When new growth meets a hard frost + Uranus in Gemini

In this episode I’m riffing on what’s been alive for me this spring — from a hard frost that nipped all the new growth in my garden, to the website finally being live, to Uranus moving into Gemini. It’s a 20-minute transmission you can take on a walk or let play while you’re doing something around the house. What We CoverThe website is live. NicoleDoyle.co is finally all in one place — the subconscious work, the astrology, the patterns, the body. All the flowers I love most, planted exactly where I want them. Go take a look.Spring came in fast — and then came the frost. Everything bloomed early this year and then a hard frost nipped it all back overnight. I couldn’t stop thinking about how that mirrors what happens to us when we’re mid-expansion and something unexpected shows up. The tree didn’t quit. Neither do we.The years I missed. 15 years in corporate America meant a lot of seasons I completely detached from. Cherry blossoms, spring growth, the slow rhythm of nature — all of it passing while I was on deadline. Reflecting on how that changed, and what it means now.One day when. My mom passed away suddenly at 50, leaving behind an iced coffee in the fridge and clothes with the tags still on. That story keeps finding me in new ways — this time as a mom, catching myself postponing things for a phase that’s always just around the corner. One day is a choice, not a destination.Uranus into Gemini. On April 25th, the final outer planet made its ingress into a new sign — and for the next seven years, we’re all being asked to liberate the way we think, question what we believe is real, and stop building our lives on an identity we’ve already outgrown. A gas leak, the serviceberry and the work no one sees

