Instead they have been supplied with a few brief quotations that have satisfied the factional disputes." The book is Volume 1 in a series titled Understanding the China Puzzle. Byrne also quotes one of Deng Xiaoping's biographers as saying "The theory of reform and opening that Deng developed several years after Mao's death, in the late 1970s and early 1980s, did not originate with him. It was rooted in...Bukharin's interpretation of Lenin's New Economic Policy aimed at developing a market economy under the control of the Communist Party." Here we talk about the collapse of the Soviet Union, the pivots and periods in China and how those were influenced by the Soviet Union and then we also discuss China's continued unprecedented growth today. You can hear Byrne's previous interview from a couple years ago here on SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/socialistnewsandviews/snv-special-interview-china-brics-and-the-global-economyYou can buy a copy of the book here: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Solving-China-Puzzle-Liberating-Productive-Forces-two-revolutions-shaped-world-one-survived-thrived-Book-1-Paperback-9798996124213/20290601803

This is my reading of a Resolution for May 1st No Work, No School, No Shopping that PASSED unanimously at the Workers Assembly in Minneapolis on February 15th, 2026. The assembly was attended by 400 workers. In the the most important part of the recent email after the Assembly it says:"The most immediate next step: you are invited to a meeting on Sunday, Feb. 22nd at 4pm at the Twin Cities DSA office at 2708 E Lake St., Ste 204 in Minneapolis (call (two)06-9(three)0-201(zero) to be let in)(a zoom option is also offered. please reach out to podcast or other involved workers for the link). We want to discuss a summation of what we accomplished on Feb. 15th, how to set up the committees we voted to create, and how to combine our efforts to form a powerful fist to drive forward May 1st as a day of 'No Work, No School, No Shopping.'"
