Providence Road Church – Sermons

Each Sunday, the members of Providence Road gather to celebrate Jesus Christ and learn more through worship and teaching.

  1. 300
  2. 299

    The Sluggard (Proverbs 6:6-11)

The wise and diligent work hard with joy for God’s glory. While a life of foolishness is living a life of laziness that produces our own ruin.

  3. 298

The Wise and the Foolish (Proverbs 12:15-16)

The book of Proverbs sets before us two paths and two people — the wise and the fool. In this sermon we look at what each looks like, so we can know what a life shaped by the gospel looks like in practice.

  4. 297

Trusting in the Lord Through the Words of the Wise (Proverbs 22:17-19)

As we embark on a news sermon series in the book of Proverbs, we take a look at the purpose of wisdom in our lives. Wisdom, ultimately, is meant to increase our trust in the Lord. This should shape where we go to for wisdom, how we apply it to our lives, and our zeal to share it with others.

  5. 296
  6. 295

    Greater than Melchizedek (Hebrews 7:1-10)

The author of Hebrews shows us that Melchizedek exists in Scripture to show us that Jesus is a great priest-king and no one can take his place. However, we are prone to trust temporary and visible sources of righteousness, peace, and access to God instead of resting in the greater priest-king.

  7. 294

    Our Anchor (Hebrews 6:13-20)

We struggle with trusting God because we look to other things in this world to be our anchor instead of God. In this text the author of Hebrews tells us that because God’s promise is secured by His unchanging character and fulfilled in Christ, we have an anchor of unshakable hope.

  8. 293

Can a Christian Lose Their Salvation? (Hebrews 6:1-12)

To combat spiritual laziness, the author tells us that true believers are to press on to maturity, as God preserves them through warnings, means of grace, and the evidence of fruit.

  9. 292

The Milk and Meat of Discipleship (Hebrews 5:11-6:2)

Because of our sin, we tend to drift toward spiritual laziness, choosing comfort over growth in our relationship with God. However, we see in this passage in Hebrews that God wants HIs people to grow up, moving from Spiritual infancy to practiced maturity.

  10. 291

The Greater High Priest (Hebrews 5:1-10)

We are consistently asking the question of how to fix ourselves and the world around us. This text shows us how Jesus, our Great High Priest helps answer these questions through saving and sustaining His people.

  11. 290

    Easter Sunday (Hebrews 4:14-16)

Because Jesus is our High Priest, who died and was resurrected, we must hold fast to our faith in Him, and confidently approach His throne of grace.

  12. 289

    Baptism Sunday - March 2026

Today, we celebrate the way God has changed the lives of 15 people through their confessions of faith and baptisms!

  13. 288

The Word of God (Hebrews 4:12-13)

The Word of God exposes us in our efforts to justify ourselves, but we can find rest in the person of Jesus.

  14. 287

    Entering God’s Rest (Hebrews 4:1-11)

Because of our tendency towards unbelief, we often hear God's promises yet fail to trust Him enough to enter His rest. Jesus secures the true rest of God and enables us to enter it through faith.

  15. 286

The Faithless Do Not Enter God’s Rest (Hebrews 3:7-19)

In Hebrews 3:7-19, the author issues a warning reminding us of the story of the wilderness generation and how the faithless do not enter God’s Rest.

  16. 285

Consider Jesus: Greater than Moses (Hebrews 3:1-6)

Hebrews turns to an Old Testament prophet (Moses) and shows us how Jesus is greater than even him. As the apostle and high priest of our confession sent by God, Jesus has no rival. Holding fast to Jesus and enduring to the end is possible because He is first holding onto us.

  17. 284

Our Brother, Our Deliverer, Our High Priest (Hebrews 2:10-18)

Humanity stood helpless—facing suffering, sin, temptation, and even death itself. And the Son of God did something astonishing: He did not rescue us from a distance. Jesus became fully human so that He could stand with us in three ways…as our Brother, as our Deliverer, and as our High Priest.

  18. 283

The Story We Were Meant To Live (Hebrews 2:5-9)

We live in the "already, but not yet" time period of history. Our reality in this world is often one of frustration, but if we set our eyes on Jesus we begin to see another plot line play out in our story.

