What Survival Taught Sean Clarke About Defining Your Own Success
Send us Fan MailRedefining success is not a concept Sean Clarke learned from a book. He learned it from a cardiac psychologist he did not know existed, a fruit basket confrontation from his number two, and a funeral procession in a cemetery where he noticed there was no U-Haul trailer behind the hearse. In this second and final segment of the Reignite Resilience Podcast's conversation with retired military leader and professional speaker Sean Clarke, cohosts Natalie Davis and Pamela Cass take Sean through the full arc of his transformation from a man whose identity was fused to his corporate title to a man who now stands on stages helping others make the move they have been postponing. This segment opens with Sean working through trauma and survivor's guilt alongside a cardiac psychologist, an unapologetically frank and earthy Gen X therapist who helped Sean process watching a young man die in the bed beside him and grappling with the question of why he was still alive when 20 percent of men in his age bracket are not. From there, Natalie draws Sean into the core of his professional mission: redefining success. Sean turns the conversation on its head with a single question he now uses with every corporate professional who claims to define their own success. What happened in your last performance review? And just like that, the argument falls apart. The segment closes with Sean's framework for what it actually takes to make the move, his conviction that community is the most underutilized resilience tool available, the Lauren Green stick bundle story that became a philosophy he carries everywhere, and a final word that is among the most honest and clear-eyed calls to action this podcast has ever featured. You cannot steer a parked car. And there are no do-overs. In This Episode: What working with a cardiac psychologist actually looked like and how Sean processed trauma and survivor's guilt in a way that fit who he is as a Gen X man The corporate success myth Sean dismantles with one question: what happened in your last performance review? How Sean's fourth career as a professional speaker was born and who he is now showing up to serve The Lauren Green stick bundle philosophy on community and why we are strongest together and most breakable alone Sean's final challenge to every listener: stop, sit in the quiet, ask whether this is really what you are here for, and then make a plan and move Whether you are grinding in a job that stopped lighting your fire years ago or you are still waiting for the right moment to make the move, this segment is your permission to stop waiting. Heart Attack Wake-Up Call: Chose Purpose Over Programming with Sean Clarke (part 1)
Send us Fan MailHeart attack survival is not just a medical story. For Sean Clarke, it was the beginning of an entirely new life. In this first segment of the Reignite Resilience Podcast's conversation with retired military and corporate leader, professional speaker, and purpose mentor Sean Clarke, cohosts Natalie Davis and Pamela Cass take Sean back to January 2024, when a two-in-the-morning wake-up call sent him to a Canadian emergency room with symptoms he had been ignoring for five days. What followed was 33 hours in a hospital, two additional heart attacks in the emergency room, a young man dying of a fentanyl overdose in the bed beside him, and a doctor who told Sean he had a couple of hours left to live. Sean Clarke spent 30 years building a career that moved from military data systems to corporate IT leadership, project delivery, and program management. He was on track to become a CIO. He had a great team. He was delivering results. And then, at 2 a.m. on a Monday morning, everything stopped. This segment goes deep into the Gen X programming that had Sean back at his desk by Monday morning after leaving the hospital on Thursday, and the moment his own team showed up at his door with a fruit basket and an ultimatum. It explores what happens to identity when your entire sense of worth is wrapped up in a job title, what cardiac rehabilitation actually looks like from the inside, and the three weeks after the heart attack when Sean sat staring at his inbox and asked, for the first time with full weight: is this really what I am here for? The answer to that question is what changed everything. In This Episode: The five days of symptoms Sean ignored before a 2 a.m. wake-up call sent him to the emergency room What it is actually like to have two heart attacks in a Canadian emergency room while waiting 10 hours to see a doctor The Gen X and military programming that had Sean back at his desk four days after leaving the hospital Why his number two showed up at his door with a fruit basket and told him in no uncertain terms to stay home The moment three weeks later when Sean stared at his inbox and finally asked: is this what I am here for? This is a conversation about survival, identity, programming, and what it takes to stop waiting for a crisis to give yourself permission to live differently. Relationship Architecture: Designing Love That Lasts on Purpose with Geoff Laughton (part 3)
Send us Fan MailRelationship architecture, the conscious, intentional design of love that lasts, is not a concept most people are taught. It is something Geoff Laughton has spent 33 years helping people build from the ground up. In this third and final segment of Reignite Resilience's conversation with internationally bestselling author, relationship coach, and men's work leader Geoff Laughton, cohosts Natalie Davis and Pamela Cass follow Geoff through the final chapters of his origin story, into the full picture of the work he does today, and the spiritual backbone that has held all of it together. This segment opens with Geoff's first paying coaching client, who found him through her psychic. It moves through 16 years and 350 inner child workshops, a pivotal moment with his mentor Shakti that confirmed it was time to let that chapter end, and the unexpected four-day couples intensive that launched his relationship coaching practice when a husband overpaid him and told him to shut up and take the money. From there, Natalie and Pamela draw out one of the most powerful and rarely discussed threads of the episode, the spiritual awakening Geoff had in the Redwoods, when a charge of electricity moved through his body at a window and he knew, without question, he had found God. And then a trance channel in Los Angeles told him three things about his life that nobody else on earth knew. Geoff closes the conversation with the practical tools at the center of his relationship work: how to stop blaming your partner when things get hard, how to take 100 percent responsibility for how you are showing up, and why anything you think your partner is feeling that has not come out of their own lips is something you are making up. These are not soft relationship tips. They are the tools that have kept Geoff and Sarah together for 44 years and that he now brings to every couple and individual he works with. In This Episode: How Geoff's first paying client came to him via her psychic and why he took it as a sign The moment his mentor Shakti told Geoff he was not supposed to be running inner child workshops anymore and how his whole body confirmed it The four-day couples intensive that launched Geoff's relationship coaching career and a husband who overpaid him and told him to shut up Geoff's spiritual awakening in the Redwoods: The charge of electricity, the window, and the moment he stopped fighting God The trance channel in Los Angeles who told Geoff three things about his life that nobody knew and what that unlocked in him Who Geoff works with now: couples, individuals, empty nesters, men in transition, and anyone ready to consciously design what love looks like The Jack Canfield-sourced relationship tool Geoff uses with every client: take 100 percent responsibility before you say a single word This is the segment for anyone who is ready to stop waiting for love to get easier and start building it with intention. Relationship Resilience: Finding Your Edge When Love and Fear Collide with Geoff Laughton (part 2)
Send us Fan MailRelationship resilience is not built in the easy seasons, it is forged in the moments where everything is falling apart and you choose each other anyway. In this second segment of Reignite Resilience's conversation with internationally bestselling author and relationship coach Geoff Laughton, cohosts Natalie Davis and Pamela Cass go deep into the chapter of Geoff's life that transformed him from a burned-out corporate executive into the coach, speaker, and men's work leader he is today. This segment picks up right where the love story with Sarah gets tested. After a brief breakup driven by parental pressure, his mother had a lot to say about Sarah's age and her divorce history. Geoff licks his wounds, sends a card, makes a dinner he had no business cooking, opens the door, and forty-four years begin. But the path from that dinner table to becoming a relationship architect was anything but linear. An early commitment to not having more children gets upended at 39 when Sarah becomes unexpectedly pregnant. A back injury at 34 forces Geoff out of his workaholic patterns. Anxiety attacks, a bedridden month, and finally a three-day transformational workshop called Emptying Into Intimacy crack him open. Beginning with a blindfolded rock climb and culminating in a moment on a 175-foot cliff that would become the story he uses in his coaching to this day. This segment is about what it really looks like to face your edge, the place where your story about yourself runs out and something truer is waiting on the other side. Geoff spent four and a half hours lying on the ground, trembling, while everyone else in the workshop repelled down the cliff. He never made it down that day. And it became one of the most important experiences of his life. Natalie and Pamela draw the throughline between Geoff's personal story and the work he now does helping couples, individuals, and men find their own version of that edge and choose to keep going. In This Episode: The unexpected pregnancy at 39 that changed the plan and what Geoff and Sarah chose to do with it What a blindfolded rock climb taught Geoff about getting out of his head and trusting his body The 175-foot cliff, the fetal position, and the four-and-a-half hours that became a coaching cornerstone How a week-long leadership retreat in Durango, Colorado finally unlocked Geoff's calling as a coach Why Sarah told Geoff she was proud of his coaching work and then asked him to start charging for it The inner child workshop that woke Geoff up the next morning with a crystal-clear sense of purpose Why asking for help is not a sign of weakness, it is actually a sign of resilience This is the segment for anyone who has ever been lying on the metaphorical ground, trembling, while it feels like everyone else is moving forward without them. Conscious Relationships: From Shy Nice Guy to 44 Years of Love with Geoff Laughton