This week I recorded a voice memo style podcast about a gas leak, a serviceberry tree, and what spring keeps trying to show us — you can listen or read the whole thing below.A gas leak, the serviceberry and the work no one seesSo I’m coming to you with something a little different this week, and I’m committed to communicating more in a way that feels authentic to me. The one way I know how to do that is via voice. Someone said to me, what is one thing you could do no matter what, no matter how you’re feeling? And it was this — show up in a voice memo. So this is what I’m doing, and I’m going to transcribe it into my email for the week so you can listen to it as a live transmission, if you will, or read it if that’s more your thing.I wanted to tell you about a few things I noticed this week and just see if you could relate. So let’s start here — astrologically, this week was a lot. We had some volatile energy and if you’ve been tuning into the news, this is the week of April 6th I’m speaking of, recording this on the 12th, and even if you weren’t fully tapped into the news machine, you could probably feel it. As an astrologer I knew this week would feel like a collective WTF for a lot of people, and I was pretty consciously trying not to get too pulled in. Even my own teacher sent an email saying, hey, listen, we all know what this week looks like astrologically, it’s volatile, so touch grass, be in nature, do your thing. And my life was no different from anyone else’s who was just trying to live while the surprises kept coming. And one of those surprises for me was that on Friday, we had a gas leak.So the backstory is we’d been drying our clothes and they kept coming out kind of damp, and I googled it and everything pointed to the lint trap being clogged. We clean it every single time we do a load, but I had ordered a new lint catcher because the old one looked kind of gross — and it turned out it was a little too short for our dryer. So all that time, the lint that wasn’t being caught was going straight into the exhaust hose. Marc cleaned it all out, fixed it, we put the original lint trap back in so it wouldn’t happen again, but when he was pushing the dryer back into place he must have loosened the gas line just slightly. So the clothes are finally drying, we’re like, amazing, finally, and if you have kids you know how much laundry there is. But I’d gone to physical therapy, I came back, we were outside in the garden for a bit, and when I came back inside about two hours later I just immediately smelled it — that undeniable smell of gas.So what did I do? I called our HVAC people and very casually said, hey, how are you doing, I’m just curious, do you guys repair gas lines? And the woman goes, it depends, tell me more. And I said, yeah, I smell gas. And she goes, girl, you are in danger. And I was like, what? And she said, you need to call the utility company and you need to call 911 and you need to leave the house. So immediately I’m like — Marc, make the bottles, put the dogs in their crates, let’s go.I called the utility company and they walked me through this very serious series of questions, asking them multiple times, and I remember thinking, oh my gosh, this is really serious. I knew a gas leak could be dangerous but because it felt so localized I didn’t quite register the scale of it. Big deal. Really big deal, it turns out.The utility company apparently alerted the fire department because they showed up within minutes. Marc’s outside holding the baby, we’ve got the dogs in the car in their crates, we’ve got the diaper bag and my handbag, and we’re just waiting. Fire truck pulls up, full garb into the garage, just the nicest people. We live in a township with paid fire and thank goodness, they were there so fast and they were so kind — not dismissive at all, just really kind. They had these big pliers and were able to turn off the gas right at the source, showed us exactly where the leak was, and then the utility company came within about a half hour and fixed everything. All was well on our street. But here’s what I noticed about how I moved through the whole thing.I have always been the person in my life that people come to in a crisis, in an emergency, when something goes wrong. I have always somehow known what to do and been able to handle things in the moment — one of my clients actually told me I’m like a mix of ChatGPT and Pinterest because I just have an answer for everything, which made me laugh because honestly, that tracks. But historically, handling things like this would take a lot out of me. It would wreck my system. I’d go into full hypervigilant fixer mode, handle everything to completion, and then completely bottom out afterward — just needing to rest because I’d poured everything I had into the situation. And this time, we just carried on with our life.I don’t know if it’s the resilience that comes with becoming a mom, where you kind of have to roll with the punches and do what must be done, or if it’s been the accumulation of all the inner work, or honestly probably both — but I was genuinely surprised by how my body and my whole system just moved through it and kept going. Marc texted me afterward and said, thanks for saving our family. And I kind of shrugged it off in the moment, but then I sat with it for a second and I thought, no — I actually did spring into action, I made things happen, and I got it sorted before anything became a disaster. And I almost didn’t even clock that as growth because it felt so natural. And that’s my invitation to you this week. Can you think of a time recently where you handled something differently than you would have before? It doesn’t have to be dramatic like a gas leak — maybe it was an interaction at work, something that came up in your business, a moment with a friend or a family member where you noticed you responded from a different place, more aligned with your values, more like the person you’ve been becoming. And maybe you didn’t even clock it in the moment. Maybe you only notice it when you sit still for a second and reflect. We don’t always give ourselves credit for how far we’ve come. That is this week’s invitation — take a moment, find that thing, and give yourself what you deserve for it.Now, in addition to the gas leak, spring is on full display around here and it is happening fast and furiously.I was looking at my autumn brilliance serviceberry in the garden the other day — it’s in its third season here — and I just thought, okay, this is going to be a great year for this tree. Because in gardening, when you’re talking about perennial plantings and trees and shrubs, there’s this saying: the first year it sleeps, the second year it creeps, and the third year it leaps. What that means is that in the first year, a plant’s entire focus is on building its root system in its new home — finding nutrients, accessing water, establishing itself on a solid foundation. It’s not putting on any exterior visible growth because everything is happening underground, getting rooted in. Second year, you might notice a little bit of external growth — it’s just creeping along, still focused on the roots but starting to show itself just slightly above the soil. And then the third year — the leap year — that’s when you start to notice things. You’re like, my gosh, it’s gotten so big, or the blooms look incredible, or look how much longer the branches are. And the root growth below the surface is still absolutely happening, but now the above-ground growth is finally visible to everyone watching. What I love about this