger sister to an actual character  Bill is a highly respected older sibling  Fred spills the tea about Bill and Fleur  Both Bill and Charlie have joined the order to help find and recruit members, but what about Percy?  Percy had a catastrophic falling out with Mr Weasley and his family - has this been building for a while?  We understand Percy was wrong about Dumbledore and Harry, however we sympathize with him on his family not respecting or valuing his interests/ambitions  Does Percy's high ambition stem from his father not having more (according to Percy) and him viewing that as a character flaw? Does Percy have some jealousy on how Harry fits into his family compared to himself?  Harry is being slandered in the press again Would Sirius actually allow Snape to stay for dinner?  We are introduced to Sirius' mother in the form of a screaming lifesize portrait that cannot be removed. Potter Revisited Episode #101 Dumbledore, You Egotistical Nut AKA Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Chapter 3 "The Advanced Guard" This chapter is a lot more exposition and transitional than the previous two chapters that had lots of action and foreshadowing  Shay does not approve of how rude Harry is to Hedwig  Hedwig is the true MVP though  Harry is really going through the symptoms of bad mental health right now  Moody as Lupin ask Harry a question he would only know - we decide to ask each other the same  The advanced guard has come to spring Harry free with some familiar faces - Lupin and Moody - and some new faces  It interesting the way this real Mad Eye Moody is reintroduced to Harry and the readers - they don't really focus on it too much  Lupin is back and we are so excited  We are introduced to Nymphadora Tonks who we are also very excited about  Tonk's rouse to lure the Dursley's away from the house was genius. We discuss other ways it could have been done  Quite a large group came to pick Harry up - was that wise?  It was smart to include Lupin in the guard as Harry actually knows and trusts Lupin, but was everyone else necessary? Although at this point, Harry probably would have left with anyone  It is great having a mid-twenties character like Tonks in the mix, as most characters in the series so far are adults or children Tonks reveals to Harry she is a Metamorphmagus and can change her appearance at will - we wish more lore was included about this We love how nosy the team is, looking through Petunia's kitchen  It is decided that the best course of transportation is flying to headquarters - does this really seem like the most logical route? Shay and Tori debate if using a broom should count as Harry using magic  It doesn't seem too much thought went into this and it is just a plot device to get Harry to Number 12 Grimmauld Place  They just land in the middle of a muggle courtyard in London and no one notices?  Moody has Dumbledore's Deluminator - is this foreshadowing to this being important in DH?  Dumbledore - as secret keeper - wrote down the location of headquarters - isn't that risky? Potter Revisited Episode #99 The Roast of Ickle Diddykins AKA Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Chapter 1 "Dudley Demented" CW: Discussion of Suicide, PTSD We are starting OOTP! And we are almost at 100 Episodes! Tori discusses some OOTP book facts including an alternate death for Sirius and Mr Weasley potentially being killed  Tori and Shay discuss their memories reading this book  Did Taylor Swift write Father Figure for Arthur Weasley? (Note this was recorded before the release of TLOAS) Tori found OOTP a bit hard to relate to at 11 years old but is looking forward to revisiting it as an adult  This is the first book that doesn't overly recap Harry's experiences in the first chapter  Is it a red flag that Dudley doesn't know who the prime minister is?  Sassy Harry is still here and we are so thankful  Mrs Figg is back  Harry being left to deal with the trauma from GOF with little support is hard to read but also more relatable as an adult  Why is Hermione at Headquarters with Ron? Potter Revisited Episode #97 The Wisdom of Harry AKA Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Chapter 37 "The Beginning" We are finally wrapping up GoF! Harry is now left to really process what has happened to him on his own Harry meets with the Diggory's - was this forced on him or did he ask to do this?  Amos is a wreak - if he was in a better place maybe he would of made a bigger issues of Fudge trying to cover up what happened to his son Molly actually asks Dumbledore for Harry to come home with the Weasley's  Harry had to go back with no support for him in place Hagrid is a big comfort and doesn't sugarcoat things for Harry  Hagrid talks about is overwhelming faith in Dumbledore being the key to win the war - could this be foreshadowing Dumbledore's death in HBP This is the first book where the ending isn't fully resolved going into the next  Ron finally asking Krum for his autograph - iconic  Hermione reveals the truth about Rita Skeeter and what she has done... keeping her in a JAR  Unhinged behaviour  Malfoy tells Harry he backed the wrong side... but what other side could he be on since the other wants him dead?  