Send us Fan MailConscious relationships are built, not found, and Geoff Laughton has spent 33 years proving it. In this first segment of the Reignite Resilience Podcast's conversation with internationally bestselling author and relationship coach Geoff Laughton, cohosts Natalie Davis and Pamela Cass sit down with the man behind Instant Insights on Building a Conflict-Proof Relationship and Built to Last to hear the origin story behind one of the most compelling love stories you will ever encounter on a podcast. Before Geoff became the wildly respected relationship and men's work coach he is today, he was a painfully shy young man from the Bay Area with a psychology degree, a 15-year corporate career that took him from technical writer to Chief Operations Officer, and a pattern of attracting the wrong people for all the wrong reasons. By the time he was near 300 pounds, bedridden with a back injury at 34, and hit with a panic attack in the middle of a board of directors meeting, he knew something had to change, and it was more than just his weight. This segment traces Geoff's journey from the moment he recognized himself as the common denominator in a string of devastating relationships, through a three-year sabbatical where he rebuilt his relationship with himself, and into the serendipitous, fumbling, hot-chocolate-spilling beginning of his 44-year marriage to Sarah. Their love story did not begin with perfect circumstances. Their parents disapproved. The age gap raised eyebrows. The spiked punch, the birthday party, the broken-up-with-girlfriend, none of it was smooth. What it was, was real. And Geoff knew it the moment Sarah went out of her way to make him feel okay after he covered her in hot chocolate on their first date. This episode is for anyone who has ever been the nice guy or the people-pleaser in relationships, anyone who has ever recognized a pattern and wondered how to break it, and anyone who wants to understand what it actually takes to build love that lasts. In This Episode: How 15 years in corporate, rising from technical writer to COO, left Geoff bedridden, anxious, and finally ready to change The pattern Geoff kept repeating in relationships and the three-year solo sabbatical that helped him break it What therapy, group work, and learning to be alone taught him about finding his mojo before finding his person The serendipitous, deeply unglamorous story of how Geoff and Sarah found each other, and almost didn't Why the moment Sarah made him feel okay after spilling hot chocolate on her was the moment Geoff knew she was the one Whether you are doing the work on yourself or looking for the framework to build something that lasts, this conversation is the place to start. Joey's Song: Mike on Freezing Man and Epilepsy Awareness (part 2)
Send us Fan MailJoey's Song raises money for epilepsy research through a concert unlike any other in the country, and Part 2 of this Reignite Resilience conversation is where hosts Natalie Davis and Pamela Cass get the full picture of how it works. Mike, founder of Joey's Song, continues his conversation with Natalie and Pam by walking through Freezing Man, the two night concert event held every January in Madison, Wisconsin.Mike describes what makes the show different from a typical tribute concert. Musicians from bands like Cheap Trick, the Goo Goo Dolls, the Bangles, and Tears for Fears do not perform separate sets. Instead they form one time only groups and play together, backed by the house band the Know It All Boyfriends, alongside a rival group called the Know It All Girlfriends who show up every year to steal the show. Mike explains why the event only happens once a year, why January works best around touring schedules, and how the 2,500 seat Sylvie theater sells out two nights running while the concert also live streams for free to anyone, anywhere. From there the conversation shifts to impact. Mike breaks down how listeners can support Joey's Song without spending money, starting with following the nonprofit's social accounts and watching video content long enough to trigger the platform algorithm. He shares the scale of epilepsy in plain numbers: one in 26 people will develop it in their lifetime, and 50 million people live with it worldwide today. Mike also talks honestly about where epilepsy research stands, including the one in three people who still cannot find relief through medication or surgery, and closes with practical advice for recognizing absence seizures and prioritizing self care as a caregiver. In This Episode:What makes the Freezing Man concert format different from a typical tribute showWhy Joey's Song only holds one event per year, in JanuaryHow to support the nonprofit without spending any moneyThe real numbers behind how common epilepsy actually isWhere epilepsy research and treatment stand today, and where progress is still neededListen to Part 1 of this conversation for the full story behind Joey's Song and the son who inspired it.Listen to Reignite Resilience: https://reigniteresilience.buzzsprout.com Learn more about Joey's Song: https://joeysong.orgThe Quiet Gift: A Journey of Self Worth and Resilience is now available for download as an audible. Joey's Song: Mike's Mission to Honor His Son Joe (part 1)
Send us Fan MailJoey's Song exists because one Wisconsin family turned the loss of their son into an ongoing mission to fund epilepsy research. In Part 1 of this Reignite Resilience conversation, hosts Natalie Davis and Pamela Cass sit down with Mike, founder of Joey's Song, a nonprofit built in honor of his son Joe, who lived with Dravet syndrome, a severe and treatment resistant form of childhood epilepsy.Mike walks through Joe's story from the beginning. Joe was adopted from Guatemala and had his first seizure at three months old, sitting on his grandfather's lap. What followed was four years of misdiagnosis before doctors identified Dravet syndrome, a chromosomal condition that left Joe nonverbal and in need of round the clock care. Joe passed away just before his fifth birthday in 2010. Despite everything he went through, Joe loved to sing and dance, especially to Elmo's song, and that joy became the reason the nonprofit carries his name.Mike explains why he chose a goal over a rigid plan when he started Joey's Song, and how a chance reconnection with college friend and Grammy winning producer Butch Vig turned a small local concert into something neither of them expected. He tells the story of the night a newspaper interview accidentally created demand for a show that had no lineup yet, and how that pressure led to the format Joey's Song still uses: musicians from bands like Cheap Trick, Garbage, and the Bangles forming one time only supergroups on stage together. The second half of the conversation turns to family. Mike and his wife Nori raised their two other children, Julia and Sam, through the loss of their brother, and Mike speaks candidly about how couples who lose a child face some of the highest rates of separation, and what kept his marriage steady through it. He also shares how Julia and Sam are involved in Joey's Song today, and how the volunteer team behind the event grew out of matching friends to the tasks they were already good at.In This Episode:How Joe's story led to the founding of Joey's SongWhy Dravet syndrome is a chromosomal form of epilepsy with no cureThe unplanned story behind the celebrity supergroup concertHow Mike and his wife supported their surviving children through griefWhy Joey's Song runs entirely on volunteers and unpaid artistsPart 2 of this conversation covers the Freezing Man concert itself, along with the scale of epilepsy worldwide and simple ways listeners can help.Listen to Reignite Resilience: https://reigniteresilience.buzzsprout.com Learn more about Joey's Song: https://joeysong.orgThe Quiet Gift: A Journey of Self Worth and Resilience is now available for download as an audible. What Happened When Our Live Event Got Hacked
Send us Fan MailResponding instead of reacting gets tested hardest when the stakes are highest, and that is exactly what happened to Reignite Resilience hosts Natalie Davis and Pamela Cass. In Part 2 of this two part coffee talk episode, Natalie and Pam close out their Spain and Morocco travel stories, then walk through the moment their own Reignite Live success summit got hacked mid session, live, in front of a room full of attendees. The episode opens with the finish of the paella story from Part 1: eating seafood out of to go containers while sprinting to board a ferry to Morocco, followed by a second sprint back through a storm to catch the return boat. Natalie and Pam use both stories to make the same point they made in Part 1: the memories worth keeping are usually the ones that went wrong first. The real center of this episode is what happened on day one of their recent success summit. Mid conversation with a sponsor about nervous system regulation, a hacker broke into the event's Zoom meeting and put explicit content on screen in front of the entire room. Natalie walks through her real time response: shutting the meeting down in seconds, sending a new meeting link to the full guest list during an extended lunch break, and getting a security briefing from one of their own speakers before day one resumed. Pam and Natalie compare this to a similar incident that happened to a friend during her own book launch event, where the outcome was far worse because no one on her team knew how to respond quickly. The episode closes with an announcement: Reignite Live season two is set for January 22, 2027, in Loveland, Colorado. In This Episode:How Natalie and Pam responded when their success summit got hacked mid sessionThe difference between a three second response and a freeze response, using a friend's book launch as the contrastWhy taking ownership of the incident mattered more than explaining how it happenedHow the hosts rebuilt attendee trust well enough that people came back for day twoWhy unprotected Zoom meetings are still getting hacked in 2026Details on Reignite Live season two, coming January 22, 2027 in Loveland, ColoradoThe Quiet Gift: A Journey of Self Worth and Resilience is now available for download as an audible. Respond vs React: How to Handle Life's Curveballs
Send us Fan MailResponding instead of reacting changes what happens after life throws you a curveball. In Part 1 of this two part conversation, Reignite Resilience hosts Natalie Davis and Pamela Cass sit down for an unscripted coffee talk episode built around one idea: the gap between an incident and your emotional response matters more than the incident itself. The conversation opens with Natalie recording on the road this summer and Pam catching her watching her plants on camera from a hotel room, which leads into a story about a nest of baby birds that Pam watched fledge at a Fourth of July barbecue. From there, Natalie and Pam turn to a pattern they both notice in their own lives: how often small, unexpected things happen, from medical emergencies on airplanes to a guest canceling an interview an hour before airtime, which is exactly what happened to them today. That last minute cancellation becomes the hosts' live example for the rest of the episode. Natalie breaks down the cycle most people get stuck in after something goes wrong: the physical reaction, the emotional response, and then the judgment that turns into a story you keep repeating to yourself. Pam introduces the "but did you die" philosophy she picked up from a friend's t shirt, and the two hosts trace how focusing on one bad moment invites you to keep finding more of them. The episode closes with Pam's story about a rental car toll booth mishap in Ireland that the hosts turned into one of their favorite travel stories instead of a source of stress. In This Episode:Why the pause between an incident and your response matters more than the incidentWhat happened when today's scheduled guest canceled an hour before recordingThe stimulus, emotion, judgment, story cycle that keeps people stuck after setbacksThe "but did you die" philosophy for putting problems into perspectiveWhy focusing on one bad moment invites you to notice more of themPart 2 of this conversation continues with more unexpected travel stories and closes out the episode. Play to Your Strengths with Chris Woods