rhythmic, predictable nature of how plants grow in a new place is that if a plant is happy and tended and taken care of, you can almost always count on this cycle. First year, very slow, very minimal. Second year, a little. Third year, you watch it take off.And depending on how you acquire plants — meaning you can absolutely pay for a larger, more established shrub where you’re essentially paying for the years of growth someone else tended — sometimes I do that because I want the immediate impact. But sometimes I’ll buy something really small and I’m willing to wait. It just depends on what I’m going for in that moment. But when I look at that pattern in the garden, I think about how much of a mirror it is for what’s happening in our lives. We too have this rhythmic growth. And so often, people will notice the bloom — they’ll notice the growth, the big visible thing — but they won’t see the time you spent putting in the work, which is essentially the rooting in period. They’ll think, wow, you just popped off and grew, and it’s like — actually, no. You didn’t see the stabilization, you didn’t see the pattern disrupting, you didn’t see the rewiring of how she feels about herself, all of those things that were happening under the soil the whole time. And that can feel hard when you’re in it, because you’re like, when is my bloom moment going to come? When are people going to notice? And I’m not saying it has to take three years in a season the way it does for a plant — we have our own rhythms and they don’t always map perfectly onto nature’s calendar. But nature is showing us something about cyclical growth, and the invitation is to ask: have I given myself the time I needed to sleep, to creep, and then to leap? And am I in my bloom right now, or am I still in my rooting in period, and can I honor that?Because here’s the thing — we’re not changing and pivoting and evaluating how we feel in our lives or learning new skills or literally relocating or creating new careers or doing deep inner work because we want the recognition for it. I mean, obviously if you have a business like me, you’re hoping that growth results in more aligned clients finding you and in the mission actually reaching people. But the outward recognition — I don’t need billboards of platitudes. I just want to know that I’m helping people feel better in the world. And so the bloom comes in so many different forms, but we so often don’t give ourselves enough credit for the years of transformation or the decades of self-development work that go into having a really stable, settled system — the kind that shows up when an emergency happens and just knows what to do and carries on.The gas leak was a really clear example of that for me this week. And I think you can look at your own life and find your version of it — a time when you changed something big, and you had your rooting in period and your minimal growth period and then all of a sudden it was recognizable on the outside, to everyone watching, that something had shifted. They may never fully see it for what it was, but you know. You stuck it out. You did the work. And now the external growth is finally visible.Astrologically, April has been a lot, and I could say that as an astrologer with full sincerity. I actually texted a friend the other day and said, I’m really glad I don’t have to sugarcoat these transits in a podcast right now because I would genuinely be at a loss. These are not the easiest astrological times we’ve ever lived through. But I also do believe — and this is the caveat I always come back to — that we all chose to be here at this time. And so as people who decided to show up on Earth right now, we have a responsibility to look inside, to stay connected to who we are and who we’re becoming, because without that connection to ourselves we can get lost so easily, especially when we’re orienting 100% outward. There’s a song I keep coming back to — it’s “Khan” by Trevor Hall — and he sings: look in your own home, what will you find, let it move your soul. It’s such a powerful line because so much of the time we’re focused outward, and we forget to look inside. Not just the four walls you live within, but your physical form — what is the experience like to actually be you right now? Are you connected? Are you just moving through the motions? Are you an active participant in your own life? There’s nothing wrong in any of those answers, but you have to look. And with the astrology of the last two years, plus what’s happening now — we have Uranus moving into Gemini for the next 7.5 to 8 years at the end of this month, which is a big shift — this is really the time to stay tethered to yourself. Uranus is the planet of shock and disruption and surprise and volatility, and right now it’s moving through the final degree of Taurus, which rules stability, foundations, and resources. You can see where that might be showing up in real life.April also has a ton of planets in Aries, and I actually said to someone — the children being born this week are going to be something. Cardinal fire energy, making a really positive aspect to Pluto in Aquarius, power to the people — these kids are going to be transformative, warrior-esque, powerful in the best way. I’m really glad I’m not parenting one of them, but they are going to do incredible things. And just know — if children being born this week have access to that energy, so do we. That energy is available to all of us right now.May, for what it’s worth, looks really lovely astrologically. I’m genuinely excited for May — weatherwise, energetically, all of it. So we’re almost there.I also just want to say one more thing about the ephemeral beauty of spring before I let you go.Take time, wherever you are, to notice what’s blooming. Because everything that is bursting right now has just come through a period of dormancy — everything. The daffodils that are planted in the fall need a period of cold in order to bloom each spring, and then they spend their whole growing season harvesting energy through their leaves so they can bloom again the following year. It’s a year-long process. The rhododendrons — these gorgeous, woody shrubs — they set their buds for the following year as soon as they’re done blooming, and those buds weather all kinds of cold and rain and heat and everything in between, just to bloom for about two weeks in May. Two weeks. And then they wait the whole year to do it again. So if you’re sitting with a feeling of, my gosh, when is my bloom period coming — know that you have a lot of say in that. I always want to encourage that we can choose this time, and also that there’s real wisdom in following your own rhythm. What is your life asking of you right now? To bloom? To rest? To shed something? To root in deeper? To vision? What is it?And if you are in your bloom period right now — celebrate it. Give yourself the recognition you deserve, because just like spring, it’s fast and it’s fleeting and a new season is coming. Summer is all about bearing the fruit of the year. So try not to let this season pass you by, even if it’s a harder one. Even if what you’re in right now doesn’t feel all that beautiful — the light will come again, and this season is giving you so much to look back on and recognize just how far you’ve come.I hope you loved this little podcast-style email from me. I’m going to keep doing this and I’m so glad to be communicating with you this way. As always, I love hearing from you — respond to this email or find me on Instagram. This is a public episode. 38. Rebirth lives in the micro moments

