Parenting in a Broken World: Youth Pastor Tim Wadsworth on Faith, Family & Today's Challenges
In this episode of Russell Jones Speaks, I sit down with Tim Wadsworth, Pastor of Student Ministries at North Hills Church in Taylors, SC. With 17 years in vocational ministry, Tim shares powerful insights on the real challenges facing kids ages 10–17 — both in Christian homes and non-religious families — and how parents can walk with them through it. ### Key Topics: • Why many kids in Christian homes say marriage and following Jesus don’t look appealing • The relatively young history of modern youth ministry and its evolving role in the church • Practical ways to model radical Christianity and healthy marriage at home • Building faith conversations into everyday life (not just formal devotionals) • Reaching students from non-Christian backgrounds with authenticity and generosity • Helping teens find purpose, navigate doubt, and experience real discipleship • Fun family practices like “Treasure Hunts” to teach listening to the Holy Spirit and sharing Jesus Tim also opens up about his own journey — from professional drummer (with stories of mohawks, Red Tie Records, and Atlanta Braves fandom) to husband, father of two boys, and now church elder. Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, or someone who cares about the next generation, this conversation is full of hope, honesty, and actionable wisdom grounded in the gospel. 👉 Share this with a parent who needs encouragement! Big topics: the state of our culture in America, for us guys- how to 'fix' our marriage, what's going on with families, what does a 'local' church look like, what is a ½ Christian, a refreshing view of going through serious sickness, and the answer to 'how hard is it to get right with God'
Peter Hubbard has been serving as the Teaching Pastor at North Hills Church since 1992. He is married to Karen, and they have four adult children, two daughters-in-law, and 3 grands! He has two Master’s Degrees and has earned a Doctor of Ministry degree in Pastoral Counseling from Westminster Theological Seminary.God’s purpose and grace continue to energize Peter to preach through the Scriptures, listening carefully to what God says and how his Spirit applies his Word to the hidden, hurting places in our hearts. He loves to see the transforming power of the gospel shine into the darkest, most difficult struggles. For fun Peter might read, write, play games, take long walks with Karen, and endure persecution for cheering for the Patriots.

Do you want healthy, strong, fit children? A powerful lesson that most will never learn.
Almost 20 years ago I met someone who has been instrumental in changing the trajectory of not only my health and my family’s health but he has also changed mindsets.I’ve been blessed to have 2 people in my life who have continually modeled the question ‘what is humanly possible?’ And have demonstrated to me how I can apply that in my life. That approach to life is not limited to only physical things & comes with a mindset few ever consider.I came to Jay seeking help for one of my children and stepped into a world I never imagined. His system is not just for the elite athletes he has trained but for all human beings. It’s to give everyone the opportunity to live as the miracle we are all gifted by birth. Some choose to apply it to sport, some choose to apply it to normal daily activities. It is for those of any age. When I met Jay, I had been working in the personal fitness field and was performing as a strength athlete for over 20 years and I thought I knew fitness. I didn’t. Not only did I have to learn new things but unlearn so much.My hope for today’s podcast is that you can have ears to hear what is being discussed. It can change your life for the better as it did mine.Welcome Jay Schroeder!

Garry Ingraham- LGBTQ questions
My guest is Garry Ingraham- Executive Director of the Love & Truth NetworkIn an attempt to better understand what is going on in this world I hardly recognize, I stumbled into an event my church hosts a couple of times a year. It was an ‘open to the greater community’ LGBTQ forum. My idea was to sit in the back & see what the conversation was about.I was drawn in by Garry’s compelling story as well as his take on the current state of the LGBTQ movement. I’m sure you will be as well. And I know he’s legit since my awesome pastor & neighbor fully endorses Garry & his work. Some takeaways for me from our conversation:· Ideas on ‘what to do’ regarding your child’s sexual identity.· How ‘nice & kind’ Christians are not prepared to deal with ‘not normal’ behaviors with love and truth.· Sometimes the best gift a parent can give is not what a child wants.· Being intentional about finding a Band of Brothers & a Band of Sisters.· And so much more…Garry is an ordained pastor & author of a new book ‘Am I Gay?’.In 2013, he and his wife Melissa founded Love & Truth Network, a national, non-profit ministry focused on equipping Christian leaders to develop safe and transformational environments with the purpose of restoring sexual wholeness and Biblical identity. Garry and Melissa have two wonderful boys and are humbly grateful for the opportunity to serve the Lord together. You can connect with Garry at www.LoveAndTruthnNetwork.comAnd find his book ‘Am I Gay?’ on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Am-Gay-Cultural-Christianity-Authentic

Helene Neville
cancer mindset, grandma, medicine todayMy guest today is Helene Neville- arguably one of the greatest athletes of all time. What she accomplished back in 2010 got my attention- running a full 26 2/10 mile marathon every day… for 93 days in a row… from the Pacific Ocean in California to the Atlantic Ocean in Florida… taking the southern route across the US… in the summertime… at age 49... after surviving years of treatments for cancer. And all along the way, Helene gave speaking presentations & visited hospitals.Of course, I want to know how she prepared & what she ate. But more importantly I want to know her mindset through it all. Because her story is still very much ‘alive’.If you know anyone with serious illness or is grieving, please share the HOPE that is in this episode.https://heleneneville.com/https://OneOnTheRun.com/Facebook HeleneNevilleInstagram @HeleneNeville