Send us Fan MailPlaying to your strengths beats fixing your weaknesses every time, and Chris Woods has the framework to prove it. In Part 2 of this Reignite Resilience conversation, hosts Natalie Davis and Pamela Cass continue their talk with Chris Woods, certified professional coach and author of Balls and Brains, this time digging into how he built his coaching framework long before he wrote the book, and why he coaches clients to spend their energy on what they are already good at.Chris opens by contrasting his own writing process with the discipline he saw in a Jerry Seinfeld interview about joke writing. Chris did not lock himself away and grind. He built the book slowly, around referrals and client conversations he had been having for years. He explains how the phrase Balls and Brains came to him, how he checked that the URL was open and grabbed it, and how the material practically assembled itself once he sat down to write, because the ideas were already tested on real clients. The heart of this episode is Chris's core teaching: play offense on your strengths, not defense on your weaknesses. He traces this back to how school and performance reviews train people to fixate on deficiencies, and he lays out his 80/20 rule for where to spend your effort instead. He uses Michael Jordan's failed baseball career and the movie Rudy to show the difference between talent multiplied by effort and effort alone. Balls and Brains: Chris Woods on Fear, Strengths and Reinvention
Send us Fan MailOvercoming fear starts with facing what holds you back and naming the strengths that move you forward. In this episode of Reignite Resilience, hosts Natalie Davis and Pamela Cass sit down with Chris Woods, certified professional coach, author of Balls and Brains, and former four time global C-suite executive and Google sales leader, to unpack how fear shapes careers, relationships and self worth, and how to trade fear for strength.Chris grew up the youngest of five in a tough blue collar Boston neighborhood near Tufts University. His father died at 40, and this fact planted a fear in Chris that stayed with him for decades. He spent his twenties, thirties and part of his forties working to pay off student loans and build a career, driven less by ambition and more by a ticking clock he believed he could not escape. At 40, Chris contracted cardiac Lyme disease. His heart stopped in the hospital. Doctors brought him back, installed a pacemaker, and told him he had another 40 or 50 years to live. This moment forced Chris to ask a new question: what happens after you survive the fear you spent your life running from? The answer became Balls and Brains, Chris Woods's framework for helping people, especially men, name their fears and own their strengths instead of hiding from both. Chris walks Natalie and Pamela through the Enneagram and the Clifton StrengthsFinder, two tools he uses with coaching clients to map where fear shows up and where natural strength already lives. He shares the life changing question he borrowed from coach Peter Crone: who would you be in the absence of your concerns? And he explains why he coaches clients toward evolution, not revolution, when they are ready to change direction. In This Episode:Why Chris Woods named his coaching framework Balls and BrainsHow growing up in a tough Boston neighborhood shaped his relationship with resilienceWhat happened when his heart stopped from cardiac Lyme disease at age 40The most common fears holding high achieving men back from playing biggerHow the Enneagram and Clifton StrengthsFinder work together to map fear and talentChris Woods now runs a CEO consulting business, helping leaders align who they are with what they do so success feels energizing instead of exhausting. His story proves fear does not disappear. You learn to work with it instead of running from it.The Quiet Gift: A Journey of Self Worth and Resilience is now available for download as an audible. Goal Setting That Actually Works: Drop What Is Not Yours and Build What Is
Send us Fan MailIf a goal on your list is not yours, grinding harder will not help. It will burn you out faster. In Part 2 of this recap episode, Natalie Davis and Pamela Cass go deeper into what the Reignite Live Mid-Year Success Summit revealed about the goals most people are chasing. They share how speaker Sheri Engstrom introduced the Four Chambers framework and got attendees moving their bodies after two days of content, and why three minutes of movement made a noticeable difference in how people showed up for the rest of the session.Natalie and Pam also address the goal-setting conversation that hit hardest at the summit. Many attendees were working toward goals that were not actually theirs. Social pressure, FOMO, what a boss assigned, or what an influencer made look successful. These are not goals. They are distractions. Natalie and Pam give listeners direct permission to remove them, tweak them, or replace them entirely with what actually lights you up.The conversation closes with a commitment Natalie and Pam make on air: to read Tim Ferriss's Four-Hour Work Week, apply the Time Bender framework to their own schedules, and report back at Reignite Live 2027. They close with a direct invitation for listeners to hold them accountable in person on January 22, 2027.In This Episode:How Sheri Engstrom's Four Chambers framework and three minutes of body movement shifted the energy of the entire summitWhy goals that belong to someone else will never get you into flow state, and how to identify them on your current listThe direct link between burnout and chasing goals that are not yoursWhy Natalie and Pam are publicly committing to shrink their work week using the Time Bender framework before the next eventWhat Reignite Live 2027 will cover, why it is on January 22 in Loveland, Colorado, and how to save your spot nowThe summit recordings and workbook are available now at $47. Mid-Year Check-In: What Your Teachability Index Says About Your Goals
Send us Fan MailYour teachability index is the number most people never calculate. It predicts whether any class, seminar, or challenge you invest in will actually move you forward.Natalie Davis and Pamela Cass are back for a solo episode recapping the Reignite Live Mid-Year Success Summit. The event brought together attendees and six expert speakers across two six-hour virtual days, and this episode breaks down the moments, frameworks, and mindset shifts that mattered most. The conversation opens with a real question: are you willing to learn, and are you equally willing to change? Pam introduces the teachability index, a framework with two sides. Your willingness to learn on one side, your willingness to act on the other. She walks through the math. A ten on willingness to learn paired with a three on willingness to change gives you a thirty percent teachability index. That number tells you more about your results than any goal list or vision board.Natalie and Pam also take listeners behind the scenes of the summit itself. The event was built around a holistic approach to mid-year business planning, one that weighed breath work, somatic movement, nervous system regulation, and science-backed frameworks alongside goal setting and action planning. Megan McDonald led a thirty-minute somatic breath work session that left attendees grounded, connected, and operating from a completely different place. The feedback from people who had never experienced this kind of work before was immediate and clear. The summit also introduced the Time Bender framework, covering compression, protection, and multiplication, with a self-assessment across fifteen life areas to help attendees identify where to focus their energy for the second half of the year.In This Episode:How to calculate your teachability index and what your score tells you before you spend another dollar on a course or programWhy your willingness to change is the factor that controls whether learning produces resultsWhat the Reignite Live Mid-Year Summit covered across two six-hour days, including speaker topics and the frameworks introducedHow Megan McDonald's somatic breath work session shifted the room in thirty minutes, and why Pam attends every weekWhat the Time Bender framework covers: compression, protection, and multiplication, and how the self-assessment across fifteen life areas worksWhy the summit recordings are available now at $47 and what is included in the workbookThe summit recordings are available now on replay https://www.leadershipthatshines.com/offers/oV2yUzno Save the date: Reignite Live returns January 22, 2027, in person at Casa Sagrada in Loveland, Colorado.Connect with Reignite Resilience: Website: reigniteresilience.com Email: [email protected] Quiet Gift: A Journey of Self Worth and Resilience is now available for download as an audible. Side Hustle Samurai: How Bart Merrell Monetized Losing His Leg (part 2)
Send us Fan MailSide hustle income does not require startup capital, a business degree, or a grand plan. It requires you to look at what is already in your life and ask one question: how can I monetize this?In Part 2 of this conversation, serial entrepreneur and Side Hustle Samurai Bart Merrell picks up exactly where he left off, with the cliffhanger. In March 2024, Bart lost his lower left leg. Before the surgery even happened, his first thought was: how do I monetize this? Six months post-op, he was sitting in his prosthetist's office pitching himself as a patient liaison on retainer. He is now building apps for the practice using AI, without a single line of coding experience. That story sets the tone for everything that follows. Bart walks through his nine active income streams, including real estate, dog training, weight loss program promotion, AI-generated music on Spotify, vehicle imports from Japan, and the Side Hustle Samurai coaching and speaking work that grew out of his book Monetize Your Mindset. Every single one started with something already in his life.He introduces the three-list framework he uses with every client: what do you like to do, what do you need to do, and what are you already doing. He explains why you should make the lists before asking whether you can monetize anything on them, and why giving your brain permission to ask the question is itself the first step to opening new income possibilities. He tells the story of a bus driver named Stephanie who called him at 3 in the morning two days after making her lists because she was too excited to sleep. He also shares the Acres of Diamonds story and his family's version of it, Acres of Pig Poop, which delivers one of the most memorable and practical closing challenges in the episode. In This Episode:How Bart turned a below-knee amputation into a retainer income stream before he left the operating roomThe three-list framework for identifying side hustle opportunities in what you already know, do, and enjoyWhy dog training, AI music, Japanese vehicle imports, and a weight loss program all became income streams from things Bart was already doingThe Acres of Diamonds principle applied to your own backyard, and how most people walk past their own diamonds every dayThe free 1K Blind Spot Assessment and where to access itFree gift for listeners: 1K Blind Spot Assessment Takes about 30 minutes. Monetize What You Know: Side Hustle Lessons from Serial Entrepreneur Bart Merrell (part 1)
