    In today's text Paul encourages believers to 'put to death' any behavior that is inconsistent with the resurrected life in Christ.  Keep your mind on Christ, set your attention on things above and it will show in your life. Live a life that reflects Christ and puts off sin that flows from our flesh.

    What was hidden has now been revealed to the saints, which is Paul and now he is revelaing it to us through God's Word.     Colossians 1:21-23 The Reconciling Christ and Our Response

    Paul helps us see the reconciling Christ in today's passage.  Jesus Christ reconciled us to Himself through His sacrifice.  If you're not living like a Christian but you say that you are a Christian, you need to look inward to figure out what's going on.  Faith produces change, if you're saved, you should seem different.

    He is the living, preeminent one who redeems.  Jesus is our Savior.

    Colossians 1: 9-14: What's Your Purpose?

    What's your purpose? To walk worthy and be fully pleasing to the Lord. In this section of scripture, Paul shares his prayer for the Colossians: that they may be filled with the knowledge of God and bear fruit in every good work, be strengthened with the power of the Lord for endurance and patience, and joyfully give thanks to the Father who has qualified us for heaven—delivering us from darkness into the Kingdom of heaven through Jesus Christ.

    We are all like sheep and Jesus is the Good Shepherd. He provides everything we need.  My Shepherd protects me when I walk through life's toughest circumstances, therefore I do not have to be anxious.  His rod and staff comfort me, He takes care of me in the presence of my enemies. He shields me and He always pursues me.

    We all live for something, are you living for Jesus or your idols? Do you have a relationship with Jesus? Do you know what has captured your heart? Who or what are you serving?

    Psalm 78: Remembering God's Work in Praise

    We read in Psalm 78 today that we must tell the next generation of the Lord's faithfulness.  We need to remember so we don't forget God's Word and His works. His faithfulness.  Remembering gives us the relationship with God that He wants to have with us.  Even though we can be unfaithful, God is not. Tell the younger generation.

    Hebrews 12:1-4: Running with Endurance

    Our mission to to honor God and bring Him glory by finishing the race that God has outlined for us to run.  Be aware of the character of God, read the Bible, get to know Him. Run the race given to you, stop trying to change it to your liking. Continually look to His faithfulness and how He has worked in your life.

    Psalm 77: From Doubt...to Faith

    When God seems silent in our suffering, our faith grows. Psalm 77 helps build our faith in the midst of our situations, good and bad. The psalmist shows us how to lean on God. The psalmist cries out all night long, searching for answers. He feels abandoned, but he turns to God and intentionally meditates and remembers the good that God has done.

    Psalm 46: God Our Refuge: The Powerful Presence of God

    God is our refuge and our strength.  No matter the trouble, we do not need to be fearful, God is our ever present help.  He never walks away from us, we can trust God's presence.  Know and rest in the truth that God is your refuge and strength. Pause your worries and fear and recognize the presence of God.

    Psalm 27: Courageous Trust in the Lord

    David shows us how to stand firm in the storms of life. Trust God as your light and salvation, God is with you, there is nothing to fear. Delight in God, seek His guideance and presence.

    Unity among God's people is a beautiful, sacred gift.  When we funcgtion in unity it is a beautiful, sacred gift from God that reflects His blessings to us, which provides life and hope.

    Psalm 139: A Psalm of God, Our Father

    God, Our Father, knows us completely, there is nothing that God does not know.  This is God's omniscience. God is always with us, He comforts us with His presence. This is God's omnipresence. God created us intentionally, he knows all about our strengths and weaknesses, because He made them.  This is God's omnipotence. Take comfort in knowing that God knows us and is always with us. Trust God.

    Psalm 90: Numbering Our Days and Living for God's Glory

    We only have one life to live, no do overs and we do not know the number of our days.  We should be living for God's glory with whatever number of days we have. Live well, every day counts.  Glorify God, how do you spend time with God? Love well, Share God's mercy and compassion with others around you.

    Psalm 96: A Call to Universal Worship

    Universally praise God in voice and action because He deserves it.  Make this summer one of renewal and worship. Observe God's glory and share God with others, intentionally.

    1 Samuel 17: Trusting God who Fights for Us

    David vs. Goliath. David's trust in God is what won the battle, not David himself.  We need to trust God's faithfulness in all our challenging circumstances. The Lord has provided us with the simple tools needed to fight our battles his way. Those tools are His word, prayer, the Holy Spirit, and godly people. Use these tools and trust God's faithfulness. David did and he won the battle.

    Deuteronomy 6: 1-9 Love the Lord Your God

    The message today is from Deuteronomy 6 verses 1 through 9, part of Moses' farewell address.  You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. Deuteronomy 6:5 Examine your own faith as you raise your children, you aren't going to give to your children what you do not possess. Love God fully, learn and live God's words, talk about the word and create a godly home.

    Hebrews 11:11-13: Trusting God

    What does it mean for a mom to trust God in today's world? What makes it possible to get through the pressures of the day? Faith. The sermon today explores the story of Sarah and her faithfulness. Sarah faithfully trusted God's timing and demonstrated faith in her challenges. Her faith became her legacy.  God's faithfulness is dependendent on His unchanging character not anything that you do. Trust Him.

    In our message today we learn about young Timothy and the advice his mentor, the apostle Paul gave to him.  Three pieces of advice from the message: Be teachable, never think you know more than everyone else.     Dead to Sin and Alive to God! After the resurrection you are no longer associated with Adam, you are now identified with Christ. You alive in Christ, not dead in Adam.  Sin is not your master, you are no longer a slave to sin. You now walk with Christ and become known by your righteousness.

    This is the fourth sign in the book of John which demonstrates Jesus' power over creation while also emphasizing His compassion.  Jesus is the bread of life, He confronted the people as to what they truly wanted. He knows they do not truly believe.  What kind of bread do you long for? Will you believe in Jesus?

    Matthew 4: Jesus is Tempted in the Wilderness

    In Matthew 4 Jesus is tempted after being in the wilderness for 40 days. Jesus in human form is in a very vulnerable place, tired and hungry, but He does not give in to temptation. Jesus obeys and relies on God's Word. This is a demonstration for us, a way to help us when tempations and trials come upon us.

    Matthew 3: Jesus is Baptized

    We read in Matthew 3 today about Jesus' baptism by John the Baptist. Jesus stepped out of obscurity into the way to become our Savior. Jesus teaches us humility by submitting to baptism, the plan of God, and the salvation of the world.

    2 Thessalonians 2:13-17: God Provides You Hope

    Paul provides encouragement and instruction to the church in Thessalonica. As believers today we can use this encouragement to help us as we stand under life's pressures. Stand fast, remember what you know and what you have learned from God's Word. Receive God's eternal encouragement and hope while you depend upon His comfort for your inner man and strength to say and do what you need to do.