In this special birthday crossover episode, also airing on Those Astrology Girls, Nicole explores the quiet, unseen rhythm of rebirth. Transformation isn’t only found in milestone moments or the blooms we can see—it’s rooted in the micro moments of devotion, the daily choices to soften, trust, and begin again.Reflecting on her 35th year and the sacred initiation of becoming a mother, Nicole shares how identity shifts often unfold when we exist between worlds: between who we were and who we’re becoming, between endings and beginnings. Through that lens, she explores Pluto, the planet of death and rebirth, and how its movement through Aquarius is teaching us to sustain massive evolution not through force, but through steady devotion to our own becoming.Together, we’ll explore why rebirth is a practice rather than a single event, how Pluto invites us to live what we’ve learned instead of analyzing it endlessly, and how the smallest moments of change, when tended to with care, create the long arc of transformation. Please follow Nicole on Instagram or www.nicoledoyle.co. Ali’s work is unique in that she’s asking, “Why does falling off track with your healthy eating make sense?”. In her work, eating self-sabotage is actually about self-protection.In this episode we talk about why willpower isn’t always enough to change our relationships with food, and why falling off track makes so much sense. Using the TAIL acronym we discuss the triggers that can often find us in the emotional eating pattern. Understanding that our relationship with food is rooted in emotional safety can help us understand these patterns even more deeply. Ali and I also discuss her upcoming free masterclass Untangle Your Food Triggers: Catch Yourself Before You Fall Off Track masterclass, where Ali will guide you through a coaching exercise that’ll enable you to uncover what’s really going on underneath your emotional eating struggles. You’ll walk away with a tangible tool you can apply next time you find yourself wondering “Why Am I Eating This Now?”.The masterclass will be on Tuesday, September 10 from 12 - 1:15 pm EST (and you know I’ll be there too!) You’ll learn:* What triggers you to fight food (hint: why it makes sense)* The 4 emotional triggers that bring on food self-sabotage, even when you’re feeling great (if you’re familiar with the the often repeated H-A-L-T acronym, you’ll learn what’s missing in that framework)And how to interrupt the self-sabotage cycle while traveling, at parties, restaurants, or other social situations. This is also a sneak peak at Ali’s upcoming  Why Am I Eating This Now? (WAIETN) Live group program that opens for registration next week too. She generously gifted my community $100 off by entering coupon code NICOLE at check-out. Make sure to use that if you do decide to sign-up for the WAIETN group program.I will be leading small group coaching in this program so you get the benefit of Ali’s wisdom and an opportunity to work with me in a small group setting.Ali has 18 years of experience working with clients 1:1 and in group programs. She provides an efficient, evidence-based, and client-proven path forward (and if you’re checking credentials, she also have an Ivy League Masters degree in behavioral change and coaching 😉). 26. The promises of the Miracle Suit