Send us Fan MailMonetizing what you already know is the fastest path to financial security, and serial entrepreneur Bart Merrell has been proving that since he was 15 years old.Bart grew up in a small farming town in southern New Mexico, watching his father build income streams across multiple agricultural businesses without ever sitting Bart down for a formal lesson. What he learned instead came from watching, doing, and being pushed toward a goal and told to figure it out. That foundation built a man who, decades later, runs nine businesses across industries ranging from real estate to international vehicle imports, and who asks the same question every time life hands him something unexpected: how can I monetize it?In Part 1, Bart joins Natalie Davis and Pamela Cass to share the stories behind his entrepreneurial mindset. He talks about his failed FBI dream, the eye surgery that disqualified him from his chosen career path, and how that detour landed him in Japan translating for a bungee jump company and eventually importing Ford and Dodge pickups with a friend he made at the gym. A partnership that started in 1997 and is still running today. He breaks down what he learned selling oranges and magazine subscriptions as a teenager in FFA, why he rented out every home he ever lived in, and what most people get wrong about turning an idea into income. This is not a conversation about luck. Bart quotes Seneca directly: luck is when opportunity and preparedness meet, but you have to take action. In This Episode:Why financial security does not require a business plan, but it does require action before you have all the answersHow Bart's father modeled entrepreneurship through example, not instruction, and what that taught him about goal setting and sellingThe moment Bart realized his FBI dream was over and what he did next rather than giving upWhy saying yes to things you do not know how to do yet is the foundation of every income stream Bart has builtHow inaction and indecision cost people more than failure ever willConnect with Bart Merrell and learn more about Side Hustle Samurai Free gift: 1K Blind Spot Assessment The Quiet Gift: A Journey of Self Worth and Resilience is now available for download as an audible. Meaningful Success Book Launch: Natalie & Pam Discuss Finding Fulfillment in a High-Achievement World
Send us Fan MailMeaningful Success challenges the belief that achievement alone creates fulfillment. In this special episode of Reignite Resilience, cohosts Natalie Davis and Pamela Cass pull back the curtain on the creation of their newest book in the Red Journal Series, Meaningful Success: How Clarity and Alignment Actually Drive Real Achievement. Together, they explore the inspiration behind the story, the evolution of the Red Journal Series, and the lessons they've learned through years of conversations with resilient individuals from all walks of life. What began as an idea rooted in podcast conversations evolved into a powerful narrative designed to help readers examine their own relationship with success, fulfillment, identity, and personal values. The discussion dives into the challenges of writing, the vulnerability of sharing stories, and the realization that many high achievers spend years chasing goals only to discover that achievement does not automatically create meaning. Natalie shares how the fictional character Jasmine's journey reflects experiences many professionals, leaders, entrepreneurs, and caregivers face when they realize they have built a successful life that no longer feels fully aligned. Pamela contributes her own insights around self-discovery, values, connection, and the personal growth that comes from examining the stories we tell ourselves. Together, they discuss how the podcast has transformed them, the importance of honoring yourself, and why sharing your story can create an impact far beyond what you imagine. In This Episode Why achievement and fulfillment are not the same thing How the Red Journal Series was developed through the Reignite Resilience community The role values and alignment play in creating meaningful success Why honoring yourself is essential to sustainable growth What Natalie and Pamela learned about resilience, identity, and purpose through the writing process Whether you're pursuing ambitious goals, navigating a major life transition, considering writing your own story, or redefining what success means to you, this conversation offers powerful insights to help you move forward with greater clarity and intention. Somatic Intelligence: The Body-First Reset for Burned-Out Leaders with Megan McDonald (part 2)
Send us Fan MailSomatic intelligence is not a wellness trend. It is a science-backed operating system for leaders who are done performing on empty. In Part 2 of this conversation, Megan McDonald moves from story into practice. She guides Natalie Davis and Pamela Cass, along with every listener, through a live somatic experiencing session using the five senses to return the nervous system to a regulated state. Natalie describes the shift as going from grounded to lighter. Pamela names it as deep gratitude and full presence. That shift, in under five minutes, is exactly what Megan teaches. From there, the conversation expands into what is possible when nervous system regulation becomes a leadership competency. Megan describes what a regulated C-suite looks like, why the traditional identity of the high performer is a survival pattern rather than a strength, and what asking for help actually requires in practice. She shares her own PTSD diagnosis, her corporate layoff, the three years she spent rebuilding through study and somatic work, and how Soma Q was born from all of it.You will also hear about her proprietary Neurosoma Access assessment, her one-month, four-month, and 12-month programs, her free weekly resets, and her upcoming Presence Under Pressure workshops in Loveland and Wheat Ridge. Megan closes with a story from her advanced yoga training that delivers one of the most honest observations in the entire episode about how even the most trained practitioners still will not ask for help.In This Episode:A live somatic experiencing practice using the five senses, including sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste, that you follow in real timeWhy nervous system regulation is not about slowing down high performers; it is about removing the ceiling on how long they performHow Soma Q works, including the Neurosoma Access proprietary assessment, and what the three program levels addressWhy the rise in autoimmune diagnoses is connected, according to Megan, to unaddressed nervous system dysregulationWhy asking for help is a nervous system skill, not a character trait, and how to start practicing itConnect with Megan McDonald and learn more about Soma Q, the free weekly resets, and the Presence Under Pressure workshops:The Quiet Gift: A Journey of Self Worth and Resilience is now available for download as an audible. Nervous System Regulation: Why High Performers Burn Out with Megan McDonald
Send us Fan MailNervous system regulation is the missing piece in every burnout recovery conversation, and Soma Q founder Megan McDonald is here to change that.Megan McDonald spent 13 years as a healthcare technology executive leading through chaos while her own nervous system was quietly collapsing. An emergency hysterectomy, a skin cancer diagnosis, and a health crisis she almost did not survive forced her into the work she now teaches every day. In Part 1 of this two-part conversation, Megan joins Natalie Davis and Pamela Cass to break down why high performers burn out, what is happening in the body when stress goes unprocessed, and why the traditional wellness playbook is no longer enough.Megan introduces the science of somatic intelligence, what she calls SQ, and makes the case that IQ and emotional intelligence are incomplete without nervous system literacy. She traces her own story from a childhood trauma she never told her parents about, through years of workplace bullying, to building a survival identity rooted in masculine energy and relentless proving. She explains how that pattern, while effective in the short term, ultimately produces the exact burnout it was designed to prevent. This conversation is direct, grounded, and packed with real-world application. You will not find motivational language here. You will find science, lived experience, and a clear framework for understanding why your body is doing what it is doing. In This Episode:Why nervous system dysregulation is the root cause of burnout in high performers, not a symptomHow unprocessed stress from childhood and workplace trauma creates the patterns that drive overachievement and eventual collapseWhat productivity culture costs your body and why slowing down feels threatening when you are most depletedThe difference between being tired and being depleted, and why that distinction changes everythingWhy somatic intelligence, SQ, belongs alongside IQ and emotional intelligence in every high performance modelMegan McDonald is the founder and CEO of Soma Q, a neuroscience-informed leadership company. Chronic Pain, Identity Loss + Resiliency with Nancy Deyo (Part 2)
Send us Fan MailWhen you’re told “we don’t have anything more for you,” the real question becomes brutally simple: what do you do next? We talk with Nancy about chronic pain, opioid use that kept her alive but did not give her a life, and the moment she realised pushing harder was actually hurting her. What follows is not a neat comeback story. It’s a clear-eyed look at identity loss, grief, and the kind of acceptance that doesn’t excuse what happened but finally stops the war with your own body.We dig into the idea of the “new normal” and why the phrase can feel like a threat when you were built to achieve, lead, and perform. Nancy shares how her therapist reframed it: you don’t have to give up, you have to give in enough to stop fighting yourself. From there, we explore what redefining resilience really looks like in daily life: noticing limits, staying present with hard feelings, and then pushing on the possibilities that still exist inside those limits.Nancy also tells the unforgettable story of going back to graduate school even though she couldn’t sit, bringing a portable army cot into the classroom and learning to be seen without apology. We talk disability accommodations, people-pleasing, and the way community can hand you your identity back when you’ve reduced yourself to a diagnosis. Along the way, she shares practical advice for anyone dealing with loss, burnout, illness, or a life disruption that changes everything: treat pain and grief as information, and find your person, even a health advocate, when you’re too tired to fight the system alone. The Quiet Gift: A Journey of Self Worth and Resilience is now available for download as an audible. From Silicon Valley Success To Chronic Pain Recovery + Resiliency with Nancy Deyo (Part 1)