Everyone cursing Malfoy as he is boasting is what he deserves Should the school be concerned that known deatheater kids are at Hogwarts with Harry Potter?  Fred and George also reveal the blackmail plot and how awful Ludo Bagman is  Harry forcing the Twins to take his Triwizard earnings to start a joke shop is so moving and such a great moment - especially looking out for Ron and asking them to get him new dress robes  This moment really shows Harry's wisdom and emotional growth  The tone of this last chapter is interesting as everything is not completely resolved but their is still a feeling of hope going into OOTP We discuss our overall thoughts, favourite moments, final Snape Sucks count and characters that stuck out in this book Goblet of Fire movie review is coming soon, and then we will jump into OOTP! Potter Revisited Episode #96 Gaslighting AKA Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Chapter 36 "The Parting of the Ways" We are now a Fudge Hate podcast  After learning that Moody was actually Barty Crouch Jr and everything that happened to him, Harry still needs to sit with Dumbledore and tell him everything that happened Despite it all, Harry does ask about Cedric's parents  Fawkes gives Harry the emotional support he needs, as well as Sirius Harry feels immediate comfort with Fawkes around - is this due to the wand or, or is this just what Phoenixes do?  Fawkes is basically an emotional support animal at this point  Could Dumbledore just have gotten Harry's memories of the events instead of making him relive it? Dumbledore keeps telling Harry he did beyond what was expected of him... but what was expected of him?  Dumbledore's "gleam of triumph" What does it mean?  We learn brother wands can't attack each other - what was Olivander doing making these wands in the first place?  Sirius is visibly shocked and upset about the ghostly apparitions of James and Lily - is he reliving his own trauma from their deaths? Potter Revisited Episode #95 Even More Daddy Issues AKA Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Chapter 35 "Veritaserum" Shay loves the latin ties Veritaserum has Harry has been through so much in the last few chapters - he is not the same person he was going into the maze Harry reappearing with Cedric is crazy  Dumbledore is in a hard situation with needed to diffuse the situation with a dead student yet also need to get information from Harry  Interesting that Moody taking Harry away is what clues Dumbledore in that he is an imposer Harry is being very vulnerable with fake Moody  The reveal that (fake) Moody put Harry's name in the Goblet of Fire was shocking to Tori as a kid, when you think at the moment that Moody is a bad guy  Moody says he put Harry under a fake school name - is that a poorly thought out plothole /loophole for this book? Moody didn't really help Harry as much as he implies - Harry did do all the tasks himself  Harry's reliance on Ron and Hermione almost ruins fake Moody's plans - he assumes Harry would ask everyone for help  Fake Moody attempts to kill Harry for Voldemort - what would of happened if he had tried since Harry is a Horcrux? Potter Revisited Episode #94 He Brought a Spoon to a Gun Fight AKA Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Chapter 33 "Priori Incantatem" Voldemort plans to duel Harry in front of all the Death Eaters Wormtail unties Harry from the gravestone but won't meet his eyes All Harry can recall from duelling is what Lockhart taught him  This is where expelliarmus becomes Harry's signature spell Voldemort is always monologuing and he refers to himself as death - referencing the Hallows?  Harry has been through so much these last few hours Harry just accepts he is going to die, and decides he will not let Voldemort define his death  Voldemort kind of complements James on how he died Could Harry have used a better, more offensive spell than expelliarmus? Harry hears the Phoenix Lament when the priori incantatem occurs between him and Voldemort Would priori incantatem occur for any other type of shared cores? Would it be different depending on the core?  Harry sees the ghostly apparitions of the people Voldemort has killed  Shay wonders what would of happened in Snape was present when the Lily apparition appeared Its interesting the the movies have the Lily apparition relay the information but in the book it is James. Does anyone else have "To Dance Again" from A Very Potter Musical stuck in their head?  Does Voldemort know that his father was under a love potion?  Voldemort refers to the Death Eaters as 'family' - does he even know what the word means?  Voldemort on "Conquering Death" - foreshadowing to the Horcruxes?  How much or little to the Death Eaters know about the Horcruxes?  Shay thinks it's dumb that all the Death Eaters have a visible tattoo  Harry is stuck between dissociating and shock Voldemort could be a theatre major  Voldemort naming off all his criminal members in front of Harry  Do we feel bad for Wormtail? Potter Revisited Episode #92 Villain Soup AKA Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Chapter 32 "Flesh, Blood and Bone" Voldemort soup incoming  Do readers, do we know that something bad is going to happen?  