SummaryWho knew I’d cry talking about a bathing suit on my podcast? This episode has been with me a while, since I saw that Miracle Suit in the store in April. To the young girl who thought her body needed a “miracle suit” to enjoy the pool and lay out in the sun, I see you, I love you, your body does not make you any less worthy of enjoying your life. The miracle suit dilemma and the relationship with my body over the years has turned in to the most amazing foundation for my relationship with everything in my life. A way to tend to my own garden in unique ways. A launchpad for all of the other concepts I’d tackle and how what meaning I made about myself. The work that would quite literally change it all, yet it is never that simple. To the Miracle Suit at Macys, I’m sorry I put so much pressure on you to change my life, that was my job all along.P.S. no shade to the actual bathing suit brand. These were not designed for my 12 year old body and never were intended to serve me… see this pic below for proof! In this episode I talk about my personal noticing practice, what it is, how special it has become to me. I tell stories about how noticing felt more confusing at first before I decided to make a conscious effort. I went from blaming nature for being behind or ahead of schedule to genuinely curious about what I could find in my explorations each day. 23. Knowing and doing are two very different things

In this episode I detail the differences between knowing and doing, how to bridge that gap, and that often, what defines the gap between the two is a big serving of protective resistance. This resistance and our behaviors make so much sense when we can see they serve a purpose. Many people are coming to realize they can no longer outsource their power when its time to understand inner workings or deeper layers of your behaviors. Now is the time to move through this work in a meaningful way and make different choices for how you meet yourself when you realize there is a gap between knowing what you want to do or what you know, and what you are doing or failing to do. To illustrate this, I personally discuss how I met myself in many situations where I knew I wanted to behave differently, but wasn’t taking action. Some of these examples include my relationship with aligned eating habits and exercise even more recently my relationship with money. Sometimes we know exactly “what” to do, but can’t seem to execute. Of course there are technical problems that we need to solve sometimes, and we need help and information to do it. Other times what we actually need is an adaptive, practical solution to our perceived issues, and we can’t outsource that to Google or Chat GPT. We need a mirror, and someone to witness and guide us in that way. More importantly, we need to meet ourselves in that place in order to effect real and lasting change. Peeling back the layers to these things will often come up in the most mundane times of our lives once we see it for what it is. You could be taking out the trash, or loading fruit into the refrigerator when that knowing hits you - Ah HA! What I’m really doing is preventing myself from feeling at risk for failure.Ah HA! What I’m actually doing has served me so well for years, I'm solving all the problems without regard for my personal values because I want to be known as a “good” family member, employee, friend. Ah HA! I’ve been setting unrealistic expectations for myself because I believe in order to be liked and valued I have to outperform myself at every turn. Ah HA! I am feeling at risk for judgement by others so I talk negatively to myself and eat more sweet snacks even though they make me feel terrible. These are just some examples of how this can play out - in many many many ways, remember you are special, unique and how this shows up for you may not look like the above examples but I guarantee you, if you are experiencing the gap between “knowing and doing” there is something meaningful underneath it all for you to discover. In a conversation with my dear friend, Ardas Chandra, we discussed her decision to create paid content for Substack, if you don’t know her already, she is a wonderful creative, writer, friend, mom, just so many things! We were joking about the difference between knowing what we need to do and actually doing it. She knows the basis of my work is around protective resistance and we discuss it often. The inner protectors are often running the show in our life until we learn to understand them with new eyes, and better yet, new experiences. Her recent post really made me think about some of the areas where I was holding back in my life, and where I was experiencing the gap of knowing and doing, especially around taking action toward my goals and a particularly inspiring quote by Kevin Kelly. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed! If any of this conversation or these concepts sparks your interest, and maybe you realize wow, you know what I thought I knew what to do but…well you frankly still haven’t done it and you want to know more, we can cover all this and more in an Inner Audit. You bring a goal that you want to work on, and we uncover deeper layers of resistance so that you can begin to see it with new eyes. With this new foundation of understanding you are able to allow yourself to bloom in a new way, gently, understanding the environment in which you have been in for quite some time. From here, I promise you will not see things the same way. In 90 minutes, the breakthroughs I have seen my clients experience are nothings short of incredible. In this episode I discuss concepts and teachings that I learned in the Truce Coaching Certification with Ali Shapiro. I’ve been certified in this process, and have used it to work through some of my greatest resistances over the last 7 years. This process also involves coaching feedback on my process so that I can improve how I support my clients. I’ve incorporated and adapted much of this material into my own practice and it is a basis for much of my work. I am my own best case study and my clients have experienced major shifts in life, personal understanding and business by understanding the deeper resistance (i.e. shadows) of their protective behaviors and ways. 21. Marc + Nicole's Top 5 Birds