Send us Fan MailYou can muscle through a deadline, a setback, even a broken heart, but what happens when you try to muscle through your own body? We sit down with Nancy Deo, a former Silicon Valley CEO and Stanford Distinguished Careers Institute fellow, whose search for redemption after a devastating business loss led her to climb Mount Kilimanjaro with an already injured back. What followed was a collapse at 16,000 feet, a terrifying descent off the mountain, and the kind of pain that rewrites your entire life story.Nancy takes us inside the high performance culture that trained her to endure at all costs, and the moment she realised that the same “discipline and control” that once defined her success was no longer serving her. We talk about the hidden emotional toll of chronic pain, the mind-bending experience of being told “you’re fine” while your body insists otherwise, and how misdiagnosis can erode self-trust. She shares the medical reality too: missed fractures, major spine surgery, and the long recovery that refused to move in a straight line.We also get honest about opioid dependence, how relief can quickly turn into “taking them so you don’t feel worse,” and why pain can create a vicious cycle of fear and anxiety. Nancy’s story ultimately challenges the most common resilience myth: that strength is always pushing harder. Five Stages Of Grief + Resiliency with Victoria Volk (Part 2)
Send us Fan MailThe moment your health slips, it’s tempting to blame discipline. We take a different route and it starts with one question: what else is going on in your life that your body is carrying? Together with Victoria, we talk about the “overlay” of wellness, how relationships, stress, and loss bleed into every so-called silo, and why a doctor asking about your real life can be more healing than a quick checklist. We also go straight at a cultural staple that quietly harms a lot of people: the five stages of grief. Victoria explains why grief isn’t linear, why emotions can hit all at once, and how the pop version of grief can push us to “be strong,” rush the pain, and pretend we’re fine. When grief gets stored instead of expressed, it doesn’t disappear, it shows up in the body and in the way we parent, partner, and lead. From there, we explore what changes when you choose support and an evidence-based grief recovery program instead of trying to heal on an island. Victoria shares how addressing grief can unlock momentum, purpose, and deeper connection, plus the modalities that entered her life after doing the hard work, including Reiki and biofield tuning. We also talk end-of-life care, becoming a hospice volunteer, and her upcoming legacy-focused podcast project, Wisdom Keepers. The Quiet Gift: A Journey of Self Worth and Resilience is now available for download as an audible. How To Recognize Hidden Grief, Finally Heal + Resiliency with Victoria Volk (Part 1)
Send us Fan MailGrief doesn’t always show up as tears at a funeral. Sometimes it shows up as rage in the checkout line, a body that feels like it’s failing you, or a quiet belief that you have to handle everything alone. We sit down with Victoria, owner of Unleashed Heart LLC, an advanced certified grief recovery specialist and end-of-life doula who brings a rare mix of evidence-based grief work and holistic healing tools like Reiki and biofield tuning.Victoria shares the personal losses that shaped her early life and how those experiences can echo for years as emotional dysregulation, depression-like symptoms, and strained relationships. We unpack the grief myths many of us inherit like “be strong,” “stay busy,” and “just replace the loss,” plus why grief is bigger than death. Friendship endings, identity shifts, lost safety, and unmet hopes and expectations can all be legitimate grief triggers, and ignoring them often creates a heavier load over time.We also get practical about grief recovery and resilience. We talk self-awareness, reflection, journaling to spot repeating patterns, and what it looks like to choose support instead of white-knuckling it. If you’re navigating trauma, burnout, chronic stress, or a season of change, this conversation offers language, validation, and next steps. The Quiet Gift: A Journey of Self Worth and Resilience is now available for download as an audible. How A Digital Wardrobe Revives Forgotten Clothes + Resiliency with Lacy Cadieux-McLean (Part 2)
Send us Fan MailYour closet is full, yet you still feel like you have “nothing to wear.” That isn’t a style problem, it’s a memory and decision problem, and it drains energy before your day even starts. We sit down with Lacey to unpack a smarter approach: a digital wardrobe that helps you catalogue what you own, generate fresh outfit combinations with AI, and finally stop rebuying the same basics because you forgot they were already hanging at home. We get into the surprisingly human side of fashion technology, including shareable closets that let friends and family plan looks together for trips, conferences, and big nights out. Think less frantic texting and more confident coordination, down to color choices and the right “shade of blue.” We also talk outfit calendaring as a practical outfit planner that can cut overpacking and make travel easier by building intentional looks ahead of time. Along the way, we name the real culprit many of us ignore: decision fatigue, the steady drip of micro choices that steals time and focus every single morning. Then we go deeper on virtual try on avatars and why seeing clothing on an avatar can help you evaluate fit and color with a little more distance from mirror anxiety. Lacey also shares the sustainability angle: digital clothing that integrates into your virtual closet so you can test versatility before buying a physical piece, helping reduce textile waste while keeping fashion more affordable. We close with hard earned startup truth about imperfect projects, problem solving, and the grit it takes to ship. Closet Chaos, Conscious Style + Resiliency with Lacy Cadieux-McLean (Part 1)
Send us Fan MailYour closet might be doing more than holding clothes. It might be quietly adding stress, feeding decision fatigue, and exposing you to materials you have never once seen listed on a tag. We sit down with Lacey Kazoo McLean, founder and CEO of Rubia, to unpack the hidden problem inside modern professional fashion and the surprisingly hopeful ways to fix it.We talk about what pushes so many of us back to synthetics and fast fashion: the lack of truly tailored sustainable options, the time crunch of real life, and the fact that an organic cotton blazer or bamboo shirt can be painfully hard to find if you still want structure and polish. Lacey shares how her background in IT project management and a spark of creativity reignited through designing her daughter’s graduation dress led to a fashion tech company built around non-toxic materials, sustainable design, and a smarter way to use what we already own. Then we go deeper into the why. We discuss microplastics from synthetic fibers, what happens when clothing ends up in landfills, and why transparency around chemicals and “forever” treatments matters when fabric sits on your skin all day. We also tackle affordability and health equity head-on: sustainable clothing costs more to produce, and expecting people to “just buy better” ignores budgets and reality. The Quiet Gift: A Journey of Self Worth and Resilience is now available for download as an audible. Decision Fatigue Is The Real Prison Sentence with Jesse Crossen (Part 2)
Send us Fan MailThe hardest part of starting over isn’t always the big stuff like a job, a home, or a fresh start on paper. It’s the moment someone cuts the line, your body tenses, your heart races, and you realize the outside world runs on a different set of rules. We sit down with Jesse Crosson to talk about prison reentry, resilience, and what it really takes to build a steady life when chaos is everywhere and burnout is always waiting. We also trace the story back to the juvenile center, where an art teacher’s tearful message sparks a deeper mission: stop losing kids to the same cycles and give them a place to dream out loud without being judged. Jesse shares the small moment that says everything a young person quietly admits he wants to be a flight attendant, expecting ridicule, and instead finds support. That’s the kind of psychological safety that turns into confidence, identity, and forward motion. From there, we get practical. Jesse explains a minimum viable product for a re-entry video game that simulates real-world triggers like conflict, crowds, and decision fatigue. We talk about how prison structure can make everyday freedom overwhelming, why reducing options can protect your nervous system, and how relationships can either stabilize your life or drag you back into old patterns. The bigger takeaway applies to all of us: learning to sit with discomfort, staying curious, and treating setbacks as information can change the entire direction of a life. How A 32-Year Sentence Sparked Real Freedom + Resiliency with Jesse Crossen (Part 1)
Send us Fan MailOne bad chapter doesn’t have to be the last, but what does it actually take to believe that when the consequences are real? We talk with Jesse Crossen, founder of Second Chancer Foundation and author of The Best Part of Prison, about the uncomfortable truth behind transformation: it often starts after the collapse, when you can’t run anymore.Jesse shares how a lifelong sense of not being “enough” pushed him to search for relief in all the wrong places, until cocaine turned a gap year into a fast spiral that ended in robbery, a shooting, and a staggering 32-year prison sentence. We dig into the moment prison became a strange doorway to agency, the daily choices that rebuilt self-respect, and the mentorship that changed everything including his story of helping a man called Big Baby earn his GED and, in the process, learning what persistence really looks like.We also follow the re-entry journey after a conditional governor’s pardon in 2021: decision fatigue, learning how to make choices again, and using storytelling to connect with people who feel trapped in “mental cages” even without bars. Jesse explains how his non-profit keeps iterating based on what works, from early re-entry programs to a bold new idea: a re-entry video game for prison tablets that lets people practice high-stakes life skills in a low-stakes environment. Send us Fan MailProbate doesn’t just cost money, it costs time, focus, and peace while you’re already grieving. Natalie Davis and Pamela Kat sit down with Rachel “The Money Maven” Gonzalo to talk about the real-life moments that force financial clarity: a parent’s house stuck in probate during COVID, out-of-state headaches, and the painful lesson that “I thought everything was in place” can be dangerously wrong. We get practical about estate planning and end-of-life documents: why wills, directives, and properly titled assets matter, how beneficiary designations work in the real world, and why paying an estate attorney now can save your family far more later. We also talk about the emotional side, the shame people feel about “starting late,” and how to replace that with a simple plan and a next step. Then we shift into Q4 of life planning, the retirement stretch where stability matters more than bravado. Rachel explains tools people ask about, including a life insurance retirement plan (LERP), ways risk-averse savers think about protecting principal with a “zero floor,” and why reviewing old policies can uncover surprises, including coverage that looks big on paper but isn’t. Turning Trauma Into Financial Strength + Resiliency with Rachel Gonzales (Part 1)