  19. 282

Pay Attention, Don't Drift (Hebrews 2:1-4)

In light of who Jesus is, the author of Hebrews challenges us to devote attention to Jesus or face drifting away from Him.

  20. 281

Jesus is Greater than Angels (Hebrews 1:4-14)

We are prone to put other things above Jesus in importance. The Jewish Christians of the first century were tempted to put angels above Jesus in importance. The author of Hebrews compares Jesus to angels, showing as great as angels are, they don't compare to Jesus.

  21. 280

Why Jesus is Better (Hebrews 1:1-3)

We begin this series on Hebrews by looking at the author of Hebrews intro the book by telling us that Jesus is better. He then gives us a list of massive qualities about Jesus that make Him better.

  22. 279

Why Do We Pray? (John 16:24)

“There is no such thing as an unanswered prayer from a child of God. God will either give us what we ask or He will give us what we would have asked if we knew everything He knows.” - Tim Keller Today’s sermon will conclude our mini-series on prayer and try to help us answer the question: Why Do We Pray?

  23. 278

Jesus’s Template for Prayer (Matthew 6:5-13)

In what is often referred to as “The Lord’s Prayer”, Jesus gives His followers a template for how to pray. Kenton walks us through this passage explaining how to pray different parts of the prayer.

  24. 277

Prayer: Our Father Who is in Heaven (Matthew 6:5-9)

Prayer is relational. Jesus tells us that when we pray, how we view God is of utmost importance. As a good Father, God is willing and capable of answering prayer.

  25. 276

    Christmas Eve (Matthew 11:27-30)

We look at why the coming of Jesus brings us a kind of rest the world can never give us.

  26. 275

The Love of God Revealed (Luke 2:1-20)

In Luke 2, Luke tells us the greatest love story ever told, the story of God's love ultimately revealed to us in the Incarnation of His Son.

  27. 274

    Mary's Song (Luke 1:39-56)

Mary responds to God's message and Elizabeth's encouragement with the first Christmas Carol. Mary gives us a pattern to follow as we worship God.

  28. 273

Gabriel's Message to Mary (Luke 1:26-38)

When we make Christ’s coming a passive event in our lives, we miss out on an opportunity for joyful surrender. Christ’s coming actively invites us not just to celebrate, but to surrender to His will with Mary-like faith.

  29. 272

Advent: We Hope in Jesus Alone (Luke 1:5-25)

After 400 years of silence, God sends an angel to Zechariah and Elizabeth to put into motion a series of events that would change the course of history forever. As we consider Luke 1 this advent season, they show us how we can hope in God by considering His faithfulness towards us, despite our imperfection. Ultimately, Jesus has taken away our reproach and gives us confidence in his second advent.

  30. 271

Preparing for Advent (Genesis 3:15; Isaiah 9:6-7; Isaiah 11:1-5)

As we prepare for the Advent season we look at the Biblical story as it sits in a consistent tension of promise and waiting. Waiting in life is not outside of God’s plan, waiting is designed to increase our dependence on Him.

  31. 270

Comfort and Hope in Jesus’ Return (1 Thessalonians 4:13-5:6)

When we focus on the doctrine of Christ's return we are able to navigate the broken world we live in with comfort and hope. As we seek to understand the details of Christ's return it gives us the power for comfort and hope.

  32. 269

The Doctrine of the Church (Ephesians 2:13-22)

We can't live the Christian life in isolation. One of the main reasons God created the church is for us to follow Jesus with others. This comes with sacrifices and benefits. Only the Gospel can help us live in true Biblical community with others in the church.

  33. 268

    The Holy Spirit (John 14-16)

The Holy Spirit is one of the most mysterious doctrines of our faith. It is important to know what the Bible has to say about the Holy Spirit, so we can experience joy and the empowerment He brings us.

  34. 267
  35. 266

    Baptism Sunday

Today, we celebrate the way God has changed the lives of 15 people through their confessions of faith and baptisms!

  36. 265

The Order of Salvation (Romans 8:28-39)

In this passage Paul encourages the church in Rome by teaching through the order of salvation. He wants to encourage the church in light of their weaknesses and the troubles that surround them in a fallen world. We can receive the same encouragement from the order of salvation as well.

