Simply Pondering

What does it mean to be Christian? What is required for salvation? These ponderings and more can be found in this podcast.

Everything that God ever said would come to pass, did. For the things that didn't, they either weren't from God, or they just haven't happened yet (but are going to soon). These are my latest ponderings on God's promises.

I've had some ponderings about the whole Michael Tait situation. Between the substance abuse and sexual assault, there's a lot of allegations and crap-talk about the former Newsboys and DC Talk singer. However, all of the people talking crap are, guess what, also sinners! We ought to build one another up on this walk called life, not crush and cancel anybody that we find out messed up and is trying to turn away from their sin to get closer to Jesus. But hey, what do I know? I'm just as much a sinner as Michael.

Life is really hard sometimes, and I don't always want to keep going. Can you relate? I think all of us have faced challenges we wanted to give up on. We all have bad days. But God is still good even in the hard times, and your life has purpose beyond what you can see. You MATTER!!! If nothing else, remember that. On the days you don't want to keep going, you still matter.

As we're coming up on Resurrection Sunday, I'm pondering the death of our great King Jesus and the gravity of it all, along with the joyous resurrection soon to follow! He's coming again too; will we see it coming?

Which group do you want to be a part of: those who reign with Christ, or those who suffer the second death? God's wrath is just. Period. I've been pondering some of the timeline of wrath, but it's clear in chapters 15 and 16 that God knows what He's doing and His plan is just. God is so cool! He gives everyone the chance to come to Him, even down to the last second, the very end. One year ago, Israel was attacked by Hamas. How times have changed in the past year! Also, I couldn’t remember during the recording, but currently atop the Temple Mount is the Islamic holy site of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. If Israel truly wants to build a new temple in the mount, they'd have to first remove this mosque. Hence the war and attacks last year. Let us not lose hope, but fix our eyes on Jesus!

Just continuing to read through Revelation and share some ponderings about the passage for anyone who wants to listen. Not super in depth or anything, but a nice blessing to read and share God's Word. He is worthy of it all! The Lamb who conquered death is worthy! Revelation 4-5 here.

Have you noticed the world seems to be getting a darker and darker place to live? I certainly have. Here I share my thoughts on the Olympics opening and closing ceremonies, some changes in our society, and what the Bible says about all this. Plus, how we as Christians should respond. What are you gonna do about the evil rising in the world? Embrace it, or reject it and choose God instead?

Why does God let bad things happen to good people? Because of sin. But, that doesn't mean God abandons His people through the bad times.

The kingdom of God is at hand! I know the time is coming soon when Jesus will return for His bride, but until then, I just want to remember how faithful God is to keep his promises. Let us be faithful too then, shall we?

The time is near when Jesus will return. I've been diving into Matthew 24 and Revelation 6 to grow in understanding about what's coming and what we have to look forward to as followers of Christ. Hey, do you fall short of who God wants you to be and what he wants you to do? Yeah, me too. This is kind of just a reminder that we're all screwed up, but I'm gonna add that we should also be willing to admit when we mess up. I mean, you never know who's watching...

Kids are often told to enjoy their childhood while it lasts, but are they being provided the space, time, and resources to do so? Or are they growing up in an environment that is pushing them to always be busy and grow up faster than they're ready for? 

After reading Make Me Like Jesus by Michael Phillips, I was inspired to contemplate the question, "What does it look like to live like Jesus?" Here's some of my (and Phillips') thoughts on the matter.

I'm stressed. You're stressed. We're all stressed. In this episode, you can probably hear the stress and exhaustion of where I'm at today. We all just need to de-stress. 

What does it meant to live a life devoted to God if we're imperfect? I'm pulling from and focusing on a lot of what Romans has to say here, but I think it's important to answering this question. I'm not perfect. You're not perfect. But we can still be devoted to God despite these things. So, here's some thoughts by Paul and myself. But doesn't it sometimes feel like we're expected, or even called, to be perfect based on the law? Like there's expectations we can't meet? Also, yeah, I lost my place. Guess it's just part of being imperfect...

We all want and need to have people in our lives we can turn to. We all desire community. I've been pondering what people are and are not looking for in community, and how we can build the kind of community that we seek. Just some of my thoughts, but I'd love to hear yours!