Send us Fan MailA divorce can blow up your “someday” plan. A cancer diagnosis can make time feel loud. Rachel Gonzalez lived both, plus the grief of losing her parents, and she made a decision that changed everything: her pain would not be wasted. We sit down with Rachel, the founder of The Money Maven, to talk about resilience that’s built in real life not in a quote on a wall.We get into the moment fear turns into focus, and why service became Rachel’s north star while navigating breast cancer treatment and the reality that doctor appointments don’t care about an 8-to-5 job. From motorcycles and rock climbing to rebuilding a career with flexibility, she shares what it looks like to keep moving forward even when life feels like a fire hose. Then we go practical, because resilience also means preparedness. Rachel breaks down estate planning in plain language: medical power of attorney, financial power of attorney, end-of-life wishes, wills and trusts, life insurance, and retirement planning that protects your family. She also tells a story we won’t forget about a “will” that was just an unsigned Word document, a last-minute notary, and the probate chaos that so many families stumble into. The Quiet Gift: A Journey of Self Worth and Resilience is now available for download as an audible. What If Pain Is A Teacher Not A Problem + Resiliency with Ayumi Otaki (Part 2)
Send us Fan MailYou can be “successful” and still be running on empty and sometimes it takes a life event to make that impossible to ignore. We sit down with Ayumi for a candid, deeply human conversation about leadership, self-care, and what changed when she faced breast cancer while still trying to keep work moving. We talk about the pressure to look normal, the decision to be open with a team without turning your private life into a public broadcast, and why protecting your mind (including staying off internet rabbit holes) can be a real act of resilience. From there, we get practical and personal about emotional processing: creating space to sit with grief and anger, journaling what you feel, and letting support in instead of carrying everything alone. Ayumi shares the lesson so many high-achievers learn late, especially caregivers and nurturers: fill your cup first. We unpack how grind culture trains us to skip meals, ignore our bodies, and feel guilty for rest, and how that “productivity” eventually becomes counterproductive for the nervous system, health, and relationships. We also explore what grounded leadership looks like day to day: showing up with ease, being more present with your people, and modelling the self-care you encourage in others. You’ll hear about simple resilience habits like a screen-free walk, setting intentions, watching your self-talk, and being more intentional with your phone. Market Crash, Meaningful Leadership + Resiliency with Ayumi Otaki (Part 1)
Send us Fan MailGrief and grit sit side by side today. We start by remembering Dr Molador and the imprint he left through his work, his humour, and the community around this show, then we turn to a story that captures what “reignite resilience” looks like in real life when the ground shifts under you.Our guest, Ayumi, is an executive managing director at Corcoran, supporting agent success across Brooklyn and Queens. Her journey starts with a global family story, growing up in San Francisco after being born in France, then taking a leap to New York City in February 2008 with a suitcase and $1,000. The timing could not have been tougher: the market crash, layoffs, and the sudden feeling that the “city of opportunity” had gone quiet. Ayumi walks us through the mindset behind her pivot into real estate, how mentorship changed her confidence, and why moving toward what your heart wants can unlock momentum you can’t predict. We also dig into leadership and personal growth: imposter syndrome, managing people with more experience than you, and the surprising strength that comes from admitting what you don’t know. Then the conversation gets even more real as Ayumi shares burnout after the post-lockdown real estate surge, the grief of losing her father, and an early breast cancer diagnosis. She explains why finishing treatment is not the finish line, how healing and integration unfold afterward, and the small daily rituals that helped her come back to herself. If you care about resilience, burnout recovery, women in leadership, real estate career lessons, and mental health tools that actually fit into a workday, you’ll take something practical from this. The Quiet Gift: A Journey of Self Worth and Resilience is now available for download as an audible. We sit down with Heather for a raw, steady conversation about what it takes to rebuild when life turns unsafe and your mind starts believing there is no way out. Her story moves from ambition and growth into domestic violence, stalking, and the brutal reality of disentangling a shared home, all while trying to keep showing up like everything is fine.We talk openly about depression, PTSD, and suicidal thoughts, then get specific about what helped Heather stay here: “one more day,” a few trusted people who simply listened, and a gratitude practice grounded in the smallest truths like coffee, sunlight, and breathing. If you have ever supported someone through trauma recovery, we also break down why you do not need the perfect words. You need presence, patience, and active listening.Heather also shares the mission of SAVA Center, a Sexual Assault Victim Advocacy Center serving Weld and Larimer counties, including free therapy for survivors from age three and up, support through SANE exams, and prevention education in schools focused on body autonomy and healthy boundaries. Childhood Trauma, Real Estate Leadership + Resiliency with Heather Washburn (Part 1)
Send us Fan MailWhen you’re running on empty, the hardest part is admitting it and the bravest part is asking for support. We open by leaning into community and sending love and prayers to Dr John Molador, reminding ourselves that resilience is not a solo sport and caregivers carry weight too. Then we sit down with Heather Washburn, managing broker at ReMax Alliance in Windsor, Colorado, to trace a story of grit that starts long before business success. Heather shares what it was like surviving six years of childhood abuse by a trusted babysitter, the confusion of being too young to explain what was happening, and the lasting impact of staying in the same community where the abuser still had influence. We talk about identity, why she refuses the victim label, and how speaking about trauma can help someone else feel less alone.Heather also walks us through building a new life, graduating high school early, leaving Illinois, and finding belonging in Colorado. Her background in electroneurodiagnostics and high stress hospital work shaped the calm, fast decision making she now brings to real estate leadership, luxury relocation, and strategic pricing. When Spiritual Coaching Meets Real Life Burnout + Resiliency with Pam Cass and Natalie Davis (Part 2)
Send us Fan MailYour calendar can be packed and you can still feel depleted. We get into that uncomfortable gap between “I’m doing everything” and “why don’t I feel fulfilled,” and we name the pattern a lot of high performers fall into: overcomplicating the plan until busy becomes a hiding place. We share what we noticed after a fresh coaching experience, including the moment it clicked that success might require doing fewer things, not more things. We also talk about spiritual coaching in a grounded, practical way, including how Rachel Jane Groover’s work helps us create and hold safer space as speakers and coaches. When your job is to lead conversations, coach clients, or show up powerfully on stage, your energy is part of the product. We unpack what it looks like to stop ending the day wiped out, how a great coach calls out blind spots, and why the right support system makes simplification possible. Then we take you behind the scenes of a filmed production where wardrobe stress, mic noise, and camera lights collide with real vulnerability, and how those small moments reveal what we cling to for comfort. Burnout, Boundaries, Blind Spots + Resiliency with Pam Cass and Natalie Davis (Part 1)
Send us Fan MailThe moment you say yes and your stomach drops, you’re not being dramatic, you’re getting data. We talk about that exact feeling and what it reveals about burnout, overcommitment, and the sneaky way “side quests” steal your time and energy. Pamela Cass and I also share the wild coincidence of booking the same day on a new YouTube coaching show, then realising what that actually meant: zero hiding and full visibility. From there we get honest about the coaching paradox. We coach for a living, but we can be the worst at coaching ourselves because our blind spots feel normal. We dig into what it’s like to have a skilled coach shine a flashlight into the corners, name what we’ve been avoiding, and push us toward real leadership presence. We also unpack Enneagram patterns, especially the Enneagram 9 peacekeeper vibe, people pleasing, and “self-forgetting” that looks like saying yes so nobody is upset, then feeling resentment later. We go deeper into resilience tools that actually work: a 14-day “say no” challenge, boundaries that protect your goals, energy management for speakers and leaders who tend to leak their life force, and shadow work that integrates the desire to be lovable with the power of being willing to be unlovable when a hard boundary is needed. The Seven-Second Reset + Resiliency with Jennifer Watson (Part 2)