The way Cedric dies is so quick and absolute  Tori was shocked reading this as a kid  Harry is in shock - really, this is the first death Harry is really able to comprehend  After this moment, Harry is irreversibly changed  Baby Voldemort is described as looking a lot more disturbing in the book compared to the film  Wormtail provides his hand for the soup - did it need to be his hand?  What is this potion / spell? Does it only work if you have Horcurxes?  "Lord Voldemort has risen again." Potter Revisited Episode #91 Opting Out of the Opt Out Option AKA Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Chapter 31 "The Third Task" We are finally at the last task of the Triwizard Tournament! Harry feels a lot of sympathy for Neville after learning what happened to his parents, and feels a new hatred for Voldemort and what he has cost people  For the first time, Harry is properly prepared for a task  Rita has changed her tune on Harry - he really should file a lawsuit  Hermione has a brainwave about Rita and of course, does not tell Harry and Ron anything  If a champion had been Muggle Born, would their family been able to come to Hogwarts? Molly tells Amos that Rita Skeeter is a liar but seemed to believe it when it was about Hermione....  Percy is taking the Mr Crouch news very hard There are some safety guidelines implemented for the Third Task - has opting out been an option this whole time?  Was the Third Task set up to be something Harry would excel at? Harry's initial reflect when Fleur is in trouble is to help, but then thinks about the competition Does it seem wrong that Fleur is the one who always seems to struggle in the tournament? Potter Revisited Episode #90 Constant Judgement from your Predecessors AKA Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Chapter 30 "The Pensieve" We are back in Dumbledore's office  Fudge quickly backpedals when Harry calls him out  There is a lot of recapping done about Dumbledore's office but a lot of these things do come back in the series later on  Harry is so nosey, we love him for it Interesting seeing the Real Moody in the memories - we get a good idea of his character and Moody's stance on justice  We finally get the confirmation that Snape was a Death Eater  What testimony did Dumbledore do to clear Snape? It seems incredible that the government just took Dumbledore's word on Snape  Ludo getting off due to him being a celebrated athlete is too close to real life We see the court proceeding where Crouch tries his own son - did Barty Jr play up his innocence to make his father look bad?  Would Crouch's career been more affected if Barty JR had acting more like Bellatrix in the trial?  Did Dumbledore leave the pensieve out on purpose for Harry to find?  It still feels odd that Harry did not see the dream through Voldemort's perspective  We get more context to Neville's past and Harry has really great empathy  Neville's parents being alive but not cognitive feels worse than Harry's parents being dead Dumbledore will not tell Harry anything about Snape's loyalty. Should Dumbledore have given more context? Harry's mistrust of Snape hurts Harry a lot down the line Dumbledore asking Harry not to tell people about Neville's parents and letting Neville decide when to tell people seems like the only time Dumbledore has protected a student that is not Harry How does the Pensieve work and what are the main purposes? Potter Revisited Episode #84 Hearsay & Slander AKA Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Chapter 24 "Rita Skeeter's Scoop" Just like in this chapter, we are over the Christmas holidays  Hermione used SleekEasy for her hair - which is where Harry's fortune comes from  Hermione is so unfazed by Hagrid being a half-giant  Hermione and Ron are acting overly polite to each other - definitely not discussing their fight  Harry is facing the consequences for his procrastination - the 2nd task is coming up Harry is so petty, not wanting to use Cedric's advice for the egg clue  We are introduced to Professor Grubbly-Plank  Malfoy saved this article just to ruin Harry's day - Malfoy is such a Twitter guy  The interview Hagrid gave to Rita is out - but it definitely isn't the interview he gave  This is 100% slander and Hagrid should sue  The Article reveals Hagrid as a Half-Giant and how he is a vicious, terrible person/teacher.  The article is really prejudice and reminds us of the terrible tabloid media in the 90s - especially in the UK  It is nice for the students to get an actual proper lesson for once  The trio see Viktor swimming in the lake - does he have the egg figured out and is scoping out the lake?  Hermione is trying to talk Krum up but Ron just wants him to be eaten by the Giant Squid  Bagman is hanging out at the Three Broomsticks - does he ever work?  We learn that Mr Crouch is ill and Percy is filling in - shouldn't this have been a red flag for the Ministry?  