  37. 264

    Church Sacraments/Ordinances: Baptism (Matthew 28:18-20, Romans 6:3-5)

Baptism and Communion are the two ordinances or sacraments commanded by Christ to be done in the context of the church. In this sermon we focus on baptism and how it communicates deep spiritual truth.

  38. 263

Doctrine of Christ: Fully God and Fully Man (John 1:1-3, 14, 1 Peter 2:21-23, Hebrews 9:25-26, 2 Corinthians 5:17-21)

For our salvation to become a reality Jesus had to be fully God and fully man. In this sermon, we discover why this doctrine is crucial to our faith.

  39. 262

Who is Man? Doctrine of the Image of God and Sin (Genesis 1:26-28, Genesis 3:1-7, Romans 1:21-25, Romans 5:18-19)

The degree that we understand sin is the degree we will know God’s grace found in Jesus. In this sermon, we look at the doctrine of sin in hopes that it will magnify God's grace and mercy all the more.

  40. 261

What God is Like (Psalm 113:4-9, John 8:23, John 1:14)

We often view God in one of two ways. We see Him as transcendent (how He is so different from us) or we see His Eminence (how close He is to us). However, both views are needed to know and love Him.

  41. 260

Doctrine of the Trinity (Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Ephesians 1:3-14, and Galatians 4:4-7)

Although being a difficult subject to understand the Trinity is foundational for our faith. Understanding this doctrine adds color and background to the gospel, so that we can know and love God in a deeper way.

  42. 259

Doctrine of Revelation and the Bible (Psalm 19:1-2, Matthew 16:13-17, 2 Timothy 3:16-17)

For us to truly know God He must reveal Himself to us. One of the primary ways he does this is through His Word. In this sermon we look at His revelation and other important aspects of the Bible.

  43. 258

Christian Theology: Intro - Why Theology? (Mark 12:30, 2 Corinthians 3:18)

Understanding and knowing Theology doesn’t necessarily lead directly to maturity, but it does create a larger capacity to know, love, and obey God. In this intro to our new series on Christian Theology we look what theology is and why we should care about it.

  44. 257

    Remembering God's Benefits (Psalm 103)

What we remember is crucial for knowing God and living the Christian life. The kind of things we remember can lead us to God or away from Him. In this Psalm we are given clarity on what we should remember and what we should forget.

  45. 256

    Our Better King-Priest (Psalm 110)

Psalm 110 gives us a picture of our better King-Priest. Jesus is out enthroned King and our eternal Priest. He sits on His throne and represents his people to God. Psalm 110 welcomes us in to see Him and worship Him!

  46. 255

Beard Oil and Mountain Dew to the Ends of the Earth! (Psalm 133)

We open up Psalm 133 (one of the Psalms of Ascent) to see what the people of God were singing towards the end of their pilgrimage. It is a short and beautiful Psalm about how unity amongst God’s people will bring glory to God to the uttermost parts of the earth – and somehow that involves beard oil and mountain dew!

  47. 254

The Glory of God in Creation and the Goodness of God in His Word (Psalm 19)

Psalm 19 reveals to us what we can know about God: first in creation, and second through His revealed Word to us. Like David, we can respond rightly in worship by repenting from the sins within us that we see and asking God for help to see the sins within us that we don't yet see.

  48. 253

The Pursuit For An Undivided Heart (Psalm 86)

In Psalm 86, David asks God to give him an "undivided heart", which is something all believers desire as they pursue God's will and way. While we have many things working against this desire, there are also a few simple practices that can keep us grounded in the truth.

  49. 252

Being Known by the God Who is too Wonderful (Psalm 139)

David pens this psalm that is extremely personal to him. God knows him, is with him, and made him with care. This creates worship inside of David and he praises God for it. We consider how Psalm 139 might apply to us, trusting these things to also be true for us because of the work of Jesus on our behalf.

  50. 251

God’s Got Your Back (Psalm 124)

Psalm 124 is the song of a poet-warrior-king who knows firsthand what it’s like to face overwhelming odds—and to be saved by God. David celebrates how God stood by him, fought for him, and pulled him from the jaws of defeat.