Send us Fan MailIf you feel like you’re performing all day and still ending up drained, you’re not broken. You’re likely leading from a stressed nervous system. We sit down with elite performance strategist Jennifer Watson to connect the dots between emotional intelligence, resilience, and the numbers leaders care about: productivity, retention, engagement, and decision-making under pressure. She explains why “pushing through” often creates a curtain over performance where communication bounces off and problems take three meetings instead of one.We also dig into the uncomfortable side of modern work: AI can speed things up while quietly eroding critical thinking and human connection. Jennifer makes a strong case for human-centric leadership in an AI world, where presence, nonverbal communication, and emotional capacity become competitive advantages. The goal isn’t to ditch technology. It’s to rebuild the human skills that keep teams healthy and cultures strong.Jennifer shares practical tools you can use immediately, including the seven-second pause, how to challenge the thing you’ve been avoiding, and how to shift your state back to calm so your creativity comes online again. She lays out an hourly somatic check-in and a simple end-of-day audit to spot emotional patterns like anxiety, anger, or feeling threatened, then turn that awareness into clearer conversations and better boundaries. The Quiet Gift: A Journey of Self Worth and Resilience is now available for download as an audible. It starts when your body stops feeling safe, and you keep calling that “drive.” We sit down with Jennifer Watson, a former D1 track athlete and two-time All-American turned executive performance strategist and wellness expert, to unpack what resilience really looks like when you’re leading, building a business, or simply trying to stay steady through a hard season.Jennifer shares the uncomfortable side of high performance: identity loss after sport, loneliness when mental health is still taboo, and the moment you realize success can coexist with misery. From there, we move into a more useful model of mental health and resilience rooted in neuroscience and the mind-body connection. Her big idea is simple and challenging: healing matters, but so does execution. Once you’ve done the work, you still need real-time frameworks to make aligned decisions under pressure without forcing yourself into a constant state of chaos. We also get concrete about workplace culture and leadership. Psychological safety isn’t a buzzword here, it’s the foundation for honest conversations, better decisions, and teams that don’t quietly fall apart. Jennifer explains why leaders don’t need to be therapists, how a seven-second pause can change the way you respond, and why policies like minimal PTO and rigid nine-to-five days can quietly fuel anxiety and burnout. If you lead remote or hybrid teams, you’ll take away practical ways to create real connection on screen and off.The Quiet Gift: A Journey of Self Worth and Resilience is now available for download as an audible. Refusing To Be Rushed + Resiliency with Dale Atkinson (Part 2)
Send us Fan MailHe coined the word “scansiety” because ordinary anxiety doesn’t cover what happens when your life is measured in scan dates and result calls. We sit down with Dale Atkinson, a stage four esophageal cancer patient who refuses to let fear or rushed timelines make his decisions, and he walks us through the most important shift he made: moving from helpless waiting to evidence based action.Dale shares how grief, family pressure, and a brutal prognosis pushed him into deep research, from PubMed papers to metabolic therapy concepts and the Warburg effect. We dig into how next generation sequencing and chemosensitivity testing can map cancer pathways and reveal personalised options, and why repurposed drugs and off label medications like metformin keep showing up in oncology research even when they’re not commonly discussed in clinic. He also explains what “complementary care” looks like in real life: building a holistic protocol with an integrative oncologist and an expert naturopath, adding tools like hyperbaric oxygen therapy, red light therapy, infrared sauna, cold exposure, and movement, all intended to support standard of care rather than replace it.We also go straight at the hard stuff: pushback from medical systems, fear tactics, gaps in informed consent, and why patients deserve clear explanations of risks and side effects, including immunotherapy concerns like liver inflammation with pembrolizumab. Dale closes with practical guidance for patients and caregivers, from taking time before major treatment decisions to simple breathwork and five minute resets that protect mindset and hope. The Quiet Gift: A Journey of Self Worth and Resilience is now available for download as an audible. Stage Four Cancer Diagnosis + Resiliency with Dale Atkinson (Part 1)
Send us Fan MailA single medical test can flip your life from “busy” to “before and after” in minutes. We talk with Dale Atkinson, a health advocate, entrepreneur, father, and stage four cancer patient, about the exact moment he learned he had an oesophageal tumour while fully awake during an endoscopy, and what it takes to keep your mind steady when your body drops devastating news. We also trace the road that led there: years of worsening heartburn and swallowing issues, repeated reassurance that it was “just stress,” and the long, reactive waits that can happen in a strained healthcare system. Dale explains how his partner’s lung cancer was found by chance, how their family navigated major surgery with two small children at home, and why uncertainty can feel heavier than the diagnosis itself while you wait for scans, MDT decisions, and a treatment plan. If you care about resilience, self-advocacy in healthcare, mental health, and leadership under pressure, this conversation lands hard and stays useful. Along the way, we dig into practical coping strategies drawn from psychology and cognitive behavioural therapy, plus the hard-earned leadership skill of staying present in the room you are in even when your mind is racing ahead. The result is an honest look at grief, fear, and family, without pretending resilience is easy or clean. From Rock Bottom To Responsibility + Resiliency with Resiliency with James McKenna (Part 2)
Send us Fan MailEver felt the fire dim and wondered how to light it again—without the crutches that leave you empty? We sit down with James, a candid artist whose story moves from the raw edges of a failed marriage to the grounded practice of building from the bottom. He describes the “dream state” of deep creative flow, not as a chemical high, but as a sober, meditative presence where time softens and attention sharpens. From there, he shares a simple tool that changes everything: a four-bucket method for sorting pain into what can’t be changed, what might be changed, the hard traits that must be managed, and what was never yours to carry. The conversation blends real-world scars with practical steps. James reframes fault as responsibility, shifting the frame from past-tense blame to future-focused design. That shift invites empathy: you’re not responsible for others’ choices, but you are responsible for the situations you create. We talk about flow and meditation as repeatable doors back to yourself, how honest feedback fuels art and trust, and why specific reactions beat empty praise. Along the way, James offers a grounded take on selling creative work, facing the parts of ourselves that resist change, and using limits as scaffolding for growth. The Quiet Gift: A Journey of Self Worth and Resilience is now available for download as an audible. From Bipolar Cycles To Creative Breakthroughs + Resiliency with James McKenna (Part 1)
Send us Fan MailEver felt your spark flicker and wondered how to light it again? We sit down with artist James McKenna to trace the real, unglamorous craft of resilience—how a childhood shaped by volatility, a life with bipolar depression and emerging BPD insights, and years of creative trial and error forged a voice in steel and stone that people can’t ignore. James doesn’t trade in tidy turnarounds. He builds them, one welded choice at a time.We walk through the moments that mattered: recognizing a nine-day mood cycle and how criticism can wound or wake you depending on the day; facing a year of nightly tears after a broken marriage and turning that bottom into a place to observe, learn, and take one small step up; and embracing mentors who refused to flatter. When a director called his work “trinkets for walls” and another mentor said a favorite piece “looked like something made to look like art,” he chose to listen. The result was a surge in growth, a new body of work, and a deeper understanding that honest, specific critique can be a handrail when the mind is noisy.James also opens the studio door to the “dream world” of making—where time slides, focus sharpens, and steel’s stubbornness forces clarity. We talk about art as a vessel for pain that viewers recognize in themselves, the realities of galleries, pricing, and scale, and how to give artists feedback that truly helps: say what moved you and why. Along the way, we swap stories about fragile highs, caffeine-fueled focus, and the practical rituals that help when the ground feels thin. The Quiet Gift: A Journey of Self Worth and Resilience is now available for download as an audible. Seasons of Friendship, Grief + Resiliency with Pam and Natalie
Send us Fan MailSome weeks feel like a country song: the dryer dies, plans derail, and a goodbye hits home. We open up about a raw stretch that brought grief to the table and reminded us why stories, rituals, and the right people matter. From honoring Aunt Irene with a thread of family memories to watching kids face a first real loss, we explore how to hold space for pain while still choosing what helps: presence, small rituals, and honest conversation. We also dig into the seasons of friendship—those bonds that shaped us for years and then faded as life changed. Letting go without guilt is a skill. We ask the questions that keep your circle healthy: Who leaves you lighter? Who fans your spark? And where are you carrying relationships that no longer fit the person you’re becoming? That clarity extends to social media too. Algorithms follow attention, so we talk about muting triggers, unfollowing what stirs anger, and curating a feed that supports mental health and momentum.Purpose threads through every segment. While some friends are retiring, we feel like we’re just getting started, and that’s okay. We share updates on races, virtual events, and live plans, along with a candid look at protecting big dreams from well-meaning doubt. Your vision deserves listeners who ask better questions and offer practical support. If you’re navigating grief, recalibrating your tribe, or restarting a passion that still tugs at you, this is a warm, unfiltered space to feel seen and get tools you can use today. If this resonated, tap follow, share it with a friend who needs encouragement, and leave a quick review so more listeners can find the show. Rethinking Skincare + Resilience with Kaitlyn Schneider (part 2)