Bagman offers Harry help again and Harry brings up Cedric - we love Harry being so honest and a good sport  Interesting how Rita speaks with Harry despite him calling her out in front of the whole bar compared to how she speaks to Hermione - Harry is someone as note whereas Hermione isn't anyone important to her Rita should be more scared of Hermione Hermione is fired up and marches down to Hagrid's to get him to come back and ends up face to face with Dumbledore - this would have been such a great scene for the films  Dumbledore seems to be a good friend to Hagrid here Alberforth is mentioned by Dumbledore - does the way Dumbledore refers to him come off as elitist?  "I don't trust goats" - Tori  Its nice to see Hagrid voice the similarities between himself and Harry - they have a very weird relationship but it's very sweet at the same time Harry decides he has to figure out the egg clue because he can't let Hagrid down  Harry should be suing people all the time  If Hermione killed Rita as a bug would it be murder?  If you die in Anamagius form, would you stay like that? Hagrid had his interview with Rita Skeeter - but she just wanted tea on Harry Why is Rita changing her angle on Harry?  Whats the protocol for firing a ghost teacher? The students need a good teacher that makes history interesting! Harry is already back on his Procrastination - that's going to come back and bite him  Why did the Twins ask Ron for his owl if they didn't want him to ask questions? This chapter gives us a lot of flash backs to school dances and our high school prom memories Is getting ready for a dance better than the actual dance? Should Harry just of taken Ron to the dance? A few girls ask Harry to the dance which seems pretty progressive for the time this was written  Fred is the confidence king over here - the way he asks Angelina to the dance is crazy  Is Ron's statement of wanting the Best Girl as a date more about his insecurities?  Harry asking Cho out and the rejection is so awkward and relatable  Would Cho have gone with Harry if Cedric hadn't asked her? Harry can't feel too bad because Ron embarrassed himself worse Do Fleur and Bill ever tease Ron about how he asked Fleur to the dance? Ginny is conversing with Harry pretty normally for the first time in the series despite being able to tell she is still hung up on Harry Ron needs to get over himself, Neville would be a great date! The pivotal moment where Ron realizes that Hermione is a girl!!!! my dude!!!! When Ron suggested Hermione goes with either him or Harry, how would he actually feel if Hermione went with Harry? Does Ginny know who Hermione is going with? Dean is the only one that really has a hobby  Harry opens the egg and Neville thinks it's the cruciatus curse - lots of foreshadowing hints about Neville's past and also Harry does have the curse used on him later on  Fred and George's canary creams are such advanced magic  Hermione trying to manipulate F&G to tell her about the kitchens is fun  Are the students getting drunk off the whisky fumes Hagrid set out for the Beauxbaton horses?  How is Rita able to just get onto the grounds when she was banned? This is a school! How does Hogwarts monitor visitors?  Should Harry just told Hagrid to not do anything with Rita even if it was rude? Dobby is at Hogwarts!  Its very cool seeing Dobby again and how he is handling being a free elf, compared to Winky who is miserable  Winky let's slip that Crouch thinks Bagman is a bad wizard - we are getting lot of different hints about potential "bad guys" that through us off the real villain of this book  Ron offers Dobby his christmas jumper - but wouldn't Mrs Weasley just make Dobby his own sweater if asked? We as Canadians try and figure out how pies fit in pockets  Percy is ragged on a lot in this chapter for not being able to take a joke / being a stick in the mud. He isn't even present!  It is interesting seeing how the other House Elves seem wary of Dobby  Has the SPEW plot aged well? Harry actually contemplates running away from Hogwarts It's very mature of Harry to realize Cedric is the only one who doesn't know about the dragons and decides to tell Cedric  Shay compiles all the spells Harry does each year so far (the spells that are said verbally)  What are Harry's top three spells?  Harry has been into almost every DADA professors office - interesting  Ron seems to be trying to catch Harry's eye - but Harry is too angry do anything  Hermione should threaten Harry with Dragons more - it's how he learned the summoning charm  McGonagall has Harry's best interest at heart - we love her The anticipation of waiting for Harry's turn in the first task is very relatable - like giving a public speech in school or waiting to ride a rollercoaster Bagman offers to help Harry and Harry is suspicious  Harry's battle with the dragon is quite short compared to the movie Is having the champions face real dragons cruel to the dragons?   McGonagall is probably chain smoking after this - and Pomfrey is pissed Hermione brings Ron to Harry and Ron finally apologizes for not believing Harry - it is actually very mature of Ron to admit verbally he was wrong  Hermione bursts into tears and the boys look at her like she's crazy - but she's been through a lot!  Harry and Ron never really talk about their feelings - maybe they should of talked this through more  Bagman gives Harry a perfect score - does this seem to obvious?  Does having the two UK organizers as judges seem a bit bias for scoring?  