This episode is truly special because I convinced Marc to have a fun conversation live on the podcast. We recently got a bird feeder from local shop House Finch in Collingswood, NJ. Thanks to Kara, we decided on this cute, clear, fly through feeder, which I’ve situated where my hummingbird feeder typically hangs in the summer near my office window. We’re really lucky that our neighbors have been feeding birds forever, so we get a lot of activity in our yard as we provide a ton of natural forage in the garden and surrounding beds. Supposedly, winter is a super special time to become a birder via bird feeding because there is lots to see. I am so glad that we decided to experiment with a feeder closer to our house to enjoy all of the fun that bird watching while on the computer and in the office has offered us. In this episode, sparked from some fun brainstorming with Marc, we decided to share our top 5 birds. After all, Soulbloom is largely entwined in nature so this definitely fits as watching these cute birds has really made our souls bloom even in the shortest days of the year. Do you have a favorite bird or fun experience with birds? Share in the comments below or send me a DM on Instagram. I would love to hear from you! P.S. If you are new around here - Marc is my husband. We fell in love when we were 16 and have been together ever since. We got married in 2018 in our garden surrounded by friends and family, epic food and of course, tons of flowers. Thanks for reading Soulbloom by Nicole Doyle! 13. Success means nothing if...

The mantra keeps playing in my mind. Success means nothing if you are miserable. There was a time in my life where I could easily write off misery for the fake glimmer of success. It took me a few years and a major career milestone to realize I couldn’t keep pouring all of my discontent into my career like a recycling factory and refurbish trash into something that would make me happy. The raises, the promotions, they all started to mean nothing when I realized my identity was NOT my career. I felt lost, time wasn’t mine, I didn’t feel satisfaction in what I was doing in my day-to-day any more, and it was met with a slew of other overcommitments, lack of self-care, and a numb, barely there presence in my life. My creativity took a back seat to everything else, yet I still masked and acted like everything on the inside was great. From the outside, you wouldn’t be able to tell everything on the inside was shaky. My relationship with my husband was great, we have the cutest dogs ever, my house looked well-kept, I even dressed nice and felt put together. Inside my inner landscape was dismal, bleak and I had little hope things could change, but I kept on keeping on. How could I be so unhappy when my life was what people dream of? It doesn’t matter if your life is someone else’s dream life if you are miserable in one or more aspects. For me, it was my career and my lack of boundaries with my time and energy that did me in. The lack of boundaries really crept in and never let me truly know when enough was enough. I was always striving for more, especially at work, and I had to be the best. I outperformed myself each year because that was who I was. I was known for this. How could I let them down? I realized I was repeating many of the things that likely led to my mom’s early death. It hurt, it stung, I felt stupid. How could I be so blind to this? I felt all aspects of grief for this version of myself. She still exists, I have liberated many parts of her, but it’s a deep unraveling. I continue to do the inner work to not fall victim to this trap that I learned to set so easily. What is it for you that comes after this statement? Success means nothing if ____. I encourage you to fill in the blank. Sit with the other questions at the end of the episode and really be real with yourself. The time to examine this is now. There is no time for “one day when”. At the start of this episode I also debut a new way to work with me. You can select an Inner or Outer Audit to take stock of where you are now and where you want to go. You can read more about them here. All of my work is a holistic combination of inner and outer work, but in these sessions you get to choose your focus to make the most of our time together. People always ask me “How do you do it all?” and most days I feel that imposter syndrome creep in, like I am not doing nearly enough. ***But then I remember I am not meant to do it all, but I am being, and I happen to also get a lot done at the same time.***So … how can I leverage this efficiency for my benefit, maybe it really is who I am, a gift really? Let me teach you my ways of how I get $hit done, activate others to do the same, all while working backwards and efficiently. I will help you slay perfectionism, and cut the crap on your list to really only work on what matters, what is most aligned and actually *needs* to get done. If this interests you join me for a free workshop where I explain how this works, you’ll apply it to your own tasks, then we will have a 45 minute deep work session (focused working cameras on, mics off). I’ll stick around after for any questions you have! I’d love to see you there live, because in this situation, you kind of have to be present to experience the full thing.Free workshop August 6, 2023 8am PST/ 11am EST/ 5pm CESTP.S. In this episode I describe working backwards in theory and give a few examples. I also share how I am so much better at getting things done when I have company, even if they aren’t doing anything other than lending me energy, thank you my sacral beings This is a public episode. 11. Help - someone is trying to steal my sparkle!