Send us Fan MailA yoga trip, a shared mat, and an instant breakout became the perfect catalyst to rethink one of beauty’s oldest myths: if it burns, it works. We dig into why calmer, science-backed routines can outperform harsh quick fixes and how the body’s own regenerative power thrives when we stop overwhelming it. From separating acute inflammation from its chronic cousin to explaining how cells “budget” energy for collagen and barrier repair, we translate complex biology into choices that make skin stronger, calmer, and visibly healthier. We also go behind the scenes of formulation. Potent actives mean little if the texture is sticky, heavy, or fussy. We talk about building elegant, fast-absorbing formats that you’ll actually reach for every day and why clinical testing is the north star when motivation wobbles. Data gives confidence: real measurements, real images, and results that stand up on hard days. Then we connect performance to behavior through branding. Packaging isn’t vanity—it’s a cue that keeps products on your counter, not lost in a cabinet. Designing for women over 50 with bold taste and big stories, we merge lab-grade efficacy with perfume-worthy objects that invite ritual and reflect identity. The entrepreneurial thread runs throughout: leaving a secure engineering path to craft something new, navigating doubt without shortcuts, and staying close to customers long after launch. Optimization may not sound glamorous, but it’s how a brand stays relevant, responsive, and genuinely helpful. By the end, you’ll have a reframed view of inflammation, a practical lens for evaluating skincare, and a fresh respect for design as a tool for consistency. If this conversation sparks an idea—about your routine or your next leap—hit follow, share with a friend who loves science and beauty, and leave a review to tell us what you want explored next. The Quiet Gift: A Journey of Self Worth and Resilience is now available for download as an audible. Simplified Skincare, Real Results + Resiliency with Kaitlyn Schneider (part 1)
Send us Fan MailWhat if the real secret to healthier, brighter skin isn’t more products—but one root cause? We sit down with biological engineer and beauty founder Kaitlyn Schneider to unpack why wrinkles, redness, dryness, and dullness often trace back to chronic inflammation—and how a science-first, three-step routine can cut through noise and deliver results you can see and feel.Kaitlyn shares how her path from large-scale engineering to skincare shaped a systems view of beauty: technology must be usable, and rituals must be grounded in evidence. She walks us through a minimalist approach that replaces bloated, confusing routines with three purposeful steps: an oil-based cleanser that dissolves makeup and SPF without stripping, a brightening and hydrating mist that stands in for toner and essence, and a serum-cream hybrid that repairs and moisturizes without heaviness. One routine, morning and night, designed for consistency and impact. We also dig into the tech behind the textures. Kaitlyn introduces a patent-pending nanotechnology active clinically tested for cellular benefits, including support for growth factor expression and healthier turnover. Instead of masking symptoms, the formula targets the source—calming inflammatory signals while reinforcing barrier strength. Along the way, we tackle common questions: Does this work for men’s thicker, oilier skin? How do we balance hydration without greasiness? What’s the smarter path for sensitive or combination skin? The answer blends shared biology with strategic ingredients that regulate sebum and lock in water, all while keeping steps simple. This conversation is equal parts myth-busting and momentum-building. If double cleansing, 10 bottles, and AM/PM confusion have you stuck, consider this your permission to simplify. Learn how to make small, consistent moves that compound: good ingredients, proper application, and regular use. If you found value here, follow the show, share it with a friend who’s drowning in serums, and leave a quick review—what’s one step you’re ready to drop first? The Quiet Gift: A Journey of Self Worth and Resilience is now available for download as an audible. From Pivot To Power + Resiliency with Pam Cass and Natalie Davis (Part 1)
Send us Fan MailA no-show guest. A ticking clock. And a room full of listeners waiting to be inspired. We decided to pivot in public—and that’s where the real story began. Join us as we unpack how Reignite Live 2026 came to life in Loveland, Colorado, and why community design, not perfection, is what turns ideas into action. We walk through the chain of serendipity that started with a donated venue and became a full-day experience built for depth: doors open early for coffee and connection, journals at every seat, cohort tables that turn strangers into micro‑masterminds, and a fireside chat that traded scripts for honesty. Along the way, we share the messy middle—an Amazon book hiccup that became a future asset, a hosting platform scare that briefly erased our catalog, and the hard-earned lessons from a bad hire that cost time but sharpened our systems. Expect candid talk about resilience, event planning, and the quiet power of authentic leadership. You’ll also hear why Think Week is our creative engine and how we’re evolving it into a tropical retreat where breathwork, beach walks, and bold strategy co-exist. We talk psychological safety, setting clear asks, and building rooms where people feel safe to tell the truth and brave enough to act. Reignite Live Recap + Resiliency with Pam Cass and Natalie Davis (Part 2)
Send us Fan MailEver felt the spark dim and wondered how to light it again without burning out? We take you behind the scenes of Reignite Live—our no-playbook, all-heart event—where a room of strangers became allies through candid stories, practical tools, and a shared hunger for momentum that actually means something. From early fumbles to a rock-solid team, from a surprise “twin” outfit moment to a powerhouse MC, the day mixed humor with hard questions and turned insight into action. We dig into one idea that changed the room: momentum and intention are not rivals. Momentum gets you moving; intention sets the aim. Paired well, they create progress you can trust. We show how to build that pairing into daily life with a simple happiness index you can score weekly or quarterly. It’s a fast, honest scan across work, health, relationships, and growth that exposes drift before it becomes a pattern. Then we cut through overwhelm with a single 90-day commitment—just one change that moves several levers at once—and explain why real accountability beats friendly excuses every time. You’ll also hear how our audience has shifted to a near 50-50 split of men and women as more people look for real talk on resilience, connection, and sustainable action. We share the fireside chat that sparked vulnerable questions, the micro-coaching moments that unlocked clarity, and the mastermind prompts that challenged autopilot. Staying Relevant Without Burning Out + Resiliency with Wes Towers (Part 2)
Send us Fan MailFeeling the pressure to keep up without burning out? We sat down with Wes to unpack how to stay relevant in a fast-moving market by treating AI as a tool, not a trophy. From spotting real opportunities to building processes that scale, this conversation maps a practical path to resilience: clear vision, focused experiments, and recovery as a competitive edge.We break down a simple filter for adopting new tech: if a tool advances your mission, adopt it; if not, it’s noise. Wes shares how his team evolves SOPs to match the rapid pace of AI and web development while avoiding “living in the weeds.” The solution is cadence—zooming out to check direction, zooming in to build, then zooming out again to measure impact. Along the way, we explore the “dark-to-light” exercise to turn industry risks into strategy, inviting teams to surface threats and design value where others only see obstacles. We also challenge the nine-to-five myth and talk about flexible, season-based work that honors real life. Early calls across time zones balance with early finishes; family milestones become intentional choices, not afterthoughts. On growth, Wes reframes revenue as an imperfect but useful proxy for value delivered, especially for entrepreneurs and solopreneurs. We touch on his book The Simple Manifesto, the rise of tangible learning, and his show Built Trusted Chosen for trade and construction pros looking to sharpen their edge. You’ll leave with practical steps: adopt AI with intent, document and delegate, invite your team into discovery, protect your focus, and treat rest as a lever for output. The Quiet Gift: A Journey of Self Worth and Resilience is now available for download as an audible. From Rock Bottom To Leadership + Resiliency with Wes Towers (Part 1)
Send us Fan MailWhat does it really take to keep showing up when life knocks the wind out of you? We sit down with Australian website strategist and Uplift360 founder Wes Towers to trace a raw arc from early scarcity to building a thriving agency—and the night he cried under his desk, wiped his eyes, dimmed the lights, and still closed the biggest deal of his career. That moment becomes a gateway into practical resilience, nervous system regulation, and the kind of leadership that builds trust when everyone else is turning up the noise.Wes shares how breath work, cold plunges, and short regulation rituals helped him move from survival to steadiness, especially while leading a team and serving clients under pressure. We dig into the fundamental shift from “earning like an employee” to building a purpose-led business that grows your capacity, not just your revenue. Along the way, we explore why human connection is the true competitive edge in trades and construction, where reputation travels faster than ads and a website is only as good as the conversation that follows. On the strategy side, Wes opens his playbook for differentiation in an AI-saturated world. Instead of vague claims, he guides founders through a candid “shadow” audit of industry frustrations, then flips each pain into a clear, ownable promise. That becomes the spine of brand, messaging, and service—so marketing is a promise and operations are the proof. We also talk about using AI responsibly: encode your voice and values into robust prompts that act like modern style guides, or risk publishing generic content that fades into the feed. The Quiet Gift: A Journey of Self Worth and Resilience is now available for download as an audible. Escaping The Founder’s Trap + Resiliency with Charles Gaudet (Part 2)
Send us Fan MailBurnout isn’t a badge of honor; it’s a bottleneck. We sit down with Charles to trace the path from founder-led chaos to a business that scales without the owner glued to every decision. If success has only made you busier, this conversation shows why more leads, more hires, and more clients often sink you deeper into the center—and how to step out by design. We walk through the two hardest points of growth, the quiet mechanics of predictable scale, and the systems that turn tribal knowledge into team leverage. Then we zoom out to the tectonic shift in go-to-market. AI Overviews are swallowing organic clicks, buyers are choosing vendors before the first call, and the classic B2B sales role is morphing into client experience and configuration. Charles breaks down a simple retention formula—relationship plus results equals loyalty—and explains how large language models are already building expert profiles on individuals and companies. The takeaway is blunt: only experts get surfaced. Specialists with evidence win; generalists with vague claims fade from view. You’ll hear a practical way to start right now: a single prompt any leader or team member can use to map how AI will disrupt their role and build a learning plan to stay relevant. We also explore reframing challenges—asking “How could this be the best thing to happen right now?”—to move from reactive stress to productive innovation. Along the way, Charles shares a personal reflection on legacy and why freedom is measured in moments with family, not meetings on a calendar. The Quiet Gift: A Journey of Self Worth and Resilience is now available for download as an audible.