It should be judged like Four Weddings!  Harry doesn't really care about his score because he has his Weasley back! Potter Revisited Episode #76 Glory is the Priority AKA Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Chapter 16 "The Goblet of Fire" Title chapter is here - the plot is thickening  Ron is living his fanboy dreams with Krum at Hogwarts  Interesting the Durmstrang students choose to sit with the Slytherins and the Beauxbatons sit with the Ravenclaws Ron sees Fleur for the first time and is transfixed - but Harry seems fine. Why is Ron so affected?  The Goblet of Fire is introduced and the students are old putting your name in is a magical contract - are they old enough to understand that? Harry runs into Karkaroff - foreshadowing for his past?  Are the Twins desperate to enter the tournament for the money they need for their future?  Everyone agrees that Cedric is super fit - good for him  Angelina would have been another great candidate for Hogwarts champion Hagrid is also quite taken by someone from Beauxbatons - even ditching the trio  Hagrid says he never thought he'd live to see the tournament again - has he seen it before?  Why does Krum enter the tournament? Potter Revisited Episode #75 Mad Eye Moody AKA Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Chapter 15 "Beauxbatons and Durmstrang" Harry is stressed about Sirius coming back into the country and tries to lie to Sirius  Moody is now putting the Imperius Curse on the students to see if they can through it off - isn't it illegal??? Is Harry able to through off the curse because he has been hit with an Unforgivable Curse before or because he is a Horcrux? Should Hagrid be teasing Malfoy about being turned into a ferret?  Hermione thinks Cedric is a good candidate because he is a good student and prefect and Ron brings up she only values him because he is Handsome - does this show Ron's immaturity about the opposite sex? When did Hermione realize she had feelings for Ron that are more than friendship? Filch has clean the whole castle for company by himself - seems unfair F&G are short with Ron which is one of the first times we see them super secretive  Hermione is still going strong with SPEW despite the flack she has been getting from others  "Nice Try, Harry" Beauxbatons entrance & Madame Maxime seem so french - very rich and stylish  We love seeing a female school headmaster Why did the film decide to make Beauxbatons and Durmstrang all girl / boy schools? Just so students don't try and curse their acne off Hagrid has a new project for the 4th years - Skrewts  Shay is all about Divination unlike Harry and Ron This is the first time Harry has seen Trewlawney since her real prediction  Interesting Trewlawney says Harry is born mid winter when he was born in July but Voldemort was born in Decemeber - is she picking up on the Horcrux? Malfoy is back trying to ruin Ron's day Malfoy insults Ron's mom but is super upset Harry insults his mom - get out of the kitchen, Draco! Fun Mundungas Fletcher mention  Was how they set up the Quidditch World Cup a liability waiting to happen? Percy calls out his dad for making a mistake - showing the change in how Percy sees his family? Are Fred and George starting to see Ludo scammed them?  Percy and Hermione argue again - showing Hermione having a more moral compass than Percy at this moment  Ron's reaction to dress robes is fun  Could Mrs Weasley have done something to make Ron's dress robes look better?  Does Ron's reaction to Harry's better dress robes foreshadow Ron's jealousy and insecurities coming out later in this book? Potter Revisited Episode #69 Safety Now, Clarification Later AKA Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Chapter 9 "The Dark Mark" Very dark chapter Harry's dream is interesting as this is the first time we see him consider his future outside of school  rereading as a an adult really highlights the assault Mr Roberts family faces  Draco basically implies his parents are death eaters  Why were students traveling with Madame Maxime if it is still summer holidays? Harry realizes he has lost his wand - kind of similar to losing your phone now and how vulnerable you feel without it  Why does Ron seem more affected by the Veelas than Harry?  Could Harry being a Horcurx stop him from being as affected? Potter Revisited Episode #67 Conspicuous Wizard Camping AKA Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Chapter 7 "Bagman and Crouch" We are finally at the world cup!  The atmosphere at the beginning of the chapter really nails how it feels to go to a live sporting event Love the Ads - adds a great touch We are introduced to Winky the House elf - who is the opposite of Dobby  Percy is being super embarrassing in his attempt to make connections   Interesting how Fudge interacts with Harry in the top box, knowing how things change as soon as Harry isn't politically useful We are introduced to Narcissa when the Malfoys arrive  Should the Veela be described as creatures? It feels wrong as they are at least humanoid Are the Veela a liability? Is it lucky that no one actually jumped into the stadium like Harry was thinking Do Veela only affect men or is it attraction-based?