In this episode I answer a listener question about what to do when it feels like someone is trying to steal your sparkle. I offer three approaches that can be leveraged together. These approaches are not exactly what you would expect, and require a hard look back in the mirror at yourself. It is true that sometimes people are acting in a way that isn't for your highest and best, but often we have a lot more control about how we show up, what energy we give, and how to navigate these situations when they occur. 10. More is more

In this episode I tell a story about how my mom once thought garden beds were better off with the "less is more" approach until one spring she spread 6 packets of zinnias in a quite small space. The result was a head turning swath of zinnias, blooming and blooming again and again. It even attracted hummingbirds. It was the talk of the town, in the best way possible. My mom didn't always have the luxury of being creative or expressing herself in creative ways, she was a sole provider for our family and so many others in our lives. Her garden was a source of so much pride and fulfillment for her. When I am feeling off, distant or overwhelmed, I think about when the last time I was able to be creative was? I am up to a quite high standard now of almost daily creativity and expression. It is really hard for me to ignore this side of me. I feel like my creative expression is true abundance. 06. What garden failures have taught me

In this episode I discuss the realities of gardening and how sometimes the thing you are depending on blooming, just doesn't. When you put a lot of effort into a hobby and it brings you so much joy, satisfaction and purpose, you really do get sad when it doesn't work out the way you imagined. When you are consumed with something going wrong, you miss the beauty that is right in front of you. I also discuss the complexity of being a "fixer" or "problem solver" when it comes to things that you cannot change, but only learn from. This is a public episode. 05. Shopping for clothes in a larger body

In this episode I discussed the feeling of being separate when it came to shopping in the plus size section growing up. Clothing size inclusivity has come a long way, but it wasn't always this way. I tell the story how I realized that shopping for clothes or anything was a way that I soothed myself when I felt discomfort, however the shopping experience made me feel pretty bad too. The coping mechanisms we create can often make us feel worse, however it becomes familiar and familiarity wins in the discomfort battle. I used to choose discomfort that was subtracting from my life than discomfort that was additive. Sometimes we're not ready to feel those feelings in the moment. It is a brave journey to start accepting yourself, your patterns and begin writing a new story. This is a public episode. 04. The myth of control

In this episode I detail all of the interesting ways I have tried to control nature (among other things), including using milk to save my flowers. I also discuss the journey I've been on learning to relax control and actually let my mind rest. It hasn't always been easy, but it has been worth it. Though the myth of control sure had its hold on me for a long time, I am now more aware of it so I can see it happening in real time. The flower example is a great way to look at a lower risk area of your life where you may think you are in control. Ask yourself, where can you allow a bit more ease, how can you let up in areas of your life where you are trying to control the narrative?Instagram | @nicoledoyle.co This is a public episode. 03. One day when

In this episode I discuss how I was saving the name Soulbloom for something perfect. I was hesitant to use it because I knew it was so special. It made me think of so many times that I have waited to use something nice or for the perfect moment, and how special things lost their luster. I also discuss the emotions this brings up when you lose a loved one and sift through what they may have been saving for one day when. This dilemma of waiting in general can run so deep. I used tell myself I'd be happy one day when I was finally XYZ size, or fit into certain clothes. My goal in telling you all of this is to help you see that there is no one day when, we are living now. How can we stop delaying the enjoyment of our lives? This is a public episode. 02. The resilience of daffodils

In this brief solo episode I discuss the magic of spring flowers, daffodils, and how their appearance surprises me and amazes me each year. I also talk about how a self discovery journey is a lot like the changing seasons of blooms in nature. Ultimately, the resilience and cycles of nature contain so much wisdom for our own journeys, if we pay attention. How can you notice your own seasons, what's blooming, what is growing and embrace where you are? I hope this post will make you see daffodils everywhere! This is a public episode.
